This is my second or third stay at this hotel, and unfortunately I’ve experienced repeated issues with the rooms, particularly the showers. On previous stays, I had to change rooms multiple times due to either no hot water or electricity outages.

On this visit, the shower handle and overhead shower had very little water pressure, making them unusable. I ended up having to shower using the tap. By that point, I didn’t have the energy to go back to reception to request another room change.

I was also disappointed with the customer service on this occasion, which was noticeably below the standard I’ve experienced here before. When I approached the reception desk for assistance, two staff members were focused on discussing a non-urgent handover task (tea & coffee should be set at front next time for breakfast) while I was left waiting. Later, when I asked if there was an umbrella I could borrow, the response was dismissive and impolite. I was told I could either take a broken one or not use one at all.

This experience was quite shocking, as the staff have usually been great during my previous stays. I hope the hotel can address both the maintenance issues and customer service standards going forward.

Another great stay here with family and dog on New Years Eve for a family event, but in the Coach House this time instead of the main House.
A modern building inside, but without the charm and quirks of the older main house. Not a drawback, as the room had everything needed for a short stay. Also hotel had a New Year function, so we weren't affected by any late night revelry.
A comfortable clean room with excellent en-suite.
Excellent good quality breakfast, both continental and full English, with helpful staff, followed by a New Years Day dogwalk in the nearby park.
Hotel extended departure to 12 o'clock for all guests. Good call!

Probably the worst pillows and bed in existence. For a ‘signature collection’ the quality used is terrible. Overall interior was drab.

The property is lovley, though far from anything in Birmingham. About a 40 mins uber ride. The rooms also smelt a little musty, as did the blankets. Front reception manager was absolutely lovely, as were all the staff we encountered. If you want wuiet and away from everything, definitely recommend.

Another great stay at what is fast becoming my favourite hotel in Birmingham. In all honesty, there was an issue with our room when we checked in, no fault of the hotel, but the lovely Marius moved us instantly without quibble to a lovely room. Nothing was too much trouble and we had a lovely stay. We will be back again next year 😍

The main building was stunning. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Room was clean and bed was very comfortable. Only thing was we had assumed our room would be in the main house but we were in a modern room in a separate building. You can request a room in the main house but there are only 6 double bedrooms. Gardens are lovely.Overall would recommend highly 😊

The food at dinner was excellent. Cooked to order using quality ingredients, and a very good choice on the menu.

My only gripe is someone put 2 beers on my bill. Maybe my fault as said my room number out loud, but maybe the bar staff should have known it was a different person. If the dishonest person who did it reads this then I got it refunded so the hotel lost out, not me.

Lovely room, but smaller than I expected. Woke up the first morning to find the windowsill covered in water due to condensation (we didn’t have radiator on). Second night, we left window open a little bit for air but windows still soaking so clearly a ventilation issue in the building (brew house). Also, walls are paper thin. Could hear everything next door was saying even though they weren’t being overly loud, just having a conversation. People upstairs were just walking around as normal but it sounded like a herd of elephants. Nice decor and amenities, homely feel but lack of sleep due to noise. Great restaurant - breakfast both mornings was amazing and we had dinner one evening which was soooo nice! So not all bad but could’ve been better for such a high end building.

The original room I was put in was depressingly out of date . Old furniture dark and freezing cold as no heating had been put on . It appeared the only room in a dank dark service area at the back of the hotel of the hotel. Went for dinner which’s in what could have been a glorious room . Again it was cold . Waiter was sweet but incompetent and didn’t listen or read order back and i ended up with two meals . I made a mistake at the top of the coach house stairs and turned ring way to the new room I was given, and opened the room of another guest with my key card . Just one night at this hotel but it was a pleasant experience. A slight hiccup that the sofa bed in our family room had not been made up for our teenage daughter, however upon flagging with Reception they moved us to a room that had a separate twin bedroom within it so our teenage daughter was pleased to have a bit of private space but safe within the confines of our main room. We stayed in the Coach House which was undergoing refurbishment but our room was freshly done, there was a bit of mess on the dressing table left behind by someone replacing a plug socket but no big deal. Good sized main bedroom and clean bathroom. Lovely period features throughout the hotel and our room was dog friendly as well. An extra star would have been given for some doggie facilities ie. bowl, blanket, dog treats in the room (although we were given some at breakfast). Nice grounds to walk the dog including a safe off lead space and a pleasant area to have breakfast with the dog. Staff were all super friendly and helpful. We would stay again.

Our 2nd stay at this hotel, having also attended functions here. The rooms are individual and vary in size and layout, which is to be expected in a Grade 1 listed building. The change from individually cooked to buffet breakfast is a welcome one, and continental choice is good.
Staff are polite, helpful and efficient.
2 points with the room were one of the bedside lights wasn't working, and the towel rail didn't appear to work, which we reported to reception. Neither of these detracted from a pleasant stay, but perhaps a bit of attention to detail when checking rooms are ready.

Hotel was as pictured, however accessibility was a major issue. The elevator was broken, and unbeknownst to us the room we had booked was at the top of the facility up multiple tight staircases. Additionally, the doors were oddly shaped & fitted making them hard to open and traverse. Finally, the bathroom had a huge step down in the middle of it and very slippery floors. Given that I was traveling with my older parents, these items would have been good to know in advance so we could have adjusted our reservations accordingly.

