Great characterful hotel conveniently located next to Rail station. Pristinely clean with quirky art throughout. Rooms are quite stark in terms of decor but comfy, warm and very clean. Beautiful bar/bistro and food good in ‘high end’ oak panelled room with stained glass and eye catching bar. Breakfast menu had great choice in buffet style. No tea and coffee making facility in rooms but help yourself option in lobby area. Gym is well equipped. Umbrellas to loan to cope with the Bergen showers were much appreciated. Would have preferred UK TV option. Thank you for hosting us!

We booked a room in the villa, and it looked nothing like the picture. Much smaller, huge pillar in the middle of the room occupying space, the beams were very low and my husband kept bumping his head, and only 4 tiny square windows that wouldn’t let you see outside with shades that wouldn’t retract properly. The room was super dark, no bathtub, and only dim lights. The bed was on the floor, comfortable but very short, not great for someone with mobility difficulties. On toiletries, for who’s concerned about it, the hand wash/body wash/shampoo were all the same “Body and Hair wash”.
Again, the real issue is that it’s nothing like the pictures…. If I had known it I wouldn’t have paid what I did for 1 night, or my expectations would be lower from the start.

The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom had heated floors (i think)
😍wow that was lovely!!
I requested if it was possible to stay in a room that had a bath tub (booked the right kind to be able to too) & had sent a message ahead of time requesting ~ said they would try their best to hold one for me (we did switch to the main bldg) but this was totally fine & i got to soak in a tub!! 🌟😭 i live somewhere w just a shower so truly that was such a treat! (thank you again!!)
The staff are friendly and kind and I appreciated their help when I asked about something

Parking at the garage was easy and the walk to the hotel was covered from the rain
(only time you’re outside on the way is when you need to cross the street)
Even still ~ was great to be able to park sheltered from the rain, they have a discounted rate for it too
Would definitely recommend staying here :D

We were in the annex. Room perfectly nice with good bathroom but bed very soft compared to what we're used to.The rooms at the back are very noisy by the road; inconsiderate guests returning late to their rooms being very loud didn't help.

Room was nice once we found ut. The directions were not great as we were booked into a villa room and we werent told that the key opened the villa and our bedroom door (unsure how safe this was). Breakfast was lovely and was surprised at how good the selection was.

Tremendous hotel. Stayed overnight, wish now had been a few days. Right by the station, good communications beforehand so I knew exactly the right light rail stop.
Never seen such a comprehensive buffet breakfast selection and all included in the price!
Don’t hesitate, book it.

We stayed here after Radisson cancelled our stay at short notice. So glad they did! The hotel is beautiful, with a lovely 'old world' feel. The breakfast has a brilliant selection (one of the best I've had) and was always fully stocked, even towards the end. Staff are really friendly and attentive. Drinks in the bar are nice although expensive, but expected in Norway. The rooms are small (especially the bathroom) but my parents & I found it perfectly adequate for us, although would appreciate 2 pillows rather than 1 :)

Amazing 97 year old hotel! Directly across from the train station and a very short walk to the fish market area and hiking areas. It is beautiful and elegant inside. The rooms are extremely large for the area! The views are wonderful! Great breakfast which is included. You won’t be disappointed!

Older building has been nicely preserved and retains its character. Room was small but clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great. Parking is in Parkade a couple blocks away.

Just okay all around

The hotel was in a convenient location, but unfortunately not worth the price. The walls were paper thin, so we were kept up all night by noise from a neighboring room. We also stayed at the hotel specifically because of the hotel bar, which was massively overrated.

We were only here one night, but it was a nice stay. The hotel is very nice and comfortable. They had a complimentary coffee bar set up which a very nice touch. We had an early train to catch the next morning, so the hotel provided us with breakfast bags since we would miss the included breakfast. The bags had plenty of food including yogurt, a sandwich , fruit and juice. The train station was just across the street from the hotel.

We booked four twin rooms and they were all very different in regards to size, outlook and comfort. Size was a big factor as we, as a couple, could not fit easily into the room with 2 people and two large cases. One of our party had a room where the windows would barely open and the room remained too warm, whereas ours opened freely and and we had a lovely cool breeze through open windows. The rooms were clean and well maintained. Reception staff were open to us changing rooms when available. But this is a busy hotel, so changes were not a given. The breakfast room was large and the quality of the food was high. We also had dinner in the restaurant twice. The first night the food and service was spot on - the second night one main dinner had to be sent back as the fish didn't taste quite 'right'. Three other meals were incomplete (none of the delicious potatoes that we had on night one) Simon the waiter handled the issue with calmness and efficiency and solved the issues immediately. The chef must have had a bad night that second visit? Overall we'd recommend the hotel for location, ambience, cleanliness and the staff- who were efficient and friendly.

