The bathroom did not get clean before we got there, and there were two used soap bars with hair on them in the shower. The light switch was broken and was hard to turn the light on in the bedroom, plus the fan switch was faulty.

Property was in a fabulous location. Easy walk to surfers beach. Unfortunately the Internet isn’t very good for people who work online as it was like having dialup which for us dosnt work. Cleaner must have been in a rush after last guests as inside microwave was dirty, sliding door and bathroom mirror were grubby. Kitchen tap only trickles out which makes doing dishes near impossible. No remote for tv in the bedroom so couldn’t watch it.

The property is located easy walking distance to surfers Paradise and also the local Chevron Island shops and restaurants. The property is compact but there was good parking and their accommodation was clean and pleasant. Communication was excellent. The kitchen was really well appointed for a stay of several days. The pool was also a lovely addition. The property represents a really good value alternative to staying in surfers Paradise with a lot more amenities for the money you pay then what you would get over on the glitter strip.

Very comfortable and quiet location. We were travelling for a sports tournament and the apartment was perfect, with a good kitchenette and washing machine also. Easy walk to beach and shops, and very helpful management. We enjoyed our stay, and would stay again!

This resort apartment was perfect for us. We were there for 9 days. We had a washing machine and dryer, body wash, shampoo and conditioner, towels, a kitchen with all the utensils, crockery, tea, coffee, sugar and a balcony to sit on that overlooked the pool area. Then add in Jane and her willingness to help us on a weekend and you have a perfect place, within walking distance to Surfers Paradise. Thank you Jane ❤️

I chose to stay away from the crazy that is Surfers Central, and this was perfect. Short walk to everything, and even a small group of shops nearby. It was clean and comfortable. It was well equipped for a serviced apartment. Small tip though is to supply salt and pepper. Who wants to buy that for a short stay. I would definitely stay again but not in that particular room. As it was near the pool and the entry to other apartments l had to keep the shutters (which gave great privacy) on the patio shut for most of the time. The only other thing was that even though there was an overhead fan in the bedroom, it did not operational. Overall good value fir the money.

Rooms are very small, in particular the bathroom, where the door can't be closed or opened very easily. Toilet seat cover wouldn't stay up as it was supposed to. The wifi reception was dismal. One of the overhead lights didn't work since the lamp was blown. I wouldn't recommend this place at all.

Perfect location, great accommodation
Brilliant location, walking distance to central Surfers Paradise hot spots, no more than 10 minutes walk to the beach! Slightly older building but facilities are great, excellent security and secure parking. Very clean and nicely maintained, pool and BBQ area fantastic, new furnishings in the rooms, plenty of kitchenette facilities in the rooms, air con was invaluable.

The free wifi consists of only 100mb which is used before you know it and you have to pay $5 to get unlimited wifi which was patchy as to where in our apartment it worked.
The pool is nice but having to keep avoiding the auto pool cleaner made it less enjoyable.

A property away from the main buzz but quiet, comfortable but some attention to in room facilities needed. I found it quite serviceable for a quiet place to stay. Ideal for a person who may have to have a short working spell there but the reliability of and ability to connect to the Free WiFi is an area where some modifications should be made. Air Con, cooking facilities, fridge and furnishings are all included but one sofa is in need of replacement.

This is my second stay at this place. The location is very convenient. It’s close enough to everything on offer in Surfers Paradise but in a quiet street. Easy check in and friendly service. The free parking is great if you’re driving. Would definitely stay here again.

We left this property after one night and found other accomodation. As it was the weekend the office staff in reception was unavailable from 4pm Saturday until 10am Sunday. We received considerate help from the young lady at reception when we reported to her Sunday morning and after she had inspected the apartment with my wife she too was appalled and reported the condition of the apartment to the owner

The property could be smelt before even entering the room. The musty smell was overpowering once in the room. The carpet was stained and dirty , the bedding was ancient and looked dirty and the bed was hard as a rock.When management was contacted they stated to open the windows . THEY WERE ALREADY OPEN . The room was inhabitable and also being an asthmatic , it was impossible to stay there.Expedia advised to book another room elsewhere and due to Karana refusing to refund money , we ended up paying for 2 sets of accommodation. The property is very old, ceiling fans rickety and rattled, decor from 1974, bed & pillows extremely uncomfortable, and couch was sunken so quite uncomfortable. But for an affordable stay on the Gold Coast it was sufficient and better than a hostel. The pool area was great, and the hotel close to Chevron Isl shops. The owners just need to invest a little in their asset.

