I highly recommend staying here for at least a few nights before catching a flight at the airport. The hotel itself is nothing crazy but still pretty nice, the staff are nice and your room is cleaned properly but it smelled like the sewer right outside my room. The location is what is so great, there is easy access to Surin Beach which is a really cool spot and if you journey just a bit to the other side you can visit Laem Sing Beach. Surin beach for sure has more going on but i recommend checking out both. Additionally, there are some decent restaurants and massage/spa parlors in the area.

Don’t be fooled

The money we paid for a “4 stars hotel” are not worth it. This hotel isn’t a 4 star one considering the dirty duvets, bad smell in the room, old furniture full of stains, dirty windows and mirrors. The shower is terrible with wooden windows which never closed. When someone above you was taking a shower, their water was pouring in your shower due to the windows which won’t close. You should see the fan at the restaurant- full of dirt and dust:)) also, even if the staff is friendly they don’t speak English. If I was managing this hotel, I would make from it a really great one with such a view and great location and be more careful with the services I offer. Pls avoid eating at their restaurant, there are lots good ones at 5-7 min walking.

Beautiful location. Good food. Easy access to the beach. Some of the hallways have a rotting water/ sewage smell. I mentioned this to multiple staff members. They shrugged and said, “What smell?” I took from that, “This is Thailand, things smell.” Otherwise great hotel.

Good location with direct access to surin beach. Lobby area as per pictures. Room spacious and clean. Had a room which was a connecting room (201A), I could hear the people in the room next door through the connecting doors so not good sound proofing.
Balcony area was big however had only 1 chair (was just me anyway) but the glass of the balcony could do with a clean!!
Good variety for breakfast. Only had toast so couldn’t comment on the rest.
Would stay again but only for a few nights.

Nice place, comfy bed, great balcony. The staff is super friendly and check in was easy. Location is fine. Not a ton of things to walk to unless you walk up/down a huge hill on the road but right on the beach, great views. There was a smell in our bathroom that I didn’t love but nothing unbearable.

3rd time staying here, always amazing, you can’t beat it in terms of location and views for the price. Very clean rooms and nice staff. Breakfast selection was limited but that’s to be expected in the off season as a lot of food would go to waste if there was a big spread. Top floor pool could do with some renovation of its tiles.

What an amazing hotel, rooms open up to balcony overlooking the ocean. The hotel itself could use a little maintenance and updating. But, wow...open the sliding glass doors, turn on the fan and sleep to the sound of the ocean. Great breakfast. Great staff. Walk to the beach!

Booked Ocean front and could not see the water due to trees in front of room. Cleanliness of bathroom not good. Prior guests hair in the shower, but not removed for the two days of stay. Clippings on the floor. Aircon kept turning off by itself at night. Power kept tripping for room.

Great staff - room needs updating

Very nice location and great service. However, I felt the room could use some updating. The ceiling in our room leaked. Also the shower pressure was so low and the shower head sprayed everywhere it was almost unusable. The breakfast included in the room was not good and definitely did not appear sanitary. Ultimately, the staff made the stay a lot better and were very helpful.

Amazing place. We got the room with the pool right off the patio. Got room service drinks delivered to the room to watch the magnificent sunsets. Beach is a short walk down the stairs. We have our own little cove with clear water and sea life swimming around...good for snorkeling or just taking a short little swim with your goggles. There is a nice strip of restaurants a short walk down the beach...not more than 2-3 minutes...with delicious Thai foods like chicken skewers, spring rolls, chicken curry and grilled prawns. Would stay here again and would absolutely pay the extra cash to get the poolside room with the view. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful...always smiling. Great breakfast bar free with room. Good vibes around this place. 10/10.

The location is excellent. Surin beach is right below the hotel and the water is crystal water!! There is the best restaurant in phuket just at the beach. We also love the massage service and rooftop beach (highly recommend to try both) provided by the hotel where you can relax completely or enjoy the overview of the entire beach! The only thing to improve is the shower that it’s blocked and the water doesn’t run smoothly.

