Brilliant place to stay. The staff were excellent and very helpful. The pool and area was clean and the coffee cream amazing. Great distance from local shops, dining and beach.

Main lobby is well decorated and clean.
We did not use the pool so can't comment on that.
Front desk staff were very helpful during our stay. Unfortunately the room should have been cleaner and older aspects need to be replaced - bedding and towels were overall poor quality and unpleasant. Towels had holes and they were very old and need to be replaced. Bedding was stained and also poor quality.

Shower head needed replacement or a much better cleaning. Soap and shampoo was provided but the wall holder broke instantly and are not suitable for use.

Free street parking was available. And grocery stores, restaurants and beach walking distance.

Overall I don't think it is worth the price paid especially given poor towels , bedding and room cleanliness.

Karaoke and music from close by restaurant is heard nightly from the bedroom.

Gave us the only dark, no balcony room on the floor, (30+ apartments), FALSELY claiming the hotel was “full”, and refused to change the room, after our requests - while hotel parking was only 25% taken, we cold reserve 1 bedroom apt (the same we had) on 2 websites, for that day, w/o any problem …. Overal BERY BAD management - do NOT recommend …

Grim is the only word for it!

The room we had was very dated and we had a horrible view over the street. Bathroom was horrible!
Bed was comfortable and the air con was good.

Pool rules are no reserving sun loungers and opening times are 1000 to 1900.

Everyone abides by the pool opening times. No one was swimming before 10000 or after 1900 but every single sun lounger is reserved by 0800. Bizarre that one rule is followed and another is completely ignored.

I asked at reception and they were indifferent and really couldn’t care.

I don’t go on holiday to get up in the middle of the night to booked a sun lounger and then wait until 1000 so I can can lie within centimetres of a stranger.

This really is an unpleasant place to stay. However, it was busy so clearly other people are happy to spend their hard earned money on a holiday like this.

Very comfortable self catering apartment, large double bed upstairs and sofa bed in main room. Plenty of shampoo and soap provided also toothbrushes and toothpaste. Very efficient fridge and well equipped kitchen. Large pool and plenty of loungers. Great location near restaurants and bars, very short walk to nearby beaches. Was ideal for 3 girls. Would stay here again and recommend to others

Arrived after midnight but this was not a problem, receptionist was polite and helpful. We were given a larger apartment than was booked at no extra cost. Bedding and towels changed 3 times in the 6 nights we were there. All staff friendly and helpful. We self catered so cannot comment on the food. Lovely pool but easy walking distance to good beaches. Plenty of supermarkets nearby and loads of restaurants. If I had any complaint is that the hotel has no parking. We were off season so were always able to find nearby on street parking but this may not have been so easy in mid summer. In spite of this I have already recommended this place to others.

Clean hotel in amazing location.

Have stayed here twice now. We love the central location of the hotel - very close walking distance to some wonderful coves!! Great for swimming / jumping in etc The staff are friendly and attentive. This time we Arrived at the hotel very early but Unfortunately it was very busy and we had to wait till 3.30pm for our room. The hotel is very clean and the rooms are great for cooking in. We self catered and made use of the oven and hob - great selection of cooking utensils. Cala Dor has lots of restaurants and it is lovely to eat out but not particularly cheap. We love the sea so much we will return to cala dor again and again and if this hotel is the right price will return. The shower was lovely and powerful!! Would recommend the hotel if you are looking for clean accommodation a short walk from cala gran beach.

Exactly what we needed

Location was absolutely perfect, few mins stroll to beach and to restaurants and bars etc. we stayed in studio apartment which was spotlessly clean and exactly what we needed for our stay. Pool area was lovely. We didn’t eat breakfast there so can’t comment on food, but there was lots of options nearby if breakfast is not included. Reception allowed us to check in early and check out was no hassle at all. Can’t fault it.

We did not cook, although all there was a full oven and all the necessary utensils were available, choosing to eat out everyday. Downside, noise at night from the karoake bar nearby, although at midnight it is quiet.

