A Memorable Stay

The staff were good, efficient and friendly, with one major exception - when we expressed concerns about noise in our room, we were switched to a room they said would be quieter. In reality, that room was 10 times louder, so they agreed to move us back to the original room.

The location is very central and close to everything, which made it easy to explore the area without hassle.

The property is beautiful and the staff were all friendly and helpful. We really appreciated the offer of tequila upon check-in. The only downside at check-in was that our room was on the fourth floor with no elevator, and lugging our luggage up the stairs after a long day of travel was not fun. The woman who showed us to our room offered to help, but I wasn't going to ask HER to lug my luggage...

We also wished we could have had a place to enjoy a drink while we awaited our car service, but we were told the restaurant was undergoing a shift change (at 1:00 p.m. on a Sunday afternoon, right during the lunch hour...) and that would be impossible.

Otherwise we recommend this hotel!

Perfect and Romantic.

Perfect location in city center. All tourist locations within walking distance. Advise using the free ear plugs they provide if you want to sleep without noise. Beatiful hotel and service. Would definitely book here again whenever we return to GTO.

Beautifully maintained, and beautifully renovated. Large rooms, great beds, incredibly well sound-proofed windows, and comfortably-sized and well-equipped bathrooms. Very responsive staff in general, and in particular w/r/t a personal emergency we had. very good restaurant that merits visiting even if you’re not staying there. Well located, close to the Jardín but away from the nightly liveliness.

Nice hotel in a loud area

We stayed here 4 nights in a room with king bed and full balcony overlooking the front of the hotel. The room was very comfortable, great quiet air conditioning, nice selection of cable stations and good shower with tons of pressure. Our only complaint is it is VERY loud here. The church bells go off every 15 minutes and a nearly night club blasts deafening bass music very late into the night. There is little soundproofing so its hard to sleep.

Side note - the few guests we saw seemed to be older, affluent folks. It was pretty empty when we were there. Never saw anyone eating supper there. And only a couple of tables having breakfast. Warning - very little English spoken here by staff.

I loved the hotel and the room. I loved the balcony and the view.
The service was excellent as well as the location.
The only thing I think can be improved is the pressure in the shower.

If you want to be in the center of the city, this location cannot be beat! Staff were pleasant, room was comfortable and clean. While there are steps to the rooms, it’s much better staying before than having to take a lot steps to get to many other hotels.

Everything was perfect, except when we did the reservation, we reserved a room with a king size bed, instead the hotel gave me a double bed, I brought this to the staff attention, and they were able to switch me to a different room the next day, both rooms were beautiful, I just wanted the king size bed. The hotel location is perfect within walking distance to everything right in the center of everything, my wife and I truly loved it.

Had a great stay at Alonso 10

We had a great 2 night stay here and really enjoyed Guanajuato in general. The staff are very helpful and friendly and the location is superb! Our room was on the top floor and surprisingly came with a huge terrace with views of the basilica. The room was large, bed comfy, and the safe worked well. The room was kept cool with the ac unit but it was a bit noisy (irregular popping noises) and it’s blue light was very bright and could not be dimmed (we just covered it up ourselves). The fridge kept drinks just very slightly cool, which was a bit disappointing but not the end of the world. We did not try the breakfast or food at the restaurant but read reviews that it’s s good place to eat at. We’d definitely come back to Guanajuato and would recommend staying at Alonso 10.

It’s a nice place however the walls are like paper. Good thing that nights were quiet. They can improve on amenities in room. A full size mirror would be noce. Also the fridge didn’t cool enough. The breakfast was excellent! Location is awesome. There is no elevator but the staff caried our luggage. For those who cannot walk stairs it would not be fitting.

All of the staff really made us feel at home. We were well taken care of , especially by Omar. Nicely furnished and designed. Great location near the action, but far enough away to avoid most noise and experience the quainter vibes of Guanajuato, Included breakfast was very good (omelets, huevos rancheros, hotcakes, a couple of others), We were upgraded to the Capela Room after two nights of five. The room is very nice and comfortable, but the terrace was awesome. Can see steeples, here music in the background and relax. We stayed for the first two nights in the Chavez Morado room. It's a window facing the inside of the building and the stairway. While it is a small hotel, other guests past your room window going up and down the stairway.

The actual hotel is clean and located in a great area. However, I left the door hanger on the door so no one would go into my room and yet the housekeeper still went in and rearranged our clothing and bags. We had money stolen from my husbands shorts which were left on top of a chair in the room!!! Needless to say this was a horrible experience and we are going back and fourth with the hotel manager who said he would reimburse us for the hotel stay due to the inconvenience.

