Esmeralda is a large Ibiza-style villa filled with natural light, perfect for large families or groups of friends. The villa features two independent floors, each with its own living/dining room and kitchen.
The ground floor boasts a spacious, luminous open-plan living/dining room with direct access to the pool area. A foosball table provides entertainment for all ages.
The compact yet well-equipped kitchen also opens onto the pool area. Three double bedrooms, one with two single beds, also offer exterior access and share a shower room and a separate bathroom.
An external staircase leads to the upper floor terrace, furnished with a pergola, table, and chairs, and offering partial sea views. Inside, another open-plan living/dining room provides similar vistas.
A small, fully equipped kitchen serves this floor. Accommodation comprises two double bedrooms (one circular with two single beds and partial sea views, the other with an ensuite shower room and a small balcony overlooking the pool) and a twin bedroom.
A separate shower room completes this floor.
When you stay at Esmeralda Resort in Orient Bay, you'll be on the beach, within a 5-minute drive of Orient Bay and Grand Case Beach. This beach hotel is 10.3 mi (16.5 km) from Maho Beach and 10.8 mi (17.4 km) from Mullet Bay Beach.

I selected Esmeralda Resort expecting a refined boutique experience. Unfortunately, the reality fell materially below reasonable hospitality standards for this price category.
The only meaningful advantage of this property is its proximity to Orient Bay Beach. Beyond that, the experience was objectively disappointing.
The “continental breakfast” was inadequate in both quality and presentation. Options were sparse, execution lacked care, and it felt more like a budget afterthought than an amenity at a resort charging premium nightly rates.
Service was equally underwhelming. Hospitality should feel proactive and welcoming. Instead, interactions felt transactional and indifferent. There was no sense of attentiveness, follow-through, or pride in guest experience. For a boutique resort, this absence is glaring.
At this price point in Saint Martin, guests have numerous alternatives that offer materially better service, amenities, and overall value. This property does not compete in its current form.
In short: excellent beach location, but a product and service level that does not justify the cost.
I would not return, nor would I recommend it to travelers expecting a true boutique resort experience.

Check in was great, fast and efficient. I was in my room within 5 minutes of checking in, including the golf cart ride to my villa. After settling in I did my quick inspections of the room as far as cleanliness. The only thing that didn't pass my inspection was the floor. It clearly had not been mopped especially the bathroom. It wasn't a big deal to me at the time because I always wear slides any way so it was something i could look past until later on in the night when i needed to use the toilet. Ied down to line the toilet seat with toilet paper. Thats when i noticed the strong, pungent, undeniable scent of urine. When i took a closer look at the toilet seat there where dried up splatter stains from pee and also dried up pee stains on the floor around the toilet. At this time it was around 1045 pm so i knew housekeeping wasn't available and especially on this type of property. I tried to call the front desk, just to see if i could get some cleaning spray and paper towels or something so i could quicky clean the toilet in my bathroom myself, but phone didn't ring when i dialed the number to the reception. So i make my way to the reception to see whats going on. What i didn't expect was for the reception to be closed and the doors locked and a sign on the door stating \"no front desk staff is available after 10pm until 7am\". There 2 were numbers to call on the sign. One for reception and one for

The beach is absolutely gorgeous. The restaurant is very cute and the resort feels safe and secure. The rooms are a little on the older side and not sound proof. Loved this area and would totally stay here again if there was an updated room.

The hotel is old but kept in good condition. The location is near perfect. On our previous stays we enjoyed very much the beach cafe directly from the hotel. It had great service and food, plus tiki huts for rent. This time the cafe was closed for renovation and we had to use the next one were the beach boys were outright rude and the food is mediocre. Stay away from KKO beach!

Location is amazing! Staff is too! Swimming pool right outside the patio door, mini kitchen worked great. L’Astrolabe breakfast was perfect and dinners were too! Fridays and Mondays are a do not miss. A few quick minutes to the beach where your chair awaits, with staff to help you there! The beach restaurant’s food is also amazing! If you do not rent a car, it is easy to get a taxi. I used the same person the whole time. He was great. This property is lovely and I would definitely come back! There’s bird watching, the surf is perfect, food, entertainment for my style, bar, and no clocks. It is lovely.

Lots of insects in the room, some weather stripping around the door would help alot as you could see daylight around the entire frame. We came back to the room one afternoon from the beach and turned the water on for a shower and it came out brown so we opted for the pool instead. Later that day the water was fixed but it made us think twice about whether we should be showering and brushing our teeth with it.

