This hotel was stunning from the moment we pulled in. The Palace was lovely to walk through, the gardens were beautiful and provided may photo opportunities, and our room was pretty and had a large wardrobe to store all our clothes. I do wish we had a bigger bed as one double bed for two people was quite squishy but that was the only thing I’d change.
The food in their dining room was excellent, we felt so spoiled with endless options and nothing on their menu that disappointed. Their staff were knowledgeable, happy to make recommendations of where to visit in the area and treated us like royalty from the moment they opened the doors to welcome us in.

The service is above and beyond a five star hotel experience. They are so attentive, so accommodating and excellent at keeping you well informed of what spots to visit, eat at, etc. We were on our honeymoon here and the staff had prepared such thoughtful champagne, port wine already decanted (tasted at least 10 years), fresh fruit, and a filled nespresso machine.
I was even touched by their detail of providing us with one smaller pair of slippers and one bigger for my husband, and they are SO cute!
We regretted not staying there longer as we left at 8am for our tour. They boxed up our breakfast but the breakfast buffet looked glorious from a slight peek.
I absolutely will not forget the service of this restaurant as it made it an unforgettable experience. Thank you to the tall slender gentleman that checked us in (sorry I forgot your name but I hope you get credits for this review). You're the best!

This is a unique property. In history, kings and queens stayed on site. The building is still a very impressive structure.
The good...the front staff is wonderful. The breakfast is very good.
The bad... The property is tired and BADLY needs a refresh. Important...the hotel is on a one-way road at the top of a mountain. A cab ride to town takes a half hour. The one way road circles the entire mountain before it turns back to town. You can walk down the one way road to town in about the same time...but the walk back up the mountain requires mountain goat DNA. Walk down and take a cab up.

There was an ant problem in the room, my room had a leak in the bathroom
THat needed to be fixed. The plumber came up to fix it when we left the room buy when we came back hours later, the plumbers tools were sprawled in the bathroom and the tiles were still t removed. We needed the room asap- we needed prepare for a wedding. It took 15 minutes fr him to come up and get the room ready for us to shower. Also when I checked out , iwI as given a bill for $180 euro. My bill was much less. I asked about it and he changed it, but on top of the ants and the plumbing issue- it was too much. Beautiful but my 3-day stay as filled with too many issues!

A nice splurge!

When you stay at a castle or palace in Europe, you want to feel the history. This palace gives you a great feel! Room is wonderfully comfortable, and after you arrive and clean up, you can stroll the well-apointed and preserved rooms and hallways. We did not try the restaurant for dinner as we wanted to try places in town, but the breakfast was stellar. When booking here and driving, you may want to get directions from the hotel if you're driving in at night as the local streets can be a bit challenging to navigate and are one-way, but no biggie.

For the cost of this hotel, I expected a bit more. I was traveling with my friend and had requested a room with 2 twin beds and got a confirmation from the hotel that the request was confirmed. But unfortunately, they did not have a room with twin beds for us and told me that I had requested a double bed - which I didn't. I had to show the email i received from the hotel staff member with the confirmation from the hotel o show that I had indeed asked for 2 beds. In itself, that wasn't a big deal, but I thought they might have showed they were sorry some other way - perhaps a bit off of the bill or - because we dined at the fancy restaurant in the hotel - a glass of champagne or something. But it was pretty much like we're sorry and that's it. We spent over 600 for one night with dinner at their restaurant. And while we were there, the power went out in Sintra - so crazy! Which I realize isn't there fault, but still added to the overall experience - thankfully their backup generator came on. Some guests didn't have hot water! This also isn't the best place to stay in terms of getting to the city center - it's a one way street and to go around to get back to the city center takes like 50 min via car. So be prepared to walk. Going down the big hill is easy - coming up the hill is not. Sintra is still an amazing place though. The hotel does seems like it could use a little refresh in the decor too. I think the property just changed owners - perhaps that's on their roadmap.

Palacio de Seteais is one of the loveliest hotels we have stayed at. The location is fantastic, the palace is beautiful and the service is top-notch. The front desk staff was very welcoming when we arrived and helped us to book a trip around Sintra. The spa is also wonderful -- Catia is so kind and creates a great atmosphere for relaxation. We truly loved our experience and hope to come back soon!

While the grounds were very nice and the staff quite friendly, we were very disappointed for the price we paid for the night. If you are looking to sweat off the Portuguese wine while sleeping, this is your place. I’ve never been so hot at a hotel and the AC was not operational. We managed to get a window open but had to use my shoe to prop it open. Finally to top it off we got very little sleep given our neighbour was testing the limits of apnea and snoring. If it’s not the peacocks crowing 24/7 then it’s staff having full conversations at 2AM just as you fall asleep. One more thing, don’t count on any shuttle service and plan on paying €15-20 for an Uber or the 20 minute hike up the steep hill. Disappointed given the high price!!

