Nothing wrong with the accommodation, it was fine and a nice location, but the food in the restaurant was a shocker, and when asked by a staff member how the food was, both my daughter and i advised it was tepid and poor, to which she replied sorry and took our plates away. Eat out if you stay here would be my advice.

The hotel as I’m sure it’s the same for most hotels in Birmingham is parking. The closest car park was10/15 mins away. £25 for 24hr. There was a cheaper alternative but seemed further away. Birmingham city centre is in constant construction that last a decade so heads up if you’re driving there. The room alwarm went off twice in the morning.

Room was clean. A little small for 3 people but we made do as 1 night. Could have done with another chair or 2 - there was just one at the desk. Parking is nearby 5-8min walk. Would be good if hotel provided clear directions for walking from the car park to the hotel.

I booked a 2 night stay. The first night was extremely terrible and was ruined as I was put in an interconnecting room with strangers. This is unacceptable as there's no soundproofing between the interconnecting doors, so I could hear the next door guest's talking, laughing, TV/ devices, and even rustling of paper. They were not being particularly loud (except the odd blaring of media / laughing) but the noise meant I could not sleep. They left the room around 12am and came back around 3am (which woke me up). I called reception to ask for 1) another room the next day, and 2) help with telling them to quieten down, but she was really unattentive and said that \"if they were coming in at 3am in the morning they would be sleeping soon, and the hotel was fully booked so no spare rooms\". I explained to her they were still up at 3.30am, so then she sent Security to knock on their door but to no avail. After half an hour, I had to knock on the interconnecting door for them to stop talking and doing whatever they were doing on their device and go to sleep. I felt extremely disappointed with this receptionist's attitude, being put in an interconnecting room, and had the worst night in all my hotel stays. Strangers should not be put in interconnecting rooms - it's disrespectful to guests. The next day, I went down to reception to ask again for another room, and thankfully a different receptionist was helpful and put me in a new room.

Room was nice, clean, and large, but the service was disappointing. The corridors were noisy past midnight and with takeaway food trays in the morning (930am) so floors clearly hadn't been checked. We were also surprised the bar closed at midnight on a Saturday. Staff refused to honor our Expedia \"22% off\" discount for breakfast but neither reception or dining at the lunch advised us of us and breakfast service made me uncomfortable, I was asked for payment while making tea rather than waiting until I was seated.

We had a fantastic time at Clayton Hotel Birmingham - my mum wouldn’t stop talking about it for weeks after the trip.

Hisham was very friendly and efficient. When checking in, I asked him if we could be allocated a room with a fridge as we had food. He recognised us from previous stays, and upgraded us to a larger, luxurious suite.

The breakfast was also lovely. It was clean and well maintained. A member of staff (I believe the manager) also checked to see if we were okay, which we appreciated.

Overall, a fantastic stay and looking forward to visiting again in the coming weeks.

Modern and contemporary. Room was very clean. Service in the restaurant was great. The young receptionist who checked me out: terrible. No greeting. I gave a greeting. Didn’t get one in return. I gave her my key card and asked for a copy of the Invoice. She didn’t say anything. A simple ‘yes’ would have been enough. Instead she said nothing. Printed it out and handed it to me. She didn’t say thank you or goodbye. She didn’t speak for the entire interaction. Shocking. Other than that it was great. I wish I had personally given her some feedback. entire interaction. Terrible.

Haven't stayed in a hotel before where you could so clearly hear every word the people next door were saying. I think our room had an adjoining door and the guests next to us were awake all night talking and seemed to moving things around which was rattling the door constantly waking us up and making us feel uncomfortable. I understand people are free to do whatever they want in hotels it's more than it felt like they normally use had any privacy.

Comfortable bed, quiet hotel so had a good night’s sleep - the most important thing in a hotel stay. The hotel was close to the train station, shopping and the University. It was a perfect place to stay. Note there is ongoing construction next to the hotel, but we could not hear it in our room.

This was my second stay at the Clayton. I was very apprehensive about staying again, but unfortunately we had a busy few days at BWC Hospital and were limited.

The rooms are comfortable and finished to a lovely standard, however looking tired in some places.
The tv channels were hit and miss with poor reception. I appreciated the inroom water and the electric fan which was needed due to no inroom AC.

The double bed wasn't the most comfortable due to springs bouncing out from the side and across the edges.

The offer a child bed rail would have been great, considering it's a family room these things should be thought about.

Breakfast was a let down again. The cooked breakfast options were not great. The mushrooms where overly seasoned, very salty and almost inedible. The black pudding was extremely overcooked and dry and once again the bacon was chewy.
I didn’t have breakfast on the last day of our stay because it was very off putting.

The entrance to the hotel was only accessible via going around the outside which wasn't very well sign posted. The outside wall on the street of the hotel had a very strong and unpleasant smell of urine, which seems to be the normal thing to the area.
Accessing the hotel with a special needs buggy was a little off putting. The button to do the electric door didn't work and it took waiting for someone to come open the fire exit door to let us in.

