Majority of facilities - kids pool, play areas - closed without warning. Which sortof ruined out stay with young children.

Dozens of minor inconveniences: the need to enter your passport details (!) to see the room service menu, the fact that getting into the indoor pool is more admin than boarding a domestic flight, the refusal to replenish bottled water, the fact the Do Not Disturb sign is each day hidden rather than left on the door handle interior, the poor quality food in the bar, the inattentiveness and unconcerned attitude of staff.. Smashed glass (bauble from Christmas tree) left on the floor in the lobby…. being told we weren’t permitted to eat at specific tables in the lobby, next to the bar which servces food.. all of which add up to a poor experience.

We did complain and were offered a sad plate of pre-cut pineapple in sellophane as an apology.

Easy access to highways and indoor free parking, great pools indoor and out. It has great activities for kids which I didn’t have with me and breakfast is a very nice spread . I have been here 5 times and the location , price, and free parking, also pools is what makes me coming back , when I travel to Portugal.

Great but bring your own TP!

We had a relaxing stay at Vila Gale. It’s a beautiful property. The restaurant service staff were all great. However for a five start hotel the beds should be more comfortable and please get softer toilet paper! The toilet paper was so rough and cheap.

We stayed here with groups of other family members for a wedding in Sintra. It was a lovely experience… far removed from the bustle of downtown Sintra, lovely grounds, an elaborate included breakfast buffet, and very kind staff. In particular, we were grateful that the hotel manager agreed to refund us when we discovered we accidentally double booked a room.

The location is amazing, as are the inclusive facilities. It is very family friendly as well.

The restaurant staff were also very friendly and the food both plentiful and exceptional. The all-you-can eat buffet in the evening is €30 each though.

Constructive criticisms: there was an unpleasant sewage smell in the mornings. There is no public transport, so you will need to pay for a taxi. That costs €10 each way, so worth baring in mind.

Stayed here while on a family vacation. The property is beautiful with a stunning location and views. The rooms are spacious and clean, though one of our bathrooms had a peculiar smell that lasted throughout our stay. They have a great schedule of amenities and entertainment for the children. However I wish the areas had also been available for free play throughout the day, not just when the staff is there. Overall a great stay!

Vila Gale Sintra was an ok experiencThe room had an incredible view. However, it rained, and the balcony flooded through the cracks in the door-clearly not well sealed/made. At other hotels I stayed in during my had complimentary waters, a small token of appreciation for the stay, and other accouterments. The walls are extremely thin-I could hear screaming children running down the hall and people on the other side of my wall at night.

The pool was serene-but only when I was able to go. The concept of making 'reservations' is honestly ridiculous. There were 25 people consistently throughout one of the days I was there yet they would say its 'full' and I had to I wait til the next time slot to go to the pool. For 'upscale' hotel, I think this reservations policy needs to be rethought. Guests should not have to plan out when they want to go to the pool.

The food was just okay. I ate from the menu both nights for dinner as the other buffet food looked less than exciting. The breakfast buffet was decent and provided a lot of options for anyone-understandable for the concept this hotel is going for-with it being family friendly.

This hotel was 10-15 minutes from town. It is out in the country. Vey nice and peaceful. But I do think there should be some sort of shuttle offered by the hotel considering the price. Even a few time

The concept Vila Gale hotel company is trying to build was partially evident in this Sintra property. There is work to be done.

This hotel is outdated. Compared to the other hotels I stayed at in Portugal - I don’t know how this is considered a five star. There was a stench of body odor in the lobby when we walked in. The bed was nice, however the rug had stains, the shower water wouldn’t go down and there was mildew in the shower. Our room was by the dining area so at 8am my room smelled like food. The staff was very very nice though and the bed was clean.

Our experience as a person of colour

The hotel is beautiful and kept clean. The breakfast buffet is good too. The only sad experience is that people of colour are not truly welcomed there. We are a black couple and definitely felt ignored and alienated. Staff were more attentive to caucasians.

This hotel is really a resort with indoor and outdoor (too cool) pools and a fitness center; helpful staff, and a lovely location, though a little far from Sintra centro. It was a short easy drive to Praia Hrande with good restaurants and views. The only problem was slow checkout, only 1 clerk on duty. A manager walked by and I asked him to add someone, which he did immediately. However, he should have noticed and acted without my intervention. You could enjoy yourself on the property and never leave. Breakfast buffet ample and varied. Dinner a la cartel entries are skimpy, though after O commented to our waiter, he offered us the buffet desserts complimentary. Also, they have you a coupon for free bottle of wine if you spend 40E at dinner (easy for a couple to do). Everyone in our party of 6 was very pleased with the hotel.

