The hotel and its bar and restaurant all have an Irish flavour. Our welcome was friendly and helpful. Our room was comfortable and well-appointed, although the ancient wardrobe's lock needed understanding. We did have some trouble with the shower doors. Breakfasts were excellent. The croissants were top=class. We decided to eat our evening meals in the restaurant and can report that the menu was varied and the food and service top quality.

I am writing this review for my parents as this holiday was there Christmas present so I am just relaying there personal experience.

Lovely clean space with friendly staff. Dinner was really nice, howerer the breakfast was a mixed bag, cooked breakfast was pretty terrible but the home made fruit bowls and yogurt was amazing.

Nice clean modern room with great showers, but pretty uncomfortable bed from there description.

Overall a good stay for 2 nights, would definitely recommend if your staying for a day or two in Norwich.

The location of the property was ideal, close to everything,yet on a quiet street.
The rooms were big and the bed very comfortable.
The breakfast was very good, both hot from a menue and continental.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
I would recommend this hotel for anyone staying in Norwich.

The location of the hotel is excellent, very close to all of the city's attractions, everything within a 10 minute walk and 5 minutes from the town centre. The taxi from the railway station only took about 10 minutes.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially in the restaurant and bar area.
The breakfast was very nice with a good variety of options.
The only negative points were that the room was a bit dark, the shower was prone to leak if the door wasn't shut carefully and the TV was a bit temperamental, switching itself off sometimes, and a fridge would have been nice, none of which spoiled our enjoyment of the hotel.
Overall it was a nice hotel, well located with friendly staff.

This hotel is perfectly placed for the centre of Norwich, a stones throw from the market and Norwich Lanes.

The staff were all cheerful, welcoming and extremely helpful.

The food - excellent, value for money and beautifully presented.

The only difficulty we experienced was in locating the car park at the rear of the hotel. However, popping into reception and they put us right.

Biggest plus was the staff. All so helpful and pleasant. The hotel has a lovely feel about it. In the centre of the city but so quiet at night and comfortable beds. We only has breakfast at the hotel but if that was anything to go by then the restaurant would be great. Also mixes one of the best ‘Old Fashion’ cocktails I have had.

Carpark directions on the website were brilliant, there was plenty of parking space and we were able to get the permit before check in.
The hotel is in a great location for town centre.
The room we stayed in and some parts of the building looked tired, but were clean.
Our room didn't have any towels in, but reception soon sorted that out.
The room was very hot.
The breakfast was nice and the staff were very kind and went the extra mile to look after our dog.

Location was decent, very close to the market and plenty of food and drink options. About 20 minute walk from the station.

The breakfast was delicious and plentiful.

Tea & coffee amenities were in the room, albeit basic for the room type, but they were replenished each day. The hot chocolate was fairtrade, but the tea & coffee wasn't.
The bed moved and hit the wall with the slightest movement, which was a bit annoying during the night when just turning over or moving an arm. Could do with just some felt pads adding to mute the noise & damage to the wall!

The bath was large and beautiful, and the shower had really good pressure, though the shower curtain was a bit annoying as there wasn't loads of space with it closed.

There wasn't a safe or fridge in the room that we noticed. The room itself was nicely decorated and very spacious, with lots of furniture options.

Overall would stay again, it was clean & comfy, & the breakfast was really tasty! It's a lovely building too.

We liked this hotel and enjoyed the atmosphere - a positive mix of a traditional hotel with modern flashes.

according to notices in our room there is ongoing refurbishment to guest rooms which makes sense as our room whilst very clean and well equipped could be described a being tired.

A great team who were attentive and helpful.

We enjoyed the late night bar and good breakfast.

Overall the room was good, the show needs deep clean but usable. The kettle lead needs being made longer to reach the socket.
Blinds and inside the windows could do with cleaning .

On the first morning of our stay cold breakfast was lacking fruit, glasses for fruit juice not great selection but on second morning much better with a wider variety.
Car Park difficult to find. Car Park was scruffy bins overflowing, lots of debris. Was wondering at one point if my car would be safe parked there. Hotel is ideally located for shopping, theatres and city highlights.

