Wow!

Three nights for 2 adults and 2 children. Best deal we got in Surfers with parking. New manager a very genuine guy. Looking at the reviews I got the impression, 5 excellent then one really bagging the place (*see below). Our experience was excellent, entered to lovely large white tiled floor, very fresh and clean. Good air and airflow inside. We had a bathroom as well as an en suite, full size fridge, modern dish washer, a top loader and dryer. Outdoor gardens designed and well kept. Private jetty. Between two resorts, so some outdoor conversation at night, no problem but potential* for a problem with wrong crowd. Fantastic location with short walk to tram/bus and the life of Surfers.

The property looked nothing like the photos. It was dirty, old and stunk like mould. This place was an absolute nightmare and I can’t believe it’s still being rented as it does not meet minimum accommodation living standards. The hotel management are awful and basically scamming people. We left straight after checking in and stayed somewhere else.

Enjoyed our stay and the unit was in a good location unfortunately there were some repairs that had not been attended to, management advised they had not been reported by previous stays. Reported
to management unsafe powerpoint in master bedroom (handing out from wall), shower dripping constantly and Airconditioming not working which was rough in 30° temps along with broken outdoor furniture. Management were great when this was repoeted however due to day and time if areival repairs unable to be completed during our stay.

I had no dishwashing liquid shower screen was broken and left to the side. Dryer wouldn’t work. We had no cooking utensils. My daughter was swimming in the pool when a worker decided to come and just start tipping chemicals in without asking her to hop out, this should be done when the pool is closed of a night. The same man entered our apartment to look at our dryer without us even being advised which made us feel a little uncomfortable they should have checked this either prior to us staying or when we had departed the property they were aware the dryer wasn’t working prior to us staying. I have never complained about a property until now and I camp in some pretty rough places which was more comfortable then this.

Property run down. No manager on site. When manager was there didn’t speak English or should I say could but preferred not to understand what we had to say. We had to leave as the qld boarder was getting closed so we only there for 5 days not 14 and manager took all money for 14 days from us. Not just for the 5 days. RUN DOWN full of back packers making a lot of noise ever night and dnt care about anyone else in the place. But once again no manager on site at all to call and talk to will never be staying there again and will be telling family and friends not to stay there as it is a joke . Places like this should not be on sights like this . They make it sound great but it was a place I would not ever want to stay in again

Bit good but mostly bad - not worth the price

I gave this rating because the place need a huge clean and many repairs. The water didn't drain properly in the dishwasher so it smelled terrible, under the couches and between the couch cushions was filthy - we removed handfuls of dirt and debris from the cushions and swept out loads of dirt from under + bottle tops, hair + pair of old thongs! Rug was dirty. The oven leaked out old oil onto the floor. The kitchen was ill equipped, particularly with no oven trays for baking. Broom was ancient + filthy, pool was murky + full of debris. Re maintenance, not all the security screens met their locks, the bedside lamp didn't work, the dryer only worked for about 20 minutes at a time then kept turning itself off, was cracked and broken and after 90 minutes still left clothes damp, the washing machine leaked and there were no toilet brushes. The tv was tiny and only had normal free to air, and the signal kept dropping out so we had to keep fiddling with the aerial to make it work. Beds were hard and uncomfortable and pillows were old, rooms had lots of plastered areas, scratches, black marks, general wear and tear. While some aspects were good, like the brief service we got at check in (we stayed over Xmas so no one there for most of it), the extra car park we were given, the location, quiet, the free wifi which was a decent speed and the full sized fridge, good ensuite and otherwise decent kitchen, the number and type of problems means we wouldn't stay there again. Absolutely dirty.

One of the worse apartments i even been to . Cockroach everywhere i took the pics and show it to the manager . Who herself is so filthy. Dirty carpet, dirty linen, smelly towel. My kids start vomiting at the middle of the night. My daughter got eye infection. I book it for week but only stay 1 night and get another apartment in the morning somewhere else. Stupid manager didn't even refund my money. Ww request her to take half for 1 night and return half she didn't agree .poor service never ever go there again. Waste of money.

