Everyone was very nice! The room was clean but tiny. Luckily I was only one person, because it would have been a struggle for 2 in that space. I should have noted the room size when I booked. Also its a 10+ minute walk from where the taxi drops you, so too much luggage would be tough. Also as noted there is no elevator so you need to lug your stuff up the stairs. No one offered to help.

The staff were wonderful , the room was and bathroom and shower was very clean , they went out of their way to provide me with whatever I asked , one staff lady even bought me a phone charger when mine broke . Breakfast was included they cooked great eggs and bacon coffee tea was awesome . If you're looking for luxury and fancy this isn't it . If you're looking for less crowd beautiful quite beach right out the front lobby doors then you found it . Carol , Ana , tfe chef , I forgot his name the cleaning ladies made up my room perfectly every day . All staff were friendly and they all spoke English and other multiple languages . I'll definitely go back .

Thought I got a great price for such large room shown in photos….. really walked into a tiny bed space with only one bed and cat crawling space around with nice glass bathroom & a toilet. But the property has aged a lot and need new decor including ROOM SIZE.

Lantau island is a beautiful island and Silvermine Bay is a pearl in that beauty. I've been visiting Lantau since 1965 when I was 3! I have not stsyed at this guest house before but for the money it is excellent value in a fantastic setting with lovely staff.

Customer service is very lacking.

Room and location are nice, but beware that if you pay the deposit on a card, the hotel won't bother telling your bank to release the money back to your account even after confirmation that the room was left intact. It has been weeks since my stay and I need my $500.00 back and the staff have been quite unhelpful in doing anything to speed up the process. It's unreasonable to hold onto a deposit for longer than a day or two after the checkout date.
Also, the WiFi didn't work really at all in our room and we had to resort to using our cell data even after trying to get help from the front desk.

good to stay

i stayed 2 nites for leisure with friends, found wifi and tv signal was instable in different rooms.
better rent a bicycle before go to the resort if u carry quite heavy baggage and will do rent a bicycle.
for breakfast, better offer 2 choices daily, like western or eastern style and be kind to offer free re-fill tea or coffee for competitive for the nearby hotels. its one of the service and complimentary for client to remember your resort.

The guesthouse is quite good generally, yet the air conditioning is quite weak and it's a bit too hot even when the electric fan is on. Some small scale maintenance is also needed due to wear and tear accumulated.

Pleasant room, but too many other issues...

What potential visitors are not told about this \"Hotel\" is that you have to walk around one kilometre from the nearest taxi drop-off - which is OK if young and with good legs, but painful with mobility issues. The same applies to the fact that all the rooms are on the first floor or above - and there is no Lift. Then there is the lunch or dinner - which, though cooked to order, you have to wait one hour after ordering for - so we ate out each night. Finally, though (and perhaps because), the showers in our room were quite powerful - and the shower door was slightly distorted - it was difficult to avoid a wet bathroom floor in the morning or evening...Not good. On the plus side, our luggage was collected (on a Trishaw), from the taxi stand - and returned there on leaving. Also, the breakfasts - usually a variation on ham & eggs - was quite good. The staff were as helpful as they could be, given that their collective grasp of English was not as one would expect in a hotel - so all in all, this is not recommended for elderly, injured or infirm English visitors - which is a shame.

Very easy to find, even in the middle of the night, contrary to what others stated about not finding it. Just have to open your eyes and walk 5 mins. Would stay again.

Friendly staff. But hard to get taxis around here. Wanted to go to Disneyland, but this area is not the place to stay for that. Would have been a good place to enjoy the beach and peace if we stayed longer.

Mui Wo is a very picturesque village on the side of Lantau Island opposite from the airport. There are not many choices for staying there, and this is one of 2-3 hotels there.

The hotel is pretty nice, it is right across from the beach. The check-in process was smooth. The rooms are very small, just a bit bigger than the bed, and the bathroom is really tiny. A big person (6' or so) would find it tough to fit in the shower. But the water is hot and the pressure fantastic. The bed is very comfortable.

There is not much space to put your clothes and other stuff. I had to keep most of mine in the suitcase.

The first day, there was water, coffee and cookies in the room. The subsequent days I asked for the cookies but did not get any - just the water and coffee.

The cleaning service works only in the morning, so if you sleep in late, you miss it.

