Staff was very respectful and responsive. The food and drink were expensive relative to local restaurants, so we went into Crucecita to eat on most nights.

The room was spotlessly clean. We loved sitting on the balcony watching the birds fly overhead and the morning scent from the forest was great. We spent at least a couple of hours at the pool each day and enjoyed lunch and drinks there. There are about 125 steps to go down to the pool or beach but the hotel will call a shuttle take you back up to your room. Staff was excellent.

I would highly recommend spending a little extra for a room with a private pool. We made great use of ours, along with the spacious balcony. The room itself was a good size, clean, and comfortable. Because it’s a smaller property, the hotel felt quiet and relaxed, and the main pool and beach area were never crowded. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the bed was very comfortable — it was also extremely quiet at night, making for a great sleep.

We enjoyed the food at the hotel restaurant, though we found it quite expensive — roughly double the price of similar meals in La Crucecita, which is about a 10-minute taxi ride (around 100 pesos). There are also a few restaurants within a 15–20 minute walk if you prefer to stay nearby. A kettle or microwave in the room would have been a nice addition for making tea or heating small items.

The hotel has a unique look and lots of character, surrounded by trees, lush vegetation, and birds. The hillside location offers amazing views — my favorite moments were watching the sunrise from the balcony, taking a morning dip in the private pool, and listening to the birds. While the property is older and could use some updates, it was clean and full of charm, which mattered more to us than a modern but characterless resort.

Beautiful Resort. Loved the setting, the view and the rooms. We had a King Deluxe room. The resort is concrete stacked bungalow design. Wonderful decor. Great covered porch, sitting area and huge bathroom. Nice pool area and cabanas on the beach. Attentive staff.

The staff was excellent and we enjoyed the quietness of the property. The pool and beach area we lovely and we never had to worry about finding lounge chairs. There are many stairs on the property so it isn't ideal for those with mobility issues, although they do have a shuttle from reception to the beach.
There are spots of the resort that is showing its age a bit but overall it was well maintained, clean and all the staff were exceptional.

They did give her one of the more accessible rooms and we made it work however if a person has difficulty with stairs this may not be a resort for them

Despite its 4+ stars and luxury description, the $500 Canadian we paid per night was ridiculous. The resort, the accommodation and service were far below luxury standards. The resort and rooms are run down and in disrepair in every way. Our room had a terrible smell, electrical issues, glasses not replaced, just rinsed and turned upside down, private pool wasn’t cleaned once over 7 days and one night a creature was running around inside the ceiling of our room. And this is a shortened list of issues.

Poor communication with staff and no follow up when issues were raised was frustrating. Service staff were inattentive when present. Many times there were no staff around at all. Note this is NOT a busy resort!

No towels available at pool almost ever. We had to hunt down staff and ask for them. They were stained and frayed edges when provided. Area around pool and furniture not cleaned daily. Beach chairs and towels never set up.

Very expensive drink and food prices and virtually nobody dining there. We had to walk to the restaurant to order room service. Room service dishes left outside room all day until 8:30pm despite multiple requests to remove. Sky Bar not operational ever and doesn’t look like it has been for some time. Main bar/lounge lacking in furniture and hardly operational.

We feel ripped off and mislead that it was a high quality resort because of Expedia’s rating and based on the price we paid.

Our suite was gorgeous with an amazing view. Staff was great and very attentive. I was sold by the amazing balcony and hammock. But just when I was thinking I could spend a night out in the hammock, I saw a huge tarantula in the ceiling of the balcony. Probably harmless but wouldn't want to see it on me.

Keep in mind: Going down to the beach is about a 5 minute walk but God forbid you forget something in your room, the walk up all those stairs is insane. They really should've thought of an elevator.
Also, property is not near any stores or town close enough to walk. Property has its own restaurant but food and snacks are pretty pricey.

Overall, it's a perfect location to stay if you just want to relax.

