We confirmed a room with two twin beds but were first given a room with one double bed, and it was directly across from a noisy elevator. We went back down to reception and specifically requested a room with two twin beds, away from the elevator. We were given a room with twin beds, but made up as a king bed, and of course the room was again directly across from an elevator. Annoying.

Perfect location by the harbour, plenty of shops/restaurants and near to Byparken for airport transfers.

Our room on the 7th floor was quite small and had low/angled ceilings so made it hard to walk around. Building work at the back of the hotel also woke us up early everyday.

Breakfast was nice but not much choice compared to other Scandic hotels I’ve stayed in. Would stay again though.

Unbeatable location for a short stay. Our family room had a view of the harbour, Bryggen & Fløyen. And we could easily walk to all. Great transport links nearby, too. The breakfast was great. We could fill up to keep us going all day. The staff was warm and welcoming. We even availed of the cozy, if somewhat small, bar/laounge in the evenings with its open fire. Not the first Scandic I've stayed in and not the last.

Easy checkin, large clean rooms with views over harbour, excellent breakfast with lots of variety. We used Porterservice to send our luggage back to Oslo, and staff were helpful in taking & keeping the luggage safe, until it was picked up early next morning. Excellent location for walking around, close to shopping.

Our room was spacious, comfortable and with a view over the harbour and city, especially magical in the evening. Staff were very helpful at all times. Breakfast was superb with a range of delicious, healthy choices. The location is superb, directly opposite the Tourist Visitor centre and easy walking to many places of interest. Loved it!

Great location and breakfast.
Our room was on 6th floor at the rear of the hotel overlooking a loud vent which meant opening the window at night impossible due to the noise. Loud bottle drops into a bin also didn’t help.
We were not able to reduce the temperature of the thermostat below 22.5 degrees which made for a stuffiness in the room.

The hotel is right in the middle of the city centre so you are very close to everything, yet not noisy at all. The staff were very friendly, efficient and we checked in and out with no issues. The room was basic but we picked the harbour view which was beautiful and the bed was so comfy. The curtains were also amazing, blocking out the morning light if you are after a lie in.

The hotel staff was excellent any time we had a question or request. The hotel is located right across the tourist information center and really central to all the shops by the pier. The area does get busy when there are cruise ships in port but we used those days to go explore elsewhere. The daily breakfast has a good selection of food to choose from and if you are departing early will provide you a box to take it with you.

Fabulous breakfast bar! The location was ideal for tourists. My only complaint would be the tiny bathrooms and shower. The corner shower didn't seal properly so water would go everywhere. I'm American so I may be just used to bigger rooms and showers though. Overall though, I would come back. Actually this was already my 2nd stay there.

Room a bit small but they all are in Scandinavia. But very clean and well organized. We only spent one night so just needed a place to crash; bed and sofa bed for 4 nicely made. The highlight is really the breakfast buffet. I have to say it is the best of all breakfast buffets I’ve had, including at American hotel executive lounges.

The room has 'only bed', nothing else. There's NO water bottle, cup, coffee/tea, electric kettle...literally nothing in the room (285 US dollar per night). You need to go down to lobby to take a cup of water or coffee.
If you plan only 1 night, sleep and go early next day, it may be not a problem, but uncomfortable and unpleasant for 3 nights. I requested electric kettle to take hot water at room (I bought water for myself). First night, no response. 2nd night, apologized all kettles ran out, 3rd night, they brought one finally.

I would not stay here ever again. No room for luggage, no luggage rack or table. Bathroom very small with NO ROOM FOR TOILETRIES, dining limited, NOISE ALL NIGHT INTO THE MORNING WITH YELLING AND SINGING, room too warm, elevator very slow. Staff would not accommodate to upgrade.
Positive note, close to harbor and a Starbucks.
I would not recommend.

The area is extremely convenient to fish market, and to most of the surrounding tourist areas. Good location but the hotel was packed, breakfasts were chaotic, rooms were very small. I would give a shout out to the hotel that they gave us our room as soon as we arrived in the morning. Fantastic!

Hotel in itself was fine...the only thing was that in asking directions to the cruise terminal, having given the correct address , I was given directions in the complete opposite direction, thus cause a great deal of energy wasted and enhanced anxiety, which at both my age and that of my companion...both energetic ladies of 83....hence this put both our noses out of joint.

The location of the hotel is excellent. We walked to every thing we wanted to do. We even walked from the train station with luggage without a problem. The only downside of the hotel was that there was no AC. The temp outside was only around 70 Fahrenheit but our room was hot. They gave a small fan but that didn’t cut the heat enough to make it comfortable

The location is amazing and makes this hotel the spot you should highly consider! The bathroom is itty bitty but all the bathrooms but they utilized it well. They did not have AC similar to all the shops and other hotels. So the temperature could be an issue if you are unlucky and it’s a rare 80 degree day. The breakfast buffet was amazing. Food was way better than I would expect.

