Worst say in any hotel

This hotel is well below its rating room very modern if you get a new room!
But if you get a Newley refurbished room your in for a treat showers done work and rooms are hotter that the sun, shower head has about 3drips and you can’t ever get even warm I wouldn’t stay at this hotel again if they said it was free!!!!!!! Simply terrible

Character hotel, needs a bit of tlc

Mix up on a couple of rooms but we sorted that ourselves. Wife and I were in the "suite" which is obviously on the top floor. Bed was comfortable, bathroom and toilet were separate and not really suitable for tall people due to the roof sloping. We were only in for one night so no real issues but upstairs could do with some tlc

Motorbike trip

Nice affordable room for a quick overnight stop on a road trip.

Didnt feel that welcome on arrival if i am honest. I accidently walked into the restaurant which was empty in all my bike gear as the external door was open. I was abruptly told i shouldnt walk through there and should go around the carpark. Maybe dont leave the door open then or put a sign up.

Spent quite a lot of money on beer in the hotel bar. The woman serving in the bar was great and really friendly.

Managed to park my bike and chain it to a railing. Lots of vans in the carpark which helped keep it from view.

I would stay again but wont walk through the restaurant to save getting moaned at.

Basin did not drain properly
No hairdryer in room, did ask but nothing happened!!
Had to wait 20mins for a table at breakfast, she did serve me in the end in the bar yesterday.
Today I sat with someone on their table.
No one on the reception did ring the bell, but nobody came.
I do not recommend this hotel even if the staff were very polite

Could do with updating if the rooms

The hotel was clean enough it just needs a little updating, the bathrooms look like something from the 1970’s, but it was reasonably inexpensive so you get what you pay for. The bar and the terrace were comfortable and pleasant enough.

Likes: the breakfast was fabulous - even though it was over Christmas; the staff were extremely helpful, especially on Boxing Day.
Dislikes: the bedroom blinds were broken, the pillows were insufficient and the filling was coming out of the end of the pillowcase; there was another in the wardrobe but it was in the same condition (bring your own pillow!). The shower tray filled up with water before the water temp was warm enough, so much so that I was afraid the tray was going to overflow. Also, I could hear everything that was going on in the next room (not pleasant).

Great that we were able to check in early which was really appreciated, staff were friendly & welcoming.

Room 33 is at the top of the building & is a large room with plenty of storage but just a small window which wasn’t a problem. The bathroom is a decent size but it’s virtually impossible to use the bath & hand shower due to the very low sloping ceiling, I found it really difficult & I’m only 5’ 4”

We stayed for breakfast, staff were lovely, breakfast (mushrooms & egg on toast) was ok but we felt the mushrooms could’ve been cooked for longer & seasoned but it was ok.

Not an expensive place to stay, staff are friendly & it was convenient 😊

You do not allocate a room with an old bed and mattress in it. I was unable to sleep as every time went to turn over a spring would dig into me and wake me up. Every move left the mattress groaning as whatever padding was originally in there was now almost non existent. Whoever owns this hotel should put their hand in their pocket and buy a new mattress and vase, they are not expensive.

Staff were helpful. The downstairs public areas are good and welcoming. The accommodation however is pretty sad and needs a lot of attention.
It was so depressing that I actually stayed on a friends sofa for the second night instead.
I never leave negative reviews. So be warned.

Dirty walls, rattling doors, uncomfortable

No parking was available on site, had to pay to park in nearby carpark, hotel offered no compensation for this.
The room was very dated with dirty marks on the walls, the mattress on the bed was very uncomfortable, could feel the springs and it was so noisy when you moved. Tv remote didnt work the tv, the shower was next to useless water trickled out and if you turned the head upside down the water didnt even spray out. The door to the room rattled and banged wherever some one els opened the door to there room which was annoying. Luckily i only stayed for one night and had to leave early for work definitely wont be recommending.

Large bar area which was very useful for several friends to join me for coffee. Comfortable restaurant with wide menu choice and excellent food. Attractive seating area in the bar around large circular tables in the bay windows, however the cusioned seating is badly split with stuffing coming out. This is unsightly and unpleasant to sit on these.