The breakfast is a fixed menu that changes every day. Not much for vegetarians/vegans, since the bulk of it is animal based. They also do not give you a larger quantity of the non-animal stuff if you are vegetarian/vegan. You have to pay an additional $10 (HKD) if you want corn flakes - even if you haven't eaten their breakfast.

There is no lift, you have to climb a flight of stairs to get to the two upper levels.

Overall it was a good hotel for the price, and I would stay again - but I would try the other choices first just to make sure they are not better.

It was beside the beach..I checked in aeound 9pm. Has to stop at the mainroad and walked about 15 mins looking for the hotel...the road was dark and no lights to help you...only dogs met along the way.

No restaurants open had to fast for the night

Relax stay in Lantau

Cozy place in a remote site of Hong Kong, though the transport is quite convenient. The room was a little bit small, and you can feel the humidity as it’s by the sea. Barbecue package is a good deal, food portion was a little bit too big, but the quality was good.

The room is VERY SMALL! The internet was a little spotty, but that was understandable because there were mountains on 3 sides and water in the other. The restaurant is only available for breakfast. There was a 5 to 7 minute walk from the taxi stand to the hotel, but that was understandable because the beach and water were close by. When it came time to leave, the staff was attentive to set up the early morning taxi ride back to the airport. I thought the staff was very nice and the room clean and bathroom well stocked. Overall a nice place, just with a really small room for 2 people. If you are traveling alone the room is fine. The location is very beautiful. To get a variety of things to eat, you have to walk a little, but not bad.

We only stayed for one night and overall the experience was good. The hotel was tucked away
but not hard to find. Check-in was pretty straight forward. Our room was on the first floor, just at the top of the stairs. We didn't notice any lifts. We had a double-bed room. There was not very much space to move around in. The bathroom was a good size though, and our's looked new, like it had just been refurbished.
Breakfast was included in our stay. There wasn't any options but we didn't mind as it English breakfast. The service was very quick!

The hotel is located very far from transportation. We have to walk for about 30 minutes before we reached either to the hotel or the waiting taxi cab. The place is quite good if the intention is to enjoy the resort facilities like swimming at the beach. The service for the dining is the worst that I experienced in travelling outside our country.

The staff was amazing and we had such a pleasant experience at this hotel! It’s very close to the pier and bus terminal, as well as local attractions such as temples and the waterfall. It’s steps from the Silvermine Beach. The breakfast included exceeded our expectation as we thought we would be given continental pastries but was offered a hot breakfast every morning which changes daily. We would love to come back for an extended stay as this is a wonderful getaway from the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong inner city.

The font desk lady that checked me in around 12:00 at night was super friendly, chipper and excited to have a conversation. I really enjoyed talking to her and too bad she wasn't there when I left.

The property is about half hour from the airport and the taxi ride cost us 190HKD but its walking distance to the pier from where u can take a ferry to Central..so that really makes up for it. Really peaceful and awesome if you want to get some R&R..stayed only for a single night and really regretted not having stayed longer. Booked a little bigger room for 3 persons n it was super cozy and comfortable. The manager and staff were wonderful and friendly and really helped us with our onward journey!!

The property was so far away from airport. It is not like the advertisement describe. It is in middle of no where’s. they are not lift to take the luggages to the room. You have to carry all yours luggages yourself. The room was so small . The breakfast was not nice at all.
Overall it is very disappointed and to pay for that price was too much.

We were told to we could take a cab to the property. However, we were not told that we would be dropped off a 1/2 a mile from the front door. It was late at night and we are two young women in a strange country. Your website said the property was 5 minutes from the airport. It took us 45 minutes in a cab. Not true information at all.

This place worked well for me as a solo traveler. It has a \"faded glory\" feel to it and could use a sprucing up. If you're fixated on stained carpet and wall paper that is less than perfect, you might not be happy.
Stayed 5 nights and the room was cleaned daily, and for the price and great view I liked it!

The service was good. Most of the hotel staff could speak a little English. The room we stayed in was extremely small. I mean you could not open two full-size suit cases at the same time. There’s a bed, toilet, shower, small counter and a little TV. That’s it, no floor space. As far as the location, it was located right across the beach which was a positive. Unfortunately it’s far from the city. It was about a 30 minute cab ride through mountainous terrain. Oh the walls were thin as well. You can hear your neighbors. The free breakfast was ok, nothing spectacular. If you have the mindset of this being more like a hostel or motel than you won’t be let down expectation wise. You do have to walk about a 100 yards from where the taxi drops you off to the hotel.

