The bed and pillows weren’t very comfy and we could hear the entertainment while trying to get to sleep. The carpet was a bit dirty and the bathroom wasn’t the cleanest either. The food and room service was generally great but pizza was burnt on the underside and tasted charred. The WiFi was great and staff were friendly and helpful. The stay wasn’t terrible but probably wouldn’t stay here again.

Nice hotel, good facilities, but lazy cleaning staff, first day cleaner, just changed towels and half attempted to make bed, next day knocked door at 2.50pm we asked her to come back in 20 mins as we were about to go out, she told us she was finishing at 3.00pm so really had no intention of cleaning our room, just being lazy, they need to educate there staff about customer service

Superior double room was fabulous, hotel was spotless. Spa facilities were great. Food in Hathaways was great too. Only negative and this isnt anything to do with hotel, just a personal gripe, there wasnt any beers that i particularly enjoy availabe on draughts. Other than that cant complain amd would go nack again.

The room was ok, bed and pillows too hard.
Main issue had been experienced with the evening meal, my wife had steak, it was very chewy and grisly, i tried it, it was tough. chicken was ok, nothing to write home about, service very slow, staff were run ragged, seriously lacking in staff, should have had at least another two staff. We waited for drinks, they didn't have time to give us the bill, i paid in the morning, reception gave us a £25 reduction for the inconvenience and poor food, we should have had the meals removed.
Other tables were sending food back due to being cold.
i am a very seasoned traveler for business and pleasure, i very rarely make a complaint or give issues with a Hotel.

I have choosed the hotel especially for the swimming pool and spa but they were both so old. Pool was too small and not clean. Steam room was out of use and sauna was not heat well, i could stay hours without any problem.. you should see the changing rooms.. i believe last renovation was around 1960s…

Spa in very poor condition, steam room broken, pool cold, sauna flodded for some reason.
As much corrosion on the doors and anything metal as a 1970s Ford Escort.
No one interested in dealing with it, very poor attitude from staff, especially the spa manager.
Gutted as the pictures look nice, just dont bother, over priced, poor staff, poor food.

My friend and I had a lovely stay. Room was spotless. Bed was so comfy, shower huge.
Used the spa facilities, which again was very nice, not too busy, only negative was would have liked robes in the room. It would have been good if the bar stayed open afer 12 though as would have enjoyed a quiet night cap after christmas party.
Will definitely stay again.
Breakfast in the morning was good, nice selection.

The room was lovely. Unfortunately we were really disappointed with the spa area was unclean. Used towels and robes left about.
Kitchen area had used tea bags and sachet papers and spoons in the same plate as the pastries of which were rock hard.
When I went to put soya in my coffee it came out in thick chunks as it was off and curdled.
Put us off returning

It wasn't the best.. Arrived to a cold room despite be phoning to say we would be late as caught a flight home rearlier. One packet of biscuits to share. Arrived to an empty plastic bag on the floor. Cobwebs in the coving which I absolutely hate. ,then it was noisy during the night.

On Arrival the staff member was quite rude, it was only because we had stayed with you many times we knew you had a bar where we could sit and wait for our room to be ready. The room it self seemed more like a family room than the executive we ordered. Couldn’t sit on the sofa and relax as the tv was in front of the bed and didn’t move. When we sat on the bed the headboard was flaking and you got pieces of leather fall off onto the pillows. The coffee machine leaked water all over the counter when we tried to use it. There was only one small bottle of water for two of us and one packet of biscuits for us to share. Having stayed with you many times it didn’t seem like an executive room as we have had much better rooms with you. The receptionist in the morning when we checked out was good and gave us a 20% discount which we appreciated. But at this time we don’t feel like we will stay again with you.

We had a disappointing experience during our two-night stay due to major operational and safety inconveniences.

On our first night, the fire alarm went off at 3 AM (a false alarm). Shockingly, there was no immediate communication from staff. I was forced to call Reception off my mobile because the in-room phone lacked a number for the front desk. As I was traveling with my 9-month-old baby, this lapse in basic safety communication left me concerned about whether we needed to evacuate the room.

Furthermore, our key cards were severely faulty and needed to be recharged twice a day, causing constant hassle and disruption right from check-in. This level of operational failure was truly annoying for such a short trip.

What can I say I arrived at the hotel around 930pm as I had a wedding to attend elsewhere on the following day.

First impressions room was dirty the carpet let’s just say you didn’t want to walk on it bare foot. The curtains where stained the headboard was dirty and dusty the was cobwebs everywhere. The tv worked but you had to set the time and date everytime you left the room or you couldn’t use the guide as once you left the room all the electrics switched off.

Once unpacked time to take a shower glad I bought my own toiletries very tight on these wouldn’t have been enough for 3 people and there was 3 of us. Looked up at the vent in the shower right above where you stand dirt and dust is an understatement. Finally we go to bed and was woken at 3am by the fire alarm this went on for 2-3 mins now this is fine it happens but what was unacceptable we didn’t know whether to stay put leave the room and no announcements where made. In addition reception wasn’t answering the phone.
Asked to speak to a a manager in the morning no one was available until 1 we where a wedding so no one was available during our stay to address the concerns.

