A beautiful and bucolic setting. Just be aware it is sort of resort/ retreat like vibe. There are a lot of steps to navigate so better for light travel (not too much luggage) and outdoors people vs. standard hotel/ inn stay.
The staff were lovely and extremely helpful. Sintra in this area requires a good amount of walking (including uphill). Uber and cars can be called as needed.

The view from the balcony is stunning. Service is extremely helpful. We were upgraded to a suite, which was a nice surprise. The walk to Sintra old town is about 15 minutes up hill. Not for the faint of heart, but well worth the walk.

Its a multi level room layout, Okay if you are young. The superior rooms that we booked was way down and we had to haul our luggage in a very difficult manner. Car parking is a nightmare , as anywhere in Sintra.

This hotel is a little oasis from the hustle of town. We had a beautiful view of the mountain and the three main palaces. Breakfast was plentiful and delivered by basket to our room at our chosen time. Parking was included which was a selling point as parking in Sintra is very limited. Town is only a 5-10 minute walk away, but it is up an extremely steep hill. Not easy for anyone out of shape or with mobility issues. Walls between rooms are a little thin, but a fairly quiet stay! We would definitely stay here again.

The staff was fabulous. When we arrived, they booked us tickets for the same day to go to the palace, arranged a taxi, and made us a dinner reservation. Although we were concerned about the lack of air conditioning ( it was HOT), the ocean breeze did come in and cool our room. A very pleasant experience.

Casa do Valle offers a home away from home setting in the Sintra area. I like that you can walk to town in 10 minutes up hill and it is down hill back to the hotel. Rooms had balconies and views. It was very comfortable and staff was friendly and helpful.

Hard to find driving, the sign is a tile in the wall and difficult to see. Google gets you there and then you need to look for the tile. Only 500 meters from the National Palace and central tourist area. Quiet location, nice views.

Quaint hotel in a beautiful location! Casa do Valle is located in a quiet spot about a 5-minute walk from the heart of old town Sintra. It is surrounded by trees and the sound of birds, and offers amazing views of the Moorish Castle and Pena Palace.
The staff is friendly and helpful. Our room was cute and comfortable with a small fireplace and balcony. It was on the small side, though, and it could use a bathroom and furniture refresh.

This B&B is in a quiet location, a bit out of the way. It is difficult to compare it favourably with the excellent Lisbon hotel we were in previously. The beakfasts were very good (delivered to your room) and the shower excellent. We were in a Superior room.

Beautiful place to stay in Sintra. It is not in the middle of all the tourist area, but it is a short walk away (uphill both ways of course, as seems to be everywhere here 😉). It is very quiet and charming, and the staff are amazing. The grounds of the villa are worth spending time and exploring, and there are many places where you can enjoy a coffee or glass of wine surrounded by beautiful nature. Only thing we regret is not having planned to spend more time in Sintra, as it is worth it.

Heater didn't work so it was a cold night. Steps to reach the room are slippery and without any night light so rather dangerous. Other than that, the staff is really nice and the room is nice too.

My friend and I were very impressed by Casa do Valle. The rooms were bigger than expected and very clean. I loved the simple but homey aesthetics. They had a Finnish sauna, massages, a pool, a teeny tiny library, and a shared dining space. The grounds were very well kept and had an amazing view of Pena Palace and the Moorish Castle all lit up at night. Staff were helpful, informative, and friendly. It was like a ten minute walk into the historic center. My friend and I, both female, felt perfectly safe walking back up at night. I highly recommend and I will definitely be staying again when I return to Sintra.

It is a little out of the way and somewhat tricky to find by car. Check your directions twice. The check in was very friendly. The standard room I stayed in was not inspiring. Low ceiling and rather spartan. Their upgraded rooms might be more exciting. Breakfast was simple, but good. It’s in a beautiful location with an amazing view of the valley and up to the castles.

We arrived at 19:12 and were charged 20 euros for late check in. I was definitely not pleased about it because this information was not provided before booking!
This place is indeed in a very good location to explore Sintra by foot which is the only way you can really explore it. It’s a 5 min walk to the town. Yes it’s uphill but really easy. Unless you are a very good driver in narrow roads, we suggest don’t drive here. You can not drive to the palaces - roads have traffic restrictions.
This is actually a sort of home stay, since the owners live in the main house. There’s then a 3 story detached building next to it, which is where all the rooms are. When we we were there, the place was empty.
The small garden with swimming pool has a beautiful view. Best part of this property!
The room itself (we stayed in a ground floor “triple room”) is very small and cramped (specially the bathroom - super super tiny!)
But somehow it has everything you need - a table, small fridge, microwave, water kettle, etc. and it’s actually quite comfy. Except for the mattress which was an old hard mattress - definetly not at Marriott standards ;)
We also loved the small glass house next to the kitchen that you can use.
Breakfast was excellent and it was brought to our room in the morning.
All in all we would stay again.