We chose this hotel because of the proximity of the ocean and the spectacular views and we certainly weren't disappointed in that respect.
The ocean views are amazing from every room, the restaurant and the pools.
While the rooms were fine you probably wouldn't pick this hotel if it wasn't for the views. Maintenance doesn't seem a high priority with management there. Though it's only a 10 min walk to the main street it is a walk where you don't really pass any shops at all on the way so in that respect is not on the best side of Surin

great quiet hotel with superb staff

the hotel is located in a great location far away from the busy Patong beach for quiet time. The staff are helpful and the facilities are still in a manageable condition. However, the hotel is not located near a bus stop or shop house. Travelers are required to walk along the road to the bus stop and it dangerous at night due to little to no lights. It would be great if the hotel has shuttle bus services traveling to Patong at different intervals timing.

Soooooo amazing! Seriously the best location for everything, close to almost every attraction and adventure. Elephants, zip lines, view points. The rooftop bar was perfect with the a big pool and best view of the sunset. We didn’t find a better spot for sunset other than our hotel. Air conditioning was great, view from balcony of beach ocean, sunset! Even from our shower! Shower had hot water, towels that smelt great as well. Breakfast every morning was a treat, had it all.
THE ONLY BAD THING!
DO NOT RENT MOTORBIKE FROM TAXI/motor bike GUY RIGHT OUTSIDE THE HOTEL. TOTAL SCAM, asked for way to much, doesn’t inform you of any rules, laws. Actually lies and tells you your good don’t worry. We got pulled over twice by police, fined both times. good thing we had our helmets on even tho he said we don’t have to cuz you DO.
If you are not liscenced to ride a motor bike in your country you cannot ride it in Phuket. They fined me for having only a type C liscence. Went back to return the bike three days remaining on the total package. NO REFUNDS. Worst excuses you could think of. Wasted 3 hrs of my vacation talking/waiting/arguing with this dumb guy. I told him you should warn guests... he just said “oh yeah they will ticket you for that.” Yeah no $@!& I’m telling you I got a ticket after you told me I’m good...!

Mouldy bed sheets. Shower drain needed to be cleaned as the shower kept flooding. Restaurant was terrible, the food was shocking. The beach access is a joke, we had to literally walk through someone’s hut and a closed restaurant to get to the beach. When I raised all my concerns with the manager he told me he didn’t care and to just pay for the food we didn’t eat. He didn’t listen even though I had photos of the mouldy bed sheets. Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. I’ve stayed in better hostels.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The room was excellent and the staff were extremely helpful. The breakfast in the mornings was very nice, it was a mix of local and foreign food with plenty to choose from. It is situated in a great location next to a smaller town where you can go for a nice message or great local food. I would highly recommend this place to anyone

Oceanfront hotel, far from shops, restaurants

We stayed at this hotel for one nigh on our last day of the Thailand trip. We reached there late in the evening and we were tired. Hotel is facing the ocean and there is great view. However, there were no nearby shops or restaurants and we had to eat at their café. Food was over priced and quite bad but we had no other options. Next morning, it was nice to walk on the rocks and beach. Ocean is quite rough and swimming is not allowed.

Breakfast was excellent and included fresh fruits, hot dishes, noodles, curry and much more. Almost like a brunch.

I can’t say I would stay here again. The room was clean enough but bath towels were all stained. Where eating was available it smelt of sewage so we ate in the room. We got room service delivered and was given a bottle of champagne when wine was ordered and they wouldn’t change it even though it was unopened, hence to say the champagne was extremely expensive and the glass I was given was terrible no bubble at all to drink a $130 bottle which I would pay $70 at home. Will not return.

