I was arriving early in the morning and so my check-in time is 3 PM. I was very disappointed to hear that I had to pay FD fee to get into my room before check-in time even though the room was ready and available. Left a really bad taste in my mouth. I will not recommend this hotel for that reason

Paul at the front desk checked us in and he was very kind in getting us in a room after our long journey to London!

We also had an issue where I plugged an iron in to the wrong outlet and it killed the electric in the room. They use WhatsApp as a method of communication. Within minutes of me texting...someone was at our door and reset the power.

Only stayed for 1 night and all requirements were available. Had been to the theatre earlier and when checked in found that we had a kitchen and cutlery as well as a dishwasher, so also able to cook for ourselves with close by amenities too purchase any requirements

We had a good stay. Very convenient to the tube station and in the middle of everything. Very polite and helpful staff. Room was a little small for three girls with our huge suitcases, but that’s to be expected of a hotel in a major city. Good stay and fair price.

This hotel is wonderfully located and clean, with very friendly and welcoming staff.

The restaurant ran low on food twice during my stay, once for breakfast and once for dinner, so this is an area for improvement. However, you are in close walking distance to fantastic dining experiences including Sista Barista for breakfast, Cotto for dinner and you are also minutes from Lower Marsh Street. I will definitely stay here again.

Great location for visiting London! Very walkable to Westminster and close to the London Eye. Several pubs, restaurants, and shops nearby. Surprisingly quiet on the upper floors despite being right next to the train tracks.

Check in/out was incredibly quick and easy using the electronic kiosk and the staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean with central AC and it was nice to have double beds and a fold out chair to accommodate separate beds for 3 people. Kitchenette was a great plus!

Space was a little small but understandable given the area. Bathroom was clean, but the shower didn’t have a door and it was easy for water to overflow and spill on the floor. Overall, it was an excellent stay and worth it for the money spent.

Nice clean hotel in a very convenient location. There are 2-3 supermarkets within metres; nice cafe; post office, chicken and sandwich shops closeby; eat street 50m away. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. There is a guest laundry in the basement which was a godsend after being 5 weeks abroad. Tube station not far away. The only downside was the gym is extremely small with little equipment. Cleaning is done every second day, if you require daily there is a charge.

Excellent location with large comfortable room. One minute from the nearest tube station, 5 minute walk to Big Ben, and Sainsburys and Pret right next door made for a very easy trip. Staff were super friendly and helpful as well. Very reasonable rate for late checkout which was amazing before an evening long haul flight.

The gentleman at the reception desk with a French accent helped us a lot with the check-in process, since we had 10 family members, over 10 big to small luggage, and 3 room reservations over 2 days. He is friendly and professional in sharing all the information we need. The only disappointment was that the hotel management closed the B1 public meeting room after 8 p.m., so I had to sit at the lobby table for 2 hours to meet my team in California. Two Merlin Waterloo staff members that night were not that friendly and helpful during that critical time.

Excellent 7 night stay at this hotel. Rooms were clean, comfortable and quiet. The amenities, including a self laundry were just what we needed. The location, across the street from the nearest Tube station was ideal, as well as its overal lproximity to major attractions in London. Overall an excellent place to spend your days and nights in London. We will return.

This property was just okay. The rooms are just basic. The location itself was in good proximity to Big Ben, Westminster Abby and the London Eye to be sure. However, the hotel views are of the train tracks right behind you and if you open your window for fresh air it can be quite noisy. For me, when I arrived my toilet seat was something I had to reattach myself. The shower does allow water to go out in to the bathroom. The bed was not comfortable. It was like sleeping on a box spring mattress. They change linens every four days. There is no clock, no phone and no bottled water in the rooms. They encourage you to bring your own water bottle to the hotel to get filtered water from the floor where the gym is. So if you don't travel with a water bottle there is no container you can go get water with. I can't speak to the breakfast because we didn't try it. The lobby is fairly modern. You do self check-in and self check-out. You have limited contact with staff. For me, the hotel was just okay. It was almost $5000.00 CDN for two rooms for 6 days, so for me, I think for the price there are other hotels that would be better in the area.

Luggage storage on arrival was so convenient! All of the Marlin Waterloo staff that we had the pleasure of meeting were helpful and friendly. The location is near every form of public transportation. I also enjoyed walking to excellent restaurants, historic sites, theaters and the Borough food market. Our hotel room was clean with a comfortable bed and amenities including conditioner (much appreciated for my long hair). We’ll definitely book early and stay at the Marlin Waterloo again. Thanks for an overall outstanding experience on our first visit to London!

