My preferred Ibis hotel across Switzerland. Well located near a tram station and not too far from the train station either. Rooms are clean, well decorated, staff is accommodating and proactive.

Met all my needs

I stayed for five nights during a solo travel trip. This modern hotel met my expectations with a clean, comfortable and quiet room. I always had a good night's sleep, and the breakfast choices were excellent and varied. I was doing a lot of rail travel with a Swiss Travel Pass and initially looked at hotels right by the main Basel station, but I'm glad I chose this one. Just a three-minute tram ride to get there from the station and a five-minute walk from tram to hotel (the hotel provides a free transit pass). Another tram stop even closer to the hotel gets you directly to the city centre in just a few minutes. This hotel would be my first choice if I ever return to Basel.

Reception very friendly. Room AC capped to 23°C which was slightly too warm, but apparently common for this chain of hotels. I personally like the room cooler, so this would prevent me rebooking. It was much cooler outside, so the ability to open a window would have circumnavigated this.

Breakfast that was included was ok - pretty standard for a chain hotel buffet.

Really good location for the football, a little bit out of the centre of Basel but easy enough to get in on the tram (which is free with the Basel card that the hotel gives you). Room was nice enough and clean.

We did have an issue at check-in where another guest had been booked in under our reservation, but the front of desk staff quickly resolved the issue and gave us a free drink for the trouble - would stay again if in Basel.

On arrival, we were early but our room was ready. The receptionist was really friendly and informative surrounding the hotel and the local area. The room was nice and big, with two separate beds and a separate bathroom. It was quiet. The only thing I would have liked would have been a kettle in the room but there was free tea and coffee in the reception but not for first thing in the morning. And a fridge would have been nice but I am being picky now because its so good. The bar was really nice to have a drink in at the end of the night. They let us borrow an umbrella to go out in during the day. Like I said, very accommodating and really friendly. Great stay. Should have stayed here the other two nights we were in Basel!!

Clean, modern room and the hotel was really quiet at night. Breakfast was good with plenty of options. Staff were friendly and helpful. Only negative was the shower gel was running very low and not filled up and only two hangers in the wardrobe which was not enough for our five night stay. Location was ok, not many eating places next to the hotel but only a short walk to the train station where there were great transport links and places to eat. Around 15 minutes to walk to the centre of Basel but there was also a tram stop near the hotel. The hotel gives you a free travel card to use on the public transport around Basel which was great.

Best budget hotel in town

I used to live in the city years ago, and go back a few times a year to see old friends. Nice, newer hotel of the three located in this area, with good breakfast, nice drinks for apéro hour, good and prompt service.

Lovely hotel, close to transport into Basel. Free Basel pass given to us which gave us free transport. Nice size room, 2nd bed if you have 4 people is a sofa bed which isnt as comfortable as a normsl bed. Breakfast was great ... the kids loved the haribo on offer st breakfast!!!

Comfortable stay. Rooms are big enough for two only, but good comfortable beds. Breakfast was good quality with a decent amount of choices (eggs, baked beans, yoghurt, fruit, cheeses, meats, sausages, juice, tea and coffee). Tram stop was a short distance (4-6 min walk) which was convenient.

Great option in Basel

We stayed for 1 night to attend the Swiss Indoors tournament. The hotel staff were very helpful, the room was very nice (although the bathroom door which was 2 sliding doors) did not close completely leaving a small gap, the breakfast offered a wide variety of choices (including healthy options), and the location was central to our needs. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you’re looking for a mid range option in a central location, particularly if you like to walk.

The hotel was modern, clean and welcoming. However, the room temperature was very uncomfortable. Too warm and can not control room temperature. Apparently, in the wintertime hotel controls temp centrally leaving guests no way to lower the warm room temperature. Our group occupied 7 rooms and everyone had the same experience.

Value worthy hotel

This is the best ibis hotel that I have stayed so far. The room is spacious enough and clean though amenities are not that much which is expected.
It takes less than 5 min's walk to bus #11&15 which can bring you to most attractions of the old town.
Only drawback is the breakfast quality and variety but we already get used with ibis!

Cleanliness, friendly staff, and WiFi access are positives for the hotel. Location is good and the variety of the breakfast items are also quite good. There was no wash cloth or lotion in the bathroom. The hotel should be able to provide those basic items.

Ibis styles was a good value choice. It was about a 10 minute walk from the main train station and 25 minutes walk to the old town aliough team stop was about a 5 minute walk also. You have to pay tourist tax but you do get a Basel card that gives you free transport and other perks during your stay. Also when traveling from the airport if you have a copy of your hotel reservation you don't need to pay for the bus saving a few francs.

Booked a room, phoned the hotel to confirm my late arrival. Checked in at desk at midnight as planned only to learn that they had arranged a \"special\" treat room for me at another hotel 4 blocks away. The last thing i wanted was to haul my luggage to another hotel at midnight. Frustrating!

A hipper Ibis option

This is a great hotel! Consistent with the Ibis brand, the room is dependably clean and basic, however the Styles sub-brand within Ibis adds flair, making the experience hipper. The staff is fantastic and super helpful. It is close to the 15 and 11E trams, as well as walking distance to the SBB - minus heavy luggage, that is. ;) We would stay again in a heartbeat - and likely will!

Worried about the 2.5 star rating but we were very surprised, the hotel room was large, modern and extremely clean. Bathroom was the same fantastic everything you could require. Much better than the 4 star hotels we had stayed in. The TV channels were fantastic all BBC and ITV current channels available fantastic bonus. The area is 5-10 min walk from bus station, there's not a lot around there.

This is a new hotel and very clean and organized and the building and fittings are really high quality. The fittings in the room are much better than the more Spartan (and cheaper) Ibis budget just around the corner. Its also quieter at night because its further away from the tram and train tracks.

Clean, simple but perfectly good hotel

No quarrels with value for money. It's very clean and new, with really comfortable beds and a great shower in the bathroom. Some may find the furniture a bit too modern Ikea, but that's a taste thing anyhow and in terms of the basics even my over 60s parents couldn't find anything to complain about! The hotel provides no kettle in the room, but has a refrsshment nook where you can get a cup of coffee/ hot water at anytime - so bring your own teabags. The town provides a so-called mobikity card throughout your stay for every guest so yiu can use all the (excellent) public transport and shouldn't in my view need any taxis. The airpirt bus on the way back is therefore included on the way back. Bus takes about 15 mins from the main station and everything is ever so clean and efficient and on time...

Hotel easy to get to from the train station and only takes 10 minutes to get into the main town on the tram. Really good that free travel is given to people staying at the hotel. We were worried there was no tea and coffee making facilities in the room but this was available for free in reception 24 hours. Breakfast had lots of choice.

Good quality hotel in a good location

This hotel is very good for the price. The room was very clean and the whole hotel was really well decorated and fitted out. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Tomas on the front desk who was brilliant!
The hotel is located about 10-15mins walk from the main centre, but the included city travel pass means jumping on a tram is really quick and easy. Overall, a fantastic hotel and very good value for money.