Not to mention as the last thing don’t expect a warm breakfast all cooked food is stone cold before you have even sat down 2 mornings in a row both the same.

Shame we stopped at this hotel for my sisters wedding 6 years ago was so impressed at the time standards are less than a 2 star hotel at best now.

Staff warm and welcoming. Bed comfortable although the bedside lamps didn’t work and wouldn’t be fixed until we had left. Reception, when we called, seemed to be under the impression our room (53) had a thing for the room card to go in to operate - not the case. Bathroom is tired and could do with a make over - the shower head would unscrew from the fitting when trying to change the water pattern.

The reception staff were great and we couldn’t fault them but we were really dissatisfied with the lack of care that we experienced. When we arrived there was only one towel in the room despite there being 2 of us on the booking, there was pen scribbled on the head board and there was two pillows on the bed without pillow cases, it just seemed a little unwelcoming. Not taking away from the reception staff as they were kind and friendly but wouldn’t go back purely for the reasons I’ve previously stated. I hate to write a negative review but I really was disappointed in our stay after looking forward to it

Rachel is a credit to lea Marston and she looked after us from check-in to departure .
It’s always lovely to see Mo who always goes above and beyond to make your stay welcoming .

Very noisy in room 3, which is on the central corridor.
Everyone leaving the bar would loiter around and I had to ask them to move on as they kept waking my daughter up.
Food was nice and breakfast good.
Shower was very nice.
If it wasn't for the noisy in the corridor it would have been OK.
We paid highly for booking in advance, on the day was over half the cost.

Fabulous for a brief overnight stay to break our long journey from the South West to the North East. The facilities looked fantastic but sadly didn’t get chance to make full use of these as it was a flying visit for us. Will definitely stay again and hopefully get chance to enjoy the dining and spa experience next time. Good convenient access from M42, the grounds around the hotel were very pretty, the room was spacious and comfortable. Easy parking, pleasant, helpful staff. Everything was perfect for me, the only negative was that my daughter and her toddler prefer a bath, so they were disappointed that it was only a shower.

Not sure what the cleaners were thinking. They made the bed but on walking into my Superior Room immediately noticed bin not emptied, used cups, stained towel. Mesh curtain liner was strewn over chair with plastic fixings on window sill. I tried calling reception to ask for a room change. There was no usual call 0 for reception. No phone instruction at all, so I tried 0, 9, 1 etc but nothing.

Car park full, clearly busy and yet one person on reception. Why? Showed video on my room and was given key to next room. Unpacked belongings then noticed noisy air con this, despite being switched off. A second longish walk to reception. Oh I can give you a quieter room. Why didn't you do that before?

Third room. Air con was newer but after unpacking again, I noticed it made noise coming on and off despite being off on my wall setting. I knew this would disturb sleep.

Back to reception. Your phones are not working. And I do not want to hear air con systems feeding other rooms. I chose the hotel thinking it would be peaceful surrounded by golf course. Windows open and you hear road noise.

Receptionist came back and said I could have the Balmoral Suite. Off we went to room number four. Thankfully no air conditioning. But, this was a dated poor quality room. Balmoral in name only.

I missed opportunity to use spa or order food due to time spent. Road noise prevalent. Woken at 6.18am with groundsman going up and down presumably on lawnmower. Full refund given. No sign of manager.

Nice hotel. Second visit in consecutive years for golf. Great location. Slight change this year and picked exec room which made a difference. Enjoyed being able to get a drink and sit in the garden last year. This year could still but the only place for drinks only was the bar which I feel lacks a bit of atmosphere as I like the pub atmosphere. Food good in restaurant and service good. Breakfast not so good. Cold on day one. Days two no hash browns, day three eggs ran out and had to get from farm and then cook them. Staff are great at this hotel.

The hotel was fine, staff were excellent. The bedroom is in need of a refurb. Just one small wash and go bottle of gel between the 2 of us. No shampoo. Toilet cistern didn't flush properly.
The rest of the stay was fine.
Would stay there again.

Meh! It’s ok but didn’t get what we wanted

Lots of light came under the door at night and lots of noise from corridor. Pool closed to kids but not stated when booking.
Couldn’t get hold of anyone at reception for hours to confirm pool opening hours. Wouldn’t have booked if known was limited but couldn’t even find out.

Clean and simple other than that.

Oh yeah Buffett breakfast was kind and friendly but breakfast buffet was Luke warm and eggs solid.

The best part of the hotel experience was the staff. Our party checked in early and the reception staff was very accommodating and kept our bags and suggested we use the spa if we would like to freshen up and relax. However, the spa is in need of repairs and more cleaning in the changing room.

The room we stayed in had VERY dirty sheer curtains, (brown, gross stains) it had cobwebs on the light fixtures next to the bed, pillows flat as pancakes and only 1 channel on the TV worked.

The dining room staff were very nice and friendly. The downside is there are limited hours for food service and several of the menu items were not available for dinner.

It’s a serene and quiet environment away from the hustle in Birmingham town. For me it’s perfect location for getaways and steal a moment to get to the busy town and back. The staffs are welcoming, lovely breakfast and oh the amazing landscape with a good field.