It surprised us! I 100% recomend it

It surprised us how nice it was! Cala d’Or is a perfect place to stay, there are LOTS of restaurants, bars,... so there is a lot of social live in the town but at the same time it’s not loudy and it’s not a place like Magaluf where you only see drunk people. The appartments are just 5 minutes away from the center so at night is veey quiet. The swimmingpool was perfect! And the palm trees made it look like paradise! We love the lift because it was all cristal so you could see the outside and it was so cool. The appartment was big, clean, and nice. We had a kitchen with everything you can need to cook: microwave, pans,... then there was a very big double bed, so sooo big!m it could be for 3 people. The appartment had two floors: the one upstairs had the double bed and a bathroom with towels and the floor downstairs had the kitchen, a tv, two sofa-beds, a table and a balcony. Just as you see in the photos. We love it!

Short break in the sun

Sol Cala D'Or Apartments was a great place to stay. Our studio twin room, number 331, had a view of the pool, a south-east facing balcony with patio table and chairs and a well-equipped kitchen with kettle, microwave, oven, hob and plenty of cookware, cutlery and crockery. Towels were change once during the five days which was more than adequate.
It was a quiet stay, though there are night clubs near by, we didn't hear them. We were on a b. And b basis. Plenty of choice for breakfast both cooked and continental, omelettes cooked to order. The evening buffet, €12 if you wish to partake, also looked very good. You can eat breakfast inside in the restaurant or in the bar area, or in the patio area by the very quiet road.
The pool cafe/ bar also serves food and we had some lovely fresh salads there for lunch.
We went to relax by the pool and did so four out of five days. We also explore the nearby beaches, Cala Gran being our favourite.
Great restaurants in the city centre- Pirate was our favourite. Beautiful shops, clean streets and a lovely marina area too. We didn't leave the area during our stay as everything we needed was in the hotel or in the Cala D'Orrea.

Great location, Lovely room, spacious pool, friendly staff, varied food choices for each meal. Very good week overall.

Sun loungers are packed together so very cosy and the bar and restaurant lack character and atmosphere. No entertainment and therefore many on all inclusive are forced to leave hotel in evenings.

Our holiday was one of sightseeing each day, so we only used the Studio room for sleeping. The room its self was OK, if a bit small, we were surprised there wasn't a separate bedroom but two settees transferred into two single beds. The bathroom did not have an extractor fan nor a shelf for one's toiletries, which made things awkward for both persons. , We were located in Room 334 at the side of the building and whilst this wasn't the Hotel's fault, we were kept awake most nights until late by excessive loud music from two nearby establishments, perhaps if located in a different part of the hotel, this would not have been a problem. Plus the Air Conditioning generators on the roof opposite our room were also quite noisy resulting in having to keep the bedroom door closed, something you would not want to have to do in the heat of the summer.

Loved this hotel. Evening check-in was smooth. The receptionist on duty called Kurt was very, very helpful. Had dinner first night in the restaurant, there was a buffet containing a good selection of hot food. The young lady on duty in the restaurant was very pleasant and helpful. The room was clean. We liked the aspect of the two level 1 bed apartment; kitchen, living room and balcony on one level and the bedroom and bathroom upstairs. I heard the studio rooms are smaller. Grateful there was a kettle, 2 hob stove, oven and fridge (no microwave) in the kitchen. Annoyed you have to pay a few euros to borrow an iron/ironing board and remote to watch TV in room. Didn’t bother paying for TV, as you can watch it in the local restaurant/bars or use the hotel’s free WIFI on your Smart devices. (Get the code from reception). Hotel location is great. There is a handy SPAR shop next door, and a bigger supermarket not far up the road. Very handing for Self catering! Restaurants, shops and ice-cream parlours are all close. There was a cycle bike hire shop close too. The closest beach is about 5 minutes down the road. The hotel is not far from the local bus stop for buses into the capital city and other areas around the island. You pay for your bus ticket when you board. The only thing I would ask the hotel is to change the safe in the rooms to a 'pin code' locking system and get rid of the outdated lock and key safes for extra peace of mind for tourists please!

