The hotel is in an excellent location in the heart of Bryggen. Rooms are clean and spacious although there is only a small wardrobe area and no drawers at all. Rooms are not serviced during your stay and towels changed on request. We were there for 4 nights and needed to dispose of our own rubbish. On the plus side the complimentary afternoon fika and evening meal is a very good bonus and compliments the excellent breakfast. Finally, the bar is not the best and not really what you would expect from a 4 star property. Staff service was mixed ranging from extremely friendly & helpful to bordering on rude.

Excellent hotel. Everything was spotless, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast had plenty of choices, the afternoon tea was a lovely bonus, and the dinner was excellent. I also enjoyed the steam room and the beautiful lobby.
The location is perfect, with a convenience store right downstairs, close to the bus station, an airport bus stop nearby, and Bryggen just steps away.

This property exceeded my expectation. The staff were warm, friendly, and very helpful. The morning breakfast was extensive, coma in the afternoon was a delight, and the evening meal was delicious. My room was spacious, well lit, clean, and the bed was extremely comfortable. The location was excellent, walking distance to shopping and many dining establishments as well as museums in Bergen. Highly recommend.

Great central location with breakfast and dinner buffet included. Beautiful old building with a lot of history. Bergen center being easy to get around and with their diverse weather which runs from heavy downpours to sunshine in June, it’s lovely to be able to drop back to the hotel to dry off and warm up with unlimited complimentary tea and coffee in the very comfortable lounge. And head back out. The staff were all super friendly and helpful. It’s definitely worth the splurge as I think it pays for itself with breakfast, coffee and cake in the afternoon and buffet dinner.

The room was basically good and the hotel is in a great location.

On our arrival we found two problems - first, the sliding door to the bathroom was off its rails and stuck open. We had to wait till the following day for it to be fixed. The whole door arrangement cheapened the look of what was otherwise a comfortable room.

The second problem was the shower faucet. It was a fairly standard that you had to switch the water from the bath faucet to shower head. Problem was that it didn’t work, without of the water going down the bath and limited water to the shower. It was not fixed during our stay.

A related problem was that the shower head screen didn’t seal against the bath, so there was always water on the floor after a shower. We didn’t report this problem.

Had a wonderful time during our stay at the hotel. The original hotel we had booked was shut down due to the strike, but we were very lucky to have stayed here instead. The rooms had amazing views of the port and were very spacious. The rooms were clean and well maintained, and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was also excellent, with wide selection of food and well decorated. Would stay here again if we visit Bergen again!

Everything about our experience was wonderful except the weather, which we were expecting. Had hoped for clear weather for our hike from Mount Ulriken to Floyen. Unfortunately cool, rain and clouds. We were there so hiked it anyway. A bit of a challenge but still fun. The hotel was warm and accommodating on our return.

The management did an excellent job keeping the service level high without having enough staff. The view, breakfast and sauna were great additions to our stay. This must be an amazing stay when fully staffed.

The entire staff was fabulous, and I must give an emphasis to the general manager and the manager of the hotel.
Unfortunately, there was a strike for most I believe of the workers in the hotel and the two ladies that were the manager and general manager helped in any way possible and made my wife and I feel right at home.

The staff was amazing, so helpful and friendly. As we were boarding a cruise they stored our luggage for a couple of hours after checking out. The historic hotel itself was beautiful and well appointed. A small bar in the lobby and a gas fireplace in a cozy corner was delightful at day’s end. Very comfortable bed and chairs in room and dimmable lighting. A great location for touring and cruise pier, highly recommend!

The breakfast was amazing, especially the coffee refills and the omelets.
The hotel facilities were very clean and the lobby was a comfortable place to sit and have a coffee, tea or drink depending on what we felt like.

When we booked the hotel there was a complimentary evening included. However due to there being a national strike in Norway in the hospitality and restaurant industry. This had been cancelled. The breakfast buffet was excellent. There was also a free traditional Fikar in the afternoon (coffee and cake). The staff were obviously working excessive hours due to the shortage of staff. I hope their hard work is duly rewarded by their management. I couldn't find fault with the hotel. Rosa the manager deserves the Order of St Olav for her commitment to the hotel and guests.

A very disappointing experience.

Whilst the staff were friendly, there is a strike in the hotel industry in Norway which we were not informed of prior to our arrival. Therefore, the hotel services are not as expected and over our seven nights a lot of additional expense was incurred. Breakfast was plentiful, Fika was basically left over breakfast pastries and coffee, and dinner is not provided despite being part of the booking and so far no compensation for this has been offered despite complaining to the hotel, and to the parent company Strawberry. We purchased food in additional to the hotel costs already paid which amounted to in excess of £500.00 over seven nights for two people.

Additionally with the strike, rooms are not refreshed and during our seven nights, no room bins were emptied (even though there were food stuffs in them), no coffees, toilet rolls etc were re-filled, floors not swept, and linen / towels were not refreshed once.

As other reviews have stated, rooms are small and there is very limited hanging space and no drawer space.

