The location was perfect, right near two major subway lines and surrounded by great shopping. It’s ideal for anyone wanting to stay central on a budget. Its a small space but that was expected. Its exactly as described. Typical all in one combined shower toilet. Very limited space for opening luggage. I had 2 twin beds but placed one luggage on one bed to be able to function and pack. Location is the best part. Ideally in Myeongdong and right near the station and bus stops. Shopping was easier when I could easily drop off bags then go back to shopping. I booked this place as my departure hotel when I did my shopping haul and it worked out well. Except for the maneuvering luggage to pack in the small room. I cant imagine sharing the space with anyone. It was just me and I barely fit comfortably with two check-in bags and a carry-on.

Provided breakfast was decent, especially its free. Best seaweed soup I've ever had, I went back for seconds!

The accommodations and staffing were beyond exceptional. We had booked this place after the recommendation of a friend who had stayed here last year and would easily recommend it to new any returning travelers. They are really good a accommodating your needs, and in our case we had a red eye flight and would check in around 0300 which was past their normal check in time but we had reached out and they had someone there to help us, which we were extremely grateful for. The location is unbelievable as you are next to the train station and bus stop which made it easily accessible. Not to mention that the food stalls that come out at night are only a few feet away from the front door, but not close enough that the sound would reach you. Easily would recommend and will definitely be returning in the future.

It markets itself as a hostel but having stayed at hostels and hotels...it offers far more than any hotel I have stayed at for that price point

There are FREE washing machines on each floor with detergent and clothes racks provided.

Free breakfast is offered. I have seen some people complain about having to wash your plate but you are getting a free meal ; it is the least you can do. You are going to be washing a plate, cup and cutlery (that's like 3 mins work get over yourselves!)

The bathroom has an unusual set up by western standards in that the wet room has your toilet and shower in the same space but its not that deep. Anyone can figure out how to turn the showerhead so that you keep the water getting on the toilet to a minimum. It is also not unique to 57 Myeongdong as have seen this design in Malaysia and Singapore in actual hotels.

I cannot wait to return here as the location is crazy central. What more do you want from being right on Myeongdong. The station is 3 - 5 mins walk away and in terms of shops for beauty, food and clothing they are on the doorstep. You go downstairs and turn right and there you are.

Shout out to Joon I think who put up with my food questions and to the old man who manned the door when I arrived on Fri 19. When I was going out late he made sure I had the code and checked I could get back in as he wouldnt be there on my return. I miss Seoul

This is a great place to stay. Close to subway station Exit 5. Convent to take the Airport Limousine Bus back to Incheon airport, located close to Exit 9 of the subway.
The reception area needs new carpet. Either it’s stained really bad or needs cleaning.
My room was two twin beds with street and roof top views.
The bed is the hardest bed I’ve ever sleep in. I asked for a mattress topper(duvet). It didn’t help so I went across the street and bought two yoga mats. Still was to hard for my hip joint.
Staff is friendly. Has a breakfast buffet every day.
They will store luggage if you get there too early.

The location was walkable to Seoul Station, subway and bus stops, and located right by street markets. Rooms are small with wet baths but had everything we needed. Not fancy but they did have free breakfasts. Our room was clean with free washing machines just out the door from our room. We would recommend and would use again.

If you're tight on money, this isn't a bad place to stay. However, if you aren't, I recommend staying somewhere nicer. The location of the hostel is actually quite nice because there are a lot of dining/shopping options and public transportation right near by. Although, I think the biggest problem with this hostel are the bathrooms inside of each room. They are very crammed, and when you shower, splashing water all over the place (e.g., onto the toilet) is inevitable. Also, the walls seem to be paper-thin; I could hear the person next door cough as if there wasn't a wall there. Lastly, don't let the photos of the breakfast on their website fool you - the actual breakfast did not look like that. One positive thing I will say is that the front desk person was very helpful and kind.

Nice hotel in a great local. The staff were kind and attentive.

There was a troubling aspect to my stay, however. The common area saw breakfast served with guests tasked with cleaning their dishes. I noticed several guests not using soap and only giving their cups, dishes, and utensils a cursory rinse under the water. NO SOAP! The staff then told me that no further cleaning/disinfecting was done. THIS IS VERY TROUBLING DURING A HEALTH CRISIS. Anyway, I made sure to wish my cup beforehand after that.

