A great location to stay in La Rochelle, right on the harbour. A little confusing getting to the hotel through the barrier’s but if you ring the hotel they will lower them for you, there is a height restriction of 1.95 for the secure parking.
We stayed in a Discovey Room Poolside and looked over the pool, it was very quiet at night.
We felt it lacked in atmosphere but no one stayed in the hotel bar due to the choice in the area. Great choice at breakfast and very helpful staff.

Great location in La Rochelle

Right by the harbour in La Rochelle. Great for trying a range of bars and restaurants.
Lovely hotel with great staff who are extremely helpful.
Hotel has a lovely pool area, quite unusual for the centre of La Rochelle.
Hotel has a section of a nearby car park which is very secure. You'll need to check in at the hotel before accessing the parking, we would have appreciated that information beforehand.
Would definitely stay there again when in La Rochelle.

The hotel is in a beautiful location overlooking the port. The bedrooms are excellent, very clean and comfortable and have everything you need. The breakfast is really great, it has pure orange juice, hot and cold food and plenty of room. The room that the breakfast is held in needs serious updating. The carpets and walls are all stained and there is a odd small there. The pool is lovely on a hot day but there are not enough sun beds which didn't affect us as the weather was not good enough to sit out at.

The hotel is located in a beautiful city/ port, unfortunately nowhere on the information available does it state it is virtually impossible to drive to, due to the location is pedestrian only. Having tried for over an hour driving round and round, the satnav trying to take us down bus lanes etc. We eventually parked and walked to check in. I mentioned the problem to the staff at reception as we were aware parking was available. We were hoping to get some assistance in finding the car park, we received a shake of the head and told, yes it is difficult and our car park is fully booked tonight. My partner said she thought we had booked it, the male handed us a key fob to get into the car park available to the hotel. We walked back to our car, drove to the car park and the fob would not let us in as the message displayed was ‘out of service’. We then had to navigate our way back to the previous car park from where we had recently left. Once parked we unloaded our cases and walked again to the hotel. Having told the male on reception the key fob wouldn’t work when handing it back we received another shake of his head. On checking out this morning, he also tried to charge car parking our room.

One plus for the bed, as it was comfortable, the hotel decor is tired and the carpet tiles in the breakfast area, had patches where it looked like something awful had been spilled or sprayed on, surely an attempt to clean them was possible or change them.
Rather disappointing stay, not 4 🌟

My second stay at this hotel (Yachtman) and they always outdo themselves. The rooms are fabulous and super clean. Their cleaning ladies are always helpful and respectful of our privacy, accepting to assist but not enter. The establishment is dog friendly and right on the docks- absolutely fantastic

Should have been closed whilst renovation hotel.

Thé hôtel will be beautiful once the renovation work has finished. Health and safety we an issue with power tool wires across the main corridor. Building work started at 8 am and went on all day. The lounge and the swimming pool were out of bounds. We managed you use the swimming pool towards the end of the stay, but if was difficult to get out without any steps.The fridge in the room hadn’t been emptied and they was smelly cold fish and chips inside when we arrived.
The staff were very helpful in trying to refund us and try to find us another hotel but last minute hotel accommodation not easy to find at short notice. In the end we decided we had no option but to stay. We did receive free breakfasts and complimentary wine to compensate for the inconvenience.

Loved the hotel, perfect location and nice room. The hotel has some renovation work going on otherwise I would rate it very highly. Staff are really very nice. There are only two negatives - it is a little bit complicated to park in their car park but ok when you know how, and I would have preferred to have real cups and glasses in the room rather than flimsy paper ones which were too hot to hold to drink the coffee. Located in the harbour, walking distance around the town centre.

We booked the junior suite and it was very comfortable and roomy. Was not expecting to see individual plastic toiletries which were fairly basic- no shower cap. Was expecting glasses for drinking instead of paper cups. Glasses were provided upon request. Plugs in sinks not working and reported. Shame there was no tea/ coffee provided in room as with other French hotels. Staff were excellent and really helpful in all areas of our stay. Perfect location for the old harbour.