Room was very clean and beautiful views from the room, but the property needs some updating on the outside & grounds beneath our suite. We experienced an issue with the AC and hot water one day as well as internet was inconsistent but I think that's just Mexico. The pool is very far away from the room and if you can't do stairs this is not the place for you. It only had one restaurant so we found ourselves going into La Cruecita frequently. It was nice and quiet which was nice. Staff was friendly but service was slow to get towels at the pool and to get seated at dinner. Obviously it was an amazing hotel at one point and if they do some outside updating it would be awesome.

The property and rooms are excellent, the food is good but a bit overpriced. If you stay in the upper area, it takes a lot of climbing the stairs to go to the beach. Overall, if you want to relax and enjoy the pool and the beach, this is the hotel to be in. The only negative thing is that you cannot walk to the little town of Santa Cruz, the hotel is too far and it takes over an hour, you have to take a taxi to get there, there is nothing much outside the property.

The location is absolutely gorgeous with beautiful scenery and view of the ocean. I feel that there should be a little bit more care taken with cleaning the outside walkways and steps, etc. I would also like to see railings in the pool area. It is not an easy place for a senior citizen for walking. The staff was very friendly and tried their best to look after me with my special diet needs.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The location, beach area, pool, and the excellent view of the bay. The staff was helpful and pleasant. Food was incosistent and overpriced. In terms of the facilities the wifi was nul in our room and in some of the public areas. Tv signal was intermitent and did not have any entertainment chanels in English besides news from CNN. The Hotel has seen its best glorious days and it is in serious need of repairs and renovations. Once upon at time you can imagine by the decor and design that this hotel was the place in town. Price wise the cost per night and food is not justifiable. However malgre some of the inconveniences wr really enjoyed the peace and the beauty of the surroundigs an our balcony. Now that we know what to expect we hope to visit again but with a different plan.

Proximity to the beach and the view from our suite was beautiful. We will definitely be back! We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of food in the restaurant. The traditional Oaxacan dishes were delicious and the lava cake was to die for. Quinta Real is like a boutique resort with very few people at the pool or beach ! The ocean was heavenly to swim in.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Quinta Real. The location, the rooms, ocean and pool are excellent. Very quiet and peaceful. The only negative would be that it definitely has reached the age where it needs some major refurbishment. Mostly the exterior areas. There is a lot of cracking in the sidewalks, rotting of planks and posts along the walk ways. For that reason the resort is a little overpriced. The restaurant was excellent but again overpriced. With the numerous restaurant options in Huatulco that have excellent food at half the price it is hard to justify eating at the hotel anymore than we did. We did have a very peaceful 8 nights on excellent beds and surrounded by beauty.

We were supposed to arrive on Tuesday Sep 24, but Hurricane John hit Oaxaca. Our flight was cancelled and we couldn't make it. We were not able to go to Huatuclo.

The day before (Monday Sep 23) we called the Hotel Quinta Real, but they said we had to cancel via Expedia. We tried via Expedia several times, but they could not reach the hotel.

While I understand the hotel cancellation policy, it was completely out of our control to not be able to go.

We are very disappointed that a refund was not issued. Even more because we have been before to this hotel and it is VERY nice. We used to recommend it, but will think about that in the future.

First of all the grounds are gorgeous, our room was ready, incredibly clean and the view was magical. The staff was warm and welcoming. On the second night there was a backup in our bathroom , roots were clogging the pipes.we were told we had to change rooms and it was rather late. I was really rather upset after unpacking and getting comfortable we were ready to rest for the evening. I really just wanted to enjoy my trip. The manager Claudia was very understanding and warm. She upgraded our room to the Presidental suite, which by the way is out of this world beautiful. The room wasn’t quite ready so she apologized and offered a complementary breakfast because of the hassle of not only changing rooms but having to wait for them to fix the air conditioner and clean the room. Again they kindly stepped up and we were offered a complimentary massage , which by the way was an amazing one. It isn’t just the fact that they made up for the inconvenience in the best of ways, but that Claudia did it with such sincere kindness. The main director came by at breakfast the next day and gave me a really pretty hand carved heart and apologized. Such a sweet gesture. It’s hard to find that kind of heart felt treatment nowdays and I will never forget them or the most beautiful room we have ever stayed in. Claudia went far beyond her call of duty and we will never forget her or the incredible experience of all the workers at this one of a kind hotel. Pool and beaches wow!!