The hotel looks wonderful on the outside with lovely grounds.
Our room was in the Coach House, we paid a bit extra for a Superior room.
On first impression the room was well decorated & the bathroom was clean and modern, but it soon became clear it was lacking in some basics. There were no lamps (only overhead lights) the only mirror was over the sink in the bathroom and there was no mini fridge in the room. We were there as a stopover for a business trip

Absolute joke of a hotel, beware

Absolute disaster this place is.
Firstly there are a few \"renevated\" rooms and the rest that are in need of renovation, sadly mine was the latter.
Rooms are split over different buildings, the one I sadly stayed in was connected to a function room. This had one of the two weddings at the venue that evening. Parking was non existent.
The next issue was the disco that went on until midnight, getting louder with more people singing to the likes of wonder wall and I've had the time of my life, sadly with a few drinks, the tunes were very much out of tune. As midnight arrived, boos from the audience as the music stopped, however just 30 mins later fireworks were being set off and 15 mins after that it was time for the bar staff to empty all the bottles into the bins outside the room window.
Sadly the manager was not available at 8am, so a message was left and a promised call back later interest morning. No call, so I chased this up and spoke with \"Marios\" who explained he was sorry it wasn't up to my expectations and that it is in their terms and conditions about noise at the weekend (I can't find it), so basically my issue, he wanted to refund 50 percent of the room, frankly at the price I paid £190 and the fact he was refunding in reality 30 percent after fees, I rejected this and will follow my issue up with hotels.com.
Sadly Best Westerns used to be a decent brand, most need renovation, but if you want a quiet stay, run, don't walk.....to an alternative hotel.

Whilst the room has been recently renovated, it clearly hasn’t been checked afterwards. Very small room, shower tiny and the poorly positioned shower head means you hit the cubicle when showering. When I wanted to check out nobody was on reception and nobody answered the phone for the number displayed.

Nice hotel. Bit tired in places but adds to the character of this period building. Everything was immaculate in the bedroom. We stayed in a family room with a large dog, it was very spacious. The hotel is in nice grounds, again a bit tired looking but lovely to sit in when weather is nice. Breakfast was lovely, service great and staff very friendly and helpful. If taking a dog, the nature trail next door is a lovely walk. Lovely cafe in the gardens that caters for dogs too.

We loved the drive into the property, easy to park and a short walk to reception, all the staff we met were polite and helpful, they even provided numbers for local taxis. The room we had offered loads of space and was of a high standard.
If ever we were to return to Birmingham this hotel would be on the top of my list...

A fabulous building, sympathetically converted to a hotel, it’s listed so that no doubt brings challenges. Our rooms were lovely but one of us had a loo that didn’t flush, maintenance did come out but couldn’t fix over night. Other than that great stay will use again.

Liked the uniqueness of the property. The staff was amazing and they have a nice bar and restaurant that serves excellent food.
It was very hot weather during our stay and the front desk was so accommodating in helping us have a cooler room.
The grounds are inviting and there was enough to do meandering around the garden finding nice places in the shade.

Yup it is a castle! The experience to sleep in a castle is something I wanted to experience but ate 4 days of same breakfast menu. So perhaps an overnight or 2 days stay is good enough. Some hotel staff were accommodating especially the guys but one hotel staff lady on the Friday morning was unpleasant when I asked for where the breakfast is, instead of simply pointing where, she said that I could hear and smell it... ok? It was also the same lady whom I called for room service about shower water, took almost one hour, called again and she asked if they didn't come yet and that she'll follow up.. 30mins later, I had to go down only to see an irritated expression and heard a \"tsk\" coz she said she'll just look at it herself.. luckily, a hotel staff guy offered to check it instead and got fixed. Thankfully, we didn't encounter the same lady until our check-out on Monday. Please give that staff lady some vacation, she looked like she had enough of questions from new comers early in the morning. The hotel itself is clean and luxurious, we just didn't appreciate the stairs to go up to the 3rd floor (the slow lift only goes up to the 2nd floor). Our family room was spacious, bed is comfy, we didn't bother turning on the aircon if there is since the screenless window was left open. A huge fly kept visiting us inside. No microwave/fridge. Overall stay felt elegant but some cons will unlikely make me stay here again. Recommended for an overnight stay because of the place.

Only given a average rating poor night sleep due to the toilet fan running all the time the room was clean but what has annoyed me more than anything was the fact when we arrived we were asked for the card to be swiped in case we had any drink or food what we had not noticed was that a pound had been added I accept this is irrelevant but there is no reason why we were charged that amount has we had neither food or drinks plus when we have checked the bill it shows the incorrect price and it states that it was booked with Expedia not Hotels

Needs a makeover.

Castle Bromwich Hall is a very impressive building and has masses of potential but it needs an injection of money to bring the inside up to date. The reception looked like a prison desk with all the CCTV screens! Not very inviting as a first impression.My room was fine but very cold as I could not get either radiator or electric heater to work and no spare blankets in the room. Breakfast was fine and staff friendly. Would love to see this place have a good makeover.

The family room was huge and comfortable. Service at breakfast was very attentive. I would recommend it for an overnight stay as long as you can climb the stairs (which you are prewarned about when booking).
We had chosen it for the experience of staying in a period property, and it didn't quite meet that expectation. Although the building is nice, the bright signage and adverts, along with instructions like \"no drugs\" as soon as you enter, changed the atmosphere and identity.
