I recently stayed in this hotel for four nights. The location is superb, I arrived by train, as it is less than five minutes walk from station, and less than five minutes walk to the town which is full of great bars and restaurants and many interesting buildings to look at. The staff are very friendly, mostly English speaking. The room was very comfortable, and my balcony view was some trees. The optional breakfast was very good value. The bathroom was clean and practical. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting La Rochelle.

Good night stay in this hotel close to the action. Older place with nice staff, good breakfast for 10 euros. The mattress was not very comfortable and the wifi accessible only in the common places. Reasonable price, was really ok.

The hotel is located centrally and very close to the train station. The overall value however is average especially when you compare the price to fact that the rooms are not very big, the furniture is a bit dated and the bathroom a bit minimalist.

Located close to railway station and bus stops although a fair walk into town centre and not the nicest of areas at night....It is a no frills, basic hotel which provides a comfortable if small room and very basic bathroom.Very friendly staff and a reasonable breakfast buffet. You have to pay up front on arrival which is unusual.Part of a chain of hotels bearing this name.....there were lots of French people staying which gave it a very family feel. It did what we needed to do(provide somewhere to sleep and waah) but with a very basic feel.

Nice little room for a family, although the staircase going to second level inside the room was super steep and scary for kids. We put some chairs at the top and some pillows at the bottom just in case.

We stayed here in La Rochelle over Bastille Day (14July) and France's victory at the World Cup Final (15 July 2018) and I don't think we could have chosen a better place. It s nicely situated between the railway station and the harbour / Big Wheel area and the staff were welcoming and helpful, despite all the joyous distractions outside!

Simple and clean with a great location

This is a comfortable, budget place located right next to the bustling harbor but far enough away to keep things peaceful. It's a somewhat worn, simple property but the service is very helpful and the price is great for what you are getting. Despite the slightly worn facilities, everything was kept spotless. So, a pleasant, simple place at at the right price. Perfect for family travel. One big piece of advice: If you want to get paid, and much cheaper parking in the hotel rather the surrounding garages, you need to come earlier in the day as the lot only holds about a dozen cars. Breakfast is meh, and I recommend skipping the fee and instead eating at one of the nice cafes and bakeries along the harbor.

Nice hotel in excellent location.

This hotel is a budget hotel but is comfortable and clean. There is a car park and the location is excellent, just behind the aquarium and a short walk into town. The staff are friendly and helpful. The only downside is the breakfast, which is poor. There is very little choice and the quality of the food is only ok at best. We have stayed before and knew this so went to cafes for breakfast instead.

Overall would recommend.

Great location...Mostly everything else was lousy

Cons: The entire hotel was like a sauna, having trapped the heat in from the previous week. There was the tiniest of fans on the desk which was completely worthless. I had a door to a balcony and no other window, and although it was nice having a balcony, if you leave the door open, bugs come flying in since there is no screen. Even though the balcony itself was cool and comfortable no air made its way into the room even with the door ajar. There was a TV that I couldn't turn on. The entire floor smelled awful. The bathroom lights flickered.

Pros: The WiFi worked fairly well and the location was fantastic! Also, the shower had good water pressure and temperature.

Good value hotel close to old town.

This hotel is attractive and very well placed. The old harbour is five minutes walk away as is the aquarium and there is a car park at the hotel with an allocated place so no worries about going out and finding a place on your return. It is good value and I would definitely stop there again. The only down side is the breakfast which was one of the poorest breakfasts we've ever had in France - there was nothing to eat! There was cheap bread and cheap supermarket croissants, a few slices of cheap tinned ham which were hidden under a lidded dish and when found and taken were replaced, on request, with another four or five slices to feed the entire room. There was a bit of cheap cheese, highlight was Baby Bel, and one day even that wasn't there so I had to ask for some. The lady gave me a Baby Bel and didn't put any more on the buffet table. There was stacks of natural yogurt but fruit yogurts also seemed to be on ration. Having said that the staff were friendly and I did like the hotel and will return, but I really wish they'd do something about the breakfasts!

Lovely stay at the hotel. Friendly staff, although with my French and their English we did get our wires crossed now and again. ! Room was a good size and we had a balcony. It cleaned every day and fresh towels. Breakfast was typical Continental buffet style, as much as you wanted to eat. Couldn't fault anything and would definitely use again. Very close to all the sights so great for wandering about at night.

Lovely hotel in the heart of La Rochelle

This was a really lovely hotel, really clean. Great family room for our two kids with a little upstairs room in the hotel. The staff were really helpful when when our bank card got swallowed up by a bank machine. The only issue we had was with Expedia who had said we would have breakfast included but when she showed us the details she received breakfast was not included.

First time at Les Gens La Rochelle recommended by friends. Found it a very clean and tidy Hotel. There was work going on in the reception area but this did not spoil our stay. We were there for a soft tip dart competition and will definitely stay here next year.

The perfect place to stay in La Rochelle

so tell is extremely close to the train station one short block away. However tosyl close to the water. there also coffee shops and a lot of shopping across the street.

The hotel itself is fairly upscale. Everything has a nautical theme. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful.

only complaints : no hot water maker in the room and the heater was not turned on and I couldn't figure out how to use it

A very comfortable hotel with helpful, friendly staff. We were fortunate to have a room with a balcony and could enjoy a drink al fresco. We didn't have breakfast as we needed to catch an early train. As the rail station was a 2 minute walk away this was a perfect location. It is also walking distance to the old harbour with stunning views, bars and restaurants. Comfortable room and not noisy despite being on a main road. Would recommend.