Yes, its good that you have excellent directions to the car park, but entering through the rear of the hotel there needs to be better signage for recepition. Pleasant staff who were very accomodating and was shown direct to the room, which was very nice. Few issues from the start, as this was the Georgian suite, i would have expected better tea and coffee facilities with better choice of decaff and milk which there was none. There was a strong odour from both the bath and shower drains which needed clearing, description stated double bed but was two singles pushed together, for a suite i would expect to be a double. Shower value covers both loose to allow water damage elsewhere and worn carpet to the bedroom lounge area. Tv was on and off and changing channels on its own possibly from other tv remotes next door.
Would i stay here again, YES

We had a Georgian suite room no. 23 and the room itself was lovley but however the smell of the drains from the bathroom was quite overwhelming and off putting. I realise it’s a very old building and didn’t complain as I hate doing that but however for a £200 room this should be carefully considered. Overall our stay was a little bit dampened by this and realise now that I should have mentioned the smell for the next guest to not have the same experience. Staff however are amazing xx

Perfect hotel for central Norwich. Theatre and shops 5 min walk. Main areas tastefully decorated. Spotless. Very calm feel. Reception quirky a private little office room off the side of entrance. Felt like we had stepped back in time. It had a little ding ding bell on the desk for attention. Felt like I was meeting the Bank Manager but don't change your uniqueness. I dread to think how you get on if you have a rush on though!
Parking £10 I understand why but great you let us leave our car there next day for as long as needed.
Our room spotless and very spacious with a massive telly. The bathroom fan extremely noisy like a jet engine I think you have a problem there but mercifully turned off as long as you avoided putting the light on.
We had wished you were serving evening meals. It spoilt our stay. We did not know where to go so ended up with a Burger King.
Breakfast a lovely quiet time. Only 2 other tables when we sat down. My full English took 45 mins to come sat with my one coffee offered to me, May I suggest putting a coffee pot on the side so we can help ourselves even a toaster. When my breakfast arrived was worth it. Freshly cooked, non greasy and very tasty.
When we come back which we will, I hope you will offer evening meals. All in all, Thank you St Giles for a lovely stay.

A good location for central Norwich with convenient car parking (£10 per 24hr). Hotel is quite dated + a bit shabby in places.
Our room was fairly clean but could do with some TLC.
We could hear music all night from somewhere nearby. It wasn't horribly loud but it was only a Tuesday night, so perhaps it's worse on weekends.
A fridge in the room would have been nice, but we appreciated the kettle/tea and coffee mugs.
Good size towels but the shower leaked all over the floor so they were used to mop that up.
Pillows are awful.

Very friendly and helpful staff and the room was comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was very good and ran till 10am on all days which isn't the norm these days. Also there was none of that nonsense about stating what time you wanted breakfast, or even pre-ordering what you were going to eat - something that more and more hotels are doing these days. There was also a night porter who could serve drinks, something that is also becoming a rarity.
I couldn't fault anything about our stay, and would easily stay here again.

We arrived half hour earlier than expected for check-in but room was already available so after a long drive it was lovely to be able to drop our bags and start our break to Norwich. Wisely refurbished hotel, amazing location, accessible, with car park available (a bit tricky to get it, but at 2nd attempt we found it following the clear instructions sent via email). Lovely cooked breakfast, georgian style room was spaceous and lovely, comfortable soft bed, really quiet road, beautiful cocktails. Friendly and welcoming staff, a really nice and quiet atmosphere with a luxurious old-building feel without making you feel uncomfortable.

A grand old building but quite tired and dated looking in places. Bedside lights didn’t work and one had no bulb which is potentially dangerous. It was sorted immediately though. Staff were friendly enough but nothing above or beyond. Reception is in a small room off to the side which was a bit strange and was not attended a couple of times. It’s four star rated but didn’t feel like it. Location is fantastic.