Great location, rooms are big, with tall ceilings, and modern bathrooms, are nice and clean. We found a couple of bugs in the room but they might have come through the open balcony. Very nice staff, nice to see older people employed. We had a dirty blanket with holes on the bed as we checked in (no duvet cover) but they eagerly replaced it upon our request. The king bed was very comfortable but it appeared too big, which is not a problem, but it didn’t have a fitted sheet base - I guess because of its unusual size, so the bottom sheets slide off the bed easily, baring the mattress. Only One negative thing - There was lots of very very loud noise on the street right in front of the hotel that lasted entire two hours on Tuesday night, well after midnight. It was either a fight or some sort of a party. I was surprised that the hotel security staff didn’t call the police to stop it as windows and balconies of many rooms face that street. It was impossible to sleep at night at all as we had to catch an early flight.

Amazing surprise!

The hotel is at the heart of downtown, has parking that is included and right besides the hotel. The breakfast was AMAZING, service was incredible. The only downside is the fact that it has no elevator so it is something to take into consideration. Because the city is UNESCO patrimony the building cannot be altered, so it´s understandable yet still something to take into consideration. The hotel is near enough where you don´t have all the noise from the main plaza, but it takes 3 minutes to get there.

I would recommend this hotel in a heartbeat!

We had a very nice stay in this hotel. Our room was upgraded, and we enjoyed eating breakfast out on our terrace. It is a converted hacienda, and each room is different. Nice bath products and large rooms with comfortable beds and linens.
We took a first-class bus for $7 from Guanajuato to San Miguel. The ride take 11/2 hours, and the bus is better than the ones in USA; reclining seats, TVs, refreshments. No need for cars in Guanajuato or San Miguel.

A memorable stay

Beautiful grand building; beautiful huge room and bathroom with very high majestic ceilings; nicely decorated; very comfortable bed and pillows; good wifi. The staff were all very kind and helpful; they even let us keep our room until our night flight out (which no hotel ever does)--much much appreciated. The hotel is located very close to the jardin, restaurants, stores, and other sights. The breakfast was the best we had at any hotel in Mexico--compliments to the chef. Despite the unexpected cold and rainy weather (and snow flurries even), we had a wonderful time here (and the bad weather forced us to spend a whole afternoon in the room, which we wouldn't have otherwise done, but was very relaxing and welcome).

A beautiful little hotel right in the middle of the historical district. It feels very intimate. Our room was on the second floor (you have to climb stairs here because all the rooms are above the ground level and there is no elevator). The decor combines modern amenities with colonial art and architecture, and is very pleasant The room has in-room temperature control (a nice touch that other hotels we stayed in on this trip did not provide). The service was impeccable. The room was a little pricey, but well worth it -- we stayed during the slow season, and they let us have a very late afternoon check-out, a wonderful luxury since our flight out of Leon was not leaving until the evening.

A10 - a great pair for Guanajuato

Beautiful rock and wood details throughout the hotel. Excellent location walking distance to Teatro Juarez, nearby restaurants, and coffee shops; all within a five minute walk. Master Suite has amazing high ceilings with a balcony perfect to sip a spirit or simply enjoy the street below. The staff is very attentive and will attend the vehicle, no need to worry about parking. Definitely will stay at A10 (Alonso 10) on my next visit.

Gorgeous colonial boutique hotel with modern amenities....could not make a better choice in Guanajuato, GTO. Beautifully renovated colonial building with eight spacious immaculate suites... amazing marble and tile bathroom with superb shower and water pressure, never a lack of hot water. Egyptian cotton linens, wood floors, and spectacular daily service. The staff makes you feel like family, nothing is too much trouble for the entire staff to make your stay as delightful as possible. The included breakfast of your own choice is outstanding and elegantly served in the lovely dining room. The Captain and the waiters are helpful, attentive, pleasant, gracious, and proud of their hotel and their picturesque city. The chef prepares traditional Mexican food with a creative flair, delicious and beautifully presented. The cleaning staff is always smiling and goes beyond the call of duty. The people of Guanajuato are polite, soft spoken, friendly and helpful. What a delightful time we had in Guanajuato, GTO, at Alonso 10 Hotel Boutique and Arte. Will surely return!

The rooms were elaborate. Exceptionally well-constructed and decorated. Perfect location... very close to the Zocalo, and very popular bars, yet isolated to the point where it maintains tranquility.

Only thing I didn't like was that they had a piano playing throught the day, I could hear loud and clear in my room whether I liked it or not.... Oh yeah, and the internet dropped to nothing for a while, but you can probably chalk that up to being in Mexico.

