Great location next to the transit station. I loved that each bunk had it's own light and power point. I paid extra for a x4 bed female room with ensuite and my only complaint is l wish there was a mirror in the room for when the bathroom is busy.

Great hostel with a friendly atmosphere! The rooms were clean, and the common area was perfect for meeting fellow travelers. Staff were helpful and gave great recommendations for local spots. Convenient location close to public transport and attractions. Highly recommend for budget travelers!

Someone clearly rampaged into our room when we were not present. The room was left untidy like it was used, dust bin was kicked out of the room. They also forgot their phone with their ID card in the phone case. The hotel staff were kind enough to put us in another room but I asked for an explanation of who got in and what happened. They could use security cameras to understand that, but we were not informed of what occured. Overall we felt very unsafe. Lucky that we did not had any valuables in the room and none of our stuff was lost.

Late check in was ok but the staff member that checked us in was obviously very high or on something but polite and did his job. The room was fairly clean but under beds were filthy and had big pieces of food & containers under them which lead me to believe everything else wasn’t hugely clean. obviously it’s a quick change of sheets, open curtains and put toiletries in only. It was incredibly loud and even with ear plugs in for sleep, I could hear music downstairs every night. We had a private room toilet. Good for a back packers but an ok in general. If you aren’t too fussy and can sleep with noise or was an ok stay. Thanks.

Great location

Pros: prime location (walking distance to everything), nice common area with pool, air conditioning works pretty well, bunk beds with individual light and power point.

Cons: check out is too early (10am), finding the reception may be a bit confusing for someone who's never been there (it's on the 1st floor of a different hotel called The Island around the corner). When checking in they requested my passport, which is a bit weird for a domestic trip (they didn't accept my australian driver license)

Great stay. Excellent pillows, clean and stylish room, fantastic location. One small criticism, the mattress was a bit springy, not terrible but for me the one important detail is the mate was/pillow. There was some street noise/music at night but if you are staying here you are here to be out enjoying yourself and part of the street noise!
Overall I’d highly recommend this place and I’d stay again.

There is a GCCC undercover Parking just next door, very convenient and was only $5 overnight.
Didnt realise Bunk was park of the Island hotel so got a little confused with where to checkin but when staff explained the temporary checkin location of Island Hotel reception, understandable.
Found staff very friendly. The room (Queen with own bathroom) is good, clean, has basic necessities like TV, safe, shower, toilet, usb stations all over.
Room looked better on the inside than does from the outside, but cheap accomodation, not complaining.

BAD AND DONT STAY HERE

I have stayed here for 2 months during March 2020. I arrived checked in and was fine until an unregistered friend of a guest was let into the property. He was hostile and aggressive in the room so much so that he almost had his fist out. I told the management and GM that was in that night. Security and the GM I thought resolved the problem was let back into the room and was told that the other guests have been given a 2 hour suspension on the room the GM escorted me to the room and said it’s fine grab your stuff and we sorted a room out for you. As I was packing the guests in question came back into the room and started with another aggressive stance and was pushing me around and aggressively acting towards me because I was gay as that came up in conversation. I don’t have a problem with it. I then called the Police and a staff member thank god was on the floor and called the GM. They arranged a refund for my stay with push back as this was 10pm on a Saturday night with no apology was made. The GM also admitted fault when I asked how would he like it and what would he have done in situation and he said I would of felt short changed and felt more should have been done were his exact words. (Which is why I calm down) The next day the manager said it wasn’t our fault and we can’t be responsible for how people act with again no apology. I think a duty of care is placed and more should of been done in this situation and you should be aware that this is how management act.

Would definitely stay again

Probably one of the best hostels I've been to. In a very good location, about a ten minute (if that) walk to the beach, restaurant and mall. The beds were clean and comfortable, the lockers were large and had a safe to store items. Would definitely stay again. My only complain is the elevator had a sour smell, like someone puked in it. But luckily it was a short ride and didn't effect anything else.

I had a great time, location is perfect, very close to train, shopping centre, restaurants, bars and the beach! 2min walking. Rooms were clean and renovated. Toilet big enough and inside the room. I stayed in a 4bedroom female and it was a great choice. Bed was comfy and the separation of the bunk make it really private, which i love it! Most of the staff is nice and friendly. I stay on Halloween and they had a party, which was a great opportunity to meet people and socialise. I would recommend it!!

one of the 'nicest' hostels I've stayed in since coming to Australia --
the pool/jacuzzi is dirty, definitely needs to be taken care of more often!
their cleaning manager, Carmen, does a great job at keeping the rooms and bathrooms liveable
I love the setup of the beds - more privacy than I've found in most of AUS!

This is the nicest back packers I’ve stayed. It’s actually really clean and the bathrooms seem recently renovated. Lots of activities for guest on offer, if you’re in to that. I’d highly recommend this place. Just make sure you bring your passport (if you have on) because they seem to discriminate against Aussies that don’t own passports. That’s the only negative I can’t think of.

As a hostel I can see this being a decent place. Staying in a private room as an alternative to a hotel is not the best idea. Noisy, couldn't turn on the heater, different facilities to what was advertised. Staff were polite enough and the location was great

Good place but noisy at night

The hotel is nearby the tram at Cavill Avenue station, just 200-300 meters. Cross the traffic lights are many shops and the beach is just few minutes walk. There is no bed number allocated when you check in, you get it when there is a vacant. I have mentioned to get a low-deck bed but got in the room only left top-deck bed. Outside the rooms is having a swimming pool and the guests make noise till mid night. Staff never bother. There is no hair dryer in the bath room. Only 2 lamps, a bit dark.

Def the best quality Hostel I've been to so far. Clean and top notch. I liked the cupboards for stuff with a pin security box. Shared shower in the room instead of somewhere across a hallway just put this hostel to the next level.

