Good Location - Don’t Stay in Room 25

Returned from full day of sightseeing, FOB didn’t work (10:30 PM). No one answered call via call button. Thankfully, fellow guest let me in. WiFi is complete rubbish in common areas. Groceries were discarded prior to my departure (staff gave me complimentary salad-yum!). No electrical outlets/USB by beds. And, yes beds are RIGHT next to each other-bit weird. Pros? Place is clean, good location, nice vibe and staff are helpful. Free metro pass. Skip overpriced breakfast! (Hopefully, you won’t get room 25. Long stay resident with ticking clock-you’ll feel like you’re in Peter Pan’s Neverland.)

Modern, clean, staff were helpful and kind, and moderately inexpensive. The only negative was the walls were thin which we had loud neighbors the first night but it was a great place to stay.

Excellently equipped kitchen, super easy to get to from train station, beautifully decorated common areas, good value on good variety breakfast if you want to purchase it (optional). If you have never stayed in a hostel, stay in this one and you will not be disappointed, promise. I've been budgeting traveling for three decades and I've seen just about everything. I really hated to leave Basel, and leaving this hostel was one of the reasons.

Nice and quiet neighborhood, reasonable price for a breakfast buffet, convenient location as close to train station. Just the front desk didn't bother to tell me how to operate the blinds, luckily I figured that out by myself.

Clean, new and comfort hostel

Everything is perfect. The room is very nice. This hostel is the best I have ever stayed. Staffs are very kind and helpful. However only one girl staff is not friendly compared with the others.

Very happy for this hostel experience in an urban environment -- when we arrived the bathrooms needed cleaning and this may have been due to the federal holiday -- later, all bathrooms were cleaner -- rest of the facilities very clean --- nice, private room for our family, helpful staff, kitchen and laundry available -- reasonably priced breakfast

The staff was great. The city I'd beautiful, the hostel is well thought out, clean, and pleasant. Only complaint, not enough electrical outlets in the dorms. Overall a great experience, though. I would absolutely recommend generation ymca!

Perfect if you need to get some work done!

No AC, but it's not really necessary. Staff is extra helpful and the location is only a 5 minute walk from the main train station. The kitchen facilities and other common areas are incredible-- stylish and spacious. They really thought of everything.

Decent enough place to stay

Check in was good. The dorm was ok, was a room with a bunk bed and one single bed, but would have liked a double. Showers were ok. Kitchen was nice as was the social area. Good wi-fi. The main downside was it was very noisy from 5 am which woke us up. Close to main railway station.

Fun communal space and super helpful staff!

This was our first time staying in a hostel, and it was really fun! The community spaces are stylish and inviting, and the staff helped us whenever we asked for anything. The room was a bit sparse and there is no air conditioning, so we were thankful for cooler weather. Room came with a Basel Card that would have given us free public transportation and discounts on area museums... this would be good to let travelers know beforehand, as it is a nice amenity.

Consistently good hostel.

This is the second time I've stayed at this hostel and its nice to know my last good experience wasn't a one off. Again the staff were very friendly and helpful, the common area chilled and the kitchen well equipped. The cleanliness of the room and bathrooms couldn't be faulted and the breakfast is good value for money. If back in Basel I'll use this place again.

The staff were lovely and friendly even though I only arrivedate and night and left early in the morning I enjoyed my stay. After 10hrs of travelling the common area is a very chilled place to unwind. Will definitely be staying there again. Good value for breakfast as well.

Meh.

What is with the beds... they make it so you are almost sleeping in the same bed with a stranger. The top bunk was only separated by a half meter board at the top by the heads.
Otherwise a clean place that is cheap.

So so

The hostel itself is a bit dated. The rooms are not ensuite which is a bit annoying especially in the middle of the night as you need to remember your key card for the room to get back in. The room layout was a bit strange also. My bed was on one side of the room but my cupboard was on the other side so it was not very convienet. There are also not many plug sockets, just a lot of extension cables which are very dangerous if they are over loaded. Also, if you are on the top bunk it is difficult to charge as all the cables are near the floor. The staff were very nice and helpful. The hostel is only a short walk from the train station and about a 15 minute walk I to the town centre. The area is quiet but there is some local schools nearby so children can be heard running about screaming very early in the morning.

Excellent location. Mins away from station and town. Quiet location. Room big and clean. Family room that has a sliding door to split into two bedrooms. Free coffee in dining area and nice outside space/kitchen garden. Great base for sight seeing. Shared Kitchen so you can cook of you like. Excellent value for money. Would use again.

Convenient, friendly and functional

I spent 3 nights here as a female lone traveller, making a hostel a great option for meeting others. Staff and guests were wonderful, there was free hot drinks which were well stocked, staff very proactive at keeping the place clean and running smoothly.
The all female room is was in was a good size, with a large locker. The sheets were impeccably clean and fresh, and plenty of ventilation in the room

Most cost-effecitve hostel

I have stayed in Switzerland for 15 days with 8 hostels. YMCA Basel is the best, not one of the best, but the best.

