Nice hostel to stay, it is located by the Potato wharf and close to many must visit places in the city such as the Science Museum and the People’s history Museum. Close to Deansgate train station. Good environment, clean beds, good value for money overall.

Maybe you're into hostelling, realistically for the price per night you're better off staying in a proper hotel instead of a prison cell.
No TV's in private room, accessible rooms are in a dormitory with others sharing, private rooms are literally a box, with a terrible mattress fit for nobody, literally inches thick, both me and my partner woke up in pain, what was meant to be a few nice nights away turned into back ache and leaving earlier on our planned trip.
Had attitude from staff for asking for an extra pillow for my partner due to him having bad back and neck, was treated awful at check in too, staff were iattentive and rude.
Honestly for the price you pay there is better options out there.

The lift is always out of order. The vibe is nice. The bed is a bit tight. Near to Deansgate. I suggest the hostel to put on a notice board more information about the area eg suggestions as to where to go, where to take the free bus etc

Great place, good room, although it is close to two main train lines and tram routes, but we were so tired after a busy day we fell straight to sleep - Room was very warm as it is June and there are signs asking guests to leave the windows open for ventilation (Which I suspect are from Covid days and not to keep you cool); We left one window open as the noise from outside would have been too much otherwise.
Mattresses are basic, but comfortable - Bedding is provided, as are clothes hangers, an electric free standing fan (Too noisy to leave on whilst asleep) toilet roll and hand soap.
We had the Continental Breakfast for £6 PP - Bargain and worth the price! :)

1st timers staying at a hostel in a city. Booked 6 people over 2 rooms.Free parking was brilliant. Lovely modern clean hostel with bar and cafe. We had an ensuite room which was great. Not being used to YHA we didnt bring things we needed but it was only a one night stay. Breakfast was a £10 said unlimited but was not a buffet had to wait a while and not all food items available so disappointed. On the whole good value clean stay. The receptionist on saturday afternoon was very helpful whilst we encounted a few issues at check in.

This hostel has good common areas. However the bathroom in my 4 person dorm is too small. A shower wet whole area . Toilet squeezed in with a tiny sink. Everything got wet and nowhere to put anything.

My stay at YHA Manchester was very straightforward. It's clean. It's comfortable. A very homey place in a relativley unsafe-feeling city. I did have a few problems though. The property restricts Wifi usage to the first floor lobby, and doesn't allow for whats app calls. Quite annoying if you want to stay in contact with friends and family. Additionally, there was no floor fan or cieling fan in my room. It was very hot, and in each room ventilation comes only from the window. I was on the top bunk meaning I got trapped with all the heat, and it was very uncomfortable and I woke up each morning almost completely drenched in sweat.

Amazing value for such a nice hostel. We only paid around £40 for a 5 bed room. Nice room with view of the canal (and a goose sitting on her nest!). Bathrooms are a bit cramped and a little inconvenient. They're kind of a wetroom with the shower not being enclosed. It makes sense to save space but it did mean that we had to put shoes on to use the bathroom after anyone showered. Free parking was very useful. Staff were friendly and mostly helpful but some didn't know when check in/out times were. A little disappointed to find out there are no longer laundry facilities at the hostel but pleased to learn check in is now at 3pm not 5pm.
Overall great value and still walkable into town. We walked to the O2 Ritz for a show and only took about 15 minutes. Lots of bars in that area too so they're also walkable.

I just needed a place to stay as I had an early flight out of Manchester airport the next day. Check-in was easy... everyone was friendly. Was within walking distance to the centre of town. Free parking was a bonus!

Great hostel in a perfect location in central Manchester. I'm impressed with YHA hostel standards in the UK, including the Manchester YHA. Rooms are comfortable, USB plugs, reading light and small shelf for every bunk. Facility is clean, security good, and nice vibe in the lobby pub.

I stayed at yha manchester for one night; as always, when it comes to hostels, yha always delivers and is a straight forward choice. The only down side is that my friend who was also staying at the yha, in another room, had a hard time with this other roomate, who was behaving very poorly ie smocking in the room, and being intimating to my friend, so he checked out at 2am, and ended up sleeping in the car, as the yha did not have any spare rooms. I don't think that this is good enough, and its not a good way to deal with an issue, as thankfully he had a car to sleep in, but if that hadn't been the case, he would've had to sleep on the street or otherwise. I'm not happy with Yha's response to his difficult situation, absolutely I think that yha should always have one spare bed, in case an emergency happens, and not be greedy.

Rooms are very small and stiflingly hot. The heat in the rooms is a health and safety issue as the window only opens a tiny bit and there’s no aircon or fans on site. There is a strict no noise policy which is policed! If you’re booking this for a trip with your friends then this probably isn’t the place for you.

Went on Easter weekend so prices were higher. This is the first time I stayed in a hostel and it wasn't too bad. Bathroom is extremely small but the lobby area is nice and comforting(which is where I spent most of my time).

very noisy into the late hours with many people coming and going. People speaking in the corridors, constantly doors closing with a bang due to access cards and spring loaded doors, creaking bunger beds. Too warm as well for mid October, so summer would be unbearable as opening the window would make the noise from the trains way too loud.
Generally clean, but the self catering kitchen was filthy - but did get cleaned by later in the night. only managed a few hours of sleep during which was woken up many times, so would avoid this unless you are with a group and its cheaper than other hostels!!