I didn't fit the hostel stereotype - young, travelling abroad, ready to party, etc... I am a youth mentor on the GC for a business conference - and yet I still found BUNK ticked all the boxes. There was a great balance between youthful fun combined with consideration and respect. I found all the guests happy and friendly and respectful in the shared spaces. Add this to a super-central location, I knew I had picked the perfect place to stay. Thanks.

Amazing backpacker

My friend recommended that backpacker to me when I was on my trip. I visited many cities and stayed at lots of backpackers but it is the best one. You can get private space and the structure of the bed not to face others is nice. Everywhere is clean and I felt comfortable

I had a great experience staying at this hostel for 3 nights during the Gold Coast commonwealth games. Room was clean although the only comments were that the heat pump was super mouldy so we didn’t use it, and the bathroom needed hand soap if not a hand towel too. Otherwise the facilities were great and the location couldn’t have been more ideal.

The hostel was very comfortable and I had no issues with anything during my stay. The beds are designed such that you get more privacy. The room, bedding, toilet, and public areas were very clean!

Cons:
I don't know if this was just towards me or just the general attitude of the hostel staff - but the people at the reception were not exactly helpful for anything.
Examples:
I had an issue with my converter, and went to check if they could lend me one for a price, and the only response I could get out of the receptionist was - \"No, we don't have any\". When I asked - \"could you tell me where I could go get one nearby? .. I don't remember seeing any electronic stores\".. and the response was - \"I don't know. You can find out\".

As it happens, during this season (Feb) Gold Coast can get pretty wet from continuous rains. I was running late for my conference and wanted to check if they had an umbrella and I got a similar response. They don't have any umbrellas to spare for their customers (I don't mind paying!) in a place where rainfall is common?!.. um.. hello?

There are many events that happen everyday to encourage backpackers to interact. But this was by far the most groupy bunch of hostels I've been to. Mind you, I was there for 5 days. The environment is not sociable for people who are even mildly shy.

I'd recommend this place for someone who just wants a clean and comfortable stay. If you are looking to meet people, or expect good service - don't stay here.

Central, modern, great!

Stayed for five nights - was a little apprehensive at first as I thought it would be full of young, young travellers, but I was wrong. A complete mix. Staff are friendly and go out of their way to engage those staying there with the activities each night. Laundry available, kitchen is the best I've used in a hostel, social spaces are incredible and it feels just like a hotel. I loved it so much, after I came back from Tasmania, I booked another two nights. Oh - and it's as central as you can get. Oh - and the WIFI was the best WIFI I've ever had at a hostel

Good experience overall. Nice rooms. Property is remodeling some things which was cool. Kitchen could use more oversight to keep guests cleaning after themselves and respecting others’ food in the fridge. Local area filled with things to do and public transit to get around. Parking is not the best if you have a car. Costs $12 with validation from hostel and is good for single entry only.

The manager and day staff were incredible. I was upgraded by the manager to the hotel adjoining Bunk. Upon arriving, I had to unfortunately speak to the night staff, who behaved like he didn't trust me and made me uncomfortable. He had heard the message put on my phone by the manager, but still wanted to make my life difficult at midnight when I finally arrived there. The day staff and manager had to sort the night staff's mistakes, and were apologetic. I am sure they were both going to speak to the night staff so the issue didn't happen again.

- Room was good, clean and tidy. I liked the beds, they give you more privacy and toilet was clean as well. There was no noise in the room despite being close to all the clubs and bars.
- Only complain is the doors of the rooms are quite shabby and can be easily fixed.

Was my first bad experience in hostel. Room smell bad, its not cleaning properly.
Its noisy, also they let music so loud untill late.
Guest are drunk and have sex in the rooms or worst poop or pee when they are completely drunk.
Toilets are disgusting.
Staff is smiling and welcoming.

Nice location but too many rules for single room

Great location in the heart of Surfer's Paradise/Gold Coast and almost next to the Skypoint Tower and a block from the beach. I would suggest getting a cheaper place if booking a single bedroom. You can't bring guests and you need to bring down your sheets after and check out is at 10am. For that in itself i would rather just spend $10 more and get a real hotel where i can get guests and don't have to worry about making 2 trips checking out as the sheets aren't all that tiny for king beds, and checking out at 11 instead of 10. The construction is still ongoing and no where done as of late Aug 2017. Some parts are new and some are not. Wifi is good but caps at 2gb so if you intend to surf the net a lot for a couple days, i wouldn't select this place for the internet limitation. Overall i loved the location, room was clean, but i wouldn't stay here in a private room - I'd go somewhere else for the same price. I would consider this place if sharing with others and just for a few days. If i could give some suggestion to the owners, you're fine as a hostel, but need to adjust some polices for guests that are booking their own private room to make them feel it's worth it as opposed to booking somewhere else.

I got kicked around a little bit at check on, with the man helping other people that walked up asking stuff while trying to check me on which was annoying, and there are no towels, which wasn't stated on my itinerary or anything so I had to go and buy one, bit everything else was nice!

Staffs in the hostel are really nice. The beds in the room are having enough privacy. Moreover the hostel is near to the beach and train station. It is easy to be found though the entrance is quite difficult to be found at the beginning.

The best thing about it was the location in Surfer's Paradise. Next, the WiFi is blazing fast and you get 2GB free (but I think you actually get more than that). Staff are all very nice and helpful. The rooms are fairly clean. Turn on the AC by going out to the balcony and flipping the switch by the unit. Bring a towel. The doors stick and are incredibly noisy. I love the layout of the beds which gives you complete privacy. Genius bunk design. Very solid bunks that don't squeak or move around.
