The receptionist, Claudia, was brilliant. Friendly, professional and helpful. We were in the next building along from the main hotel area. This was managed by a secure keypad system, no problems at all. We had a deluxe double room (room 3) and to be honest, if this was a deluxe double room, i cannot only wonder what a normal double would be like. Not a particularly big room but lovely big windows with views of the river. I remember reading a review regards a deluxe room from a guest who'd stayed earlier in July. They said they'd reported a faulty bathroom light on the first day they arrived and it still wasnt fixed when they left. Guess what? We had a faulty bathroom light too (or the same one maybe?). Hard to do much other than shower in there. (That made a horrible whining noise when in use!) The room wasnt clean - dirty skirting boards, the bed appeared to be 2 single beds put together and the marks on both bases were not very clean. We slept on top of the bed - couldn't bring ourselves to get under the covers.The smell in the whole of the building, and our room, was really quite musty and we both thought it smelt like there had been smoking at some stage allowed in the building. Its a shame, as the position of this building should be a delight to spend time in it - we just couldnt get away quick enough. The price we paid is irrelevant really as basic cleanliness should be a given. This place is very run down, very old fashioned. Needs a complete refurb.

We booked a five night stay in a Deluxe Superior room and had to move after two nights. It was so noisy we couldn’t sleep, and our room had some maintenance issues that were not attended to after we asked on the 2nd morning eg bathroom mirror light not working in a dim small bathroom with no window or extractor fan (legal?). We asked for a refund as there was nothing deluxe or superior about the room. We were mislead.

The area was very convenient and had a lovely view of the river. Perfect for access to the city centre. The room itself was clean, just like the photos and they did a great service of the room as we stayed two nights.

Although the area is convenient, be aware it does mean there's noise from traffic all night long. The parking situation was unclear when booking and lead to us receiving a parking ticket. And in our room in particular, the shower was almost unusable.

Misleading but presentable room

Booked overnight stay following a music event nearby. Booked Riverside Hotel, but they obviously own several properties nearby. Our room was in a converted house up a side road so sadly no Riverside view. Room was very preventable. Needs a net curtain at window to aid privacy, better quality mattresses and pillows. Cleaner needs to look up & dust light fittings.

This was a visit to this beautiful city to catch up with friends for food, beers and good company. There is certainly a lot of places to eat and drink nearby along the river and the hotel was only a 10 minute walk from the Cathedral quarter and 15 minutes from the hustle and bustle of the city itself.

Mind Your Head!

An ideal room for a solo traveller on a budget. A single room with its own shower and wc, towels and toiletries included. There were a kettle and beverages supplied by the hotel along with a tv. Access to the room (on the top floor) was via some steep stairs and I kept banging my head on the sloping ceiling but I soon learned to duck! Check-in was quick and efficient; check-out a matter of popping the key in a secure box.

Although I booked for riverside, we were put in one of their other accommodations. Staff were excellent.
Room was very nice, very clean and comfortable beds.
Tea/coffee facilities in room, always good to have. Toiletries and towels. Shower was good, but only downside, it flooded the bathroom floor, as doors didn’t close properly.

It took us a while to find where the bathroom light switch was. But the only problem was that it was to high for my friend to reach it. So maybe a good idea is to have a pole left in the room. so smaller people can reach it. Apart from that everything else was good

Disgusting service, can you call this a hotel?

Terrible stay, tried calling the property before we left to find out about parking arrangements, no answer. We arrived 30 mins before check in and tried calling the duty manager 10+ times on his office and moble phone but no answer, rang the bell as instructed, no answer so had to go do our own thing tried calling twice more from 1330 hours, no answer. Then he called us at around 5 pm to ask when we thought we would be arriving.... When we was finally given access to the property it was very shabby in the communal areas. I am not sure this was being used exclusively as a hotel as there was families in the building with their very young children running around the communal areas at 10pm at night and people cooking in what seemed to be a shared kitchen area which was not mentioned in the info on the site. The manager was phoned again as the children were playing and shouting right our room door whilst their mother was cooking dinner and dishes on the sink, they was asked to be quiet bit didny understand what we was sayinh.The room was noisy as there was traffic all night. The room was acceptable in clenliness and comfort but i have just felt very misled in the description of the property when we booked.