Overall more than worth the price.

This hotel may have been OK once but it is now a wreck. It is a long distance from the attractions in San Miguel. There was no hot water. The WiFi didn't work. It rained night we stayed and water ran under the door into our room. There is no heating or air conditioning in the room. My wife rated it as \"a little better than camping\"

Restaurant and public areas are run-down, and website photos are dated.
Street-facing rooms are very noisy.

Reception area is more like something from a two star hotel, and that sets the tone for the service experience overall..

We spent 2 nights he and loved it! First, we arrived with a car which is very difficult in Guanajuato. One of our party went into the hotel and returned with a staff member wh took the car and parked it for us. The rooms are recently remodeled and spacious. The staff are al wonderful. Breakfast is included and itis a full choice menu. The city itself is wonderful and well worth a visit.

A great hotel in a perfect location

The hotel is beautiful and the design is sophisticated. It is also a very calming respite from the lively street life of Guanajuato just one block away. The staff is warm and helpful; the restaurant is excellent, for dinner as well as the breakfast that comes with the booking. We even had a terrace from which we could see the New Year's Eve fireworks!

VERY CONVENIENT LOCATION, BUT TOO NOISY

The hotel has a very central (one block from Teatro Juarez) and convenient location. Facilities are good, though maintenance is not great. Staff is very good and friendly. However, there are lots of noises coming both from inside and outside the hotel. Inside, there is an open restaurant and bar (with good food), which communicate directly to the stairs where rooms are, so all noise and music from restaurant and bar can be heard at rooms (they do not stop until late, probably about midnight). More aggraviating, is a nightclub (Guanajuato Grill), located a few steps outside the hotel; it is a noisy venue during most of the night (until about 5am) and local authorities do not seem to control the decibels at which such establishments may opperate, so the result can be quite bad if you are looking for a quiet night of rest and sleep.

Wonderful boutique hotel in a ideal location! The master suite has a large terrace with beautiful views. All around great place

The staff is incredible and went out of there way to take care of me and make me feel welcome and comfortable. The restaurant is fantastic. The suite or junior suite on the top floor is definitely worth the price and the walk for the view from the balcony. The only negative was the nightclub next door. It's ridiculously loud and open until 5 AM Thursday through Saturday.

Excellent facility 300 feet from plaza Union

Nice 18 dorms hotel modern Mexican style. Great atmosphere walking distance from major attractions nice for a romantic getaway.
I traveled with my wife and 3 kids and they love it

Close to historic downtown/nightlife/restaurants

Outstanding service, great rooms, comfy beds, great bar, quiet and intimate atmosphere, amazing view from our room, excellent food prepared by in-house chef. They even prepared a complimentary to-go meal for my wife and I for our red-eye flight out of the country. We travel to Guanajuato often. Hands down, my new favorite place.

La JUNIOR SUITE es una simple habitación sencilla que se compara a cualquier habitación de cualquier hotel de negocios, solo le llaman Jr. Suite para subir el precio. Es un cuarto normal con vista al pasillo donde todos te miran por la ventana con una TV vieja y tienes que subir tres pisos por la escalera cargando tus maletas.

Lo único bueno es la ubicación en el centro de Guanajuato pero de ahí en fuera no vale lo que cuesta.

Una opción realmente comoda, con excelente ubicación en el centro de guanajuato a espaldas del teatro juarez. Hermosa decoración, excelente limpieza y servicio. Nos ayudaron en todo momento a conseguir taxi y opciones de spa. Su restaurante tambien muy rico, prueben su panaderia. Regresariamos!

Bonito pero muy ruidoso - imposible descansar

El hotel esta muy bien ubicado y es bonito, con habitaciones amplias y cómodas. Buen restaurante -sobre todo el desayuno. Pero tiene un bar o antro en el sótano que toca música fuerte hasta la 1 o 2. El ruido llega directo a las habitaciones. Imposible dormir o descansar. Después del cierre del bar los empleados recogen todo oyendo música fuerte sin consideración para los huéspedes
Pasamos toda la noche haciendo corajes y quejándonos al igual que otros huéspedes. El Hotel podría ser excelente pero no sabe cuál es su vocación: Es un Hotel boutique de lujo o un antro ruidoso ? Tendría que definirse

Un lugar super cómodo y bonito, excelente ubicación.
Solo en ciertas habitaciones se escucha mucho el ruido de la calle pero ai logras descansar muy bien.
La comida esta excelente.
En el bar buen servicio y buenas bebidas.