The walls has repaired dents, the blinds didn't close properly so we could never sleep in the morning, the security doors didn't close on the balcony so we didn't feel safe, cockroach found in the kitchen, stained couch cushions. Was a bit gross.

Needed somewhere to stay when going to an event at HOTA. Great location for this. Surprised to find office unattended just after 5pm but quick call to number on wall (not the mobile on the door) and was able to get key from key safe. Good undercover parking (big car spaces). Apartment was clean but the fan controller in the bedroom was pretty much ripped off the wall. Took a very quick photo in case we were blamed. Neither bedside light in bedroom worked and locks on verandah screen doors couldn't be locked but apart from that room was all that we needed. Comfy bed, clean sheets and towels.

Excellent location. We had no problems shopping, travelling and visiting Commonwealth games venues . I noticed that in the lounge and bedroom the height of the fans to be low. Would suggest removing the fans altogether. The sofa needs serious cleaning. Staff were excellent.

This little place is a real gem, close to all shopping and not that far from attractions, price is reasonable, and apartments are roomy, a must look at if you wish to stay short or long term on chevron island

We had to wait 24 hours to receive a wifi password, to have air conditioning we had to pay additional cost, we sat on the lounge it just sagged and extremely hard to get out of.
We stayed for 3 days and would never stay again.

Ok for the budget conscious looking for the basics
I wasn't expecting the Hilton or anything close. I was looking for something comfortable, close to the beach & where I needed to go. Online this appeared to be exactly what I needed.
I got a shock to find you had to walk up stairs to get to the reception, ( I am disabled where I find stairs difficult),my disability aside, I still have to walk up stairs to get to the reception. I got my keys & was given instructions on where to find my room. I was shocked at the amount of stairs I had to walk up. 4 flights!! first flight outside, then along a tiled walkway, & up another 3 flights to my apartment. Now for an able bodied person/s with luggage this would be difficult getting your luggage up all the stairs would be a struggle. I got into the room & being hot, I decided to put the the air con on. I went to put it on only to find a sign on the wall saying that air con was $5 per night! Well, I was shocked! I travel a lot for business and pleasure and often use all different rated accommodation all over Australia. NEVER have I found where I had to pay extra for air con! So I decided to put the fans on. There are no markings on the controls for speed. Found only 2 speeds, off or full blast. No wifi as advertised, wouldn't connect

Close to beach & food, shops, transport.
Weather lovely, people friendly, great place for your kid's. Very close to public transport, also you can walk to the beach & mini Golf. Only 30 minutes from south port, if traffic is not bad. Or you can ride the tram.

Nice staff, room was very dirty and bathroom was filled with mould and dead ants Close to surfers paradise and not a long drive to theme parks. If your looking for budget accomodation to just have somewhere to sleep and shower then this is a good option. Wouldn't recommend if your planning on spending allot of time at the apartment

We really liked staying here. Having a laundry and kitchen was really handy and it felt like a home away from home. It was so close to the beach as well, only a 10 min walk. The staff were very friendly and accommodating.

The location is excellent. The room itself, once you saw past the ants, the cobwebs, the dirty dishes, the repairs and maintenance that is reqired was well layed out and suitable for sleeping. There were no staff on site to be able to purchase any extras, such as air conditioning or toilet paper. If you need somewhere to lay your head but are on a budget, this is for you.

Fly screens were torn, slats missing on the bed so I had to fix several times because mattress was falling through - this issue was known when I raised it. Walls dirty and furniture could do with a steam clean. Staff nice enough - area great and was reasonably cheap. Air Con is extra although they do have fans.

Great stay at Karana Palms. For the price I paid, it was well above my expectations. Only about 10mins walk to Surfers Paradise beach, shops etc (ideal to be about 10 mins away as the bars and clubs will keep you up all night otherwise). Had a couple issues with the washing machine and dryer but this was quickly resolved with the help of the excellent staff. Definitely recommend if you are on a budget

Room was ok a bit of a smell and the stairs up,to,the room could have done with a vacuum as there was sand and leaves on carpeted staircase. A carpet deodoriser would be nice too. The cups and cutlery should be looked over after each visitor leaves as they were put away but had food stuff on them.