This place was amazing! It is not however ADA friendly. So many stairs! We would get over 10,000 steps in just a few hours from going up and down to the pool/beach. They do have transportation available so I wouldn’t let this discourage you from staying. We stayed with our young kids (ages 6 and 7) and they also loved it! We liked that it was quiet and family friendly. Not a party scene like some of the other hotels down the beach.

Quinta Real is a beautiful property!
Our room was quite aways from the pool and beach area so we walked a lot. We did not mind this at all! But, it is something to think about if you decide to stay at this property.
We had lunch twice by the pool, amazing food! Loved the tostadas!!!
The beach area is beautiful as well!
Rooms are a bit dated, but large as we got a room with a private pool. Beds are small if you get the two doubles. They are doubles - not Queens.
Overall, great stay!
The staff are phenomenal!

The hotel is great! Location above the bay provides great views. Place is quiet and with few rooms it is not crowded.
Staff is the best you can find anywhere , super attentive and friendly all of them !
You have to take some stairs to go anywhere in the property due to its layout , but it is not bad as long as you don’t have any sort of disability.
Wife and I went down to beach and back up taking the stairs through the lush gardens daily more than once without problems and we are in our 50’s. Food is delicious and price reasonably , definitely a great place is you are looking for peace and relaxation

Our stay at Quinta Real was great from beginning to end. The attention to detail by the staff is amazing. Check in with Lissette was smooth and quick. Upon arrival we were greeted by Juan (who's awesome) and given cool eucalyptus infused towels and ice cream. From there the view from the top of the hotel is BEAUTIFUL. There are mosquitoes so I do recommend applying/ bringing bug spray. You can also purchase natural repellent at the local grocery store (Chedraui). We stayed in the king suite that had a hammock and personal pool. The room had a great view and was very spacious. The toiletries offered were toothbrush, toothpaste, a few q-tips, sewing kit, and all of your other normal items offered by a hotel. There is a fan in the sitting area and the a/c works well. My first issue out of 2 was with our a/c, it was leaking water when on. The second, was the water pressure not being the greatest. It's not a deal breaker but definitely noticeable. The food was delicious and I do recommend it however it is on the more expensive side versus going to a local restaurant. Nonetheless, if it's within your budget go for it. We were served by Onofre, Gerardo, Rafael, Miguel, and Gabriel. They were all outstanding and did a great job. During our stay the property itself was quiet and we did not have any issues with loud neighbors. Our cleaning lady did a great job (unfortunately we did not get her name). Upon our departure Jairo took great care of us. He went above and beyond.

Upon arrival the concierge and staff was excellent once it came time to check into room upon entering the AC was not working and the room smelled of mold. We complained about this issue several times we could not get an eta of when this serious issue would be fixed. My wife and I could not even get settled into room because it was inhibitable at this temperature ( It was hotter in the room than it was outdoors). To their credit this issue was resolved later in the day but to great inconvenience to us. As we were getting ready to settle in my wife discovered a small scorpion crawling on the wall of our concrete head board, in the morning we had the pleasure of meeting its mother under our suit case (Huge Scorpion) this place is crawling with them BEWARE!!!. Pool Staff; BARTENDER ATTN. ⚠️VERY RUDE⚠️ We found ourselves being ignored several times on different occasions not sure but certain that it had something to do with our darker complexion as we observed the lighter skin folks being attended to promptly without hesitation. It was as if our business was not important to them! Not to mention the food was mediocre and over priced! WAY OVER PRICED!!!! We really wanted to come back for our anniversary in December due to the spectacular ocean views / private pool, unfortunately, this will be a one and done for us due to the negative outweighing the positive. We will be visiting and taking our business to Secrets Resort Huatulco.