Upon entering the hotel there was no one to greet me. Its a self checkin which i didn't like. A staff member was around and he did help with the process as I was struggling. Checkout is the same concept. The hotel always smelled good. The gym was adequate but the weight machine was missing some keys which limited the ability to function. It was always empty. Breakfast at the hotel was a bit limited but it filled its purpose. I didn't see many outside options for breakfast. The is a supermarket across the street which was very inexpensive and a souvenir/ grocery store on the same street as the hotel. Also next to the hotel is a chicken place that offers grilled and fried chicken at a very good price and the food was good. The hotel is within a short walking distance of Big Ben, the Eye in the Sky, The Aquarium and its promenade and the Big Bus Tour. Staff were very friendly and polite. Bed was comfortable as well as the pillows. In room safe and closet was spacious with adequate space for luggage , refrigerator and coffee machines. My room faced the main street so you did hear some noise from people outside at night. Overall I was satisfied as it served its purpose.

This hotel is conveniently located in a walkable area, just a short distance from the iconic Big Ben and the underground station. Surprisingly, the room is spacious enough to accommodate even two large suitcases. We opted for the premium room with a king-size bed, which provided ample comfort during our stay.

We stayed for 6 nights and did not have any house cleaning, change of linens or towels once. We had to ask for dry towels and they brought unfolded and didn't pick up the wet ones.

Our bed was supposed to be a Queen, but it was two twin mattresses fastened together, the sheets were not fitted.

Breakfast was NOT included, despite the Expedia listing implying it was, it was an extra 15£ per morning (although this may have been an Expedia issue and not the hotel's fault, it did affect our stay).

The only positive was proximity to the tube.

Found a bedbug in our room on 5th day of our stay. My wife and I were very upset but the hotel general manager was only interested making excuses rather than comforting us. She also implied that we brought the bedbugs with us. We weren't offered another room as we might spread them but we were welcome to move to another hotel, they told us. This was quite late at night and we wanted our clothes washed before packing so we had to stay that night after getting the bed vacuumed. We were so distraught and disappointed that we decided to pack up and come back home. I highly doubt we will ever go back to London again. We had such a high expectation for this trip. They have only refunded for the nights we have not stayed and pointed out that it was a non-refundable booking as if leaving early was our fault. Unbelievable.

The biggest thing that lets the hotel down is the cleaning. There were so many hairs on the floor of the bathroom. In fact one was stuck to the ceiling!

When leaving the two cleaning staff were just stood in the corridor on their phones.

Can’t comment on breakfast but the dinner was terrible, pizza, pasta etc. It felt like it had just been heated in the microwave. Small portions and not worth the money. The rooms are big, comfortable beds, even the sofa bed was great and separate kitchen area, all very clean and the shower was amazing. Would definitely stay here again, 3 minutes walk from both Lambeth North and Waterloo tube stations. 20 minutes walk from Trafalgar Square. Lots of eating places close by. Tokyo Bagel particularly nice. There is a Sainsbury’s right beside the hotel aswell.

Family room was rather small, but it is Central London, and price was reasonable for the location, so fair enough. Room was hot and a/c didn't seem to work, but overall hotel was fine, and the location in relation to South Bank, Waterloo, London Eye was fantastic. Managed to find a decent local parking for 24 hrs too, so would use this again. Didn't have breakfast myself, but family who did were pretty underwhelmed.

Good location for exploring the London. Big Ben was 15min away by walking from the hotel. Also the Thames river is in walking distance as well. Buses and Tubes are close to the hotel so we took tubes to go many attractions in London. Hotel was very nice and clean. Hotel staff was friendly and very nice. Convenient stores and cafes are close by. I would recommend this place and I would stay here again.

This is very much only a budget hotel. The rooms are older and linens and towels were worn. The walls are extremely thin and you do hear all the noises in the rooms surrounding you as well as in the hallways. For my trip specifically, there was constant noise even in the 3am hours.

The bathrooms only have half doors to the showers which causes water to splash everywhere and so you have to put down 2-3 towels and just be prepared for a constantly damp bathroom.

we stayed at the Marling because of is location easy access to public transportation the area is great restaurants and pubs close by 10 mints walking distance to the parliament to Big ben Westminster Aby cathedral and about 30 mnts to Buckingham palace and 5 mnts to the tube with conations to Chinatown Covent Garden Piccadilly lines Green park station for the Buckingham Palace the tube is easy to get around I give Google map 100% for directions on the public transport. the Staff is magnificent always willing to help and make your stay more enjoyable. we highly recommend it

Our room was overbooked and this caused a few problems. However after some wrangling a negotiations we came to an agreement. We took a smaller room for one night and moved the next day. In return they comped our breakfasts for all three days. Great location and perfect for accessing so much of what London has to offer.

WiFi barely worked and only at odd hours. The bed was horrific. Two hard twin mattresses pushed together to make a queen sized bed. The seam of the two mattresses was extremely uncomfortable. I asked for a topper twice from
staff and was assured both times they’d handle that. They didn’t. I ended up having to spend several hundred pounds on massages throughout me stay to help with the back pain. Really! The towels were scratchy and the room was barely clean. Would not recommend staying here other than the location being central to much of what London has to offer. The 24-hour market next door is also very useful.