It was not as we were expecting as the room interior needs to be very much uplifted. Even the room cleanliness was not good.
The cutlery, plates and other equipments provided in kitchen is not satisfactory.
Sofas in the living room needs to be replaced. For our four days of stay and for four guests during that stay only one small bath soap and one roll of toilet paper was provided. Even the laundry soap liquid and dishwasher liquid also only one small sachet was provided in the room.

Would never stay again, room was very dirty, had to clean before we could use kitchen utensils,still blood on the fridge from last people,no curtains or blinds in the lounge and as we were on the bottom floor people could see in.cockroaches in and outside (hall).was given 3 towels between 4 people went and asked for more and was told I had to pay for it. Definitely did not look like what I saw online

Rooms needed some cosmetic repairs e.g. damaged walls, doors.

3 of us stayed for 3 days -no information available on site or web page about whether any of the amenities are replenished during the stay e.g. toilet paper or washing powder, supplied 2 x teabags & 2 x coffee satchels -no sugar-we found out the next day that no one comes to the rooms -which meant having to go to a supermarket to get toilet paper etc.

the advertising of the rooms is very confusing as the room I booked on Wotif (called a deluxe Riverside Room) had photos when you clicked next to it that showed you looking from the deck over the pool and river, when I arrived I found that i had a room without a view in the middle of the place. Obviously they get to play on the name \"Riverside\" rather than the room actually being riverside as such. The crockery, cutlery, pots and pans badly need updating and Sharp knives need to actually be sharp, at lease enough to cut tomatoes etc, apart from that the room was nice and clean comfortable and user friendly, having two bathrooms is something they should advertise more as it was a definite bonus

Apartment is very average condition, small shower with Hot/Cold taps separated, carpet is so dirty and wet. It is very noisy at night with all kinds of tourist people acting lunatic, there is no rule to keep those people calm at all. I will not go back to this apartment ever again

Good location, suitable for four people either 4 adults or 2 adults and 2 kids NOT five. The lounge room area has no block out blinds so sun comes through and neighbors can see in. Blinds had a lot of visible mould.
Fold out lounge is only suitable for small children. Was provided no linen for 5th person had to chase management for this.
No blinds on the sliding door, told it was double coated tint so no one could see in and would block light. Have photos showing this not to be correct. Thin white sheet was drilled in as temporary last minute fix. All other units had blinds. Was told management would fix this but had to chase them at 9pm at night when we had three kids wanting to go to bed. It would be a great unit of blinds fixed in lounge dinning kitchen area.
Mould should be removed from all blinds.

A baby and a toddler and a heap of steps in the property made it difficult going out and returning. Bedroom light would randomly turn on during middle of night waking us and our baby. Apartment had what we needed and close to public transport and shops. Street can be noisy with backpackers across Rd but wasn't too bad during our stay. And other guests in apartments were very quiet

Great location with a park up the road, Cavill Avenue only 10 minutes walk away and the beach close by also. Nice swimming pool and jetty to fish off the canal. Unit 5, ground floor two bedroom unit, nice layout, great side enclosed brick paved area for drying washing/ towels or let children play in for extra space, has fans and air conditioning in the lounge room. Sadly the furniture is very old, with drawers in poor condition. Cleaniness was very poor, cups and glasses were dirty and dusty, some old rubbish in the back of a cupboard and bathroom drawer. Poor attention in tidying the place between visitors. The blankets in one room weren't neatly folded so I wonder if it was washed? The ceiling fan light would randomly turn on at night and not sure if there was faulty electrics or perhaps the remote from upstairs apartment was affecting the downstairs unit. I wouldn't recommend or return to this place.

Terrible experience.

While Riverside is in a great location, our experience started with a non smoking room which you could smell the cigarette smoke from outside the window walking past the Unit. After talking with management, they offered to clean it again and later offered us another room as the smell could not be fully removed.

We were given the keys to another room which did not smell of smoke, however, the room was far from clean with dirty floors, smear marks on the walls and visable stains on the sides of the mattress and other furniture, uncleaned cooking equipment, no mattress protectors on the beds, thick dust in the cupboards and left over items from previous guests. They blamed the state of the room on having to quickly prepare it for our stay as we rejected the smoke filled room. However, many of the stains and dust seem to have been there for a while.

We contacted Expedia and asked for a refund based on the state of the rooms, they (Riverside Apartments) offered us $100 refund and another clean of the room. They then reduced this offer to $85.

