Lovely guest house ! Our room had a balcony with a view and was spacious. It had everything we needed and a nice hot shower . The included breakfast had a great selection of things to eat . The staff was helpful and polite.
The only thing I would mention is the bedroom area could use more lighting. The area was perfect and easy walking distance to lots of places .

The Águamel is a quaint and unique place to stay while in Sintra, hidden away from the main tourist noise. At least that was how it was for us when we stayed in February. Of course, any stay is only as good as the other guests who share the hotel with you.
The breakfast was lovely, albeit a tad later (served at 9) than we would prefer. The selection of food was plentiful and very yummy.

We loved this little hotel in the heart of historic Sintra! Just steps to all of the shipping and the lovely National Palace. Also right next to the bus stop for Pena Palace. I feel like we lucked out! It is charming. Highly recommend!

Nice hotel in the middle of the attractions and cute shops in Sintra, but nevertheless quiet at night. Clean, comfortable, beautifully decorated, with a nice touch of having refreshments available, especially the chocolate cake. Breakfast was fresh and varied, and the standard Portuguese fare.
BUT check-in was horrible due to lack of signage. Using street signs are already difficult in Portugal because they are hard to find and read. Although we had a map app telling us we were right on top of the hotel, we could not find it...because the hotel does not have legible signage visible from a reasonable distance. We were up and down the streets and stairs for ~20 minutes w/ our luggage, even asking nearby shop owners for directions (who could not provide any). My wife happened to walk up to what looked like a piece of paper on a door on a residence, which finally indicated the hotel's presence. My attached photo, taken from the walkway, should prove the inadequate/non existent commercial signage.
So book the hotel for its convenience and quality, but when checking in, just look for a piece of paper on a door, which will indicate you have happened upon your accommodation.

Perfect base for absorbing Sintra
Really comfortable hotel with beautiful views from the balcony. Our room (think it was Orange Blossom) was beautifully decorated and well provisioned. The honesty bar was a nice touch and very useful as there weren't any late night convenience stores that we found.

The best place if you want to visit Quinta da Regaleira, Pena Palace and Moorish Castle. Steps away from restaurants and shops. The bus stop is right next to the hotel. The service received was the best of all the hotels visited in Portugal. They helped us with everything, from before we arrived with specific instructions. The breakfast was very good. They kept our bags before and after check in so we felt comfortable visiting Cascais as well and returning to the hotel for our bags. The room was super comfortable and very nice. I would definitely stay at Aguamel again.

Literally the best location. Right up the street from the city center, right off the main street to either get a ride to pena palace or at the start of the hiking trail. 8 minutes from Quinta de Regaleria. Incredible location in the middle of all the restaurants and shops, easy pickup/drop off for taxi/uber/bolt super close, 10 minute walk to Quinta da Tegaleira and Initiation Well, 5 minute walk to National Palace, pretty much across the street from the trail/path to the Moorish Castle which was about 45 minutes up. Lovely complementary light breakfast until noon (fresh fruit, ham, prosciutto, cheeses, cereal, yogurt, bread, croissants, cakes, juices, coffee, tea). The host is so nice and knowledgeable and helpful. The room was gorgeous. Very spacious. Balcony and window that open to let in a beautiful breeze. One of the comfiest beds I’ve ever slept in. I can’t say enough good things about this boutique hotel. Book it! You won’t regret it.

The location is near the free parking lot if you are lucky to find one at right time. We arrived just a few minuses after the check in time. The door was locked. No one there. I have to use my cell phone to make International call on the numbers on the door. No one answer the call until I called 2nd phone number on the door. She gave me the code to go in. This supposed a guest house but the hostess do not bother to shows up to let guests in. It does not feel that guests are welcomed.

The property is well located to sites and restaurants. However there is an outdoor bar just outside property and you have to listen to drunks until wee hours of the morning. We couldn’t shut our windows because the air conditioning was not working and it was hot. Bring earplugs!

