Hotel Sint Nicolaas is a timeless euro-cozy hotel that was absolutely perfect for us. A quick walk from the train station. We arrived with bad jet lag and were welcomed in for an early check in. While we waited we had coffee that is available all day at the lobby that also serves as a bar, breakfast spot, and comfortable place to bisit between activities. Our room was small but not too small, had a nice light blocking shade, generous fluffy pillows, roomy bed, good quality towels. On top of all this is the hotel staff: pleasant, happy, and available.

Room was spacouos, very clean and great amenities, warm and decorative to a hogh standard. The whole hotel definitely felt more expensive than what it was.

2 mins from the central train/bus station. 5 mins walk to dam center

Only slight negative was the Breakfast choice was limted but enough to fill up on. You could hear the traffic and trams outside but you'd get that anywhere in central Amsterdam

What stood out was the anytime FREEZ soft drinks in including bottles or coke and free hot drinks as well as nuts crisps even sweets. Free beer and wine when ever as well!

We had a room very nice but the clients on the up floor were making a lot of noise. We complain about that, and the hotel immediately change our room for another even nicer far from the noise and also offer to us the breakfast complimentary. We really appreciate the actions of the hotel. The ubication of the hotel is perfect. You can walk everywhere from there and have the train Starion like 200 mts from the hotel. We really like it the hotel.

Our stay here was really great! It's less than a minute walk to Amsterdam Centraal Station. When we arrived early to store our luggage before check in, a room was available so we were able to check in earlier. The room even had a view that included Centraal Station. It is close to a lot of great food options.
Although we didn't have breakfast or dinner at the hotel, the ambience was very cozy. The staff was extremely friendly and the room and bathroom was spacious.
I would definitely stay here again! 10/10

The hotel's location allowed us to walk everywhere we wanted to go in Amsterdam. The building is charming and the bed very comfortable. We liked the coffee machine available all day. The staff was friendly. The breakfast had many choices and was very good. I would recommend to anyone visiting Amsterdam.

The saving of this hotel is that it is very convenient for the station. Room ok but very poor shower and bath. By mistake went down fire escape stairs and door was BLOCKED. Area outside entrance to hotel very dirty, even vomit one day. Generally Amsterdam was dirty with lots of rubbish on streets. Rotterdam is much cleaner!

This Horel is a haven amoungst the chaos of a very dirty Amsterdam.... As soon as you came in through the doors (which you had a electronic key for) you felt safe and secure ,only guest could use the hotel and we found this fabulous..10 out of 10 for the Sain Nicolas..Not so for Amsterdam !!

Deadbolt didn’t work, recommended taxi was a surprise Uber and there was a staff in the room at 3:30pm for 10 plus minutes doing “turn down” with no turn down supplies or visible evidence he did anything except shock us when we entered the room and found him in the bathroom.

For a European room it was quite large, but the \"twin\" beds were very narrow to the point I literally fell out while trying to roll over.
Staff were very friendly, but (at least some) are not trained in all of the technology in the room, such as the tv/tablet. We asked for assistance in finding any Englush options or at least turning on subtitles, but the front desk was not familiar with the system. She tried to show us how to \"cast\" from our phones to the tv using the tablet, but could not get it to work.

Worst hotel room ever

Probably the filthiest room I have ever seen. It was so bad, we went back downstairs along with photographic evidence to request another. Probably for the best none were available. A blessing in disguise! Checked out and requested refund. Lady at reception was lovely. No manager on duty and they really didn’t care. Honestly, how this place gets good reviews is beyond me.

Cozy hotel right in the middle of Amsterdam. You can see the hotel when you exit the station and then it's a 5-10 minute walk.
There are ample stores and restaurants of all price ranges nearby. Come by bike or public transport as there is little parking available.

The room was small but very clean. Shower had good water pressure.

The breakfast was surprisingly good for such a small hotel. They had bacon, eggs and little pancakes as well as a standard assortment of cold cute and pastries. The coffee was very good and I felt the breakfast was worth what we paid.
If you don't end up with the hotel breakfast, there are ample other places to eat nearby.

We had a fantastic experience at Hotel Saint-Nicolas. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that a complimentary breakfast was included—what a treat! The breakfast was delicious, with a great variety of options to choose from, and the dining area was pleasant and welcoming.

One of our favorite perks was the complimentary coffee machine available in the common area. It was such a thoughtful touch—having access to any kind of coffee we wanted, whether heading out for the day or coming back to relax, really made our trip even better.

Our room was very comfortable, spotless, and beautifully decorated. Everything felt clean, cozy, and well-maintained.

The location was absolutely perfect—walking distance to just about everything you’d want to see in Amsterdam. It made exploring the city easy and enjoyable.

Last but not least, the hotel staff were incredibly kind and helpful. They made sure we had everything we needed and were always ready to offer assistance or information with a smile.

We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend Hotel Saint-Nicolas to anyone visiting Amsterdam!

This hotel is a short, easy walk from the central train station in Amsterdam, which itself is a short, easy train ride from Schiphol airport. It is therefore very easy to walk or use public transportation from this hotel to reach many tourism destinations in the city.