Staff soo helpful! Easy to find.. Not even 5 min walk from train station.. And no more than a leisurely 15 min flat walk into main town. Rooms clean and warm although wifi didn't work in my room but worked perfectly in the quiet lobby so not a hassle at all.. Very safe and secure for single travellers. Would recommend and would happily stay again

Cependant, il semble préférable de réserver directement auprès de l’hôtel et non via la plateforme ‘hôtels’ qui ne met pas à jour les disponibilités. Le personnel en sera davantage gratifié, vous aurez plus de chances d’être logés dans la partie la plus récente de l’établissement, et vos souhaits initiaux seront alors honorés sans mauvaise surprise, notamment si vous sélectionnez les chambres twin qui y sont rares.

Bien situé près de la gare et du port, mais il est vieillissant. Au regard du prix, je m’attendais à bien mieux ! Chambres vieilles qui mériteraient un sacré rafraîchissement… il est dit internet haut débit, ce n’est pas le cas. Service minimum dans la chambre. Le personnel fait le ménage tôt en claquant les portes et ça réveille. Bref, je n’y retournerai pas, surtout à presque 100 euros la nuit !

Buenísima situación aunque un poco anticuado

Hotel muy bien situado , para mi no puede tener mejor ubicación ya que está al lado del puerto y del centro de la Rochelle, pero en una zona sin ruido y muy tranquila. Lo único que decepciona es que siendo tan buena ubicación no esté un poco más reformado porque seria mucho mas agradable. Aun asi he de reconocer que estaba bien limpia la habitación Tiene un parking privado al aire libre dentro del recinto del hotel que resulta muy cómodo por solo 13 euros al dia , mucho mas barato que aparcar en la calle si vas a estar unos dias . El personal del hotel fuè muy amable en todo momento.

Un peu déçu sur le confort, soit très mal insonorisé, bruit de la rue, bruit du réseau de chauffage malgrès la coupure des radiateurs, bruits TV des voisins.
Grosses pertes d'eau avant la température chaude, soit plus d'une minute de gaspillage.
Petit déjeuner a l'économie
Personnel compétent mais avec un outil de travail vétuste.
Une facture de plus de 330 euros pour 3 nuits et 3 petits déjeuners, ce qui est convenable, mais ayant pris 2 cafés au moment du départ servis par le personnel avec la machine du petit déjeuner, non pas offert mais 2 euros le café !

Nous avons passé 2j merveilleux à La Rochelle. Une première pour nous. Et nous avons choisi au hasard cet hôtel. Ce fut un très bon choix. Hôtel chaleureux, propre, et la chambre, avec une mezzanine oour les enfants. Chacun avait son coin. Super bonne idée. De plus, l'hôtel est situé au centre ville, donc pas besoin d'utiliser la voiture, tout peut se faire à pied. A refaire sans hésiter!!!!

Quelle accueil formidable 💪😀

Nous sommes venus passer un moment en famille.
A notre arrivée vendredi vers 20h00, nous avons été chaleureusement accueilli par 2 femmes. Ns ns sommes sentis à notre aise très rapidement !
Le lendemain, une autre équipe tout aussi agréable.
Petit dej très bien, il n'y a que la douche un peu trop petite et le manque de volets qui ns ont légèrement \"dérangés\".
Bref rien de bien grave vu le temps que nous y restons.
Dans la nuit de samedi à dimanche, j'ai fait un insomnie (habituelle, rassurez-vous) donc je suis descendu pr regarder la TV dans le hall et là encore une fois j'ai eu à faire à une super veilleuse très sympa !!
Concernant la propreté, rien à redire... Alors que ns sommes très maniaques 😉
La situation de l'hôtel permet de tout faire à pied, c'est Top !
Je vous recommenderai et ns reviendrons avec plaisir !

Nous avons sélectionné cet hotel pour les avis et notes donnés par les clients pour un séjour de 2 jours entre soeurs.
Nous avons été déçues...
Les photos donnent l impression d espace dans les chambres mais cela n est pas le cas (notamment un espace d'un cm entre l abattant des toilettes et l'ouverture de la porte...) , la douche était vraiment petite (bac de 80cm, meme moi avec mon petit gabarit je me sentais à l'étroit...).
Le sol de notre chambre laissait à désirer : dalles en lino collees a meme la moquette qui s'enlevaient a certains endroits, finition catastrophique qui ne donne pas une.bonne image de l hotel.
Le quartier est quelque peu bruyant et si votre chambre donne côté rue vous entendrez forcément ce qu'il s y passe !

Par contre la chambre et la salle de bains étaient propres a notre arrivée (petites poussières sur le cadre de lit mais cela arrive)

Je tiens à finir sur une note positive : le personnel de l hotel est très aimable et serviable. Nous avons apprécié leur gentillesse pour repondre à chacune de nos demandes et leur sympathie. Ca fait du bien d'être reçue ainsi.

Je n'ai pu que peu profiter de l'hôtel et de la Rochelle, je suis arrivé tard et reparti tôt. Ce qui est très bien, l'accueil, la propreté, le confort du lit. Ce que j'ai aimé, le charme un peu old school d'un hotel indépendant, ce qui change des chambre un peu impersonnelles des grandes chaines...Alors forcément, ça peu être un moins pour d'autres. La télé, la salle de bains, la déco ne sont pas tendance. Mais c'est aussi pour ça que j'ai choisi cet hôtel. Respect des protocole covid bien respectés. Emplacement top.

Excellent séjour !

Hôtel très bien situé (proche de la gare et du Vieux-Port). Excellent accueil. Séjour de 7 nuits dans chambre agréable donnant sur le parc, au calme.
