The room was okay. The good things were that there was a large bathroom. Things that could be improved are larger nightstands, and better linens for the bed. There was a smell of cigarettes in the room but was able to ventilate by opening the doors.

Small, boutique hotel that had numerous cosy seating areas and lounges. We were upgraded to a suite and had a separate lounge. Just beautiful in every way. Black out shutters, comfy bed, clean bathroom. Host was super friendly and helpful. Restaurant food out rounding and much better than local village.
Couldn’t get a more perfect location. Walk down the hill 5 minutes to the village of Sintra and up the hill 5 mins to the Iniation Well and Palace. Cannot fault this place.

An absolute gem in Sintra. A beautiful hotel, our room was stunning with an enormous bathroom. The bed was divine and the room was quiet and spotless. There is parking available (see photo). Staff were very friendly and welcoming and are incredibly hospitable and proud of the hotel. Breakfast was fantastic and it is in a convenient location. I loved this hotel.

It was lovely but there is a bit of noise early from the desk if someone is looking to sleep in. I had an early start so it was fine for me.

What a beautiful little place. I had read about how difficult parking is in Sintra. We pulled up in front of the hotel where there were four spots sanctioned off. We were told it's OK to park there over night. The hotel was quaint, clean and the staff was beyond hospitable. This hotel is centrally located and you couldn't ask for a better place to stay.

The property is incredible and the location can't be beat. Rooms were clean and filled with charm. This was our second stay. The change we noticed was the hotel desk staff sat all day and were not helpful at all. They actually watched us struggling with our bags and never moved or offered assistance. Upon check-in the same thing happened, we had to ask if they could help us with our bags.

Gets all the little things right

We stayed here for one night in a last minute booking for Sintra. The room and breakfast cost about £120.

The hotel is traditional, but in very good way. It is very central and full of character. Within walking distance to many of the attractions. The whole place is spotless, characterful and the staff were welcoming and helpful.

Frankly, we had booked and expected something worn and run down and we're really happily surprised. We would return again and recommend to others.

Reception - smooth and straightforward. Staff helped with ad hoc queries during our stay.

Room - clean and spotless. Effective air con. Huge four poster bed! There was a fridge and coffee maker. The bed was firm (good) with good pillows. There was also a pillow menu. The room was quiet. The shutters and curtains blocked light well. We had an excellent night sleep.

Bathroom - again, spotless. Plenty of powerful hot water in the shower. There was a bidet. Miniature shampoo, conditioner, body wash and body lotion.

Breakfast - this was truly epic. Fantastic selection with really ripe and tasty fruit skewers, a good cooked selection, a good array of cheeses and meats. We would genuinely pay to do this as a buffet in its own right.

Other - we were able to leave our bags at the hotel once we had checked out. Parking is a pain (this is not the fault of the hotel).

Summary: we had a lovely and relaxing stay, with an excellent night sleep. We recommend this place.

Obviously a historic hotel that has been there for 200+ yrs, but the facilities were dated. The bathroom needs an update - grout missing/chipped sanitary wear. However was kept very clean and staff were very lovely and helpful. Also strange drain smell from my bathroom. Overall a nice stay but wouldn’t go back there again.

Stay here when you visit Sintra

The is a beautiful hotel. Historic, but with all the modern amenities a guest would need. The guest rooms are well appointed, and our room had a fantastic view of the forest. The staff is friendly and helpful.
We had dinner here and it was delicious!
Parking is available, which is a real plus in Sintra.

This is NOT a 5-star hotel. Expedia is misrepresenting this hotel and overcharging what it should be. It’s barely a 3-star.

Mosquitoes as big as your thumb. Mold on bathroom. Furniture and bedding like it’s from someone’s grandparents house. And the smell too. Bathroom sink is cracked. Lighting didn’t work.

Gross. Couldn’t get out of there fast enough.

Lawrence's Hotel is a charming historic hotel that was a delight to stay in. It is just a few minutes walk from the Sintra National Palace and from cute shops and good restaurants. It is also close to the bus stop for transport to the other Sintra castles. The hotel itself is lovely - our room had a beautiful view of the surrounding hills and towns and was very nicely decorated. There are cozy sitting rooms in the hotel for relaxation or conversation. The restaurant served delicious food (we ate both dinner and breakfast there and very much enjoyed both). I would be very happy to stay here again.

We could not have picked a better hotel from which to explore the idyllic area in and around Sintra. The hotel simply oozes charm, thanks to its venerable age and the high quality of its staff. Staying here is like staying in a hotel from a bygone age. The included breakfast was delicious and abundant. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay here and could have easily stayed longer. We highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again should we return to the area.

Lawrences Hotel is a charming, well appointed hotel just steps from the center of Sintra. We enjoyed the room and the breakfast. Because of it's age, it has a bit of wear and tear but the overall experience was good. Service, location and overall comfort were excellent.

This was a great find, did not realize how close this was to the main shopping and attraction areas of Sintra. Staff was excellent, and helped us to park our car nearby. The hotel has character. Breakfast buffet excellent. It is a great spot but not well suited to cars during peak tourist hours. I had to drop my wife at the door to check in and was then forced to leave her to allow others by. Fortunately we managed and hotel staff were excellent to help us.

This is the perfect hotel in the perfect location. The rooms are updated but maintain their charm. The staff could not be nicer. Has a wonderful sitting lounge to relax in. Older hotel with character. Away from the chaos and bustle of the tourist square but just a three minute walk into the heart of town. Nice breakfast included with the room. Lawrence Hotel is a lovely boutique hotel in close proximity to the hilltop castles in Sintra. Conveniently, we walked to dinner. Wonder old hotel right in the city center. It is the oldest working hotel on the Iberian Peninsula. Lord Byron would often stay there. Has been nicely renovated keeping the best of the old intact. Short on electrical outlets is the only drawback. There are enough however to get by. Internet conection is great

Terrible terrible. NO PARKING ANYWHERE. Hotel advertises parking - but non-existent! Drove around for 4 hours looking for parking. Hotel only has 2 spaces (taken). Offered us parking is dilapidated barn - narrow door and not secure - too dangerous for entry of rental car. Had to leave and stayed up the coast at Immerso in Ericierra (great experience). Warning - do not stay here! You will not be happy!

Lawrence’s Hotel is ideally located and almost all the major attractions are within walking distances. The hotel itself is a jewel not to be missed, it also has an excellent restaurant; the breakfast included with the stay is very enjoyable, especially in the large dinning rooms surrounded by beautiful scenes. The bedroom and living rooms carry plenty of the old-time charms. The (free) street parking during busy daytime is very difficult to get, but the crowds clear up towards evening and overnight parking is easy. If you stay Sinatra overnight, this is definitely the place to be.

The property consists of a newly rebuilt and decorated Chalet and the House of Falésia. The decoration is inspired by maritime and nautical motifs, with several decorative pieces harmonized with this theme.

The House of Falésia has common rooms. The navigators' room complements the maritime decoration, with a game table, television and various sofas; and the caravel room is the dining room where breakfast is served.

All stays include a continental breakfast with some sweet treats traditional from Sintra, being served either in the dining area or in the lodgings for greater privacy. A daily cleaning of the rooms is included throughout the stay.