It’s located outside of Sintra town, so you need to use a mini cab for going down to the town - there is no public transport.
The only thing that I am not giving 5 out of 5 is the buffet - food was not impressive

The hotel is new - and whilst it has excellent amenities and very friendly staff, it has undoubted teething troubles. we waited over an hour for a juice and a cheese sandwich on the first day and this happened a few times: never any staff near the pool to give out towels, lots of areas completely unstaffed. The pool area is beautiful but for the 4 days we were there no one ever topped up the soap or shower gel in the empty containers. the cleaners dropped glass all over our bedroom floor and it wasnt immediately cleaned up (our kids could have stepped on it. The Breakfasts were awesome, fresh fruit /juice and an omelette station etc but in the evening the food was completely inedible. Vile. and we had to send everything back. (I'm not that fussy!).

Thats said, it has an enviable position, close to loads of lovely restaurants and the children's facilitators and amenities were brilliant.

It will be better I think once its settled down!

The hotel is outside of Sintra but easy enough to get to the main sights if you have a car, and are able to deal with windy roads! Perfect hotel for relaxing should you wish to do so and although the service in the restaurant wasn't fantastic, the staff dealt with this situation well.

The hotel amenities, including pools, spa, and kids club, were perfect for our afternoons and evenings of relaxation after touring Lisbon and Sintra. The staff at the kids club was very attentive to our 9-year-old daughter and made the visit extra fun for her. The buffet breakfast was good, and the evening buffet had a wide variety. It will be nice when a second restaurant is opened at the hotel for a little variety in the evening since no other restaurants are nearby.

Location - isolated. Ten euros minimum taxi fare to Sintra (nearest town).

Room Service - No kettle, teas or coffee. Bedding not changed every day. Food menu ordered through TV with a 20 euros service charge. No menu/service booklet in room. Room service information provided only on TV for different services.

No evening entertainment (apart from pianist playing 2 hrs in lobby in the evening at weekends). Everything closes down at night.

Breakfast buffet - ran out of bananas. Stale cakes put out from previous mornings.

Curtains didn’t close. Net curtains only. We were on 3rd floor (ground level with road overlooking our room).

TV mainly Portuguese stations. Only 1 or 2 with English speaking.

No shop in hotel to buy anything.

Nice building, relaxing grounds, nice swimming pools with music playing.

The hotel just opened. It is brand new. Very modern. Still a bit \"under construction\" The inside pool is great. Unfortunately some details make the hotel a bit cheap (bathroom). The room we stayed was large and spacious. The view is also fantastic.

Para hotel de 5 ***** é fraco. O quarto não tem chaleira nem máquina de café. O jantar foi temático mas fraco. Na piscina interior não controlavam quem andava de touca.
Na piscina exterior, a certa altura apareceram mais de 20 crianças com os animadores a fazer tal espalhafato que mais ninguem pôde ir para a água. A bagunça foi dentro e fora da piscina. Tal como eu, mais pessoas estavam incomodadas.
Fora isso as instalções são boas e o pessoal simpático e atencioso.

Douro waar we toevallig ook 2 dagen hebben verbleven.

No me gustó. Dicen que es un hotel 5 estrellas pero no lo es.
Corrí una suite que no era confortable. Tenía un sofá horrible. La tele estaba en una posición muy mala y el WiFi no funcionaba.
El restaurante se parece a una cantina con camareros que no son de un hotel de 5 estrellas.

Incompatível com o que se espera de um 5* é o observado nas refeições: Jantar sem estatuto compatível com a classificação do hotel, agravado por situações como o exemplo de filetes de peixe cheios de espinhas; ao pequeno-almoço ainda havia restos de comida acidentalmente caída quando do jantar, debaixo da mesa. Significa que ninguém se preocupou em limpar a sala após o jantar. Não devia acontecer num 5*

El sitio donde esta el hotel es muy bonito, pero lejos de cualquier sitio con carreteras complicadas para desplazarte. En el spa no funcionaba el jacuzzi ni los chorros de la piscina.
La primera noche el restaurante no estaba preparado para recibir al número de clientes que tenia hospedados y fue un desastre la cena.
Para ser un hotel de cinco estrellas un poco desastre.