It's a convenient location but definitely needs some improvements.

Room was very nice, very clean, loverly rituals soaps. There was a nice complimentary popcorn and drinks in fridge, They did provide a chocolate but was a melted mush, Cot was in room as requetsed, Hotel staff where quiet but polite not overly welcoming. Hotel breakfast was very nice but quite pricey. Hotel is very well situated to the bullring shopping centre and restaurants.

Negatives: There was building works right outside the hotel with hammer drills at 7.30am on a sunday morning.

Second time staying at the Clayton in Birmingham, however this visit unfortunately did not match our previous stay. The location of the property is very central and has discounted parking at locations within a 5 minute walk. We were told when booking that interconnecting rooms may be available, however when checking in the front desk informed us that all such rooms were being refurbished and therefore not available to be booked. Rooms were a little tired with some stains on carpet and the shower was broken in one of the rooms. Breakfast was very good with a large range of options.

Paid for room upgrade, pictures of the upgrade didn’t match the room we was put in, AC broken so the room was roasting, shows soundproof rooms but the hallway noise was like the people were in the room with us, the TV then stopped working, do fortunately we was moved to another room on our last night, and loads behold this room matched the pictures of the upgrade and we paid for! One thing I can’t fault was the grill, lovely food and overall the staff were nice

Great stay overall. Staff were friendly and helpful. Restaurant fish and chips were more like fish and yukas, so they should advertise that on the menu better. Room was clean but the shower had only half a screen door so that was odd. The room had a large wall but small window so it was dark mostly. The beds were also at an odd angle so it was hard to get in between them. The main issue was all the construction happening outside the hotel that made it impossible to park your car for drop and pick up and to access the hotel. And the car park thru recommend was more than t in away, recommend the Moore street on ethanghry don’t tell you about but its closer

The carpets could have done with a shampoo as there were marks all over. One of the towels looked like they had been used. The staff were very helpful throughout the stay.

Really enjoyed our last stay here but very poor this time. Air conditioning wasn’t working and didn’t realise until 11pm when came back to room and too late to complain to reception and had heard reception telling someone on check in that hotel was fully booked. It was too hot for us to sleep and there was also a constant buzzing from the bathroom. Reception said there should have been a fan in the wardrobe but there wasn’t. Breakfast excellent but stifling heat in room and no opening windows and roadworks outside hotel spoilt the experience

I discovered this hotel two years ago when needing somewhere to stay after moving my Nephew into his student accommodation! First impressions really do count as every time I come to visit him in Birmingham, THIS is the hotel we choose! From the very first visit we were made to feel so welcome & relaxed. The hotel is immaculate, food fantastic, the rooms spacious & again super clean! All the staff are amazing! My most recent visit July 2025 I was back to stay after having emptied my Nephews flat! We were shattered but we were able to come back here & just relax & switch off! My Nephew will be going into his third year at University September 2025 so we will be back very soon when we are down moving him in again!
Thanks again to ALL at the Clayton for always looking after us! It really is appreciated! See you in September!

Our first room was lovely and clean and the climate control was working well to keep it cool on one of thr hotest days of the year. However at approximately 9pm road resurfacing started to happen outside our room. By 10pm i had had enough and went to reception. They apologised and attempted to move us into a different room on the otherside of the hotel. However this didn't have any working climate control and no way to open a window. So it was back down to reception with all our luggage. When a manager eventually arrived he offered us a choice of 2 rooms one 2 doors down from our original room and then a suite which had barely working climate control. We opted for the suite as at least we would be able to get some sleep. I was very disappointed as i specifically chose the Clayton brand having stayed with them in Dublin many times and always having good service/facilities.

I am writing to follow up regarding our recent stay. We spoke with the manager, Charlotte, who agreed that a refund would be issued due to the condition of the rooms.

The initial room had no air conditioning, the fan was not working properly, and the bathroom had a very unpleasant smell, possibly due to mould. Although Charlotte kindly assisted us in swapping rooms, the second room also had an air conditioning unit that was not functioning properly.

Given these issues and the agreement we reached with Charlotte, we would appreciate it if you could process the refund as soon as possible.

Checked in on hottest day of year - air con not working, call reception initally wanted me just to use fan in room, explained this not acceptable, requested to move room, they then took half an hour and 2 more calls to see where they where to move my room after confirming that AC was working. I was then late for my dinner reservation and when i returned to my room late in evening found that the AC whilst turned on did not get cold and room was extremely unpleasant for the while night. P.s this is the first time i have ever left a negative review!!!

We were in Birmingham to see Guns N Roses. The hotel was very convenient for the venue and for eating out etc.The only problem was that the air conditioning in the room didn't work which madeit avery uncomfortable nights sleep - but for this I would recommend this hotel without reservation. I really dislike being hot so maybe I am being too harsh.
