I would highly recommend this property. We arrived outside of office hours but were given clear instruction on accessing the property and the lock box that contained our keys. The apartment was large, looked and smelt clean. The people managing the property were friendly and were out every day maintaining the property. The property is well positioned to easily walk to the beach, twilight markets and the numerous restaurant in surfers paradise. I will definitely be looking into booking this place again during summer.

The room itself and general housekeeping needs some attention; paint was peeling from the walls, the bathroom and bedroom flyscreens needs to be replaced as there are holes in them.
There was also an ant infestation in the bathroom sink and large stains on the blankets in the wardrobe.
We stayed for a week and were not provided with any laundry liquid/powder.
The decor of the room seemed like we were given the leftovers from someone's home. A very shabby chaise that gave me hives every time I sat on it, an old couch with a removable cover (I didn't dare remove), ratten and glass kitchen table and coffee table.
We also only had 4 teabags and 4 sachets of sugar - these were not replenished during our stay.
The person at the reception desk was friendly when we checked in and out.
Unfortunately, we will not be back as the price is too high for the poor quality of the room itself. It looks like management is doing the bare minimum when considering their guests' stay. You can find many other options for the same price with better amenities.

Location is the best feature. I originally did not get the upgraded aprt I book and paid more for, I was given a run down Budget aprt (no 25) I did complain and initially they said that the aprt I got was an upgraded aprt, which I was not happy about as the unit did not match the images on the website. After some time, they advised I could move to another aprt which I did after viewing as this was the grade of aprt I had booked and paid for (no 32). The new aprt matched the images on the website I booked from. After resettling, I was quite happy, with a nice view of the beach at the end of the street. Kitchen and bathroom were both renovated and the bed was of a better quality. No air-conditioning or overhead fan in the bedroom but Aprt 32 did have a stand fan (unit 25 did not). No Dishwasher and the bottle of hand dishwashing liquid was empty on arrive, so take your own. Also no laundry detergent for the clothes washer. These should have a basic supply on arrival.

Bed bugs, flooding and they never even offered a credit voucher. Awful, awful, awful management - no idea how to run a hotel. Shower was so bad we asked if we could change rooms, they said no, the next day the room flooded with rain water, they moved us. The new room had bed bugs. Simply a terribly managed hotel. Building debris and materials were left everywhere and the pool fencing had been unbolted which could allow a young child to get into the pool area unsupervised. Although the hotel management informed us of the renovations, they did not specify that the pool, spa and BBQ facilities would be unavailable and they did not let us know that it would be unsafe place to stay for our eighteen month old son.

The property was central to Surfers Paradise & included secure parking. It's a fairly basic property and to be fair to the management, it was a fairly basic price to stay there so I don't feel that there are any grounds to be dissatisfied. There was work being done at the front which looked like it will improve the appearance, but there wasn't any noise to disturb us. The people there were pleasant and I felt that it was fair value for the price.

Upon arrival we walked into the room & it smelt of bleach throughout the place, making it hard to actually breathe. The room was very dull. There was dust strings hanging from the bedroom ceiling, which we were scared to keep our mouth open when sleeping. The main bed mattress springs popped up & it was uncomfortable. The shower pressure was crap, no pressure at all. There was no kitchen utensils to cook with or oven mitts. It was a very uncomfortable experience which made our stay very unpleasant.

A room such as this should never be made available for a guest to reside in. Management was unavailable as soon as we checked in and discovered how shocking the room was. The mould, smoke and urine smell was unbearable. Instead of preparing meals at the place we paid for, we had to eat out late and buy breakfast with my young family instead. Ruined our time in Surfers and we eventually managed a refund for the consecutive night and spent what was meant to be our beach day packing up our stuff and trying to find alternative accomodation in peak season on a Saturday night.

Pretty bad customer service and overall experience
The room floors were not cleaned and the refrigerator still had food from the previous guest. When i requested to have the room cleaned i was told that it was cleaned and will be charged extra fee for the same. Since i was very firm and told then about food in refrigerator then only the staff agreed to clean the floors. I was bluntly told by the cleaning lady that they dont provide such services and when we requested for extra tea bags, sugar and milk.. again was pointed out that they provide limited supply for the same and I should buy my own. Only after restating that I am international tourist visiting for only 3 days and it doesnot make sense for me to buy and then throw away the remaining i was given \"extra\" supply for tea bags, sugar and milk (8 was the count we asked for) and again the cleaning lady (not sure if she has a bigger role in managing the property, but i saw her pushing cleaning cart to one of the rooms) was bluntly telling me off about it while handing me the supplies. In short staff is very rude and doesnot like to provide anything to you. There is basically no customer service! Also the internet stopped working the second day and were asked to pay for extra service, even though we were mostly out and hardly used internet. The location is great but dont be fooled by the name Holiday Inn - its not the flagship company, they are just using the name to their advantage. I would not recommend this place even though the location of the property is great!

If all you want is a cheap stay (bed for a night or two) in Surfers this is your place. Self contained unit so that's good and very clean but furniture & linen old and/or worn. Would be 10 times better if some money was spent on the curtains, couches, other furniture, etc. Good place just suffering from lack of an upgrade.

Trickett Gardens is in a great central location right in the heart of surfers. The beach and restaurants are all within walking distance and there is a supermarket is just around the corner. The pool area is nice with a good BBQ space. The rooms are dated and could do with a mini refurb but they have everything you need in a self contained apartment. Great for a budget friendly option in a convenient location. The staff are very friendly and accommodating and went out of their way to help me. Thank you Trickett Gardens.

This is probably one of the original accommodation houses in Surfers Paradise so it's in a great location very close to the beach (I could see the water from my balcony) and the units are a good size. The furniture and fittings are a bit dated although the kitchen was good and is the perfect size for a family to self cater.

Bad experince on the coffee n sugar they provide. We stay for four nights, only three packets of coffee n sugar provided and the reception said I can request later. When I place in my request, only one packet of sugar n two packets of coffee given.

Disappointing experience from start to finish. The room was dirty (there was even something growing in the kitchen cupboards - I think maybe it was an avocado once upon a time?), the bed was unmade, the microwave was broken and they couldn't organise a replacement, I'd specifically called beforehand to arrange to park my car but when I arrived at the agreed time I was told I couldn't do so and it was a huge hassle to get it sorted. Would avoid staying here again in future.

I was disappointed as the spa was out of order, the spa and location are two reasons why I booked. To my surprise the room I got was really modern and comfortable for the price. I did have concerns being on the ground floor and these were confirmed by 2 unwelcome visitors who while they tried didn’t get in. I had one person knocking on the glass sliding door, and another shaking the door trying to get in. I didn’t alert the property staff because I’d thought I was safe because all was locked. This is a great affordable option.