Usually hostel will have either a kitchen or breakfast buffet. YMCA generously provides both - so you can cook for your lunch/dinner, while in the morning when you might be in a rush to head out, you may just grab a quick breakfast, which comes with full breakfast - bread, yogurt, croissant, tea, oat, fruit, juice and more.

The kitchen is very big with all the facilities that you may need, clean and modernized. The location is just 5 mins walk from the train station. Rooms are clean and spacious. The common area is huge and equipped with big and wood tables.

Location is great near the main train station. If arriving by train head away from the city sign & the exit leads you to the street that the hostel is on.
Clean kitchen. Complimentary croissant, tea/coffee & juice in the morning.
If you are sharing a dorm with other travellers think twice about turning the main light on when you come in late or starting a conversation while others are trying to sleep. Getting up at 3.30am to catch a plane is fine but don't keep hitting the snooze button, rattling plastic bags & turning on the light. Get ready the night before.

I was so impressed with the quality of my stay at the YMCA Hostel Basel. I booked my stay the morning of which was coincidentally during Art Basel. Even so, the prices were surprisingly reasonable. I arrived at the hostel early in the morning the day of check-in, tired and sweaty. Even though my bed wasn't ready, they let me take a shower and leave my luggage behind the counter before I had checked-in; the staff were so helpful and sympathetic. I got to connect to the WiFi and eat a bit of the free breakfast buffet before starting my first day of sightseeing. When I checked-in later that evening, the beds and room were clean and comfortable.

The facilities at the YMCA Hostel Basel are first class! They have a free computer for guest use as well as free WiFi; plenty of bathrooms and showers; bedrooms with individual lockers; comfortable bed linens; a free breakfast buffet; a free travel card to use on all public transport in Basel. Everything in the hostel is kept so clean as well. I completely enjoyed my stay in Basel thanks to this Hostel and its staff. I would recommend this to anyone!

disappointing

They held my bag before check-in, which gave a great first impression-- after that it was a big disappointment. I was given \"an upgrade\" from the double room with shared bathroom that I booked. What that meant is that I was pushed to the property next door (\"Stay Basel\"), an aged and sorry substitute for the renovated room shown in the booking photos. The windows were above the courtyard, where people smoked at all hours. The heat didn't work. There was a full kitchen and beds to accommodate 4 people, which went to waste for this solo traveler. If not for oversleeping/missing check-out, I would have left for another hotel on the 2nd day.

We planned an overnight stay in Basal and found the YMCA and decided for one night we could bunk in together, 8 adults. We were not sure what we getting ourselves into but we're so pleasantly surprised. We had our own room with a sink only but the bathroom and shower rooms were very clean and close by on each floor. We each got a key to lock our room. We felt safe with room and building secure.
The YMCA is just a few blocks right out the back door of the train station where we got off the bus from the airport. Our room was ready when we arrived at 3:00pm. The facility and our room was exceptionally clean. The staff we very friendly and helpful.
We were surprised that tea, coffee, juice, rolls and crousants were available for breakfast. Very simple breakfast but we didn't expect anything at all. A very clean kitchen is available to put your own groceries and fix your own food.
We were very impressed and would highly recommend this YMCA. There were other families staying here as well individuals traveling by them self.

This hostel was great for our stay. We arrived early and they let us leave our luggage at the front desk so we could see the city unhindered by our stuff! Close to the main Basel train station, a nice neighborhood with groceries and restaurants nearby!

They made me pay twice! +city taxes and bank fees

I think this people are dishonest.
They made me pay twice at the check in, although I showed them my payment confirmation email and when I came back because of hotel.com debit on my account they pretended that everything was normal and it's only when I came back with proof of two payments that they admitted their mistaken and they didn't even apologize, they were acting like it was usual.
Also there was a city tax not announced in the reservation.

Bel posto, molto curato con tante piante e arredamento caldo in legno. Il personale molto amichevole e gentile.
Ho dormito in una stanza condivisa e anche quella è dotata di tanti confort per garantire comunque la privacy, ho dormito molto bene entrambe le notti!
In generale ci sono tanti piccoli dettagli pensati bene.
I prezzi della colazione per un italiano sono un po’ alti ma hanno delle ottime cose fatte in casa e sono in linea con i prezzi di Basilea.

헤어샴푸는 달려는게 있고 샤워용은 없으니 챙기세요

사물함 크게 있어서 자물쇠 달면 귀중품 넣기용이합니다 사람이 차있을경우 인원수랑 안맞아서 다른방 분이 건너와 사물함을 써서 처음에 다른분이랑 공유해야했습니다. 옷걸이는 사물함당 두개씩 걸려있어요

하루만 묵고 가는분이 많고 제가 있을때만 그런건지 특히 여성전용 도미토리는 잘 안차는거같아요. 널널하게썼어요

침구정리와 수건교체가 기준을 모르겠어요
사람들 있을때 하루이틀은 되더니 중간에 사람들이 나가고 혼자쓰게된 시간이 많았는데 혼자쓰게 된 후부터는 침구정리랑 수건 교체를 따로 안해주시더라구요. 대부분 하루묵다 가는분이 대부분이라 좀 길게 도미토리쓰시는 분들은 수건은 매일 따로 가서 받으셔야할거같아요.

