Noise Disturbance

Check-in was efficient, and breakfast was decent and good value. However, our stay was disturbed by a birthday party taking place two floors below our two rooms, which lasted until midnight. The music and noise were so loud that we were unable to sleep until the party ended. When we called Reception, we were told there was nothing they could do.
We would expect the hotel to manage such situations better, as the comfort of overnight guests should not be compromised by events held on the premises.

Stayed for 2 nights to attend a dear friends 60th birthday party. Plenty of free parking. Room was clean and comfortable. Room rate was reasonable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Convenient pub and Supermarket across the road. Would stay here again.

We stayed at this hotel as visiting family, city centre is close but unsure of time. The hotel was well positioned for us and easy accessible to major roads, loads of free parking. Staff and breakfast were great, we spoke to the ladies cleaning the room and very helpful. Parts of the room and hotel were slightly dated but the hotel and room was very clean and tidy. I would recommend.

Arrived early and the lady on reception arranged for our room to be made up to allow us to check in, above and beyond service.
Lovely room and we were lucky to have air con on the hottest day of the year. Bar area nice we didn't eat so can't rate the food. Only slight niggle was there was no outside area to enjoy the sun

Hotel is clean, just very dated. Was expecting much more from a well known chain. For the amount paid was expecting something that had been improved since original construction.
Can't say it is eco friendly as the whole time i was there the radiators were on full blast to make up for the fact that the single glazed old aluminum windows were drafty.

Firstly the staff werent aware of the reply to the email you sent. It looked really tired inside and out. The carpets were worn or stained. The bar carpet was rucked up. We ordered coffees and got called to the bar to collect them, whereas normally they would be brought to the table. My wife asked for vegan sausage and a runny egg, as all the eggs brought out were firm. The sausages were under cooked and the egg again was firm. We were very disapointed. Apart from being charged more per night and breakfast than was being charged on the day. You need to refurbish soon or you will miss out on people staying there on a regular basis.

The mercure’s rooms are comfortable, have air conditions, lovely bed, and Nespresso coffee in them.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. To go into town in the evening you do need to use the cab service (details at reception)
The hotel is an older building in an industrial estate.

They ran out of butter on the first day so we couldn't have toast. Second day said the same but when i complained miraculously butter appeared. Although we paid to upgrade our room, it was a large room but, it only had one chair, so one of us had to sit on the bed. Also, the toilet did not flush properly, the security chain on the door was broken and the bolt would not lock the door, lucky you need a key card to enter. The staff were, however excellent, I hope they sorted out terppm issues after we left.

Hotel is located 2 to 3 miles from Norwich city centre. Plenty of car parking available. Buses 28, 29 and 29X all leave near Asda to the city centre. Buses are frequent. Staff at reception and in the bar were all very pleasant. Room was very clean, as was the ensuite. It was very quiet at night, and the bed was comfortable.
Breakfast had lots of hot and cold food options. Plenty of hot and cold beverages available too.
Overall, I would definitely recommend staying at Mercure Norwich.

No tea making facilities in the room. Only one chair for two people. Dinner was rubbish, a bought-in pie with de-frosted peas, and a much depleted wine list. Overall the hotel gave the impression that it was past its best and had no wish to improve it. A dump, in other words.

Room size was certainly not 21 sq m as mentioned. It was much smaller. There was no bedside table at the other end of the bed and no power connection option as well. The bedside table was only on one side and had caused inconvenience. The location is good and the stay otherwise was peaceful.

Arrived late after long drive from Manchester. Check in was quick and easy, however I was really disappointed at the state of the hotel. The photos online on this site are not representative of the current condition of the hotel. The common areas and my room were extremely dated, tired and in desperate need of updating in my opinion, and were nothing like what I expected. I would not have chosen to stay here had I known the reality.

Used this hotel to be close to Norwich airport for a flight. Didn't have much of a chance to use much of the hotel facilities as I was late in and earky out, but for the price and for what I needed, it was ideal.
Would say that the check-in was monumentally slick. Perhaps 30 seconds!