I love everything about it, except one little thing, my room was on the ground floor by the driveway, I could hear the cara pass by, people who passed by were talking loudly and screaming on the phone which woke me up a few times, although everything else was wonderful but I didn’t have a good night sleep due to the noises.

Next time, I will definitely book a room in the back of the hotel, much more quiet.

Such an amazing property! Literally felt like royalty from the moment we pulled up. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We traveled with two children. The grounds were my personal favorite. I have never seen such a beautiful garden, pool, etc. The restaurant was absolutely amazing for dinner and buffet breakfast. Five star! The room had a bathtub and amazing pressure in the shower! The beds were extremely comfortable! I wish we would've stayed in Sintra for more than one night! Walking distance to Quinta da Regaleira. Pena Castle requires more of a taxi ride unless you want to hike for an hour.

We will surely be back one day! Book this place! Zero regrets!

The rooms were very comfortable. The views and scenery were lovely, and it was close to town and the sites we wanted to see. I think the hotel needs more comfortable seating in the lounges. For this size hotel, were only 2 couches in the lounge area for families to gather, and no couches or comfortable seating in the bar, which has the potential to be a lovely bar. Also, the rug throughout the hotel was old and dirty. Definitely needs updating.

Best hotel in Sintra. Stunning!

This is one of the best palace hotels in Portugal and certainly the most luxurious place to stay in Sintra. The building and the garden are beautiful with stunning views. There is a large outdoor pool and a spa. Walking distance to many heritage sites and restaurants in Sintra village.
Great service and there is a lift, large TVs in every room.
Delicious food, we had many meals there.
One downside was that heating was broken in some of the bedrooms so it was very cold at night. We had to borrow an electric heater and we didn’t have any engineers visiting to fix the issue.

It was pretty amazing to stay in a palace and we were definitely amazed walking in, loved the outdoor space. The room was a bit small for the price, carpet severely stained and moldy shower curtain. Considering we stayed at 5 other hotels in Portugal for half the price, we had higher expectations. It’s in a good location but might be more worthwhile to pop in, take a look around and have a meal rather then stay.

Picturesque stay in Sintra palace

The property is a gorgeous old palace and within walking distance to a little village in Sintra. We arrived on New Years Day, so could not visit any of the local sites, but the hotel had such fine gardens and architecture, we did not mind. We had a quality lunch outside on the terrace from the bar menu. Our room was a good size, with two adjacent twin beds, a seating area, large bath and a lovely terrace with a view over the valley. All high quality furnishings and antiques throughout. More formal dinner in the dining room (complete with harpist) made for a lovely end to our visit in Portugal.

This palace was breathtaking & an incredible place to stay. The rooms were gorgeous with stunning antiques & era-relevant silk curtains, etc. The only complaint I have was regarding the service... everything was extremely SLOW. Getting a cocktail became a joke with our group because it took 30-45 minutes to get anyone's attention, much less a drink to be made. At dinner, we kept having to flag down our server, though we were only 1 of 2 tables in the restaurant that evening. Check out took over 45 minutes due to technical issues & someone being trained. Once they work on the service, they will have nailed it at this hotel.

The place is amazing! Great location and beautiful. Six of us were traveling together. When we arrived at the hotel they said our rooms would not be ready until around two so we went sightseeing. This was okay with us since there is lots of sightseeing to do! When we returned to the hotel very hungry for lunch we were seated right away. Thirty minutes after ordering just a beverage one drink arrived! Ten minutes later two more drinks arrived...you get the picture. Other people arrived and were seated. Bread ( which we had asked for several times ) and drinks were brought to them long before we had any. They were given menus and order taken before we were served our drinks! It was almost comical except we were starving at this point. By the time we were finished with our lunch it was practically time for dinner!
Not a great experience and I think very rude on their part.

The stay was great. The place is very romantic and beatiful. Staff was exceptional. They went above and beyond to meet our expectations. High five for cleanliness and service. Beddings were high quality and very comfortable. Grounds well kept. Great job on the gardener part. Look like the place were well kept and managed. Great breakfast in a gorgeous dining room. We were looking forward to use outdoor pool but water was too cold. Heated pull and hot tab would be a nice addition to this property. Overall 10 out of 10. If we going back to Sintra we would definitely stay in this property again. Highly recommend it. 👍😊

This hotel is a magnificent palace on top of a hill with excellent view. Truly wonderful staffs and service. Rooms are clean, there is a beautiful garden, tennis court and a pool.

Restaurant is formal and food is excellent. Historic sites are in walking distance.
