They should indicate that the closest parking is at Place de Verdun, so you can go there directly instead of getting lost in the small streets and fighting with signage that doesn’t match your GPS. Good location for visiting the town on foot and for getting buses both into town and to Ile de Ré, airport, etc - the main bus transport hub, Place de Verdun, is 2 mins walk away. Room was clean, hotel was quiet (my room was at the back overlooking a courtyard, but the street at the front is quiet too, not much traffic as it's a side street, not a main road), staff were efficient. I was travelling solo and had a standard double room - fine for one person but would have been a bit of a squeeze for two. Bathroom was very small. No minibar or coffee/tea making facility but they do 24 hour room service on a reasonably priced basic food and drink menu.

I stayed here for 1 day as I had an early-ish flight from La Rochelle airport. In the old part of town so convenient for museums, shops, the harbour and restaurants/bars. CLean comortable room. A little on the small size but I didn't spend much time in it. short walk to the Place de Verdun to pick up the airport bus and buses to the Ile de Re. Friendly helpful staff who assisted in whatever I asked for.

Stayed two nights in the Mercure St Emillion as part of a flying trip around France. Very comfortable hotel, well appointed, clean rooms, no complaints at all. The hotel is on the edge of the old town, next to the river, so about 10 minutes walk into the town square.
Only comment I would make is the breakfast which was €15, way too expensive. I walked into town and bought coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice and croissant for just €4.10 from a town centre cafe !

A simple hotel for a reasonable price in a central location. Not worth having the breakfast as you can better and cheaper in the cafes around Vieux Port.

Pleasant budget hotel.
Nothing out of the ordinary but just what you would expect from a hotel which is part of this chain. Clean, comfortable en-suite room which was quite small but adequate for our needs. The buffet breakfast was good value at 9 euros. We arrived very early and asked if we could leave our luggage but we were told our room was ready so were able to check in, which was good service and much appreciated. The hotel is on Rue Fleuriau which is opposite the cathedral and a stone's throw from the Place Verdun - ideally situated for the number 7 bus to and from the airport, which is a bargain at 1.30 euro a journey! The Tourist Office has a map and self guided walking tour of La Rochelle for 20 cents. A day trip to Ile de Re (number 3 green line bus from Place Verdun) costs 5 euros for a day ticket which allows as many hop on / hop off stops as you can manage was a good way to see a bit more of the area. Again, info from the tourist office.

This Ibis hotel is now called Centre Historique on the Ibis website rather than Vielle Ville. It was cheaper than the two other Ibis hotels in La Rochelle, which are on the harbour, but this one is only 5 mins walk away.

Not easy to find on market day!
There are most confusingly THREE hotels with the name of Ibis in La Rochelle, and when there is a market in town you cannot drive down Rue Fleuriau where our hotel is situated. We spent over an hour an a half driving round town by sat nav and getting conflicting directions before finding a way to walk the last hundred yards or so. The hotel itself was absolutely fine!

San Remo Hotel in San Francisco
This is a low budget hotel. If you get a good price, it is good enough. It is clean, rooms are small with no frills. Toilets and showers are outside at the end of each hall. If you don't like that idea, don't go. I didn't mind that. But when I went, SF was packed and so I had to pay a lot more than normal a night for this place. Too much. But if it was half what I paid, its a good way to stay in SF on a low budget.. Location is a mile or two from the center of town but only 4 blocks from the coast and Embargadero. Easy to get a bus right to downtown or convention center. One bus, lots of service and you are at the convention center.

fairly young reception staff - polo shirts is the uniform so you get the picture. They were pretty laid back but courteous at check in and helpful if you asked them anything, so as long as you dont expect a high degree of professionalism you wont be disappointed. La chambre est minuscule, mais la salle de bain est encore pire . C’est très compliqué pour descendre de la douche. La porte de douche ouvrante est étroite (environ 35cm) et l’autre est fixe. J’ai payé 138€74 pour une chambre qui correspond plutôt à un formule1! De plus l’accessibilité est compliquée pas de place de stationnement sans que nous en soyons prévenus.

La Rochelle est une ville que j'apprécie beaucoup et où j'ai le plaisir de venir passer un jour ou deux.
C'est une ville très vivante et je parcours ses rues là où mes pieds m'emmènent et à chaque fois je découvre de magnifiques bâtissent. Que ce soit le vieux port, les halles....tout est là pour nous faire passer un bon moment sans oublier l'océan bien entendu !

La localisation est parfaite pour profiter d’un court séjour. Pas de parking mais pas de problème pour trouver une place dans la rue. Chambre petite et propre. On entend un peu le bruit de la chambre voisine. Mais peut être cela dépend aussi du voisin qu’on a ce jour là.