Unfriendly staff; Room value was just \"meh\"

We arrived from our international flight around 11:30 am, and we were hot, tired and hungry. They neglected to mention that we were not allowed to check into our room earlier than 2 pm, so we ended up sitting around for hours, in the heat, before we could unwind and enjoy the day. The staff seemed annoyed and unfriendly, for the most part, and while it may just be the result of being in a resort town, it certainly didn't live up to the \"Land of Smiles\" reputation that Thailand is known for. Our room had an incredible view and balcony, which was a plus, but the awkwardly tight for space bathroom smelled weird and had rusted pipes and a moldy countertop. One morning, my 10 year old wanted to stay in the air conditioned room a bit longer and attempted to bring her breakfast back to the room, but she was snapped at by another seemingly annoyed staff member that breakfast food was \"not allowed to be taken back to the room\". Finally, at checkout, I paid for the expensive airport transport, which had been arranged the day prior, only to find out that a reservation had not been made for us at all. The staff offered no apologies, and left us sitting in the lobby with no information until I returned to the desk with greater urgency in my tone. It was kind of a bummer ending to a less than stellar experience. I would not recommend this place for anything other than the amazing view of the beach. I imagine you could find that somewhere else that offers better customer service.

Really disapointed with our arrival at this hotel. From the outset, it looked a little shabby, we didnt stay so cannot mention the room as we requested a balcony but none available other than the honeymoon suite for which we would have been charged a considerable amount of money. Our arrival time was early so took the opportunity to look around. The hotel in general looked tired, there was a bit of work being done on the site as we arrived. The hotel calls itself a Resort, it is far from that. The front of the hotel sits on a very busy main road, this is also another route the hotel offer as access to the beach meaning you will have to walk along the main road which provides no lighting or footpath. The direct access to the beach from the hotel is bloody dangerous and poorly planned, the shower facility the hotel offer is disgusting. All in all, not as advertised these points made us look for a different hotel as we would have had to endure this for 11 nights. We found a brilliant hotel (JW Marriott resort and spa).

Awesome beach view and beach access resort

We arrived and was greeted with a smile at the door then shown to where the check in area was. As we were checking in, we were given water to drink while everything was getting put together. After maybe 5 min, we were shown to our room and also shown where everything was.
We were treated like VIP's whereever we went. We visited the bar/restaurant area and had food and drink. They Also have a nice rooftop swimming pool and easy access to the beach.
The rooms are big and have a beach view. Everything was clean.
The beach is nice and not crowded. Also good for snorkeling, all kinds of different beautiful fish. You can rent gear but if you go more than once would suggest walking to the public beach area where there are vendors and buy a pair. You'll save money.
The area is fun. The resort rocks! Wish we would have stayed another night but live and learn.

The hotel is located right nect to the beach, but over the hill top. So the walk to the beach is actually a climb down a rocky path.

The hotel decor seems to have been a rushed job. The corridor to our rooms were dark.... especially during the day, there are no windows and the lights were off.

But overall, the staff is very pleasant and made our 4 days very stress free.

We stayed here for 1 week. We had the balcony view of the ocean; great view of ocean and beach. The rooms need updating especially the bathroom. The toilet would slowly leak but we just covered it with a towel. The bathroom didn’t have a proper door so we used incest to mask the “smell”. There were no dressers to put your clothes in but the did have a number of hangers to hang some clothes. So you pretty much have to take your clothes out your suitcase everyday. The walk to restaurants and 711 is 10 minutes and the beach is 5 mins walk. The beach is very nice with clear waters. I would recommend this hotel if you are there to relax in a quiet place. Food in hotel is somewhat pricy so I recommend walking to restaurants. The pools are nice and Taken care of.

The hotel photos make this place look amazing, in reality it was really disappointing. The bathroom smelled horrible and the keys to the room are super ackward. When you shower, the room starts to smell like something something is going to catch on fire. If you are a detail oriented person, don’t stay here. It’s not clean. Good location, but too expensive for the quality. This place is at best 2-3 stars.

Hotel on top of a steep hill off a busy road with narrow or no pavements.
Whole place including small rooms/balconies and tiny bathroom not up to scratch.
Mirrors were filthy, nail varnish all over worktops.
I've stayed in much better hotels in Thailand for half the price.