Nice stay, staff friendly, clean room, handy for the railway station and football ground, the room I was in was on the top floor whch has a very steep staircase so bear that in mind if you struggle with stairs apart from that I highly recommend this place. Parking is by paying a fee and hotel gives you a parking permit as the streets outside the hotel require a permit.

Good things first: the staff are lovely but they can only do so much.
Bad things: desperately needs renovation. No breakfast. Walls are made of paper. Reception is at the back so you'll hear every single guest come in, snore, fart, and talk loudly into their phones all night. There is no possibility of sleeping.

This hotel is very clearly at the ultra low budget end of the market, which would have been okay if the price I paid reflected that.
The single room was very small and had a few weird issue. The bathroom light switch was above the door. At 5ft 11 I could only just reach it. The walls are very thin. I could hear people talking and snoring through the wall. The location also seems to mean you get a lot of loud drunk people passing by in the early hours. Both nights I stayed (over the weekend) I was woken up by people outside.

Check-out was non existent. I went to check-out at the main building. No one answered the door, or answered the phone when I phoned the office or duty manager numbers they had displayed next to the door. I just posted the key through the letterbox and hoped for the best.

All that being said if the price was low enough and you just wanted the cheapest possible place to stay, this could be right for you. Unfortunately for me. As I booked last minute, it wasn't that cheap. Certainly not worth what I paid.

Property very close to the centre of Norwich. A great view of the the canal . Very close to Norwich railway station . Only problem no parking near by . I drove down . When asked about parking the guy on reception wasn’t very helpful . He just said it’s all parking permits . When asked where can I park . He said find a car park . As we were going to the Norwich city v Watford . I drove around the city until I came across an outdoor 24 hr car park for £5 . No thanks to him . It’s called RCP parking Rouen rd car park. The shower was very hot hard to control took 5 mins to adjust to reasonable temp

The room was so small one of us had to lay on the bed while the other got changed. The entrance stank of sewage and loads of little flies all on the walls. Thankfully the room did not smell as bad. Pillows were like rocks. Breakfast is NOT supplied. Very expensive for what you got. Very disappointing and certainly would NOT stay again.

The interior had a foul odor. We were told that the property was only 100 yards from the train station, but was somewhat further away. The manager was extremely rude and unhelpful. We had requested and were promised a ground floor room, but when we arrived were told that our room would be on an upper floor. Explaining that we had requested and were promised ground floor accommodations because I have difficulty with stairs, he told us that he had no ground floor rooms available. We said that we would need to find another place to stay and began to leave. He then offered us a ground floor room but said that it would cost more. Being treated like this, we decided not to stay at this hotel. Best decision of the day.

Very good budget hotel

Just an overnight stay and we picked this hotel according to price and proximity to the station. The reception staff's welcome was very friendly and we did not mind being taken to another building, closer to the station, where we were shown to our room. The room was on the small side but very clean with plenty of towels, teas and coffees. The shower was very good although we had problems keeping the shower door closed. In spite of slightly protruding springs in the bed we both had a very good night's sleep and, bearing in mind the budget price, we would happily stay at this hotel again.

Arrived by train. Hotel is about a 4 minute walk from the station. Had room on top floor with stairs. My baggage was carried by staff up and down willingly. As recovering from a broken ankle, this assisted greatly.

Ok if its last minute.

Was not impressed at having to check in and then walk down the street to find another property where my room was. Ok room, clean, not very comfortable beds. Asked about breakfast and this is extra however a bag of bread and jam hung on my door handle in the morning totally put me off. The reception stunk of cigarettes.

We arrived before official check in time but they were quite prepared to store our luggage until later. The check in was quick and the room spacious, clean and comfortable. The wi-fi connection was reasonable. Our only complaint is that we were in the first floor room closest to the entrance. This door had a very strong closing mechanism and we could hear the load bang whenever anyone entered or left the premises. We could also hear heavy footfall on the stairs and the room above us seemed to be occupied by a herd of elephants.

The hotel is cheap and cheerful for the city centre. Read the reviews - it is not the Ritz and you get what you pay for. The staff are very friendly and above all it is clean and functional. So I couldn't actually use the handbasin due to the sloping ceiling - at the money charged I adapted.

The only thing I would point out is the stairs are as others have mentioned incredibly steep and tight, I have fairly limited mobility and properly struggled but again I had read the reviews and knew what was in store, just probably underestimated my own ability!