The poirest hotel of our stay. It is an old hotel in need of a good renovation. The best part was our view of the Vieux Port, but it also came with the noise of people partying until the wee hours. The breakfast reminds me of school cafeteria where you ask the attendant what you want and endure a long line. Don't understand why they won't let us help ourselves at a buffet like all other hotels. Saving?!? And again the breakfast room needs a renovation.
I would note recommend the Yatchman to friends.

Location is excellent. Relaxed athmosherw and good breakfast. The only downside for me was a disturbed sleep every night due to room position at the rear block of the hotel onto a busy laneway and over a restaurant and bar which stayed open very late.

God location, but dated and needs a face-lift.

Nice enough hotel in a good position on the waterfront. Generally clean, but could do with a bit of money spent on it. Walls are pebble-dashed white. Mixer tap in round 530 is in wrong position meaning that's you can whack yourself trying to stand up. Support rail to get out of bath would only be useful to Spider-Man. Room was at back of hotel, but still heard noise from the street with several big bars just up the road. Am sure idiots ran through the hotel shouting at closing time. Breakfast was apple but over priced. Car parking is available in a secure car park just a couple of minutes away. Overall, a good one night stay, but would probably look elsewhere next time even if it costs a little more.

Hotel in a very good location situated by the port/harbour and all the restaurants. Within walking distance of the Place de Verdun where the airport bus stop is.Staff were friendly and accommodating and no problems with leaving our luggage at the hotel due to an early arrival and then an evening flight. Our room was not particularly spacious but was o.k , had a small balcony and overlooked the pool. We did not have breakfast so can’t comment on this.
The hotel itself though seemed dated and in need of modernisation and a bit of a shine. The bathroom and separate loo in our room looked old and worn. The walls of the swimming pool above the water line were dirty. For a one night stay and for the price we paid, I wouldn’t grumble but one night was enough for me.

Our second visit to La Rochelle and it didn't disappoint. Great food, excellent hotel with stunning view. La Rochelle has a bit of everything, good weather, beach, places of interest, shopping and restauarants/cafes in abundance. A very short walk into main thoroughfares and harbour where you can pick up a boat to the next resort or to islands off the main coast.
Would recommend for families or couples as there is enough for all types of holiday. Roughly a 10 minute walk to the train station if you want to explore (as we did) and approx. 30 minutes to Rochefort which is a great day trip. Woiuld highly recommend and will definitely be back!

This was a spacious hotel with a brilliant central location, handy for everything. It had a spacious private balcony with loungers and table overlooking the swimming pool - loved the swimming pool! - and the bed was super comfy, bathroom fine and very clean.
We didn’t have the hotel breakfast as it seemed pricey (12E) compared to the cafe price (6.50/7.50E)

Tiny does not begin to describe the smallness of our room. There was a strong smell of cleaning products when we entered. When we attempted to open the window, we realised that there was a steel shutter, as we were only a meter away from passing pedestrians. It turns out this backstreet was a popular party spot. That night we had a choice between an overheated room or a noisy one. Avoid!

Good location when you can get there!

Initial difficulty in getting to the hotel caused by the number of one-way streets compounded with road works throughout the city was soon forgotten when we checked in with the friendly reception staff.
Parking is at a sister hotel but is nearby & very secure.. Our room was sizeable and well furnished.
Good choice at breakfast, including cooked eggs & bacon. Excellent view of the harbour from the breakfast room. Nice pool in the central courtyard.

Le Yachtsman is very stylish front of house and the staff were fabulous. The room, however, whilst large was out the other side of shabby chic. Not dirty but just really tired. It's in a really good location but we probably wouldn't stay there again.

The hotel had a fantastic location the room was big and clean if a little old in décor plenty of hot water and great staff sound fantastic but the noise in the evening was shocking until around 3am and then they come and clean the street and collect the rubbish a few hours later so sleep was precious moments.

Good position overlooking the old fishing port and convenient for the lively summer night-life in La Rochelle.Staff very helpful too with a good selection in the petit dejeneur offering.
Dining room carpet could do with replacement and some of the public areas a smarten up with a lick of paint after replastering. I think heating the small pool would add to the enjoyment factor as it's not quite San Tropez weather here!Nice touch with the fluffy pool robes in our room but in quite the opposite direction,- why does the hotel management think we're all midgets with the small thin non fluffy bath towels?-although they are changed daily.Would stay again.