No air conditioning with a little fan that doesn’t push air at all. The bed is about 3 inches above floor meaning that it’s like your almost sleeping on the floor. The property is in an excellent location for walking around Sintra, whilst not being in the middle of the tourist area. The room was quiet, large and beautifully decorated and clean. We stayed in room 101 which had a balcony which was lovely to sit on in the spring sunshine. They kindly catered for us as vegans for breakfast. The people at the guest house were lovely and it's a bonus that you get to use the kitchen to hot drinks. We had a wonderful time, thank you.

Couldn’t be happier by staying at this guesthouse. It’s located right in the historical center and in the walking distance to many sites. The breakfast buffet was plenty. I had a bigger room with a balcony with a beautiful view over the hills. Definitely recommend staying here!

Once we found it.. we were very impressed by the location (right in the heart of historic) Sintra, the room was spacious and clean, and the breakfast was varied including boiled eggs, meat, cheese, fruit and bread. The Hostess was very pleasant and helpful with navigating around Sintra. Having a car is problematic due to limited spaces but once we got settled we parked our car close to our accommodations and left it there for the duration of the stay. I would recommend this place.

This was my first stay at a guesthouse and I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it was a lovely experience. My room was well decorated and cozy. The bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve slept in. There was a slight damp smell in the room, but it wasn’t overwhelming. Breakfast was delicious and filling. The hosts were very hospitable. The lack of an elevator wasn’t a major problem, but I would suggest packing light. Indira kindly helped with my bag which was appreciated. Great location. Would definitely stay there again.

The property is perfectly located near the Sintra city centre as well as the walking paths towards the castle/villa. It is also in immaculate condition with each room recently refurbished (or seemingly so). The downstairs common area is a very nice touch and guests have access to a fully kitted out kitchen and lovely tables/outdoor patio. The management was as good as it gets with lots of information provided, friendly chats, and very quick at responding to queries. I definitely recommend this guest house (hotel really) but do have to say it was a bit pricey.

A delightful small guesthouse - lovely room with balcony outside and view over Sintra. Very comfortable beds and an excellent shower! And we particularly liked the lovely wallpaper with orange blossom and birds! There was tea and coffee and homemade cake available in the downstairs lounge for guests to help themselves which was very welcome and the breakfast (buffet style) was lavish with a lot of choice. The guesthouse is located near the top of Sintra Vila with its picturesque winding streets and within walking distance of Quinta da Regaliera, one of the absolute must-see sights, We really wished we could have stayed longer!

And even though I missed breakfast, the owner brought out all of the leftovers again and served me. Really lovely man and very proud of his hotel, which was very quaint and charming.
The plugs were a little hard to navigate with North American adaptors because of where they were located, but we made it work.
The biggest complaint was the noise from the street. Unfortunately, the air conditioner was a bit too complicated for us to figure out after we came in late, so we needed the windows open (the hotel has limited reception hours so you can't just call down to the desk whenever). There was a bar just down the street with some super obnoxious customers, not to mention the motorcycle man who felt the need to compensate for something throughout the night by extensively revving his bike. I was so desperate for sleep I tried googling instructions at 2am on how to use the air, but still couldn't figure it out.
I am personally a very light sleeper, but my husband isn't, and even he had trouble sleeping with the windows open. So if you go during the summer, make sure you know how to use the a/c before bedtime! Despite that, I would still recommend the hotel, we had a good experience.

The Aguamel Guest House is a charming small hotel in the center of Sintra’s historic town center. The hotel is very cozy, clean, and well managed. The breakfast was fresh and delicious. The staff went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. The only thing I found uncomfortable was that our room on the top floor had a slanted ceiling on one side, and I was constantly running into it, since I’m just over 6’ tall. The breakfast room was a bit cramped, too. Overall we were quite happy with our stay, however.

The property consists of a newly rebuilt and decorated Chalet and the House of Falésia. The decoration is inspired by maritime and nautical motifs, with several decorative pieces harmonized with this theme.
The House of Falésia has common rooms. The navigators' room complements the maritime decoration, with a game table, television and various sofas; and the caravel room is the dining room where breakfast is served.
All stays include a continental breakfast with some sweet treats traditional from Sintra, being served either in the dining area or in the lodgings for greater privacy. A daily cleaning of the rooms is included throughout the stay.