Beautiful location, very impressive building with sweeping views. The staff are very welcoming friendly and accommodating. Our room was clean large and over 2 levels, the bottom level was the private pool which could do with some maibtainace many tiles just sitting in the bottom of the pool. However it was clean and refreshing every day. The air conditioning just doesn’t work. Had maintence come to fix but nothing. So the room was still comfortable but a/c didn’t poop reform. The shower head was a mess, water everywhere. It just needs changing. These smell things didn’t take away from our holiday. Although for the price they should be fixed.

Very nice property, but very poorly mantained. It needs more personnel to be able to offer prompt services.

You should have your own gym.

It would be nice to have an exclusive hotel area on the beach with special facilities, similar to the pool area.

The air conditioning works, but does not respond to the control. In the morning you wake up with sweat, since the air conditioning does not cool well in the morning. May be the hotel turns it down.

The rooms are very nice and spacious.

The swiming pool needs comlete renovation and good mainteinance, also on the slopes bellow it. It is not nice to look out of the pool and find all sort of garbage right bellow.

The central pool area is very nice.

We had also a very good dinner at the hotel.

Nice place, however the pricing on food is extremely high for what you get. Menu is simple and not as good compare to others places from the same name that i have stayed before. This place is overpriced for that they offer. On service, food and the facility itself

Es un hotel muy bonito, el diseño rústico pero elegante. La organización de la habitación muy agradable, la alberca privada muy limpia.
El servicio de limpieza y la atención por las señoras encargadas de éste, fue excelente. La atención en restaurantes es buena aunque próximos al cierre la actitud de los empleados no es la mejor, muy puntuales al horario de cierre, sobre todo en club de playa, sin actitud para preparar una bebida estando aún ahí si ya se pasaron algunos minutos.El servicio del bar es excelente.
El check in fue tardado, nos hicieron esperar casi una hora para entregar habitación, esperamos sin problema comprendiendo la situación, pero al hacer check out solicitamos autorización para realizarlo una hora más tarde y fue negado a pesar de viajar con un bebé.

A bad start when the airport transfer booked through the hotel failed to show leaving us to make our own arrangements. On arrival the front desk staff had no clue when our room might be ready and no idea what we could do in the meantime. In the end we had lunch while we waited. Returning here after 18 years we conclude little or no maintenance has been done in the intervening years. Food was disappointing and while the rest of the hotel world has moved on QR has not. The beach service was almost non-existent and while others have non-motorised water sports as standard, not QR, sadly. They hosted a large local wedding on Saturday and failed to make arrangements to accommodate staying guests while public areas were occupied by the wedding group. We even had to ask for the room to be serviced one day despite it having been routine previous days. We loved the hotel the first time and staff then could not have been more accommodating.

This is a luxurious complex on an absolutely stunning hilltop site with a spectacular 180 degree view of Tangolunda Bay. You get that view from the rooms, from the dining areas and from the pool (which is also very beautiful). Its modest size makes it uncrowded, quiet and very peaceful. The rooms are lovely. The restaurant is good, not great. The hotel is quite isolated so plan to spend your time there lounging and walking on the beach.

Shocked!

Service definitely needs improvement. We waited for over 40 minutes one afternoon for a ride from the beach club to the top of the hill where our room was. The manager saw us waiting and gave us a ride up in her private car! Van never came after we were told it was on its way down 3 times we ate at the restaurant 6 out of 7 days and had 2 hot meals! The others were barely warm. We were never offered a desert menu. At the beach restaurant the staff brought us drinks with no napkins or table settings. We asked about ordering something at 11:45 am and were told the restaurant wasn’t open until noon. This happened while 3 waiters were chatting by a serving table. Very surprised at the response. Safety concerns in our room included a bedside lamp the had the bulb taped with electrical tape around the wires hanging out of the socket and no cover plate on the electrical outlet. Very concerning! Lots of steps and no elevators. This may be important for guests with mobility issues.

Outdated, minimal facilities but the worse was the service. One bar tender for pool and one for the beach area. They were hard to find so we got our own towels and benches. Front desk never answers phone so if you are stranded in town and can’t find a cab you are on your own. Food was ok. Not what I’ve experienced at other Quinta Reals. Will not go back to this hotel.