This property is quite far from the HKG airport. You need to have more time for this location, as the transportation situation is not easy. There is no car/taxi traffic on street near hotel... YOU MUST WALK A LONG WAY - INCLUDING WITH YOUR LUGGAGE.
The rooms are very small, acknowledging this is typical for Hong Kong, However this a rural area where room sizes should be larger.

Would not recommend this place. There is no staff at the front desk during night time and early mornings which was very inconvenient. Me and my family have to leave at 0600 and there were no staff. They did not give my deposit back since there is no one to talk to. Bugs and cockroaches in our room which I would think would not be an issue since the hotel looked pretty new but I was wrong. Horrible experience. Never again.

Nice hotel except the breakfast.

Overall good place to stay. The late check in option and the additional email from property on \"how to get there\" was very helpful. Given the remote location from HK the surrounding area and beach was very pleasant compared to other city hotels.

Lantau is a very nice island and place to relax. The beach infront of the hotel was very relaxing. Wish we had more time. The ferry from Central pier was also easy to take.

The hotel staff was accommodating except the dog part. The dog barked when we tried to check in around midnight :) hope we did not wake someone.

The breakfast was a letdown. the scrambled egg was oily, the pancake was too oily. Given the nice seating arrangement they could have done better. There is an option of cereal for extra 10HKD. The staff was helpful with direction to Big Buddha.

The room was very small but nice with comfortable bed. The bath was nice and the beach area was pleasant for a walk in early hours.

A brief but pleasant stay by a nice sandy beach

Our room was fairly small but had all the amenities we needed. The hotel is situated just slightly back from the very nice Silvermine Beach on Lantau island (in an area which was curiously quiet when we were there - late October. Such a contrast from bustling Kowloon or Hong Kong island!)
A 500 HK$ deposit (cash or card) was required at check-in, but this was refunded on checking out - no problem.

We have stayed there before and will stay there again. Nothing beats the location and pricing. We have also stayed at Silvermine. The rooms here are newer and the staff nicer The only point that we prefer for Silvermine is the breakfast buffet. But before you go you need to know the following:

When the cab drops you off, it is a bit of a hike. Nice and safe, enjoy seeing the Cows and Ox if at night, but at least 500 meters.

Breakfast is great, but it is the designated breakfast of the day. They will do slight modifications, such as a plain omelette instead of a ham omelette, but don't ask for an omelette on dim sum day. We have also had their dinner, again only one or two options, also very good. You can buy beverages at the front desk. Again fair pricing.

Wi-Fi is advertised for the rooms, but super slow. The beach house wi-fi is close and free.

Tiny rooms. Good beds and very clean.

Don't pet the dog (the signs will remind you this as well) And don't do downstairs at 2:00 a.m. because you have jet lag and want to read without disturbing your partner. He will let you know that you should be in your room.

Overall this is a 4/5 property. Probably not the best if just one night because of the walk to and from the taxi stand or the bus. But if you need to be in HK for a few days, this is best basecamp for your business trip or family adventure. You have a relaxing resort atmosphere and after a nice walk to the Ferry, you are in Central HK in 45 minutes.

I really enjoyed the 12 nights I spent here. If you're looking for a peaceful break from your normal routine and you don't want to break your budget, Seaview is a great choice. No place is perfect. By American standards, the rooms are small, but the rooms have been recently remodeled, so they're in good condition. All the walls are made of concrete, so you'll rarely hear any noise from the other guests. The air conditioner was very quiet. The free breakfast each morning is nothing fancy, but fine, and helps with your daily expenses. Great service. In my rush to check out and catch a plane, I forgot one bag, and the hotel promptly arranged to help me get it shipped to my home. You're a short walk from the bay/beach. There's another, larger, more expensive hotel nearby, but after comparing the two, I'm glad I chose Seaview. You do have to walk about 10 minutes to get to the ferry port, several good restaurants, grocery stores, and such, so for that reason it's not for everyone, but Mui Wo is so peaceful that for me, it was well worth it. You're a short air conditioned ferry ride from central HK, and the ferries run about every 30 minutes, so you don't even need to bother with the train that runs from the airport into HK. If you want an affordable alternative to staying in some high rise hotel in the more urban parts of HK, Seaview is a smart choice.

