Ok so the place is a little run down but the room I had was large . I even had a bath tub . The bed was clean and comfy . The included breakfast was really good ( very good ) so overall it’s good value for money .
In a great spot too so you can walk to most things and I walked from the train station .
As long as you not a neat freak it’s good value

I loved staying here, although I moved to another hotel after staying here for three days. I wish I could stay here until the end of my trip.

Excellent breakfast--$20 was so worth it to explore different food options, including a variety of breads, fruits, protein, fish, and soup.
The room was spacious and clean. The bed and blackets were so comfortable that I couldn't get up quickly after I woke up. I stayed with my friend, and we both had large luggage, but the room still accommodated us.
The staff service was great, and the hotel has many pleasant spaces on the lobby floor where you can sit, sip coffee, chat with friends, or even work.

Good location, friendly staff. Good breakfast but unfortunately no restaurants open in the hotel for lunch. Layout of the bathroom in the room was bad with no shower curtain or divider so water went everywhere — it wasn’t terrible but rather inconvenient. Our friends’ room next door had a shower enclosure but ours didn’t. When I mentioned it at the front desk they said to have extra towels at the ready. Also, the mattress had a foam cover and for people like me that means sweating all night and sleeping in an uncomfortable puddle.

Outdated room, no charge points, no visible power points (crawl under bed), inattentive none engaged staff. Our room was next to an external street light and the block out curtains did not cover the span of the windows. Worst of all during our stay the hotel booked a school group and they were running around the hallways until midnight. Because it’s an old building you could hear every noise.

This hotel was fine, nothing stands out too much either way. The line to check in was lengthy and it took quite awhile to have them call for help. Also, they did not tell people that they needed to scan their room keys to use the elevator and many people were confused why it would not work. There was a small sign in the elevator but many guests were not Norwegian or did not speak English well and did not understand the sign. I, myself, had to explain to 4 guests how to get to their floors.

Great location, comfortable room and great breakfast! We were 8 to 12 minutes walk from the Fish Market, the Bryggen, the funicular, the Ferry Terminal and the airport tram. It was fun to be able to spot our mustard colored hotel from the top of the funicular. Breakfast was wonderful, with eggs, fresh fruit salad, green salad and veggies, a variety of breads as well as cheeses and meats and more. Our room was simple and clean. Would definitely stay again.

Why do you run a hotel like this?

I’m sorry but a lot of things need to change at this hotel. To begin with, I tried to call them more than 5 times before my arrival. Nobody picked up the phone. At my checkin, I mentioned that and they were very happy to tell me that they were busy. Wow! The room was not clean. I found one bitten cookie. They didn’t make room and the reception didn’t mention to us. Just one small paper in the room about it. Basically my feeling was terrible.

Beautiful Bergen shame about the hotel

Checked in to room but opened door to discover it had not been cleaned after previous guests left. Moved to another room which was not satisfactory so eventually back in original room. No AC. Reasonably comfortable but lots of traffic noise. Breakfast ok. Nothing special other than location. Very tired hotel. Staff were all nice and handled room problems well. Wouldn’t come back and disappointed after staying at other Scandic hotels which were much better.

The hotel is conveniently located. The rooms are pretty spacious. However, there is absolutely no air conditioning and the rooms are extremely hot. Check in was slow and the front desk personnel was a bit testy. The gym had no water cooler, no towels and no air conditioning. Breakfast was rather good.

The Scandic Neptun has been really good for our brief stay in Bergen. It’s quite close to the harbour and about a 15 min. walk to the train or bus station.

The staff have been very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent.

Our only draw back was the temperature in the room. It was 25 degrees, no matter what we changed the thermostat to, so the first night was a bit warm to sleep well. There was one small fan available in the room, so we got a second fan from the front desk, for the other side of the bed. Problem solved.

Would recommend staying here.