Lovelt but empty

Unusual to be in such a posh and modern hotel with only a couple of other guests. Pool is brilliant and room is lovely. Staff are very slow with drinks, food and returning change. Menu is limited though priced well. Unhappy about service charge and VAT on everthing. Taxi at 700 baht to airport is our most expensive in our 4 week Thailand travelling adventure: crazy price! Thank you.

The pictures of this hotel are deceiving. The hotel is in need of repairs and not well maintained. There are missing tiles in and around the infinity pool. The plumbing in the room looked ancient. There was no shower door and the bathroom mat and floor ended up soaked after one shower. The room had a very strong scent of menthol, similar to Vicks Vapor Rub. This is a smell liked by the Thai people but this hotel went overboard with sachets of this smell in the bathroom. It permeated the entire room and made it unpleasant to be in the room.
The service at the hotel was terrible. My daughter and I struggled to move an umbrella at the pool and the staff did not offer to help. We moved to another hotel after one night there. As we pulled our luggage up a ramp to the front desk, two staff passed us and didn't offer to help. After staying in three other hotels in Thailand, it is easy to say that this hotel had the worst service.

Unexpectedly Disappointed Honeymoon Stay

5 star view with 2-3 star everything else, the resort prides itself on its special location, but that's the only thing they can brag about for being 5 star. Everything else you can find at another 3-4 star hotel. I booked the honeymoon suite for my Fiance and I, although we did enjoy the view. We quickly found discomfort in our stay. The air conditioner that takes time to have an effect on the room turns itself off every hour it seems, a timed fan above the room, the hotel attempts to save power and money over pleasuring their guests. Another instance is accidentally spilling a full drink at the beginning of our meal and it took the staff 10-15 minutes to clean the mess all while not providing another drink, maybe it's selfish to assume another free drink, but I'd expect a 5 star resort to strive for experience of their guests. To top it off, on my final day, I had gotten ill, the stomach flu, which I am assuming came from the resort's breakfast as they leave their milk and other drinks sitting in direct sunlight with no ice surrounding the vases. The hotels taxi driver being upfront about asking for tips and voicing disappointment at us not doing so upon drop off to the airport. Overall, I am disappointed with how the Surin Resort runs itself, what it does have is a beautiful view of the ocean and a semi-private beach. I will not book this resort again.

Amazing view but needs updating

Wow... The view here is amazing and the staff was super friendly and attentive. The room was really great. But, it's a little far from everything now since they demolished the night clubs on the beach to make the beaches more natural looking. Taxis to nearby places will be B300-500, or you can rent a scooter. The continental breakfast is satisfactory... kinda, but the restaurant is really awful. They could really benefit from a professional chef and menu. The lobby is a bit tacky especially with the REMAX advertisements. DO NOT use the \"stairs\", which are actually a ramp for luggage. The slope is too steep, and the ramp is slippery. My wife hurt her back, and when I complained to the staff, their response was not an apology but advice that it was for luggage, even when I said there should be a sign. Overall the property needs a bit of updating. This place could be really amazing... But they're struggling to make ends meet financially, and instead of investing, they're cutting corners to save money by doing the above things instead of providing normal amenities like normal size (not mini) bottles of water.

It's a private beach, staff are very helpful and friendly, room was on the view to the ocean it was a great experience!

Surn Beach Rsort May 2017

Was a great place to stay with fantastic views and sunsets.
Only dissapointing aspects were the following.
1: Access to the beach not good if your infirm an aged person(should be made safer)
2: Pool bar staff on V level not very friendly and spent more time talking on thier cell phones or taking pictures of girls rather than be good bar staff.
3: Pool was dirty after rain and seemed like nobody bothering to make clean.
4: Food in the restaurant was awful I sent one meal back only have another just as bad..
5:Breakfast was boring same thing almost every day... not hard to put some variation into breafast menu I would think.
In a nut shell would I stay there again ( Most definately Yes even considering the above)
Swimming at the far end of the beach is much safer than near the hotel and nice bar in the shade that end guy is really nice and friendly.