Unfortunately the hotel did not live up to expectations or the values stated on the Strawberry website. We have been very disappointed at the considerable additional expense incurred with no compensation for the services paid for and not provided.

An outstanding, comfortable hotel in the center of the Btyggen Harbour area with the most genuine friendly welcoming staff that I’ve experienced. Our kingbed room was larger than expected and nicely appointed. It’s incredibly quiet, even though the the hotel was completely booked. The only thing is in the room is a place for storage of any clothing besides a few hangers. breakfast was excellent with a very good selection you to choose from..
There was a strike on in the hospitality industry when we arrived. Most hotels had closed Boston Marathon was on and the Bergen was packed. With very reduced that Paul did an amazing job accommodating and keeping people comfortable as possible.. I wouldn’t consider another hotel in Bergen again and we’ll definitely be back.

A massive marathon in town and a service worker strike left the majority of Bergen hotel properties at disadvantage.The manager informed us for these reasons they could not provide the included dinner. She offered an alcoholic beverage and a soft drink from the mini bar as consolation..... there is a nice good size convenience style grocery store next door where they had enough supplies to make up a dinner as most restaurants were also closed.

Breakfast the following morning, (start of the marathon event), wad excellent and abover average in a wonderful comfortable well appointed dining space.... if you are boarding a cruise ship as we were it was very walkable about two blocks, but with the marathon it was Armageddon of people. No taxis were available just the particular date that caused the less than desirable stay.

The light dinner claimed to have main meals including vegetarian. However the vegetarian optom was only the salad bar and soup. The main meals provided on the 3 nught stay we had included chichen or fish. They could have easily been prepared as vegetarian meals where guests could have added meat if desired. Instead it entirely failed to cater for non meat eaters. By the 3rd evening, we’d had enough and ate elsewhere.

I loved everything about this hotel. They have a tower you can go up for a beautiful panoramic view of the city. They offer free buffet style breakfast, dinner and Fika in the afternoon. I felt very warmly welcomed by the handwritten note on the room table that said “Hi, have a nice time in Bergen ❤️.”

Staff was incredible! Food was ok, but not exceptional. Extremely good centralized location near warf and ship. Walking distance from fishmarket and shops. Close to museum. No distilled water for CPAP Machines. Room was very nice. Bed was comfortable. Staff arranged for us to take a short cab to the train station - for train to Oslo. That 6-7 hour trip should not be missed! We stayed one night as an extension to a Viking Cruise. Would definitely stay there again!

I had a fantastic stay at this hotel. The room was spacious, spotless, and very comfortable. The buffet was genuinely impressive, with plenty of variety, and I loved that both fika and a dinner buffet were included as standard!

The location is also incredibly convenient. There’s a bus stop right outside the hotel with direct service to Bergen Airport, and the hotel has a screen by the entrance showing the upcoming bus departure times.

The hotel also has a small gym and a compact sauna, perfect for unwinding after a long day. Overall, I had a wonderful experience and would definitely book to stay again.

The hotel has very pleasant & quiet public spaces. the views from the tower are not to be missed. Also, the Flybussen express bus to the airport starts its route just outside the front door of the hotel. A taxi could hardly be more convenient. We had a very early flight and had to take the 4:15AM bus - the first of the day. It was right on time. Even better, since we missed breakfast at the hotel, they packed a nice breakfast for us that we picked up when we checked out at 4:00AM.

This place was amazing! Whatever my nightly rate was, it wasn’t enough! Great big breakfast spread in the morning, Fika late afternoon, then a “light dinner”. Don’t be fooled, the light dinner was a nice spread of breads, salads, a soup, and a main course! Everything was very delicious. The room was well appointed with everything we could think of, and we had a great view looking out into the harbor and Bryggen. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the hotel and the front desk staff was incredibly awesome

Superb location, in Bryggen: exactly where you want to be in Bergen. The historic town is right around you and you can walk to the piers and the fish market.

The airport shuttle starts from right outside the hotel, so that is an added convenience.

Breakfast, afternoon tea, and dinner were included, which is unusual. Breakfast was a generous spread. Dinner was simple but adequate. The bar in the lobby is open until late. (Note: no food available after 8:00 pm.)

We expect to be back in Bergen soon, and don't need to shop for a hotel: we will definitely stay here again.

We are frequent travellers and my partner tells me that this is the best hotel she has ever stayed in. The food is excellent. Even the vegetarian dinner night. Breakfast are the best ever. Rooms are clean and very comfortable. The small fridge is a nice necessity. Location is excellent. Staff are efficient and friendly. The only suggestion is the lights in the room were a bit complicated and lacking in the bathroom. A tip to get the shower on is to pulll down on the tap spout. Make sure you have a drink in the lobby bar as it is amazing. Yes,we would stay here again.

Terrific location for all public transportation. The stop for the express bus to the airport was a few meters from the hotel’s entrance. The boats for the fjord tours also docked nearby. Historic Bergen is small and very walkable. The hotel was near everything including great restaurants