Rooms were very warm and we were unable to change the thermostat. Asked for extra pillows which were never delivered. Lobby clean and bright but the hallways smelled

This is a great hotel from the moment you arrive. The staff are all friendly and very helpful with any questions you might have. Our room had a separate sitting room with a couch and chairs. There was a TV in both rooms. But the highlight has to be the breakfast buffet. Everything you can imagine, from 4 kinds of eggs, bacon, sausages, oatmeal, cereals, cheeses, an assortment of fresh bread, lox ... And much more. I have never seen a breakfast buffet like this in any hotel.

Easy to find as it’s a 10min walk from the tram straight from the airport. Welcoming staff. We had a recently upgraded room but the temperature control is non-existent. We were there during the festival so it was wedged but the restaurant more or less managed.
It would be good if Scandic rated the quality of each hotel as we’d come from the Holberg in Oslo and it was not in the same league.
Many of the less than positive reviews are worth reading.

Negatives:
1. We were allocated a Double \"Accessible\" room despite having requested for a Superior Twin room (pre-booked and reiterated on arrival).
2. Check-in at 16:00 - later than the standard 15:00 so had to wait in a queue.
3. Unable to connect to Wifi until a second Front Desk staff member provided alternative password. The first staff had no idea!
4. Our Superior Room had no air-conditioning and as it was hot, thankfully, a fan was made available. It didn't help as there was also NO Fridge nor a guest Ice-making machine.
5. Bathroom - no bath mat provided, nor were there any hooks to hang towels or clothes.
6. Tea/coffee - no spoon provided to stir beverage.
7. On our last day, as we were leaving at 07:30 and their breakfast restaurant only opened at 07:30, we had to pick up a 'Breakfast to Go' (no offer of delivery to room!). The provisions were adequate for a light snack (fruit, 2 slices of bread, slice of ham & cheese, mayo, small tube of fish paste & butter but NO utensils provided). How were we expected to butter our bread? When we went down to Reception to ask for a knife, the staff on duty couldn't provide one. Obviously, a huge shortage of utensils!

The room was a nice size. Our room faced the street and it was noisy all night long. The location was good in the city, we could get anywhere easily. Highly recommend- bring earplugs if traffic bothers your sleep.

Just ok- get what you pay for

Honestly I would not stay here again. The outlet situation isn't great (add some extension cords at least near the beds). The breakfast ran out of stuff and was not replenished. If you're going to offer a breakfast during a time frame, it should be offered the whole time. The location is fantastic, close to the action, the bus line and the train station. Lobby people were very polite and professional. Biggest let down was I booked this mid trip to do laundry and was told they do not have laundry.

We had a suite which was a good size, it had a separate seating/lounge area to bedroom so we were able to space out which was great. The bathroom was equally a good size and room amenities worked.

The hotel is in a great location, easy walking distance to most parts of the city including the port (Bergen isn't a huge city anyway). The breakfast was perfect for us as well, nice selection and good quality.

Only downside was our room was really hot, after I arrived I turned off the radiators and we had the doors open when we were there to cool it down. Also the balcony lights remained on overnight with no ability to switch off, curtains didn't completely keep all the light out.

Overall, great, clean, hotel to stay in at the heart of Bergen with friendly, helpful staff.

Scandic Neptun is perfectly located—an easy walk to the harbor, Bryggen, and lots of great food and beer spots. The breakfast was excellent with a big variety and fresh options.

Our room faced the inner courtyard, so no view—just other rooms across—but it was quiet and comfortable. Overall, a solid base for exploring Bergen!

Really disappointing room. No coffee maker in room or kettle. No phone in room as was told that hotel is phasing phones out because ‘everyone’ has a cell phone. A foreign visitor with no local connection has no way to make emergency or housekeeping calls. Floors appeared uncleaned for a longtime as they got stuck with our shoes. Bathroom had no basic supply like lotions, shower cap & floor mat.

The check in experience was not nice at all.
The receptionist was borderline unfriendly and definitely seemed like she didn't care to make us feel welcome or have a nice experience.
When we got to our room (which actually looked very nice), we discovered that it didn't have hot water. Lukewarm at best. We went back to reception, who swapped us to another room on the same floor. We went there and it was the same. Then we were swapped to a 3rd room on another floor, which had hot water. During the whole time the receptionist cooperated but wasn't nice at all.