After 4 hours of this, we decided to leave at our own expense.

Very clean hotel close to everything !

Very clean apartment however in the backpackers street so very noisy at night. Neighbours woke us every night with loud talking and laughing at 3 am and didn’t stop till 6 am when the party ends. If I was 20 it would have been better but I’m not so would rather sleep at night. But beach is 5 minutes away and suite was Very clean.

RELAX RECHARGE RESET

Great spot close to the city, beach just a short walk ,public transport. Very quiet spot very happy with location overlooking the river and city scape. Just required more toilet paper, dishwasher liquid as we stayed a while, otherwise perfect for our first time in the Gold Coast. We will be back in town June July so we look forward to next time very family oriented and relaxing holiday Inn.

Spacious apartments, plenty of room for 4 adults to comfortably holiday in. About a 10 minute walk to the beach and Cavill Ave, perfect if you want to be amongst the surfers atmosphere without actually being right in the thick of it.
Decent sized pool overlooking the river, and high rises, Great for a little people watch.
Check in was easy, as it was New Year’s Eve weekend, we checked in outside of office hours, simple instructions were emailed through prior to arrival on how to collect room and car park key from lock box at front of apartment building. Although, I didn’t see much of the staff, the lady I gave my key to at reception when checking out was lovely!
Would definitely stay here again :)

Air-con worked well, room under inspection was filthy, food scraps and bottle tops on the floor, no pillow protectors, old and torn pillows, mattress protector left with body fluid stains, pubic hair in shower and around toilet base, fluid stains on table tops, dirty glasses, food left in cupboard, used cotton buds in sink, filthy glass doors, cigarette butts and drink container left on balcony, cigarette ash swept into corner.
Woke up scratching - ended up scratching all day. We left room to go to a family Xmas day party arrived back late that day and had a good look at the room and found all these issues. Called management next morning (so others could have a good Xmas day) and explained issues they said they would fix all issues, we agreed to leave the room and be back by 3 pm they would get the cleaner in. We arrived back only a new mattress protector and 2 new pillows had been changed, there were no sheets, pillow cases. We called management and they the cleaners did the wrong room and laughed. It spoiled our Xmas experience at the Gold Coast.

Paint missing from the walls in the lounge room & bedroom. Out dated bedroom with sheets & bedding. 2 showers in a 1 bedroom unit, the main bathroom shower screen would not close well. The shower head was extremely powerful & uncomfortable. No view, into the next door neighbours backyard. Noisy in the afternoon.
Only good point was it was close walking distance to Surfers,

Week away with the kids

One of the lounges had broken springs, with 3 of us staying in the apartment it was pretty uncomfortable to say the least. The bottom bed in the 2nd 'bedroom' was so creaky it would wake all of us up through the night. The lounges were dingy, the floors grimey and the accommodation in general was a big let down.

All of these things were reported during our stay and the response wasn't too enthusiastic. They really need to spend some money on the basics here!

Worst accommodation ever

Rude managers, required a $200 security bond. Unit was dirty, moldy, smelly. Complained about the noise from our unit that music was too loud and we never had music. Complained about a party happening 2am-6am. We were at the beach watching the sun rise at 5:30am. Not worth the money.

Modern apartment and walking distance to Surfers.

Apartment was modern but our particular one required climbing quite a few stairs which could be an issue for disabled, elderly or anyone with lots of luggage. The apartment was average cleanliness and we would have preferred a curtain on our loungeroom door/window for privacy (surrounding apartments could see straight in). Parking was good. Attractions could be booked and paid for at reception which was handy. Next time would request river facing apartment as the one we got was not much of a view. Night view from bbq area downstairs was nice though.

Disgusting Accomodation and way over priced!!!

The accommodation was terrible especially for the price we paid. The \"delux\" two bedroom apartment was so run down and old, the carpet was coming away from the wall, there was no door to the ensuite bathroom, there was only one air conditioner in the lounge dining room and there was none in the bedrooms, there were also no fans in the bedrooms either so the doors had to be left open to try and get some impact from the lounge air conditioner. There was no toilet roll or holder in the second bathroom.