Fantastic location and views on the Quai overlooking the Old Harbor. In the middle of the excitement of the Old Town.
The hotel's rooms and bath were huge and comfortable.
The staff was welcoming and friendly.
Lots of things to see and do - scenic cruises of the harbor, enormous boat basin, aquarium, mega yachts, restaurants, etc. Beaches nearby.
Easily the best place of the 13 cities/towns we visited (including Paris) on this trip

After a disasterous 24hours prior (in Bordeaux), I just wanted a nice hotel that was close to everything I needed. ie:train station & somewhere to eat. Le Yachtman was just that and more. Although a little on the expensive end, more than I would've normally paid, in the end I didn't care because it was worth spending a little extra for the comfort and service. The staff spoke English well and the room itself was lovely. Sepearte toilet from the bathroom & huge vanity to place all my bathroom toiletries (i have a lot!). Overall would 100% recommend and stay again.

I would highly recommend this hotel. The staff were friendly, helpful and courteous. We stayed in the family room which was gorgeous w it's mezzanine design but it was adjacent to the elevator shaft which resulted in early morning noise which did intrude on our sleep unfortunately.

Nice little hotel in excellent location. Right opposite the harbour and within very easy walking distance of shops, restaurants, museum, Aquarium etc. Only downside was that although our room was at the back it still picked up a lot of noise from outside until quite late at night. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Outdoor pool and terrace area. Bar serving snacks as well.

We had a premier room which was very spacious with a huge comfortable bed. It was at the front of the hotel so although we had a view of the port, it was a bit noisy. The noise is from the road traffic and nearby bars. We expected that though before we arrived so no problem really.
We did not have the breakfast at the hotel so can not comment on that.
The hotel is quite ideally situated for everything.
It has a nice swimming pool in a courtyard, which was lovely and clean, and heated.

We have just returned from a four night stay at Le Yachtman. The position of this hotel could not be bettered. Right on the harbour front, within two minutes walking distance of restaurants and shops. The part I appreciated the most about this hotel was the attitude of the staff. So friendly. Nothing was to much trouble, and would most certainly recommend a stay to anyone wishing to visit La Rochelle.

Super weekend dans cet hôtel hyper bien situé dans la ville.Le plus une piscine qui en pleine canicule a été des plus salvatrices. Le petit déjeuner est top et de qualité. Notre chambre la 423 était parfaite, une super literie, une super insonorisation, des volets électriques, des wc séparé et une belle salle de douche. Le petit moins , les voyants de la clim qui ne peuvent pas s'éteindre. On y a apposé des petits caches pour dormir.

Ascenseur incertain... va t il se bloquer entre 2 etages ?
Cle de porte de chambre défectueuse :difficile de l insérer ou de l ôter de la serrure (il faut tirer des 2 mains et maintenir la porte avec le pied !!!).
Climatisation impossible a regler , il faut faire venir le receptionniste.
La television marche par intermittence, avec un \"no signal\" pendant 1 heure le soir de 10h à 11h.
Pas de possiblite de joindre la reception par téléphone, il faut descendre les 3 étages à pied.
Et surtout pour couronner le tout , un directeur absolument odieux , irrespectueux , sarcastique , agressif , méprisant ,quand on lui explique poliment les difficultés rencontrées .
Il se nomme Mr Nicolas Gesta .
Il ne reconnait aucun des dysfonctionnements de l hôtel, et dit que le client est de mauvaise foi.Il n est pas désolé du tout, pour tous ces désagréments .
C est une honte d avoir à faire à un pareil individu .
Pour environ 150 euros la nuitée, j ai passé une tres mauvaise journée après ces insultes et ce mépris.
Ah oui ... 13 euros de parking non comptés en compensation... sincèrement j aurai préféré les payer et etre traitée avec politesse et respect .
Voilà à quoi le souvenir de La Rochelle est associé !
Les autres membres du personnel sont competents et aimables , particulièrement le receptionniste du matin de mon départ, il devrait devenir directeur , à la place de Mr Nicolas Gesta.
L hôtel est bien trop cher pour son etat vetuste ,sans parler de Nicolas Gesta !