The property is nice, but there are mosquitoes in the room and we were all bitten and have red spots next morning. The beach is nice but too rough and you cannot swim. I am glad we only stayed one night otherwise I will be so upset not to be able to swim in the ocean since I am not a pool person

The Esmeralda Resort/Spa is an ideal place for those that like a quiet, detached, peaceful, and less crowded type setting. Its situated behind a beach bar at the north end of the bay. Cabins of 4 units share their own pool, thus making it quite cozy and private to lounge in your \"own pool\". The restaurant is fantastic for the quality of the food and its staff. The staff were extremely helpful, friendly, and as a single traveler, they engaged in conversation but not too much so seem invasive. Do not mistake the restaurant for being low cost--it was not. It can be on the pricy end to dine there, yet well worth it. The included continental brunch, was sort of blah, as there is nothing but carbs, and more carbs to eat. A small bowl of fruit is provided, along with 2 types of cereal, teas and coffee. If eggs or meats or anything else beyond bread (too much bread) is desired, then there is a menue available for those items at a cost. I highly recommend Esmeralda and would gladly stay again.

We spent 5 nights in a Deluxe room in Feb 2025 and were pleasantly surprised by the size of the room! The bed was comfortable and we loved having the balcony to relax on. All of the staff were wonderful and so helpful. Very short walk to the beach and we appreciated that we had access to chairs at 4 beach clubs (KKO was our favourite). Short walk to Orient Village made dinners really easy. Great stay!

The special dinners on resort seem pricey but they were incredible. Breakfast we ate mostly at resort was delicious. Rooms are a little dated but nice. Staff on resort were very helpful. Had a couple power outages they were short it was whole area. Had trash pickup from resort next to us woke us up some night. Few minute walk to beach if you want clothing optional end about 30min walk. Really enjoyed my stay here was very quiet and relaxing.

The property is beautiful and the rooms are spacious (with a front door and a back door leading to a small terrace). The kitchenette in our room consisted of a microwave, sink, coffeemaker and small fridge. The pool was incredibly clean and there was a small area with a hose to rinse off (located near the gate to exit the pool area). It is a short walk from the property to the beach and towels were always available from the front desk staff. The cleaning staff did an excellent job daily and front desk staff were always helpful and friendly. The Astrolabe restaurant had a lovely atmosphere for dinner and the food was quite tasty. The free breakfast in the mornings included: bread with a selection of various spreads available, chocolatines, croissants, juice, tea, coffee, fresh fruit and some cereal options. The staff always provided a menu to order other items for breakfast for an extra fee (e.g. scrambled eggs and bacon). It was overall comfortable and a pleasure to stay at the Esmeralda Resort.

Esmeralda 12/2024 was ok ,time to village was misleading as stated,paying for chairs at Coco beach was disappointing, they are free at other places .Why Can't(esmeralda) make a deal with coco as they have with other places. Breakfast was not included maybe if you wanted toast? We stayed at La Playa Orient Bay in feb 2024 I would choose this resort without hesitation over esmeralda

It’s within the orient beach village so there’s access to restaurants and stores around the village. Very safe, the only draw back is that the beach closest to the resort is renting out chairs for 15€ each, it’s nice and clean but not cheap. You can walk further to other beaches where it’s free if you’re staying at Esmeralda, just a little bit farther walk on the beach.

Not quite what i expected but the villas were beautiful and clean. I was a bit disappointed with some of the hotel descriptions, coffee in room is 3 little instant coffee pouches and dried up coffemate that wouldn't desolve. We also had messaged ahead for a villa not too far as my husband has mobility issues, but ended up furthest away even though resort was very quiet and seemed half empty. Hotel also says beach chairs, however the beach club that is walkable to is not included. So we drove to Bikini beach club, (disaster) but Esmeralda Hotel guests arent allowed in the first row of beach chairs even if there is over 30 empty. Breakfast included is bread, pastries and fruit. Its not really beach front, its quite a walk to get ro any beach club or restaurant except for the one on the property. Not sure i would recommend this hotel, as we also stayed in Philipsburg and Grande Case which were definitely 5 star experiences.

This is our third stay at the Esmeralda . It is very close to the beautiful Orient beach. It is safe, quiet, and relaxing. The staff is wonderful. Their restaurant Astroble is amazing. We had a wonderful time.

This was our 4th time at this property. We love it. It was absolutely perfect for us - we love the individual pools per cottage. The Cocoa Beach was still not open, which was a bit sad, but the adjacent beaches were perfectly accommodating, walkable, and made it no problem. I look forward to what is coming at Cocoa Beach. We will be back!

Terrible sewage smell
We stayed in unit 522 for a week and had to put up with a terrible sewage smell all week. We reported the issue on day 1, and they sent maintenance to pour bleach down the bathtub drain, the smell kept coming up. Made our stay pretty miserable - and all we heard was that they did everything they could to fix the issue (pouring bleach was the only thing, and that’s not how you fix sewage problems).

We loved our stay at Esmeralda Resort! This property is the perfect mix of everything you want in an Airbnb (privacy, spacious rooms including a kitchenette with minifridge and silverware) but combined with the services you want from a hotel (daily housekeeping, fresh beach towels everyday, front desk staff for recommendations/help, and breakfast onsite included).Its a very short walk to Orient bay Beach, next to the best full service beach bar, Coco Beach. Location and property can't be beat!