Useful apartment with awful bed

This was a 2 day stay during a trip down the east coast of Australia, we needed to do some washing and the hotel had a washer/dryer. It was spacious and comfortable, had everything we needed (except kitchen scissors which would have been handy)
I would say it was a bit dated, the only thing that really let it down was the bed and the pillows - old and very uncomfortable

The apartment hadn't been cleaned properly. Used tissues under the bed, corn chips and a centimetre of dust under the table in the lounge.
Not enough facilities in the kitchen to cook for 4 people. Didn't even have 4 glasses.
Shower was good although there was no exhaust fan in the bathroom.

Whole unit needed a good clean. Lack of kitchen utensils. Pool definatley not heated yet it claims twice on hotels.com that it is. Budget accommodation suited more for adults than families. Wifi service provided not by the establiment ; but advertised by them not so great.

A nice apartment close to Cavill Mall

The apartment itself was spacious enough for five adults. It was looking a little tired but it suited our needs. It is in a fantastic location with only a short walk to shops, restaurants and the beach. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating helping to make our stay more comfortable.

Noisy hotel that doesn't clean the showers

the shower had previous tenants hair on the floor, the hot water was more miss than hit, I ordered a queen bed and got a double which was hard as cement. There were no lights in the bedroom both bedside lamps had blown bulbs. The rude people in the next room allowed their kids to scream and yell the whole time. Horrible place, will never go back or recommend to anyone.

A cosy and comfortable stay!

I stayed at this hotel over a weekend for a getaway with some friends and we were pleased with our accommodation. Situated so close to Cavill Avenue and public transport links, we were really impressed with the location. Room was admittedly a bit dated, but this just promoted the 'homey' nature of the complex. We loved the outdoor pool with stunning waterfront views of the canal. Overall, a nice simple place to stay if you're not looking for anything too fancy. Good price for a good apartment.

This was a great little place for our family my expectation was value for money and just a clean little base for us to come home to. This is exactly what we got. Pleasant but not flashy clean and tidy. Pool was lovely and being able to have a fish off the jetty was fun. Had a great time and the air conditioning was a definate plus.

Check in was at 2pm and they allowed us to keep out big bags behind the counter so we didn't have to walk around with them all day. Hotel was cosy and tidy. Shops, bus stop to theme park and trams were all within walking distance. Had two minor problems. A pipe started leaking in the kitchen and we let reception know, they got it fixed asap. Also only one powerpoint for the tv and DVD player so they provided us with a double adaptor to watch both. Hotel staff were very nice. Only downside was having to pay to get fresh towels etc for our 6 night stay. Would definitely recommend this hotel. Was good for value and we enjoyed our stay.

Adequate but Overpriced

Our family of 5 spent 7 days at this apartment complex. The location and pool were by far the favourite of the family. 2 block walking distance to Cavill Avenue. Kids loved the pool. We were in Unit 6 with balcony access directly to the pool. Downside to this was being disturbed by people swimming past the 9pm pool closing hours. Upside was the great views of the river and easy access to the pool. Free carparking was also useful - security in general was adequate.

The apartment itself was adequate for the week's stay, but we would look elsewhere before booking again. Kitchen facilities were useful and had all we needed to have basic meals. 2 bedrooms housed our family of 5 well with 3 kids sharing a queen bed/bunk arrangement. However, the apartment could be cleaned better - some long term dirt accumulation. Linen was clean and fresh. Air conditioning was appreciated, as with the ceiling fan and floor fan in bedrooms. We had access to the clothesline which was good as our dryer kept tripping the fuse and we could not use it. It was not clean inside however, and the dishwasher had a funny smell that consumed the apartment. The master bed was particularly uncomfortable, with bed springs pushing through in parts - meant we woke with sore backs. Finally the paint on the ceiling kept flaking off randomly and would be on our bed or on the sofa as a plaster dust.

Our experience at Surfers Riverside Apartments was very pleasant. They rooms were very modern and tidy, had everything that we required. The staff were very nice and very helpful. The location was good. I will definitely stay here again.