코드선이 멀리있거나 위치가 안좋아요

식당주방 쓸수있고 대부분 조리도구 접시 등 다 갖춰져있어요

위치 역이랑 가까워서 좋아요. 약국이랑 마트 까페등 가깝게 위치해있습니다.

개인적으로 의사소통 문제로 결제문제가 생겨 있는내내 신경쓰여서 좋은느낌은 받지 못했습니다. 직접결제한 직원과의 연결이 어려웠던점 아쉬워요. 결국 묵는 기간에 해결 못하고 추후 예약업체와 문의해서 해결했습니다.

개인적인 의견으로 도미토리룸은 하루 머물기는 괜찮은거 같아요.

Rolig hostel nært stasjonen.

Vi var på gjennomreise og trengte et hotell nært stasjonen. Dette var perfekt. Vi fikk en liten leilighet med to soverom (ikke kjøkken) og bad. Litt gammelt og slitt, men perfekt beliggenhet i forhold til stasjonen. Rolig område. Meget hyggelig betjening og fine fellesarealer. Felles kjøkken der man kan lage mat.

部屋は清潔で、キッチンも自由に使えてとても便利でした。ただ、設備の説明が最初になかったのでフリーの水があることに最終日に他の人が利用しているのを見て気づきました。最初にこのサーバーは何か何度も聞いたのにスッタフの方は一言もそれについて教えてくださいませんでした。最初の日に説明してもらえたら、もっと便利だったのに。残念です。それ以外は全然問題ありません。快適に過ごせました。また利用させていただきます。

Gostei do fato do hostel ser perto do trem e fácil de chegar (e do ônibus que vai para o aeroporto): basta pegar uma reta a partir da porta dos fundos do SBB,
A mocinha que me atendeu foi sempre muito gentil e atenciosa na hora de conceder as informações.
Pedi para reservar a cama do andar térreo da beliche e quando cheguei a cama estava lá reservada. Isso foi importante para mim.
Poder usar a cozinha é bacana.
O hostel é limpo, confortável e tem armário para poder guardar a bagagem.
Uma coisa que observei foi: no site dos hoteis.com o horário do ingresso no hostel é um e lá (a partir das 15 horas) é outro. Isso não chegou a ser um problema, pois existe um quarto onde nós hóspedes colocamos a bagagem para em seguida partimos para o passeio.
Outra coisa bem legal é você se hospeda na cidade e ganha um cartão para poder usar o transporte público em Basel sem precisar se desfazer dos seus francos suíços; cortesia da cidade.

Når man bare skal have en seng at sove i

Man får en seng på en sovesal, og så er det ikke godt at vide, hvem eller hvor mange, man skal sove sammen med.

På min sovesal var der en anden dansker, der ligesom jeg stort set ingenting sagde, så det var fint nok.

Ellers ville jeg nok sige, at det kunne være en smule utrygt at sove sammen med en masse mennesker, man slet ikke kender.

Jeg var der kun en nat.

Er man en familie eller en gruppe venner, og man kan få sovesalen for sig selv, er det en billig måde at overnatte på.

Morgenmaden er ikke inkluderet i prisen.

떠나기 전에 미리 다 예약해서 첫 투숙일에서 2일후 다시 묵게 되었는데 남자 직원이 전에 묵었던 방과 같은 방을 주길래 맘에 만들어했더니 금방 다른 방으로 바꿔주고 안내도 잘 응대해줌. 체크아웃때도 불편한 점이 없었는지 다시 물어보고 응대함. 호텔 시설도 영향이 있지만 손님에게 친철한 것이 호텔에서 얼마나 중요한지
참 짐 맡기고 2일동안 다른 도시 다녀왔는데 보관료 인당 5프랑 받는다 참고하시길

바젤공항 밤 도착으로 11시경 호스텔 도착했는데 여자 직원의 안내 전혀없고 수건도 주지않고 심지어 시티세 잔돈도 제대로 받지 못해 방에 갔다가 다시 내려가 잔돈 거슬러 받음 바젤 첫인상 아주 별로로 만듦

굉장히 좋고 싸고 서비스도 좋고 위치도 좋습니다.
걸어서 바젤 sbb 역에서 오분정도 걸리고 방 내부 깨끗하고 화장실 샤워실 깨끗하고 수건 무료로 빌려줍니다. 헤어드라이기도 무료로 빌려주고 일층에 키친 및 커피포트 무료로 이용가능해요. 그리고 머무는 기간 체크아웃 인 하는 날포함해서 무료로 버스티켓주고 지도로 무료로 다녀올수있는곳 및 갈수있는곳 설명도 해주고, 직원 서비스 너무 착하고 좋아요!

너무 좋았어요. 바젤 중앙역에서도 가깝고 호스텔 시스템이 잘되어 있었습니다. 조리시설이 갖춰진 공동부엌이 있어서 근처 마트에서 장보고 끼니 해결을 잘했습니다. 다음에도 또 오고 싶은 곳이에요!