Very nice hotel with superb view, friendly staff

I stayed in this hotel for 4 days. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean and with comfortable bed and amazing ocean view. It's only 4 min walk to the beach! The only downside was the food. I wouldn't recommend to eat in the hotel. We had breakfast and there was a poor selection of food. Other than this we loved it and would strongly recommend to stay there.

amazing view!

Views & close proximity to the beach make up for the slight disappointment at the room not being quite as described, showers etc dated & not great, but everywhere was clean & staff were friendly. Restaurant food was great as was breakfast. Would return but go for a pool room next time.

Snobby staff and non-accomodating

we arrived a day late as we got very ill and spent the night in the hospital. We asked to simply shift our reservation one day (not asking for any refund) and the check in lady said there is nothing she could do. The hotel would not give us anything for missing our first night and wouldn't allow us to extend one more night. In fact, Expedia tried to update the reservation and they said Nancy at the hotel would not allow any changes to our reservation with no exceptions. We ended up paying for a night we didnt even use. The next morning we went to breakfast and had no idea breakfast was included as we were not told this at check in. Others in our party had similar check in issues and were sick and just wanted toast for breakfast and the waiter said he knew they were sick but they had to pay for the breakfast buffet in full as no a la cart was allowed. My friend also had left her iPad at the previous hotel and we asked the front desk to let us know when it arrived and they said no, we needed to keep checking back. all in all, this is a hotel that has the worst customer service and when you ask for anything, the answer is and was always NO.

Best view and great stay

Best view in Phuket for breakfast and sunset. Infinity pool is another highlight as are the cocktails especially the Thai Bloody Mary. We also used the gym which is simple but good for some cardio to work off the cocktails. The Surin beach area is quieter than previous trips but looks like some new development could bring more night time and dinner options. Bangtao is a very close alternative (250 baht) if you want more activity than currently found at Surin. The hotel is right on the beach with great snorkelling at the foot of the hotel

Great location terrible resort

Location - Perfect right in front of the beach with easy access.
Rooms- Rooms are very bare, with minimal furniture, bathroom small. Shower head old and full of greenish stuff, hot water did not work on shower, extremely bad putrid smell coming out of shower drain when in use. Balcony is of good size but has no chairs or sunbeds (specially the rooms with pool access), the only thing we had to sit was a side concrete bench which was extremely uncomfortable. overall room lacked the conditions expected for a 4* hotel.
Pools - there wee 3 infinity pools, all of them had algae and the water was green - unsafe to be used, we have complained and were told they had ended contract with pool cleaning company. luckily the beach is beautiful and clean.
Breakfast - extremely basic with little selection, we didn't eat much as we were worried about getting sick
Overall resort feel- a big mass of concrete, front is terrible wall with dying palms, cushions on the foyer seats were worn and yellowish, definitely not as shown in photos and not a 4* resort

Nice hotel, very friendly staff. Drinks at the bar are too pricey. Good beach, not crowded at all, but there are no beach chairs provided by the hotel, you have to rent it from local vendors.

Great stay with fantastic view!

Over all the hotel was very good. Would certainly recommend a stay. Check-in was very smooth and quite informative which helps to settle down. Even the staff on the service desk is brilliant.
The only criticism I have is with the staff at Breakfast, they are not at all welcoming and in fact it made us feel unwelcome. We were told to go for breakfast 1 15 minutes early due to our tour, when reached they behaved as if they are obliging us and totally unacceptable and rude behaviour.

The only one Surin beach hotel with direct access

This is the only one hotel at Surin beach that has direct access to the beach, which is very convenient. I like Surin beach because it is not very crowded, clean and quiet. It is much better than Paton beach or some other beaches. However, nothing enterntaining is around on a walking distance. So if you need to go out for dinner, shopping there are two options: renting motorbike from a hotel or asking for taxi. To be precise, driving motorbike will take only 5-7 minutes to good restaurants or making shopping. The hotel has very nice pool and breakfast area. Breakfast is OK. Room was OK size but bathroom was extremely small, with constant bad smell from toilet that hotel staff tried to mask by placing air freshener. Bath towels are very old and look bad. Hotel staff is very nice and try to be helpful as much as they can

