A variety of healthy breakfast and nice mountain view. Linen and towels should be provided. It did not mention in the ads. They just inform me thru email. The hostel is far from the city center. Not walkable.

Hostel is ok. Could have curtains around the beds for added privacy and to keep light out when people come in at night and turn on lights. Paying extra for sheets is a new angle … should assume you need sheets and discount price if you don’t. Not close to city centre and No good food options in the area … just a limited option grocery store nearby. Otherwise good kitchen, clean and good breakfast which many hostels don’t offer. It was ok for the price.

My room was downstairs, Dark and with no view. The daily cleaning was ok, but there were old dirt around handles, panels and walls, so it felt dirty. The mattress was very hard.
The receptionist s was not kind and showed very little interest in my questions, but the diningroom staf were kind.
The mountains was beautiful, but I guess you can not take advantage of that.
I changed my stay to two days at arrival, unfortunately, and I still don’t understand why the second day was way more expensive than the first?

It’s a hostel

Well it’s a hostel, so don’t expect much in terms of the room. It’s got a bed, a shower, and a toilet- you need to buy towels and bed sheets separately. I’ve been to many hostels and the really good ones, as this claims to be have more privacy for each bunks with even just a thin sheet of wood on the front of the bed so you have your own privacy and can feel more comfortable- deffo does not deserve “best” hostel but it’s decent.

I did like the sense of community and connection I could get and o was able to talk to people ( I’m usually very shy)

Great location and was nice to get to hiking trails from the hostel. Easy access to bus stop. Loved the breakfast buffet and made good use of the community kitchen. Welcoming atmosphere and will stay there again when I return to Bergen!

I loved my stay in Montana and I can see why it was voted as Norway’s best hostel. The highlight for me was the activities organised by the great team of volunteers. I was lucky to be there on a Sunday so joined the hike to Baunehytten - beautiful scenery, lake swimming and coffee and waffles.

In terms of practicalities, the hostel is a 20 min bus trip from the bus station (which is very close to the train station). Take bus 12 and you can buy a ticket (49) on board. It is worth buying the 24 hr bus pass if you are likely to do 3 trips in a 24 hr period.

The hostel is very clean and extremely it well equipped. The kitchen has everything you would need and there’s a supermarket just along the road - it is closed on Sundays like others in Norway.

The breakfast was generous and varied. There is a great sunset viewing area and I recommend going to the 5.30pm coffee/tea and biscuits with the volunteers.

Exceptionally clean room and comfortable beds. Very sufficient and nutritious breakfast. Worth noting that it is a bit far from the city center and on Sundays the bus runs only every 30min, but the breakfast makes up for this along with the proximity to mountain walking trails up the mountain. The hostel seems to double for student accommodation, so this can lead to noisy behaviour from students.

I really liked my stay at the hostel. The staff were kind and helped whenever needed. It was great that there were always activities planned for the next day, by volunteers and that everyone took an initiative to attend them! I would highly recommend this hostel to someone travelling to Norway for the first time atleast; it would be a lovely place to make friends and you’ll also be able to experience and explore new things everyday!

Great upscale hostel experience

The hostel is a bit far from the city, but on a hill so one gets good views of the city from the hostel.
The hostel was quite lively, and we loved the common play area with the foosball table and various board games.
The breakfast spread was amazing and the best we had in our entire Norway trip. The staff was super friendly and helpful.
It is great that they provide free parking card.
The washrooms were clean and did not feel like common washrooms at all.
The common kitchen was super busy but we were able to manage cooking our meals. This was the first time we stayed in a hostel, and I would surely recommend this to anyone who wants to have a great hostel experience.

Nice, but tight

As far as hostels go, the room was not too bad. A bit like living in a dorm. The shower space was small and the curtain likes to blow inward to stick to your legs while showering, which is slightly disgusting. There were no hand towels for the bathroom (not that there would have been anywhere to hang them) and no shelves for toiletries. But, it was quiet and having a space to store refrigerated food in the kitchen was nice. Free parking, too.

This was the best hostel I’ve ever stayed in and my roommates all said the same. The staff were all international volunteers and they worked extensively to keep the place exceptionally clean. The breakfast buffet resembled that of a luxury hotel more so than a cheap hostel. It was located at the base of Ulriken which meant it was literally a few steps away from numerous great hiking trails. This meant that it was a ways away from downtown but the bus came every twenty minutes so that was no problem. The view overlooking the city was spectacular and there were always people around to talk to. My only regret is not staying in Bergen longer!

Great Hostel!

I stayed only for one night. It was easy to get there from the city center (bus 12) and hostel was great. I had to paid for bed sheets, but price was okay ($7usd). Room was cleaned, bathroom was good, and breakfast was 10/10. I will definitely recommend it.

Nice place in Bergen. Lovely community vibe here. Staff are very helpful and has everything you might need. It’s a bit of a walk into central Bergen, but there is an easy bus you can get. Also very close to Ulriken cable car for a fantastic view.

We didn’t find the reception staff at all friendly, helpful or welcoming.

We spent a night here and wish we’d had more time. Bergen was a nice place to visit. We did some cooking and found a convivial atmosphere in the facility. The included breakfast was an extremely good and varied selection. Bunk beds aren’t necessarily the best at our age, but slept well enough once we got in. The location is a bit out of the way, but we got there. The value received for the price was excellent.

I only stayed one night so I don’t have much to comment on. The staff were friendly and very helpful, though. The vibes here were also very chill and relaxing, with board games, table soccer games and also organised hikes!! The room was clean. The location was pretty far out and difficult to get to, but I kinda appreciate that the bus ride up had a nice view! The bus stops very close to the hostel and there is also a supermarket close by! Kitchen amenities are amazing

There are bedbugs in the room!

There are lots of bedbugs in the room. We can't sleep. We were driving all the day before get there so we were tired and need sleep, but we can't. We had been bit all the night. Red spots everywhere on our body even on face. We catched more than 10 big bedbugs that night.

2 community kitchens made it very convenient to prepare supper. The included breakfast was hearty with lots of variety. It was good to have laundry facilities as well.