We have just returned from having a fantastic holiday, staff couldn't do enough to make our stay great. Apartments situated in an excellent spot, near to the centre of activities, such as shops, bars and beach but private enough to enjoy a perfect relaxing environment . Excellent value for money. I'd definitely go again its a lovely resort and clean apartments.

Fab place. A bit noisy round the pool between 12 and 5 but still room to move. Close to beaches and restaurants. Perfect base. Rent a car though. Gets a bit much if you can't get out. But depends what you want. Would definitely go back.

Amazing Apartment Hotel!!!

It was our last stop on our honeymoon, we asked for maybe something special, and they gave us an amazing room and an amazing stay. The place had everything we needed and was so close to the best beach there :) and, they even gave us good wishes on our new marriage with a note and some champagne :) If we ever go to Cala D'or again, we would definitely stay there :) ps good pool too :)

Nice apartment complex and pool near beach and cen

Cala D'Or is probably my favourite holiday resort of all and the Cala D'Or apartments was the first hotel we stayed at some twenty odd years ago. It hasn't changed much accept the large terracotta pots have gone from the swimming pool which is a shame as they were iconic. This complex is perfect for families as the rooms are spacious and comfortable enough. The pool is a good size with room for sun bathing or shade. It's also well placed for the beach, marina and centre.
The only downside on our recent stay was a rather unhelpful, grumpy, lady receptionist , but everything else was wonderful.
Yeah..... Would happily go again

Nice Aparthotel close to beach

Two storey apartment in good sized aparthotel. Kitchen was small but good enough for sorting breakfast and light lunches. Supermarket was conveniently next door. Very large and firm bed in large bedroom with en suite bathroom..nice shower over bath with plenty of hot water. The air-conditioning worked well and wasn't noisy. The pool was a good size and when we were there plenty of sunbeds were available although it is only a few minutes walk to a lovely little beach. The hotel staff including housekeeping were very friendly and helpful.

Apartments were well equipped and cleaned three times a week. Good size pool with plenty of sun beds. Hotel facilities were good with excellent buffet breakfasts. The beaches at Cala D'Or were within easy walking distance as were the shops and restaurants to suit all tastes. Bus stop approximately 200 yards away with regular service to Palma and other towns and resorts on the island. Due to a 'technical problem', our appartment wasn't available when we arrived late at night. We were accomodated in a studio appartment for the first night and then moved to the appropriate appartment the next morning. A complimentary breakfast was provided for each day of our stay as compensation for the inconvenience and disruption.

Another great holiday for third year running....

This was our 3rd time to Sol Cala D'or (see previous reviews from Aaron - North East England) and it was just as good as the last 2 times. Upon arrival we mentioned to the staff it was our 3rd year running and they upgraded our room to the top floor overlooking Cala D'or which was nice. Staff are very friendly as have been the last few years. We did an excursion to Cabrera Island which was worth every penny. The only downside (which isn't really much of a downside as we don't mind the noise) to the hotel is that from 1 nearby street has karaoke and the other side street has live music every night but it tends to quieten down after 11pm. Cala D'or itself is a fantastic which is why we keep going back. Loads to see and do locally with 7 beaches we have found so far all within walking distance (we are keen walkers). Even more stuff to do over the whole island if you don't mind cycling, bus, excursions or car. We go self catering and there are Spar shops on every corner with 2 main supermarkets within walking distance so no shortage of supplies.

Good For Basic Needs

This apartel is near the beautiful cala gran (2 small blocks). IT is in a touristy area so lots of people, shops, and restaurants nearby. There is a supermarket right next door and bigger ones in short walking distances so easy to buy necessary ingredients for cooking. The kitchen is nice with stove oven and a small sink. I had a one bedroom unit and the bed was... really not very comfortable... and I didnt dare to try the pullout sofa bed and the room was cold at night (and no comforter). Oh and my in room internet (which I paid extra for) did not work. So that was sad. But the place was spotlessly clean! Good value for money.

Another great holiday for second year running....