Only a beautiful view

Definitely disappointing! The overall status of the hotel building requires renovation, not cosy, the rooms are ready only at 2:00pm, only 1 restaurant where the staff is not smiling and service oriented. I understand why the breakfast is included since it's really basic, equivalent to a campus restaurant. Overall the meals are not testy including the local specialities. I upgraded my bedroom but still nothing in the fridge (mini bar), on the terrace like a uncomfortable concrete bench only, no more seats. Forget the swimming pool on the roof top - not well maintained. The water was greenish and the bar closed. The coffee machine was broken in the other bar located in front of the beach. Access to the beach not easy, very risky. Except the view on Surin beach from the rooms and terraces, it's possible to find a best accommodation in Phuket.

A five night stay to relax

The hotel is of an unusual construction being on the edge of a small cliff. The main structure is of 4 floors served by an efficient lift. To reach the restaurant area there are steps to negotiate and indeed to reach the beach there are more steps with a scramble over rocks. I am an active 78 year old male and managed it. The beach is soft sand, the sea was warm and inviting. Young children could look for crabs among the rocks when the tide was out.
There are 3 pools at different levels with sun beds.
The breakfasts are self service buffet style with a wide range of choices and I considered the selection more than adequate.
Evening meals are available from a comprehensive menu at reasonable prices and my experience of the quality was good.
The staff were very helpful and dealt with problems fast. Very clean.
Finally I must mention the bathroom area which has been mentioned in previous reports - smallish but adequate most importantly the shower worked well with a good supply of water. The pipe work looks old but the hotel was only opened 18 months ago so is part of the design.
I enjoyed my stay, it was a quiet location which suited me. Would I return - yes if I were to revisit Phuket.

Superb view with Terrible Services =(

I am trying to be objective. This hotel itself is nice with spectacular view which I have no doubt. However the services , from the reception to the other staff in the hotel are horrible. Whenever I requested them to help me something , since I had my baby with me so I needed more help than a normal traveler , they refused to help and told me to ask the other staff myself. I was totally shocked for this type of services given the high ranking it has gotten ( I think the rate mostly due to the view only). also the pool was not clean , I am sure it was not clean frequently. What a pity for this nice hotel to equip with unhelpful staff like this. If you travel with family or kids , don't stay in this hotel or you must regret.

Perfectly Situated to Feel Luxurious and Local

I can't say enough good things about this resort. The staff was extremely friendly. The Hotel sits just next to the beach. From the lobby you can walk down the staircase to the rocks and there is a small path (15 steps) to the local beach where there are thai massages offered, chairs to layout on and a local outdoor restaurant that had the best thai food I had while in Phuket.

Paradise Found

If you want a quiet place with both the view and the beach close by, as well as the pool overlooking the beach, and great value for money. ..This place is for you! We loved every minute of our stay at Surin beach resort...The view from our room was spectacular and we could walk downstairs to the beach in two minutes. Food was good, staff friendly and helpful. 5 minute walk into town where you can find restaurants and shops. Doesnt have the same busy vibe as some Phuket beaches (and we loved this!). Will definitely return.

Million dollar view....dissappointing hotel

This hotel needs to sharpen up many aspects if they want to get a high rating. Views are to die for but I found the hotel itself to be a concrete jungle. Balconies don't have chairs, private pool rooms only have a concrete slab to sit on.....extremely uncomfortable. Noises echo down the corridors...with doors closing (you have to bang them shut) and staff chit chatting. Breakfast is just adequate, but if you want a herbal teabag it costs you extra. The bathroom is extremely narrow, and need more hooks to hang towels, toiletry bags etc. most staff are pleasant. The rooftop pool again has a wonderful view....but no big palms or greenery to enhance all the concrete. This hotel is quite new but large sections of verandah ceilings are falling down and rotting. Steps to walk down to the beach are only 3/4 the way....you have to tread on sand bags and rocks for the last few metres??? Totally unacceptable . When I pay $250 a room in Thailand I expect a little bit more than surin beach resort offered.