Location is brillant. Just off the busy myedongong street . Very near to bus stand for limo bus to the airport. The staff can speak english and they do almost every thing. The dinning area is open at all hours and we could have free coffee and tea, use their crockery for our take away, subject to us washing up of course.

The only thing I could not get use to is the tiny bathroom. Its even smaller than the bathrooms in Japan. The door is literally at my knees when I sit on the toilet and I am 5 foot 5\".
But other than that everything is fine.

Cheap hotel in the myeongdong area. Issac toast is just around the corner, and the train station is just a few min walk.

Breakfast was surprisingly not just bread and cereal. There were wieners, eggs, cheese and salad.

Room was decent , but felt unclean somehow with the marks on the walls and stains on the sheets.

Think twice before booking

Room temperature cannot be controlled. Super shivering cold, need to even wear a sweater and jacket to sleep. Toilet is tiny, hardly can turn around. Sink and shower is attached obviously to save space. Will not return. Location was perfect for shoppers at Myeongdong though. A part of the room does not have blinds near the toilet and outside can view in if you're changing clothes....a big no no !!

Close to Myeongdong shopping area and train station. Stayed there during winter. The big windows are abit drafty, makes that side of the bed cold. The individual heating is way better than the hotel just few steps away. Bed is comfy, only weird thing is you are showering in the toilet just in front of the sink. It’s inside a very old building but the hostel levels is very new. Has no kettle but hot cold dispenser down the corridor and washing machine is a plus too! Free breakfast too.

Budget hostel - not for the fussy

First of all, you have to set your expectation right. This is a hostel, not a hotel. Don't expect hotel comfort and service. Even though it does look a bit like a hotel, it certainly is not a hotel. There is no hotel lobby. You enter the hostel through an old office building and take the lift to 13 floor to the reception. The staff in this hostel speak fluent English and are friendly and helpful. The room is super tiny - the smallest room I have ever stayed in. For two person, it will be really cramp and if you have two big luggage, you will not have any space to walk.The toilet is even worse. It is at most 1.5m by 1.5m. There is basically no shower area. You have to shower in front of the basin and so your toilet will be all wet. You cannot throw toilet paper into the toilet bowl and will have to throw it in the bin. For room service and cleaning, you have to inform the hostel staff for them to clean your room. The walls are not concrete wall, they are false wall with soundproofing. Hence, you will be able to hear your neighbour talking. The breakfast is really simple (some bread, salad, corn soup) and you will be very disappointed if you are expecting a buffet spread. Having said all these, you will be able to save half your hotel lodging fees compared to the hotels nearby. The price is very affordable and the room is generally new and clean. The location is extremely convenient near to subway station and airport bus stop. Myeongdeong shopping street is below the hostel.

A fantastic little hostel right in the centre of everything but without it being noisy. Had a great view and the staff had outstanding english and even gave us free travel adaptors when we had forgotten ours. Will definitely stay here again. 2 minute walk to the subway station and the airport bus was just a 5 minute walk. Plenty of choice for breakfast too! I have no complaints at all. Thanks for making my first trip to Korea so amazing and easy.

Great Place to stay near shops and subway line

Our stay here at Philstay Meyongdong station is excellent. Not only the location is great, their rooms were also cleaned well. The staff at the hostel are also very friendly. They try their best to help you when you need something (even if you need some travel advice while your in South Korea). Although the bathroom is a little bit small, but considering the price and location, staying at Philstay Myeongdong station is worth it. We also liked the breakfast served to use every morning.

Outside the hotel was full of shops and restaurants that one can visit. There are even a lot of street food vendors nearby. For late night snack, one can easily visit the convenience store below (CU) or visit the McDonald right across the street.

Note: There are two Philstay Myeongdong nearby. This one is located near Myeongdong station main road. Take Exit 5 of Myeongdong station and just walk forward until you see a corner (CU convenience store) and turn right onto that street. Philstay Myeongdong hotel is located just beside the convenience store.