Convenient accomodation close to Cavill Mall

Accomodation was in a good location with Cavill Mall less than 10 minute walk away. Woolworths and Coles 5 minutes away. Secure parking in basement. Our room had a bathroom and also an ensuite from main bedroom. Hotel had a swimming pool and BBQ, although we did not have time to use either of these facilities.These apartments are only serviced if you stay 8 days or longer, so once you have used the toilet paper for example, it is then up to you to purchase your own. Dishwashing liquid was provided in a sachet for a couple of days but then you had to purchase your own or get from them for .50cents each. I think it would be nice if they provided liquid dishwashing liquid in a bottle, even if it was only half full when you arrive, this would be more convenient.
There was no wooden spoon in the drawer, which would have been handy and also a scourer for doing dishes. I feel that the apartment looked a bit tired and needed some painting and the shower cubicles could have been a bit cleaner. However, overall we were happy with the place.

Prior reviews are fairly accurate. It is not brand new or 5 star, but it is cheap, very spacious and great location!

The apartment is worn and fairly old. We stayed 2 nights and rooms did not get serviced. A small drawer in the coffee table contained rubbish from a previous guest (including socks). The couches have not been vacuumed in the gaps between cushions.

However, this was one of the largest apartments I had ever stayed in on the coast. The main room had an ensuite. The spare room had two single beds and space between. There was a dining table area and a large U-shaped couch to seat six (or sleep another 2). A balcony ran the entire length of the apartment. Parking is free, undercover and secure via remote garage.

Bedding was clean, tiles and bathrooms were clean. Kitchen was clean.

If traveling from Brisbane, I recommend packing extra towels, toilet paper, cutlery etc.

Our family had a great time on the gold coast weather was fantastic the hotel was close to all public transport. We went to all the major theme parks kids loved them. coming back to the hotel and relaxing in the wonderful pool barbequing for dinner ended our days nicely.

Unit 13 review

We arrived from Sydney and reached the unit at 9pm. As it was a late check in, I was told that the keys will be in the key cupboard located outside. There was no key. I rang the after hours contact and was told to come to reception. Exhausted from the trip, I was told that \"the computer made a mistake\". The room wasn't ready as the 'computer' is saying that we were not suppose to check in until the next day! Despite the fact that I rang the day before and the same woman confirmed our check in date!!! The bunk bed is located in the lounge room. The bottom bunk collapsed because the slats weren't installed properly. When we asked to check out at 12pm, I was told that I will be charged $50 even after the inconvenience earlier.
Would I recommend this place???

Surfers Riverside Apartments

Absolutely brilliant!!! Apartments were spotless (we had 3 apartments over a family group of 9. Apartments had everything we could possibly need, pool and poolside view was amazing and the apartments were very central. We were a 10 minute walk to Surfers Paradise beach and Cavill Mall, and literally minutes to bus stops to all major theme parks. We had restaurants, shops (Woolworths) and bottle shops within an easy 2 -5 minute stroll. Management (Lily, the lovely manager) was very helpful with theme park bookings and storing luggage after we checked out and before flight took off and when one of our party managed to leave a suitcase behind, she was fantastic and organised a cab to bring case to the airport where we managed to meet it and still make our flight. Will definitely stay there again and would recommend apartments to anyone looking for a lovely, central, fully equipped place to stay. Fantastic for families!!Very impressed.

Was initially hard to get in touch with the manager as we arrived after 1730pm, but after being let in by some other stayers were able to get a new number took about 20 mins.
Apartments had a funky cabbage smell to it it was clean apart from the showers they were a bit grimy so i cleaned them myself but had a LOT of wear and tear and rooms needed a really good painting , there were marks al over walls and flooring paint peeling of everywhere but we were not going to spend much time in there really ok comfort for sleep. It did seem like they had a lot of younger groups staying there we were a family of 4 and there were a few nights they got a bit loud and kept us up but otherwise ok. The pool was not heated i think maybe pump was broken but a nice little area.
The lady who was working there was never really there on time she was never there at 830 am so was hard if you needed to get hold of her before you started your day.
Pictures on internet make it look a lot better than actually was but to be honest as a cheap holiday what do you expect and we spent minimal time in the apartment.

Footy Weekend

Surfers Riverside Apartments was just what we were looking for on our trip to the Gold Coast to watch the footy. Close enough to everything and just far enough away from the bustle of Cavill Ave.
My only complaint is that some of the materials supplied in the room were pretty out dated, such as the fry pans. Also, there was no milk pods supplied, so we couldn't have a coffee until we'd been shopping.