This place is indeed in a very good location to explore Sintra by foot which is the only way you can really explore it. It’s a 5 min walk to the town. Yes it’s uphill but really easy. Unless you are a very good driver in narrow roads, we suggest don’t drive here. You can not drive to the palaces - roads have traffic restrictions.
This is actually a sort of home stay, since the owners live in the main house. There’s then a 3 story detached building next to it, which is where all the rooms are. When we we were there, the place was empty.
The small garden with swimming pool has a beautiful view. Best part of this property!
The room itself (we stayed in a ground floor “triple room”) is very small and cramped (specially the bathroom - super super tiny!)
But somehow it has everything you need - a table, small fridge, microwave, water kettle, etc. and it’s actually quite comfy. Except for the mattress which was an old hard mattress - definetly not at Marriott standards ;)
We also loved the small glass house next to the kitchen that you can use.
Breakfast was excellent and it was brought to our room in the morning.
All in all we would stay again.

Disappointing stay
The room was a long walk from the car parking area over uneven steps and stones and there is a very strong smell of sewer gas on the grounds and in the room. At night there was very insufficient lighting which made for a dangerous walk. A flashlight is a necessity! The bed sagged to the middle. The city closed the road into the property for resurfacing and we were unable to find our way back after dinner. I called the property but didn’t hear back until 6:30 the next morning. Fortunately I prevailed upon the police guarding the resurfacing and he stopped the crew and had them move their equipment so we could return for the night. Driving in Sintra is a real challenge with VERY narrow streets, many one-way roads and extreme hills and curves. Not my favorite destination.

This was our favorite part of Sintra. Between the idyllic pool and the breakfast brought to your room each morning, we had an amazing time at Casa do Valle. We stayed in one of the rooms in the converted garage with so many windows and space, it felt like we were really splurging! Though a short walk into the main city center, the hotel is super quiet with parking available. Check-in was super easy and very helpful. Highly recommend to others!

The lower bedrooms look over a rustic valley with terraced vineyards, sheep grazing etc. Looking up the Moorish castle dominates the skyline. All this while having your breakfast on the terrace. These bedrooms are west facing so you can sleep late if you desire.

We had a really lovely stay here. The hotel is split over several garden tiers and our room was on the lowest level, at the end of the row with arguably the best unspoilt view of the castle and palace above us.

This is a fantastic guesthouse in Sintra, far enough from the tourists, but only a 10-15 minute walk to the National Palace, bars, restaurants and shops.

We stayed in number 8, one of the newer rooms with a terrace and on the end so no one walks past and more private. Fantastic view over the valley and up to the castle and Pena Palace, all lit up at night. Very hot so the pool at the end of the day was fantastic. Fully equipped kitchen on site for guests if you want to eat in on your terrace and breakfast brought to your room. Good selection of beer, wine and snacks available from reception and a fridge in your room.

There are a lot of steps up and down, but that applies to all of Sintra - it is a hilly place. The room had incredible views, service was excellent and breakfast is delivered to your room. It is a 10 minute up hill walk to the center of town. While you may need a car to get here, the traffic in Sintra is pretty bad, so plan on walking or using a taxi to get to the various palaces, gardens and castles nearby.

This was different from a hotel experience. As a guest house it offered a common kitchen to prepare meals if desired. Breakfast is provided in you room at a small extra cost if you wish it. Our room had it’s own WC and shower. Some rooms shared their facilities. There were several stairs that one needed to descend to get to the office and more to the rooms. Overall a good experience.

Set about a 10 - 15 minute walk (uphill) from the centre of Sintra making the location ideal to explore the area. Beautifully situated in lush countryside with the castle and Pena Palace visible on a clear day. There are 11 rooms at the guesthouse, set across the main house and annex. The rooms are clean and tidy, decent shower and a wood burning stove in room 6 was an added bonus. Kettle and toaster provided. One thing to note in room 6, there was no TV but there is free wi-fi. Off road parking is provided, especially helpful as the guest-house is in an area of restricted parking. Staff were knowledgeable and very friendly. There are two large Great Danes living in the main house but seemed friendly! There is an outdoor pool which would be lovely in summer, just too cold for March. The grounds are beautifully maintained with wraparound gardens and terracing on a few different levels. The communal guest kitchen in the lower terrace could be improved but again, in the summer when the BBQ is in use, I’m sure its a lovely space.

This was an excellent option for our brief stay in Sintra, and I wish we had been able to stay longer. The view from outside room our room is beautiful and it shows a castle on one side and hillside on the other. We were here in the winter, but I would imagine this would be an even more enchanting place to stay in the summer. Our room was below street level on the slop of the hill and thus there is no street noise whatsoever. Convenient parking, very important in Sintra if you are driving.
There was a surprising range of English-language television channels here, which is a major plus to me as I like to catch up after a full day of sightseeing on CNN, AlJazeera and the BBC as well as the junk tv fix of the E channel. Not sure why more hotels don't provide all of these, but I was happy to enjoy them here.

In the valley with a breathtaking view of Sintras beautiful castles, this Inn is a great stop if you want to be just a few minutes walk away from the main hustle and bustle of the old town. Located just down a steep hill, you can walk back to your room in about 20 min.
The rooms are simple and comfortable. There is a fan to help keep the air circulating when the weather is warmer.