Small resort hotel next to a beautiful beach

The resort hotel is small, no elevators, but only have 3-4 levels, could be a bit troublesome if you have big luggage.
The room was small, but clean enough.
The bed was too soft for my taste. The worst part of the room was the sound and smell proofing. I can hear next door TV sound penetrating the walls and the guy slept at 3AM. Also he was constantly smoking outdoors and I could smell this in my room.
The free breakfast was really simple; vermicelli with egg and ham, but it changes every day.
However the location was alright, 15 minutes walk from Ferry, but it is close to a beautiful beach. In the morning there is not many people, very peaceful.
The staff was nice in general, but there was not much interaction between us. Just the usual thanks and bye. There is a big guard dog in the lobby. Cute, but be careful :)
All in all it is ok for a 1 day getaway from the city, but at this stage I can't really recommend this hotel cause of the bad sound and smell proofing.

Nice hotel close to the beach. I loved the serene atmosphere.if we request they arrange taxi directly to airport. Mc Donald's nearby . Ferry service near to the hotel could fetch us straight to central had a nice experience travelling in ferry

Ther manager was quit grump. It took a long time for him to find my reservation....The major issue was there is NO road access by car or taxi. When you have (2) suite cases it is a 15 minute walk to the hotel.

Not good. Can’t sccess by car so you end up walking/carrying bags for half a mile. They want a full night deposit even though room was prepaid. Room was so small I had nowhere to put my bags. Internet only worked about 10% of the time. The beach is gross, stinks. Would never recommend.

Not close to the airport

I chose this hotel because I wanted to be near the airport. It’s no where near the airport!! You must take a Blue taxi to this hotel and it takes more than 40min.into a village. Once you arrive it’s a 5min to 7min walk the hotel. The staff is very nice, the rooms are very small but the shower is fantastic. This hotel offers a free breakfast that’s very tasty. I was told the 500 HKD deposit fee, was not put on my credit card, but I was charged this fee. I recommend using cash and getting this deposit back when you check out. Overall it was a good experience. I would stay again if I didn’t need to take an early flight or didn’t need to be close to the airport.

Best option if you need a place to crash near HKG

we booked the hotel as we missed our flight and needed a place near airport to crash for 8 hours, we picked the property as it had a good value comparing to other hotels in the airport area.
The location is not far less than 30 mins with uber and doesn't cost much.
we called the hotel first to confirm that we gonna check in @ 10 am and check-out by 7 pm and the were very considerable.
The hotel is good with a direct access on the beach which was surprisingly nice even with the rain.

I didn’t check in because the location is impossible to get there without having to walk for 6 minutes which is unacceptable. I didn’t know this before I booked and it was nonrefundable so I lost my $70 for nothing.

It’s definitely not a hotel near airport!

I booked this hotel through Orbitz. This hotel was listed among Hong Kong international airport 5 miles from airport. It turned out to be a 50 minutes car drive in the countryside. Hotel room was extremely small. It was clean. But no elevator. So called free breakfast was a bowl of instant noodle with a egg. Cows walking around in pedestrian trail and streets. Dogs wandering. I got quite a few big red stings from insects. A spider ran to under the bed. My one day in Hong Kong was ruined.

Our stay was awesome. The staff accommodated us wonderfully.
We arrived around 9am and they made our room available for us straight away.
The room was small but it was very clean and comfortable. We look forward to staying there next time.

I should'd known that was not a very good idea to lodge to a hotel that a taxi can't park in front. I was dragging my two 50 pounds luggages to the hotel coming and going with 10 minutes fro trip. Plus, my room was on the 3rd floor. There is no lift!

Other than this issue, the hotel is located in a nice location and the room is comfortable.

The hotel is far from the road. The customers have to walk around 2 km to the road to get the transportation. The beach in front of the hotel is stink disappointed my kids who wanted to swim.

The staff were very helpful. Also it is a very short walk to the beach, However the A/C in the room barely worked, it is a long walk to the nearest taxi stand and bus stop, and breakfast is not served until 8am.