The room we ended up in was much smaller and was less equipped than the first room we went into. Additionally, the bathroom had a funky smell that never went away, even after we stayed there 3 nights and the powered vent worked for a long time. The room also missed the tea/coffee making set (kettle, cups, teaspoons, coffee & tea) and it took more than one request to receive all of that - again, giving us the feeling we were a burden. In general it felt like this room wasn't properly prepared for guests and was handed out as an emergency response with no follow up.

On the positive side, the buffet breakfast (was included in our deal) was very good.

Excellent location, quiet rooms. There is a bar and restaurant on site, however neither were open on the Wednesday night that we stayed. Lots of disappointed, weary travelers! None of the staff members could explain why they were closed. The breakfast spread is very good, but didn't open until 7am. Too late when trying to get to the airport! If available, I would recommend staying at Scandic Byparken. Much better atmosphere, great staff and great location!

Our room 8005 had a nice view and 2 easy chairs to relax in, and also a fridge, iron and ironing board, tea and coffee making facilities, all of which were not available in our previous hotel or usually found in tourist hotels.
In general very impressed with everything about the hotel.
It would have been nice to have the BBC world news TV channel, if possible.

Great hotel in Bergen

Lovely hotel near the harbour in Bergen. We arrived quite late in the evening and the friendly receptionist explained that due to the hotel being quite full we were being upgraded to a suite, which was excellent. The suite was clean and comfortable with a fantastic large bathroom. It was very warm, the air conditioning didn’t seem to be doing anything. The balcony gave a great view over Bergen. Breakfast was good, though busy! Would stay again.

First, the pros: The staff were very helpful and gracious, particularly in the breakfast area. The room we were eventually placed in was clean and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast in the morning offers a wonderful selection of fresh fruits, vegetables, baked goods, pastries, eggs, and meats. Another positive is the location. It is very close to Bryggen, restaurants and shopping.

Now on to the negatives. The first room we were given had an absolutely awful smell coming from under the tub. It was so bad we could not stay and had to request a different room. Once in our second room we noted that the furniture is very old. And I don’t mean old style, rather 70’s laminate particle board furniture, complete with nicks, scratches, and dents. There was no air conditioning in any of the rooms and thanks to a beautiful stretch of weather (Thank you, Norway!) our room got too warm for our liking, with only one opening window and a small fan to cool it off. In order for the fan to run we would have had to leave the master lights on all night. The carpet throughout the hotel is older and stained in several places. Trash cans are lacking in the lobby area and outside the hotel, so consequentially there was garbage stashed in various places. Although the lobby is nicely updated, the rooms are run down and missing a lot of TLC. One final note is that both of the restaurants advertised in the hotel are permanently closed so there is no food service other than the breakfast buffet.

The location is perfect, in the city, the breakfasts and the restaurant staff were friendly, but at the reception there was no contact, the visual attention was not friendly, just like with simple questions about the city, and He did not like the hassle, they only respond quickly and They are going to do something else unimportant, The room on my second night was not completely clean, the bathroom and the cups and glasses were not changed or taken from the room, in 2 nights, I had to ask for clean glasses and cups.

The Hotel is undergoing renovations. My room was on a floor that was all but completely gutted. I was walking thru a building site to get to my room. I was warned when I checked in but not to the extent of the works.

Did not have basic amenities in the room that anyone will need, like phone to call the front desk, charging phone, etc. Very old building without upgrading the interior. Had old smell from I believe from floor and carpet.
Breakfast was very good.

Location is perfect, vety close to Bergen port. Bus hotel is rather old and need renovation. Room was spacy but without AC. Breakfast was also very good as always in Scandic hotels.

Nice hotel near Bergen center.

Great access to the center of Bergen at only a couple of blocks from the fish market.

Great Location

Great location, comfortable stay with very nice breakfast. Older hotel, but well kept. It was a bit noisy at night as cars and bikes came into the area, but nothing too serious.