Nice hotel and comfortable room, great location next to main railway station. The staff at reception checked me into the villa next door, this was quite quaint but meant I had to carry my 2 suitcases through the garden and up a narrow staircase to the second floor. Not very convenient for a single female traveler. The room was big, the bathroom tiny, in the shower you gad to watch not to hit the declining ceiling. Breakfast buffet was ok but felt a bit like a dining hall with tables in rows.

Location, location, location

Location mattered to me on this trip because I was carrying heavy bags so it made sense that once the train let us off at the Bergen station, the hotel was only a few steps away outside the street. It was a rainy day as well (and Bergen is known for rain) and therefore the ability for me and my friend to just walk across the street with our heavy bags was a great choice for us. The hotel is also within walking distance to the harbor where you can take your traditional fjord cruise. Second important thing: the breakfast buffet is great and there was no point in booking a hotel that didn't offer a breakfast buffet. Dining out in Bergen is expensive, you might as well factor in one important perk, the morning buffet. The room itself was a bit small for two people and the beds were barely cots, not the most comfortable I've ever stayed in, but having said that, we didn't spend much time inside the room. And the gym is a small but workable one as well. So location and buffet won out and did well for us in this case.

Avoid rooms 526-540 which are directly above a concert venue. The music was so loud the room literally shook and didn’t end until 12:45am on a Monday night. Staff wouldn’t shift our rooms and just gave us ear plugs. Everything else about hotel was great except the noise so if you avoid rooms 526-540, you’ll probably have a great experience.

Note to hotel: you should invest in better noise insulation in the floor or avoid booking those rooms when events are happening.

The room was spacious and the bathroom was very nicely done with decorative tile. Overall the hotel has a historic charm. For a hotel this size, would have been nice to have more spaces to lounge other than the dining rooms. We found one little area to hang out with friends and hotel staff was nice to bring extra chairs for us. They provided umbrellas for all of us which was a big plus as it rained quite a bit while we visited. Reception was very friendly. Parking in nearby garage was okay

Lovely old hotel with fantastic breakfast and friendly staff. Sadly no airconditioning and as our room was on the western side on a fairly warm day, (mid May) sleeping in a hot room proved difficult. Cannot imagine staying there in summer but happily stay again at a cooler time of the year.

We had easy walks to the Bergen downtown area to take the Tram up and down to hike. We enjoyed the Views of the town and harbor. Easy walks to Shopping and found many wonderful places to eat. Starbucks just down the street.

We stayed at The Grand Hotel Terminus for the night after enjoying a trip on one of the Hurtigruten ships. We didn't want to have to rush to the airport, but to have a little time to walk around Bergen.
We chose the TGHT as it was near to transport links and we could also leave our luggage...and what a wonderful choice we made for the final night of our Norwegian visit. The hotel had real character - Grand it was in every way. Our room, the dining, and the general ambiance. Thank you.

Everything is great but the parking. Parking discount works in a very confusing way. They have a discounted rate with a public parking garage. To get the discount, you need to let the front desk know your license plate within an hour of you parking there. The hotel won't take your license plate when you check in, before you parking your car.
The lady helped me with checking in wasn't super clear about it. I eventually got the discount by asking the parking garage's staff on duty. I believe the hotel should make this process more straightforward.

Give it an A plus for history and breakfast , cool property, but not so good for sleeping, no AC, windows open but to a noisy lane way, get that property can’t be upgraded for historic reasons, so no AC but definitely could add ceiling fan, or a portable fan for summer temperatures, tiny bathroom but manageable, great location and staff. Just not the best nights sleep

I stayed at this property for the second time. It is convenient to the station and the light railway so the airport is easily accessible and after travelling by rail the day I arrived it met my needs. The downside of this being an older hotel is that some rooms, the standard double do reflect this and are a little tired. There was a minibar but no tea or coffee making facilities in the room.
The breakfast is excellent though the hot items were not kept very hot by the hot plates this could be looked at. The rest was otherwise good and I would consider staying again

Excellent location across from the train station. Helpful employees. Many parts of the hotel need refreshing, but it was nice to stay in such an historic place. The very thin walls meant that I could hear every sound from the room next door. That’s why I gave it a relatively low rating for comfort. Luckily, I had to get up early, otherwise the radio next door at 5:30 AM would have bothered me more. You could hear the people talking, sneezing, etc. No room to open a large suitcase except on the floor, and the room was small to begin with, as are many European hotel rooms. Really fine breakfast.