I would stay here again as I have stayed in far worse chain hotels at much more money.

We booked this place because Expedia.ca had listed it as Riverside hotel bed and breakfast. There was no breakfast facility. We would not have considered it if we had known. The room was small but clean. The ensuite was very small with poor lighting. The location was excellent for the paces we wanted to visit.

We were put in another building down the road, the room was right at the top, small with sloping ceilings, being tall it had a cramped feeling, the wardrobe was a clothes rail under the sloping ceiling so only practical to hang up a crop top, there was no where to hang a dress, trousers or coat without it crumpling on the floor. Which was not ideal since we arrived with outfits for a Christmas party. The shower water temperature was far too hot with not markings on which dials were for hot or cold,and would not run cool, this was obvisouly the same throughout the hotel as we heard someone next door scream out they'd been scolded.

Stay was fine, clean and comfortable - however the whole place stank of cigarettes. Not good. Bedroom wasn't quite so bad but was right above smoking yard where staff seemed to be smoking all the time so had to keep my window shut.

the room I booked on hotels.com was not what I was to get once at hotel.booked double room but was going to be given a room with 3x single beds. however there was a room swap and actually got economy studio room which had huge tv, fridge, microwave, 2 hob rings for cooking and had a river view! parking is bit of an issue so when booking make sure you pre order parking permits as not all the staff there seem to be able to know how to do this. Think we had the best room and was clean.

I stayed here recently and have to say it's one of the most pleasent stays i've ever had. Bob and Erita are two of genuinely the nicest people i've ever met. They went well out of their way again and again to ensure my stay was pleasent. The customer service was beyond anything i've ever experienced. The hotel was extremely nice and the rooms were always extremely clean and I could not ask more for such a reasonably priced hotel.

We had apparently booked the 'economy room' However I did not expect a room on the top floor that was so cramped, my head hit the sloping ceiling many times and, because of the thinly insulated roof it was infernally hot. There was one little window that was obviously unable to provide ventilation. Ordered a breakfast the day before that never arrived. I am beginning to notice that pictures of hotel rooms do not represent the reality. Admittedly though if I had chosen a different room things might have been better. Since the hotel was fully booked, we could not change rooms

We waited a while to check in, as the manager was taking someone else to another building. We had been told we had one of the best rooms and was then shown to our room. Which was very small and had beautiful large windows overlooking the river and the very busy main road. The large windows had no net curtains or blinds, so all the people in cars and vans could see into our room. The lights all seemed to be very low wattage, so made the room quite dingy looking. The bedding had a musty smell,not an unlaundered smell but just not very nice.
I think the thing that spoilt the whole stay was the awful noise all night long from the road, so traffic, cabs and boy racers and also the drunks who seemed to always want to argue or shout right outside our bedroom. The room was also next to the front door, which seemed to have no device on it to stop it slamming right against the wall next to the bed. The bed was awful and to say it was the most uncomfortable nights sleep I have ever had in a Hotel is not far from the truth, double that with the noise outside and I can only say.....AVOID this place

Disappointing and rather grubby

We made a poor choice this time. Room was surface clean but any corners or ledges had not been cleaned in some time. Heavy duvet acted as top sheet, but doubtful if it had been changed after last occupant. Very small and stuffy, but as Manager smoked on patio right outside our room, we couldn't open window much of the time. No breakfast offered and we didn't realize that room wasn't made up unless you put sign on door handle. It was the first time we ran into that.

Dreadful!! .... in every sense!

Dreadful \"hotel\" - it is not a hotel at all really but a few rooms slung together.
The place was locked when I arrived and, despite ringing the bell, no-one came. I had to telephone and speak to an indignant night manager who told me to ring the bell ...!!
The bed took up the whole room, literally. Had I been more than I size 10 I would not have been able to get in the room.
The walls were paper thin, not only could I hear the every word of the guy in the room next room but I could hear every word of the person on the other end.
The bedroom and the bathroom were freezing cold and, although the bathroom was clean, the shower was barely more than a trickle (so it wasn't possible to warm up and I even had to resort to using my coat as a blanket).
The wardrobe covered the tiny window but was not designed to hang adult clothes in - so I hung my business suite over the door.
Nothing at all about this place constitutes \"hotel\" - thank goodness I left at 6.45am ...and that, luckily didn't want breakfast ..because they don't do breakfast!!
