This hotel makes a Travelodge look like The Dorchester.

While the ladies at reception and the cleaner were absolutely lovely and did their best to help, this is unfortunately the worst hotel I have stayed in within the UK.

The first room I was allocated had an overwhelming sewage smell. The odour was so strong that I walked straight back out and returned to reception. To their credit, the receptionist apologised and promptly moved me to what she described as one of the newly refurbished rooms.

Although the second room was clean, it was incredibly small, the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in. Anyone who suffers from claustrophobia would likely find it very uncomfortable. The bathroom was equally cramped, with barely enough space to turn around. The shower and sink were also exceptionally small.

To make matters worse, there was a vent in the room on the exterior wall, which meant dealing with dragonflies and other insects throughout my stay.

Overall, this was not a pleasant experience, and I would not choose to stay here again.

Really good value hotel,I stayed for 3nighte at birmingham budget hotel and was excellent value for money,I am not a fan of cooked breakfast so the lighter the better and this was coffee juice toast and cereal what more do want,the room was very clean the shower was really warm and spacious and very clean the bed was good and also clean well done ps reception staff where amazing as well

Hotel overall needs maintenance , cleanliness was below expectations .

Excellent location for a concert at the o2 academy. Staff were very very helpful and while the room was basic it had everything I needed for a one night stay.

Room had a few silverfish but not so many that I felt uncomfortable sleeping there or thought there might be a problem. So if you REALLY hate bugs maybe go elsewhere. Other downside is the breakfast was very limited and would be pretty much nothing if you were dairy free/vegan.

Stayed in one of the newly-refurbished rooms on the 5th floor! Love the new decor, but l can’t believe how little is left at the end of the bed to the wall! One has to navigate the tv mounted on the wall and the shelf, such a shame!
The new shower rooms are great & integrate the toilet!
Still one of my favourite places to stay in Birmingham! 👍

Stayed there with friends for a concert and it was perfect for us, rooms are small but its just somewhere to sleep so it was absolutely fine! The staff were very helpful! Cheap as chips for 2 rooms less than 60 quid between 5 of us!! And a tenner for parking overnight! Can't go wrong, if we are ever going to Birmingham again this is where we will be staying! Oh and only a short walk to China Town and gay village which we loved!!!

I’ll start as the stay went.
I had to wait for a car park space as a car was leaving this was good as I didn’t want to leave my car in a pubic car park. ( the car park is half the normal amount due to some sort of work )
Booking in was good parking is first come first served
The room is fine for the price. I was disappointed there are cigarettes burns on the floor. The room is ok the light switches had a mind of there own switching on and off.
Shower had two temperature super hot or super cold
My aircon didn’t seem to work
I decided to stay an extra night and I got this sorted with out any issues.
Staff very nice and helpful
Overall for the money I definitely stay here again it’s just a room to get your head down.

Firstly I’d say, the staff were lovely. Check-in was easy and they were very friendly and polite. Downhill from there. I’d say I’ve stayed a quite a variety of hotels in my time of all budgets.

This felt like I was staying in a supply cupboard in an office. The window was slightly bigger than a cat flap. The sink was in the room like a prison cell, the toilet in a little cupboard and as for the shower, it was an introduction to what my final resting place may feel like. If you’re claustrophobic don’t even bother.

Air conditioning didn’t work - it was the hottest day of the year. Not that it wasn’t blowing cold, it wasn’t blowing at all. So in combination of the weather, the cat flap window and lack of AC, sleeping in there would have been comfier with a serial killer with a fetish for breath play.

I dunno, even though this was a budget hotel, I still kinda hoped there would be at least a bottle of water. Naa, just two paper cups to fill at your prison cell sink.

Didn’t take any pictures as they would have been ugly enough to ruin my phone camera. 10/10 will avoid like the plague.

If you’re relying on laundry that it SAYS they have, they don’t have any. They tell you to walk down the street. And they did not care that they say they have laundry facilities on Expedia.

Also the elevator was broken when we were there and there was a huge line to go up.

It's a great location, easy walking distance from New Street.
The room was.quite small but perfect for a solo traveller for one night. It was clean and functional, with a toilet and shower. The bed was comfy (fairly hard mattress which I prefer).
No complaints at all, it's great as a cheap option if you're in town for an event.

Excellent stay. Reached before the check in time but they had a storage to store my bag which was convenient as I didn’t want to carry my luggage around the shopping centre.
About 10mins walk from bullring. Clean room and great staff.
Only thing I would advise is for the guests to be provided slippers in the hotel room. Other than that, everything was perfect and the room was clean too.
Great staff and security was present and kind which made me feel safe. Would visit again.

The rooms are a dormitory style, it has an air conditioning unit. It is quiet and is modern. It was very good value.

The duvet is very thin, and should be thicker. The breakfast is very basic, it consists of pastries, cereal , coffee and tea. It had no fruit or t bags. It did not have much choice.

First I want to start off by highly commending the Ibis staff for their amazing customer service throughout my stay. From check in, they greeted me and throughout my stay too. I get it’s the budget room but not having a plug next to the bed is beyond appalling. In terms of cleanliness, the sheets and towels were clean but there were broken false nails on the floor which is inexcusable really. Under the bed was so dusty it coated my suitcase wheels. My room was incredibly cold and I could literally feel the cold wind through my closed window. My AC would literally not work or turn on either. I tried the portable heater and that didn’t work either. They ignored when I put the sign outside my door to not have my room cleaned. I appreciated the refresh but my sign was still ignored. At least the shower was nice. I didn’t have the breakfast because £9 for a couple of pastries and yoghurt is ridiculous. There was a room where I could iron (not ideal but I made it work), but it was aok burnt annd nearly stained my clothes. Again I get its budget but that should not mean neglecting basic amenities.

Quite disappointing stay. The facilities are very dated and the lift very creaky. One of the lifts (the left one) felt like your foot was going to go through the floor. Bed was like lying in cement and the pillows paper thin. Tv was small and dark. Room ventilation did nothing.. was very cold. The receptionist, Steve, was on his phone on Grindr most of the time we interacted. When he wasn’t on his phone he had all these receipts on the table and said the books hadn’t balanced that night so he was annoyed. Seemed like it would’ve been a better job to complete out of customer view. Breakfast was a mini croissant and some sliced cheese that looked like it had been out a while. The “yoghurt” looked like feta cheese and was not appetising at all. Very disappointing stay to be fair. No welcoming spirit from any of the night staff. The gents in the morning shift were a lot more friendlier. I knew it was a budget hotel , but the place looked like it needed a clean.

Ok should have known staying at a hotel while it was having building work done, first night very cold and put it down to complicated temperature control. But the next day when going out seeing heaters being moved out of rooms. Once I returned I sat how cold it was and was promptly given a heater room was nice a toasty. Parking, once you have a space Don't move your car or lose the space.
But I was warned. It was a shame that I encountered the member of staff knew nothing about road tolls or M6 charges.

Location great for what I wanted, thew O2 Academy but not much else around. 10+ min walk to find some shops and places to eat and about a 15-20 min walk from station. Next to a very busy road but for the price I paid it was absolutely fine. Would be nice to have a kettle in the room but I know the budget hotels don't provide these. Staff very friendly. Room size fine however the separate toilet is cosy, and I am only small. All in all a perfectly acceptable room and hotel if looking for somewhere on a budget.
