Modern chic hotel operated by super helpful people at the lovely quarter of Basel! 3 of us stayed 4 nights in Garden View Suite with washer/dryer + ample water shower and couldn't be happier. Most of the city's main attractions are within walking distance and strolling on many little passages throughout was a lot of fun. Tram#3 stops directly in front of the hotel, which easily connects with Tram#8 or #11 to Basel SSB main station. One advice is to bring Type J adapter for charging. We sincerely recommend the stay at SET:-)

This hotel was just average from my perspective. Pros - great location. Pretty quiet given the tram runs out front. Close to a tram stop. Hotel gave us tram passes which was nice. Rooms are large. Cafe in lobby is pretty good. Cons - Very sparsely decorated. Rooms showing some wear. Felt cold (and ironically the heat didn’t seem to work in our room either). No extra blankets in room. Service wasn’t overly friendly or accommodating despite a seemly pretty empty hotel. Beds are pretty firm and not overly comfortable.

Overall, I’m really surprised this is a 4 star hotel and that the ratings are so high. I would call this an average/adequate hotel, at best. It was fine for one night for us but there wasn’t anything about it that really impressed me.

Excellent room and hotel, and would love to go back. Excellent service, design and location. Felt at home and also enjoyed the communal spaces such as lobby/bar area, garden and gym. Very welcoming and nice to relax at. Very nice location too, easy to walk to key attractions, restaurants, bars , the river and great access to public transport. Beautiful room and very comfortable too. Plus points for the bikes and the travel card for free public transport and discounts to key attractions. Thank you. Will definitely return :)

We stayed in the new annex across the street from this historic hotel. The room was super clean, modern and quiet. It had a beer bar and small cafe in the ground floor. English speakers on staff were excellent. We ate in the historic restaurant and that was great, if pricey. Easily walkable to campus and old part of town with classic architecture. Right on tram line. We stayed one night before getting on Rhine River Cruise.

We only stayed one night before our flight back home, but from what we say the property was very nice. Clean and big rooms, modern bathrooms, quiet neighborhood - if you arrive by car watch out for the speed trap just before you arrive at the hotel! As with many hotels in Basel, they provide you with a card for free local transportation, very useful.

Fantastic location- trams we’re easy to learn, #3 stopped less than a block from SET and it was easy to transfer to go wherever we wanted. Trams and buses were free with the Basel Card provided by the hotel. The Basel Card also gave us half-price entry to all the museums. Daily cleaning was available and appreciated. Staff spoke excellent English and were friendly and helpful. Loved having a kitchen and dishwasher, especially since restaurants were very expensive. Also great having a washer. Only negatives were that the dining room chairs were very uncomfortable, not enough light in the living room and the bedroom, top kitchen cabinets are the same size as lower cabinets, so you have to be careful not to bang your head when you use the sink. Nice to have coffee for Nespresso machine, tea bags, sugar, and cream provided. Be aware that items in the small refrigerator and on the counter are for purchase not a welcome gift. Bed was comfortable. Would stay again.

We had a wonderful stay here. We were made to feel welcome as soon as we arrived there. The front desk person walked us to our room. The room was very clean and comfortable. The bed was comfortable. Gym was modern and clean. Breakfast was delicious. We had dinner there also and the food was also delicious. The location was right by a tram, so easy to get around town. I would highly recommend this hotel and stay there again.

The front staff new my name from the time I walked in the door and were quick to follow up with me on my plans and make sure I had the best experience in Basel possible! Great stay for a family trip

Very comfortable room for our small family. It even included a full kitchen and the bedroom partitioned off from the living area where our son slept on the pull out bed. The hotel is located on a quiet street in a beautiful neighborhood which is and walkable to loads of shops and restaurants. The tram system is also very simple - no need for a car to explore the city.
We arrived by car and the hotel offers parking for a fee at an off site garage which is a few blocks away.
The breakfast (add'l cost) is very nice and is at the restaurant across the street. Eating out is pricey in Basel (Switzerland in general) so the price seemed fair.

The hotel location is fantastic, 'trams go through the hotel!'
I loved the character of the hotel, the staff were friendly, knowledgeable and fun. The 'roof walking artwork' aligned well with the many hidden depths that this hotels has, three restaurants, onsite brewery, great food, and a well stocked bar.

The hotel is very modern and is the moderate priced hotel across the street from the higher priced Teufelhof Hotel across the street. The staff was terrific and tried very hard to please us because of the following problems: the room we unknowingly booked was on the 4 th floor and had sloping ceilings which meant that you hit you head if you got up in the middle of the night; the moderate priced restaurant ( part of the hotel) at which we had counted on eating was closed for a private party.

We loved our stay at SET. The location is perfect for exploring town. The hotel also offers complimentary use of its ebikes. The breakfast selection was varied and delicious, and reasonably priced. The rooms are modern, clean and very spacious. Overall an excellent stay! I’d recommend to my friends and family. Hopefully we can visit again soon!

The room was spacious, clean and the shower was excellent! Huge and plenty of hot water. Toiletries plentiful. Room very quiet - did not get disturbed at all.
Breakfasts good - best croissants I have ever had!
Staff seemed genuinely keen to please.
Only downside is that there is no sign on the outer door of the building - so I did not know it was the right place - it is just a solid wood door. I had walked up and down the street several times trying to locate it.

This is an exceptional property. It is not really a hotel room but rather a full-blown studio apartment complete with kitchen (stove top, fridge, sink). Everything is brand new--in fact, the place appears still to be in the process of completion. The bedding is the best I have ever seen in the world--exceptional quality mattress, pillows, and luxurious cotton bedding. The flooring is all natural wood, furnishings quite minimalist but obviously high quality/artsy. The reception/breakfast area is spacious, with adjacent room and a walled garden with tables outside. Downstairs is a fitness room with all kinds of machines of which I didn't have time to avail myself. The staff are outstanding--I arrived after 11 pm my first night and I was starving after a long journey. The reception person rounded up some food for breakfast (cheese, bread, muesli, etc) to tide me over until morning. They printed my conference paper and boarding pass. They extended my stay at a reduced price. I don't have enough superlatives to describe this place. It is an understated, upscale, fabulous accommodation. It will not be to everyone's taste--it has an artsy, minimalist, loft-style feel to it, and could feel cold and uncomfortable to some accustomed to traditional, older hotels, with well-appointed furnishings and carpeting. But this old crone (66) absolutely loved it. The only negative--and a small one: the breakfast should be upgraded to match the quality of the facility.

Hotel Teufelhof’s new addition, Hotel Set, located directly in front of the older hotel is a brand new hotel very refreshing in every way. Large rooms, polished cement floors etc give it a very modern industrial feel. Service is excellent. Fully staffed by young people with a laid- back easy going style of delivering excellent service.

This is a new, modern hotel, that is a bit austere in decoration, but has the best shower in Basel. It is very clean and comfortable, with the bonus of having the excellent restaurant of the Toefelhof Hotel across the street as its sister property.