4 of us stayed in 2 twin rooms for 3 nights. hotel has a convenient location within 5min walk from myeongdong metro station. it was a pleasant surprise that they provided each person with a free SIM card. minimal housekeeping but they will change your towels and empty your trash cans if requested. room has a tv with almost (?) every channel. breakfast is provided with choices of coffee, egg, cereal, bread and cup noodles. room is clean and cosy just a tad small. the toilet was small with very little space to move about and my toilet door couldn't be closed but we could make do with it. there was little space to open our luggages but even though so we felt that it was very worth the price. staff was helpful and provided us with directions when we needed it. hotel also had weighing scales and offered EMS service which we utilised as we bought too many things and had to ship excess baggage. it was convenient as we need not go figure out everything at the post office by ourselves and the service helped us pack the items too. we had a very enjoyable stay. would stay here again.

Our stay at philstay was a good experience as the room was clean and tidy. The staff was extremely helpful and they speak English. The location was extremely near Myeongdong Station exit 5, but we had some difficult finding the place initially as we went to another place with the same name. Please input in the address provided when you confirm your booking instead of input Philstay Myeongdong in the google maps. Last but not least, i love that they provide free rental of pocket wifi with a certain amount of deposit.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay there.

Take Airport bus 6015 KRW10,000 and drop off in front of Sejong hotel.walk straight(direction towards myeong-dong station) 400m(6mins) until you see Isaac bread stall & CU convenient stall.Turn right and philstay is on your right.If you take MTR drop off at Myeongdong station Exit5.Hotel was closed to shopping street and lots of food restaurant around the area.Both Brain and Tavia(cantonese) speaks english and very helpful to all our questions.We had a pleasant stay and look forward to choose this hotel again.

What you pay for is what you get

Philstay is extremely accessible to the rows of shops which is flooded by throngs of people wvery night. Cosmetics, food outlets, convenience stores, apparel outlets, you name it, they have it.

One must definitely note that this is a Bed and Breakfast and not a hotel, so one ought to twerk their standards accordingly as well. The rooms are a tad small, bathroom is astonishingly small, whenever you shower, water seeps out of the cubicle (yes, cubicle) the floor would be wet as there's no partitions between the showering and washing up area. Wifi signals are good if you manage to connect as they drop very frequently.

But considering the price, location and that it offers breakfast, I'd still swallow all these complains and book this B&B

good location, 3 minutes walk to Myengdong station exit 5, right in the centre of Myengdong...u can find money changer whihc offer good exchange rate nearby..issac toast is just nearby...the only cons is the room is small...the hotel is at the 13rd floor of the building..hotel staff are nice...i was amazed by the receptionist girl who can speak multi-language fluently: chinese, cantonese, english, korea...

Good Stay, Awesome Location

New hotel, clean and equipped with practical facilities like the mini washing machines. Rooms was a tad small and becomes cramp with luggage opened up, but for the price it was acceptable. Best part of this hotel was its location, hard to beat with similar hotels. Checked-in 3 times into this hotel, some mix up with the reservation of the rooms as i requested rooms with city view, but was given rooms without windows instead upon arrival although it was confirmed 2 mths ahead. Other than that, it was a good stay.

Small room, tiny bathroom in a fabulous location

Philstay Myeongdong Station just opened a couple of months back, so everything's new. It's housed in a commercial building that's at the intersection of main street Toegye-ro and alley Myeongdong 2-gil. If you take the subway, it's really convenient. Not so convenient if you take taxi, as the drivers couldn't find the building's location, even with the building's address and a GPS system.

I was assigned a window-less room so small that fit only a double bed and a small dresser/refrigerator with just enough space for my 29\" suitcase. The air-cooler was really strong, and blew right into me all the time, freezing my butt off even in summer temperatures. I switched on the air cooler just to cool down the room every time I returned to the room.

A sink, shower and toilet was cramped into a tiny bathroom, and felt a little claustrophobic even for me, a petite, skinny female. The walls are thin, so do bring your earplugs if it's full house. This property has 4-5 mini washing machines, and even provides detergent and racks to dry clothes. The staff can speak English and Mandarin/Putonghua, and were friendly, even taking time to answer the many questions I had.

I got a really good deal for a double room for this trip, and I would stay here again, if the price per night is less than US$40.

スタッフの方はとても親切です
しかし、トイレとシャワーが同じ部屋ですが、とても狭くてシャワーがかなりしにくいです
ベッドのギリギリに柱があり、テレビが見にくかったです