Staff at the hotel were friendly and efficient. Bar and restaurant quite pleasant. However, the rest of the hotel hasn’t been decorated or renewed for many years. So rooms were a good size but old fashioned. Carpets worn and bare in places. No lift to the first floor. However, the most disappointing part of the hotel was the function room. Still stuck in the 80s but with added Christmas decoration. Fairly lights on show, Christmas decs in the ceiling and huge red bows around the bar area. Overall stay was ok but wouldn’t rush back

What a let down

I was very disappointed with my stay it was very mucky in the corridor, it looked like it hadnt been hoovered in ages !
We get to our room to find it made up for 1 person and we had to ask for another set of towels ,the duvet was hanging off wasnt even tucked in ! Our problems were solved by the very friendly helpful receptionist cant fault her but not impressed !!

This is a very serviceable hotel, good for a short stay. The reception staff are very friendly, and the restaurant staff were also nice, but service was slow, probably due to staff shortages. The area the hotel is located in is not particularly appealing, but it is pretty convenient for accessing Norwich or surrounding areas. We would probably stay again.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the bed was comfortable. Unfortunately there were a few design issues that let the room down.
1) Power sockets aren't close enough to the bed to charge a device while you're using it.
2) The shower head was a fixed height and is too low. I'm less than 6 ft, but still had to constantly bend down to get under it.
If they could upgrade the rooms so the hard product was as good as the soft product, then this hotel would be worth staying in.

It is shown on the site as having a pool - the reason we chose it. Pool was closed although past the date for leisure facillties opening. dinner menu is rubbish. The room was very dated and there were a couple of odd features. The bedside lamp comes out of the wall directly above the pillow, so you have to be very mindful when you get in and out of bed or if you want so sit up and watch the tv. My wife and I both hit our heads a few times!

The room was very hot, so I turned the air con on at night… but there was a very bright blue light on the unit that lit up the whole room… so your choice was be very hot or sleep in a bright blue room.

Overall, the hotel and the room were very old and tired.

The stay was absolutely fine but nothing special.

I can’t fault the staff who were all very friendly and knew their jobs.

The hotel is just a bit tired and cannot be accused of being modern.

On the whole cleanliness was ok, although where we sat in the dining room there was an alcove with a metal goblet type ornament that was filthy and had a good few months of dust layer on it which wasn’t the greatest thing to be next to.

I didn’t regard it as a 4 star hotel. On the plus side it seemed extremely clean (except plastic cup in the bathroom had fingerprints all over it) which in the current climate was comforting and everyone had masks on. Also the breakfast was decent.

On the down side it is in need of refurbishment. Bath was poorly designed - when trying to shower I kept knocking into the various soap holders attached to the wall, the toilet flush was extremely stiff and stuck to the wall so couldn’t get a proper grip to have ease of flush. No hand towel holder, bathroom bin lid wouldn’t lift. I need to go back to Norwich for work next wee, but won’t be going back To this Mercure.

Didn’t realise it was on an industrial estate. Essentially Alan Partridge’s Travel Tavern. Next to a gun shop! Double bed was two singles of differing heightS so there was a ridge in the middle. Bath/shower was stained and we didn’t risk using it. Everything 70s but not in that cool way. Threadbare stained carpets. 4 star? Why instant coffee and no coffee maker then? What makes it 4 star? Breakfast Covid style was a carton of OJ and a low fat yoghurt. 4 star? We had a hilarious time. I wonder if they ever hosted a conference for Dante’s Fires. Ah haaaaaaaa!

The hotel was quite shabby - not the 4* we were expecting.
The spa was closed due to COVID which is ok but they did not advertise.
We’re serving food in the rooms but it was heated in a microwave - salmon had water at bottom of plastic microwave box.
But worst of all they had no AC, it was a hot night - after complaining we got two fans. But could not sleep at all at night.