This is the second year we've stayed at Sol Cala D'or and again it was an excellent holiday. As before, the staff were helpful and polite. (check my review from last year) There is loads to do around Cala D'or and the surrounding area and the hotel is just about in the centre of the main 4 beaches, all of which are within 10 minutes walk and the harbour is about the 5 minutes away. Prices remain about the same as last year, about 10 - 15% higher than England which is probably to be expected. We did a few trips on the public transport and the bus timetables were very accurate and the busses are fairly cheap. If your not into public busses then excursions are OK also as we did Aqualand near Palma and it was easier on excursion than it would have been for the public bus. Also there's loads of snorkelling, scuba diving and sightseeing all close by or just a short trip away. We like it so much that we're going for a third trip next year.
Expedia did a great job of our booking and we'll be using them again. Well done expedia.....

Lovely family hotel

We have just returned from a 10 night stay at the sol cala dor apartments. We have stayed at this hotel twice before and have always been pleased with the hotel and especially love the location. My 4 year old daughter has coeliacs discease and requires a gluten free diet. I e mailed the hotel prior to our visit and they were more than happy to cater for her. We stated on a bed and breakfast basis and every morning they brought her a selection of gluten free bread and cakes. There was also a childrens club run by oscar who was always doing activities with the children. Every morning at 10.30 they had a craft activity and then through the day they played games in the pool. He worked very hard thoughout the day to keep the children entertained. There were always plenty of sunbeds by the pool and there was no charge for the beds. There is not really any entertainment in the hotel in the evening but there are lots of bars and restaurants near by which offer live entertainment . The only negative thing I would say is that a lot of the staff this year were new and a couple if them need to learn how to smile!!

On arrival we were advised that we had to spend the first night in a neighbouring hotel.it was a 5star so couldn't complain too much but a little aggrieved by the disruption. The following 13 days at this hotel were excellent. There were problems with the fan and we were visited by people attempting to fix fan on three occasions. Despite this we would recommend the hotel and would certainly go back if we were to return to cala d'or.

Great Apartment/Hotel in Cala D'or

Just come back (September 2011) from Sol Cala D'or Apartments. Apartment was exactly what I expected, clean rooms, friendly staff, clean pool etc etc. Location of apartment is pretty much in the middle of Cala D'or. Shops/restaurants/cocktail bars etc are about 300 meters away. Nearest beach is about 150 meters away with another 4 beaches all within 5 to 10 minutes walk. Loads to do, snorkelling, swimming, excursions to all over the island etc etc. We stayed self catering and found supermarkets to be about 10 - 20% dearer than England which is expected from a small island like Majorca. Small supermarkets are on just about every corner so no lack of food or supplies. Main supermarket (Eroski - bigger than Lidl's but smaller than Asda's) is about 10 minutes walk just on the outskirts of Cala D'or. This has been my 5th or 6th time to Cala D'or and it gets better each time. Friendly people (all of them speak some English so no language problems), loads to see and do, nicely hot without being too hot (September). We will definately be going back again. Booked it all through Expedia (apartment/flight/transfers to/from apartments) which was dead easy and the best prices. We will be using Expedia again..........

The hotel is in a good location of the resort and was extremely clean and well maintained. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the maid service was fantastic albeit only twice a week.

Food and drink from the hotel was decent and at a reasonable cost, although they charge 2 euro's a day to rent the sun loungers by the pool which I found quite obserd. Also, instead of just leaving a deposit for safe key's, irons etc you have to actually pay for them plus leave a deposit.

The hotel was nice and quiet of a nightime so no disturbances when you're sleeping and all the hotel guests were friendly.

I would recommend the hotel to anyone as long as they don't mind the fee's for things you would generally expect at a hotel.

Good points: clean, close to restaurants, shops, beach, roof terrace with jacuzzi
Not so good: first room we were allocated was very noisy - outside from nearby funfair and inside from whining water heater but staff did reallocate us (albeit a bit reluctantly!) and new room was much better!
Nice and laid back atmosphere - no 'dos and don't's'.
Perfect for the chilled out, inexpensive getaway break that we wanted!