Very very Disappointing

We had a family room booked and was not warned that it would mean climbing four flights of stairs to get to the second floor. We had an 86yr old with us and weren't even offered help with bags. The person who checked us in couldn't give a damn. When we got to the room it was disgusting. The carpets were frayed, the walls had marks, there were only two tea cups and they were dirty. There was no soap in the toilet and the whole hotel was boiling hot. There was bugs everywhere and all the windows were dirty. We were in the attic space and the bathroom had no windows and no working extractor fan. We only stayed one night so as soon as we woke up, we left.

Dirty towels left in the bathroom when I arrived, heating didn’t work because they only turn it on during winter even though it was cold and raining outside. kettle didn’t work, bed was uncomfortable. I booked two nights stay but left after the first night. i work in St Neots which is two stops away but I’d rather head back to London stay in my own bed and risk the long journey in the morning then stay here that is nearer to my place of work.

The pub below the hotel was lovely. Staff were very accommodating and there were lovely food and drink options.

The room however was quite disappointing. Marks on bedding and dirty facilities made for quite a surprise to an otherwise quaint little pub.

Serious upgrades to showers is needed, at the time of writing, the options are scolding hot or freezing cold!

The ‘Kingsize’ bed is fit for a jester. Off kilter and uncomfortable with pillows would be mistaken for paper are also an area for an upgrade.

Redeeming factor being the staff were prompt and able to help at the drop of a hat for the needs of our one night stay.

The staff are very friendly and helpful, the breakfast was very good, and the bar and reception area are well kept.
However the rooms are needing renovations! Bathroom was grubby and old. Showers need replacing, along with toilet, carpets in room.
The bedroom looked like it had been updated, nice wallpaper, bed was ok, however pillows were awful, very thin and cheap.
Room was very hot, even with window fully open all night.

I’m under no illusions that’s this is a budget pub hotel but my room and the hotel aspect of this venue were gross. The room specifically had stained curtains, dirty walls and fixtures and I think there was even bbq sauce on the wall by the bin. The toilet was not cleaned and the floors had crumbs and debris on it.
The bed was comfy but one of the pillows didn’t have a cover so you could see the discolouration and stains of time and use - in short I didn’t sleep well for feeling the entire environment was just dirty.

Room 5, a little small & the bed wasn't the most comfortable I've slept in. Staff are brilliant - helpful & friendly.
Menu isnt very big so as a mildly fussy eater there was only 1 option for my meal ( my fault for being fussy ) however the menu changes fairly regularly.
All in all it wasnt too bad & I would stay there again

This property is a typical pub room but needs a really good deep clean. The ceiling of the bathroom was pretty mouldy. The beds are also not the most comfortable. But we had one nights sleep and a nice dinner in the pub.

I wasn’t paying for a 5 star room or other facilities but I do expect a warm room with working radiators I know it’s May but on the 21st May it rained all day the temperature had dropped a good bit so let’s have the choice warm or stay cold, the shower was very very poor the cubicle was so small that it was difficult to move in it the shower was just very poor
For gods sake just invest in the plumbing for your benefit as well as the paying customer

Rooms were dated and in need of upgrade. Even just a new mattress and pillows would be good! I stayed on a Saturday night and was street facing, being an old building you can hear a lot of noise from outside.
The breakfast was fantastic, and service in the morning was good. This was the main reason for the rating.

Not the best...

Cost to stay was extremely reasonable in comparison to others in the area however, this came at a cost. The TV didn't work, the cold tap wouldn't work in the morning, the bed was extremely uncomfortable (had the floor been cleaner, sleeping there may have been an option).
As stated, very cheap but you would expect the basics of working facilities within the room and cleanliness none the less.

Staff friendly check in simple & efficient. Room is clean very simple but very warm. Window had double glazing which cut out the traffic noise but down side could not open window to let in any fresh air. We had to use the provided electric fan to attempt to sleep. Restaurant menu not to our taste and not cheap. We found excellent alternative eateries in town only a short walk away. Breakfast would benefit from a simple non cooked option (cereals toast croissants etc) but blueberry pancakes with bacon and maple syrup were very good. We were in the front in the old part of the building. Maybe other rooms would have been better but as the hotel was fully booked there was no chance of testing that theory. Thee star rating is maintained.

Nice hotel, could do with more cleaners.

The hotel itself is lovely, a bit dated but to me thats not a problem.

Last time I stayed, all was well, but this time, a few little niggles.

No soap in the bath or shower, and behind the bed hadn't been cleaned or dusted for quite a while.

I had to leave early, so didn't have time to raise this at the time. Im sure its just a one off, and I'd be happy to stay again.