The room was furnished well but showed some signs of disrepair and poor execution. For example, there were plenty of electrical outlets near the head of the beds for charging customer devices, but too few outlets on the opposite wall to power all of the room's other appliances: floor lamp, TV, coffee maker, kettle, and Android tablet with not terribly useful hotel information (in lieu of a printed guidebook). In the bathroom, the bathtub had a strange half-door that couldn't prevent water from spilling onto the floor and the clothes hook on the inside of the bathroom door was loose and unable to carry any weight.

Stayed with my 12 year old daughter for a few nights. Hotel was in a brilliant location as you could walk to everything. Transport options we also just a few minutes walk away. Great location in the city. Staff were great from start to finish. This includes everyone from reception to cleaning staff. They were all lovely. The hotel is so clean and feels luxurious. I’d say the room we had was small so if you can try and get a better than standard size room. It was a great stay. Even the pool and rooftop were lovely. If you’re parking the spaces are mainly for smaller cars just keep in mind.

It’s super accessible and close to central train station 9min walk away. Location is conveniently near restaurants and bars and “coffeehouses “……I have stayed here previously when i transit through Amsterdam and it’s ok for 1-3 nights, the standard room is way over priced and should be adjusted to be under 100€. The hot water in room 46 at 8am was not even reaching to that 4th floor that early in the morning and assuming that all the rooms share the same water boiler distributed throughout the building. Overall it’s an OK stay for a couple or business stop, not kid friendly or longer stay. Breakfast was really nice and 24hr coffee bar in the lobby.

Location was good and close to the train station. Walkable to many areas in Amsterdam. It was usually quiet. When we received our final bill there was a 200 euro charge for breakfast. When we checked in we were never told we had breakfast included, only coffee. When we questioned it the guy said “that happens a lot” but we were still charged. Outside the front door is a bench that is a gathering place for people who smoke, lay around and seem to enjoy themselves. There was a lot of trash and cigarettes littered and one day someone forgot their pants on the bench.

I'm rating this as 5 stars even though we had a negative situation with my brother's room as they got robbed. Long story short, after the internal investigation, the videos showed that the cleaning personnel took the money and they fired the person. Hotel Sint Nicolaas is a charming boutique hotel centrally located close to Amsterdam Centraal station. The room was comfortable with plenty of space for our luggage. Comfortable bed & linens. The breakfast buffet for 27 euros lacked food. Hot dishes weren't replenished and the staff was not responsive to requests for additional food. If you came past 8:30am you are only getting yogurt and toast. Eggs, sausages and anything else hot is all gone by then. I would opt out of the buffet and walk down the street to spend your money at Koeplecafe for a nice breakfast instead.

The hotel lobby and sleeping room were great. Unfortunately the bathroom had a bad sewer gas smell and the shower was constantly wet and moldy. I don’t know where the water was coming from but at times the entire shower floor was wet. I reported the smell one day then the mold and water all over the floor the next morning. When I came back at the end of the day the employee was unaware and because it was the weekend couldn’t do anything. The hotel discounted my stay and as much as I loved Amsterdam and the hotel location I wouldn’t want to book there again and risk the bathroom issue.

Hotel Sint Nicolaas is an older property that is fairly well maintained. Room size wasn't bad for an older property, but there isn't a lot of room for luggage if more than one person are staying in the room. Air conditioning worked very well! You get a little noise from the street trams outside, but it's not horrible. Our room has a very nice bathroom. The tablet/clock/radio on the nightstand didn't work, but that wasn't an issue since we both have phones. Room included a nice closet with a safe. The table and chairs were a nice touch. Breakfast was nice and staff was very friendly and helpful. Hotel is very close to Centraal Station and many shops and restaurants. The only downside for us was that one side of the bed sloped towards the outer side of the bed. There is an area right outside the front of the hotel with a benched area that is a hangout for many people whom I presume are locals? Or can get pretty trashy with litter some nights, but we never felt threatened by those in the area. O would consider staying here again.

The hotel was an average stay, although it was quite pricey compared to other hotels but due to needing a room that slept 4adults we had been limited by choice. The location however is very good, but we had inconsistent house keeping, one day two beds got made and two clean towels and the other two bed left unmade and no refresh of towels. The second day no house keeping at all. Experienced three different receptions staff one of which was quite rude and unhelpful, theirs a nice beverage machine that is complementary in reception, however on one of the occasions the milk had ran out and the lad in reception informed us that there was no more milk. However when two of our party retired to bed two other guests came in to make a drink and suddenly milk appeared. Although it is Amsterdam so many hallucinations are possible but this was not our case.
All in all somewhere that’s ok to get your head down and a shower.

Great location not far from central station and with a tram stop round the corner. Perfect for travelling solo
The bed was uncomfortable and the mattress topper kept moving and sliding off which was a pain. The internet and tv kept stalling in the room
Very noisy as faced into the Main Street but to be expected from the location.
Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful - sorting out a taxi for me as well as recommending places to visit. They made it a great stay.

Poor staff attitude

The hotel itself was beautiful and ideally located. Overall we had a lovely stay, however we were upset by the attitude of one staff member at the check-in desk. When it was fedback that the coffee pods weren’t replenished in the room overnight she appeared argumentative rather than helpful and suggested that we should go for our coffee downstairs instead of in the room as it was better. She was then was observed to roll her eyes to her colleague. This wasn’t an unreasonable request and left us feeling humiliated and upset. So we could not recommend this hotel.