The Scandic Torget was in a great location. The interior could do with some refurbishment. Our room was very small but the windows didn’t all open and they were in poor condition. The choice at breakfast was excellent but sometimes it was hard to get a table, and there were long queues for the tea and coffee machine - only one had ‘fancy’ coffees.

Great hotel, but no AC

Stayed at the Scandic Torget two times on a recent trip. Have stayed at the Torget several times in the past in non-summer months, and didn't realize that the hotel has no AC. On both stays, the weather was quite warm and our hotel rooms were even warmer - and no way to get a breeze through the room. The hotel staff was sympathetic, but they didn't have enough fans to lend. So, we endured a total of 3 very warm nights.

Everything else about the hotel is lovely - good breakfast, helpful and informative staff, perfect location in the heart of Bergen, and great rooms for non-summer stays.

I will definitely stay at the Scandic Torget when we visit Bergen again in December, but I'll find another hotel for summer visits.

Great breakfast and the overall room was great. However, the entire building was hot and our room in particular seemed to be overly hot as well. The thermostat didn’t even work. Granted, there was a hot spell of 29 in Bergen during our stay, but a working fan or a working thermostat would have been appreacited.

When we booked, we chose a room based on what the actual site for the hotel shared for a 3 sleeper. It is an older historic building that has been renovated, so we did expect some variations of rooms. The first room we received had a great water view but the ceiling had low ceiling slants that were impossible for my tall husband to move through without hitting his head. The second room offered was extremely small where we couldn’t move between beds without hitting someone’s feet and one person could not see the TV at all. The third room was bigger but had only under the bed storage for bags with the clothes (no closets at all). Plus, no phones in the room at all to call the front desk. The staff was super helpful to find a room that would work but if that wasn’t available, it would have been a tough 10 day stay. I would confirm the room and ask for one with a desk if you want space to move around. The brunch is extra but was wonderful and worth the money. Again, staff was AMAZING and very helpful! Just be aware of room space variations and lack of storage for clothes. Great location and very safe and clean.

Worse place to stay in Bergen

Scandic Torget Bergen was a complete disaster. This hotel is not suitable for humans, let alone paying guests. The room was cramped and stifling, with no air conditioning, no fan, and no ventilation. To top it off, our only window opened directly onto a disgusting trash area, making it impossible to air out the room without bringing in the smell of garbage.

There were no basic amenities — no toothbrushes, no lotion, nothing but a few sad wall-mounted soaps. It’s shocking how unprepared this hotel is for travelers.

Even worse, housekeeping doesn’t clean your room unless you sign up the night before — by 11 PM! No one told us this at check-in, so we came back after a long day to an untouched room. How is that acceptable at a hotel charging these rates?

The whole place feels cheap and indifferent to the guest experience. Uncomfortable, unaccommodating, and completely lacking in hospitality. One of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. Do yourself a favor — stay anywhere else.

Down in the Dumps at Scandic

Had four night stay. After check in we left hotel for dinner. Came back to find the door to our room unlocked. From that point on we needed help to get door locked. Also hotel has no air conditioning and we hit a very hot spell in Bergen which made sleeping difficult as room was quite warm. I could go on and on with the problems but why bother as we will never stay at the hotel
again. Further, we will never stay at any Scandic branded hotel.

The location on this hotel is fantastic!!! In my opinion best you could have, you are in the center to choices to go left and right anyway you want awesome location, and delicious breakfast. Day trips starts only step away from the hotel and across the street is a traveling information, that they can book you trips, thickets and they are very informative. Enjoy visiting Bergen, it is a beautiful, beautiful city!

Brilliant location on the quay near Fish Market with views over the harbour to Bryggen. Easy walks to the centre and Fløybanen funicular. Ferries to the fjords depart just outside the hotel.

Convenient access to/from the airport - Flybuss stop nearby and short walk to the light rail.

Staff, rooms and breakfast were all fantastic.

Would recommend for a short break or base to visit the fjords.

This is a minimalist hotel with very spartan amenities. If you’re expecting an experience similar to the US, you will not find it here.

The rooms are small. There is one small chair in our room. There was no traditional closet. There was no folding valet upon which to set your luggage. The bed was soft like a marshmallow and gave me backaches every morning. The “folding” shower was so small that I couldn’t wash any body part below my thighs (I am 6’3” tall) because my head would hit one of folding shower panels and it would pop open.

The staff was great and the breakfast buffet was awesome. The location is also great for many attractions in Bergen.