Shame they nickel and dime you

The apartment complex was very nice. Staff was always friendly. However, guests have to pay extra for almost everything. Key to the room safe was over 30 euro with deposit. Microwaves, irons etc all come at a cost. oh, and if you want to lay by the pool, bring money because the chairs cost also. I arrived right after a big storm. That was the reason I was given for half the tv channels and my telephone not working. After 11 nights stay, they were still out. It's a shame that they nickel and dime their guests. It's a wonderful property otherwise

You get what you pay for!

This hotel is okay for the price. It is basic but clean and you don't get anything more than the most basic facilities. We were out and about all day and only staying 4 nights so for us it was fine, but I wouldn't want to spend a special fortnight's holiday there. Some of the staff were friendly, others were totally disinterested in their guests. Beds around the pool are chained up and have to be paid for (2 euros). There are some very noisy karaoke bars opposite but they stop at midnight. Those are the bad points, on the positive it is in a reasonable location, is clean and reasonably comfortable and well equipped. The studio rooms are tiny and beds are set up head to head! We moved out of one and into a one bed apartment which was much better. I couldn't recommend a studio room to anybody. But for the money and for a base from which to explore, it is okay.

Sentral beliggenhet til strand (Cala Gran) og sentrum. En del av hotellet ligger mot bargate hvor det var karaoke hver kveld med høy lyd frem til 00:00.
Fint og rent, god standard på rommene. Lytt mellom soverommene, kunne høre plystring og prat.
Bra bassengområde og stedet virker ny oppusset i resepsjon og frokostområde.
Bar og kjøkken ved bassengområdet.

Recepcionistas muy majas. Fuimos mi mujer y yo y estuvimos muy a gusto. Buen hotel. Lo único que cierran pronto la cocina y piscina. Repetiriamos sin duda!!

Estancia segura, cumpliendo con todas las medidas de seguridad frente al covid-19.

El personal muy agradable, pero queríamos destacar al socorrista de la piscina Alfred, muy profesional y amable, siempre dispuesto ayudar. A parte de guardar nuestra seguridad, se encargaba de desinfectar todas las hamacas cada vez que alguien se iba y siempre con la mascarilla puesta, pese al calor insoportable que hemos tenido toda la semana.

Lo único malo que diría es la comodidad de la cama. Hacía mucho ruido al moverse y no se descansa a gusto.

Las instalaciones están bien, y las habitaciones tienen de todo. El problema que veo es el servicio de limpieza, puesto que solo limpian cada dos dias y no a fondo, las camas mal hechas y la parte de la cocina ni la tocan. Creo que un aparthotel de esta cadena debería ofrecer servicio de limpieza también para la cocina. Cuando llegamos había una luz fundida, no funcionaba el mando de la televisión y el lavabo del baño estaba sucio. En resumen, no estamos muy contentos con la experiencia ya que se supone que estamos de vacaciones y no nos sentimos como si lo estuviéramos.

Super séjour à Cala d’Or

Séjour très agréable dans la petite ville typique de Cala d’Or. Appartement plus que convenable, avec terrasse vue sur la piscine de l’hôtel. Un peu d’animation le soir avec le bar karaoke juste en dessous mais que très peu dérangeant. Très bon rapport qualité prix! Nous n’avons pas pris de repas (ni petit dej ni dîners) au restaurant de l’hôtel car la cuisine de l’appartement est très pratique! Nous avons été ravis de notre séjour à Sol Cala d’Or Apartments, nous recommandons!

Zentrale Lage, fußläufig zu Strand und Innenstadt. Zimmer sehr geräumig aber schlicht und abgewohnt. Verpflegung: Frühstück ok mit sehr gutem Kaffee. Abendessen eigentlich nicht zu empfehlen; ist aber wohl auch dem geringen Preis geschuldet. TV Programm gut und kostenlos WLan.

Mycket trivsamt hotell med vänlig personal. Skicket på Hotellet är slitet men funktionsdugligt. Frukosten var bredspektra och det fanns något för alla. Nära till både centrum och strand.

Gefallen haben uns sowohl die tolle Lage des Hotels als auch die Gestaltung unseres Zimmers. Negativ ins Auge gefallen ist die Unruhe im Essbereich, die durch das ständige Um- und Abräumen vom Personal entstanden ist.
