Lovely hotel, fantastic location and remarkably quiet rooms despite the noise of the neighbourhood.

The beds come with two pillows. The first of which was far too hard to sleep comfortably and the other flat and equally uncomfortable.

The only other issue was the heating was permanently on, and can't be turned down by guests during winter months.

This being said the rooms were very well equipped, staff were very helpful and location was perfect.

This is the second time I stayed at Solaria Myeongdong. Good location, comfortable room size and very convenient to go other places in Seoul. However, as Expedia privilege member, I was offered the welcome drink at the cafeteria. It’s only opened from 12pm to 3pm, with such a short timing, I had not been able to use this privilege at all.

Great location and pricing. Room was small but well appointed. As with other hotels in Korea, once fall hits they kill the air conditioning and the room was hot. The kind staff provided a fan for the room but as this room did not have a large window there was no way to cool the room down. I am not reducing my rating since I knew that the room came without an exterior window when booking. However, management and owners should seriously consider leaving an option for guests to use air conditioning year round, given the constant fluctuations in temperatures despite whatever arbitrary dates are chosen to dictate these changes in their hvac systems. (This happens all over Asia and not just at this hotel). Staff should get 10000000 stars! They were phenomenal from start to finish!!!

Rooms are clean, but could use upgrade. Staff ok, nothing extraordinary. Laundry on 6th floor: convenient and cheap. Breakfast mediocre; decent selection but not outstanding. Was surprised that rice wasn’t fresh: chewy and unlike Korean or Japanese rice, which is usually exceptional! Best thing about Solaria is its location: smack in the heart of Myeongdong; near shopping, restaurants and subway station. Easy to use and get around Seoul. Paid $250 per night and have definitely paid less for more: better room, better food and much better service (no one smiles at this hotel; could be cultural, but they all seemed either unhappy or too complacent). My fourth stay but would suggest booking another property!

But car cannot directly access to the hotel so need to bring luggage to walk to the main road to take taxi. The lift is a bit old and not clean. Other than that, recommend to stay.

The location of the hotel is very good, right in the central of Myeongdong, makes it very convenient to place all your purchases back at the hotel and back to shopping again! It is close to the airport limousine bus pick up point, the only drawback as it doesn’t have the lobby for drivers’ pick up and drop off. You would have to walk to nearby streets for cab hailing as the cars can’t drive into hotel doorstep. In addition, love the separate shower and toilet arrangement.

This hotel is located on a pedestrian street with no dinner options. However, you have lots of restaurant options in the area. There is an Olive Young close by and a wonderful hair salon, called Park Jun Beauty Lab, on the 5th floor. Rooms were comfortable with amazing views. My favorite part of the room was the soaking tub. Definitely recommend this hotel and the hair salon!

I liked going around Myeongdong at night which made the hotel's location very convenient. The room had areas that were clean and others that were not so clean - found some stray curly hairs on the white seat where people but bags and luggage - not what I expected of a Japanese hotel chain. The staff were very friendly though and the check-in and check-out process was very smooth. The breakfast was quite nice if you dont mind having a Korean style breakfast with just sone western options on the side. The room was on a higher floor so had a nice view at night but the aircon did this annoying thing of switching on and off once left on for a few minutes which was equal parts annoying and creepy. If the sound bothers you, you'll need to switch the aircon off to sleep but then probably wake up earlier than expected once the room got too hot. Overall, not truly satisfied considering the price of the hotel. I would try another place next time.

This was a great hotel right in the middle of Myeongdong. Lots of restaurants, some 24/7 and lots of shopping. The airport bus is only a 5 minute walk along with the subway. Very efficient washer and dryer available. I only wish I had more time!

Hotel is in a great location, right in the heart of Myeongdong. Lots of shops and restaurants nearby. Namdaemun Market, Shinsegae and Lotte is just across the street.

Just left this hotel a few days ago. We stayed here for 10 days. The hotel is in the middle of shopping and night market area. It is near train stations and bus stations. We had a wonderful stay and will stay here again in a heartbeat. Although there are still some construction on the bottom floors, it didn't really bother us in terms of getting in and out of the hotel. They have a designated temporary entrance for guests and it was fine. We didn't hear any banging while we were in our room during the day. There is someone standing by the entrance who gives out hand warmers to outgoing guests. On the 6th floor, they have coined washers and dryers for you to use. They have a vending machine for laundry detergent. Not sure where the negative comments came from, but seems like some guests were a bit inconvenienced due to streets closing at night for shopping and night market access. Just keep in mind that taxis and Ubers can't drop you off in front of hotel during night time, but the drop off location is only 2 minute walk. When you call for a cab, the driver actually goes up to 21st floor (hotel lobby) to pick up the passengers. No need to wait outside in the cold. Uber app works perfectly. Also, just a few steps and you'll find different restaurants. It is much cheaper to eat out. Overall, a wonderful experience and 10/10 recommend.

The room looked exactly like the pictures. I liked the layout of the room where the toilet is in a separate space from the shower area and had its own little sink.

I chose to not have my room cleaned daily. The hotel still provided new towels by leaving them neatly, along with water and amenities, in a nice clean bag in front of my room every day.

The breakfast, which I paid for along with the room through Expedia for a good price, had a wide variety of options. The buffet included different types of eggs, soups, congee, vegetables, fruits, and cereals. There’s definitely something for everyone.

Staff very polite and helpful.

Location was exceptional. Right in the middle of Myeongdong with easy access to shopping, restaurants, and night market. Also very close to the airport shuttle and 2 different metro lines.

I travel quite a bit and have to say this was one of my favorite hotels given the price to quality (including convenience) ratio. Will definitely stay here again when I return to Seoul.

Property location is great in regards to downtown area and location to shopping and dining, street markets, etc. Transportation is hard because of congestion of crowds of people. For Uber/taxi pickup you will need to walk to main road which can be tedious with your luggage and the cobblestone roads. Property stated it had a rooftop lounge environment in which it did not. The hotel was under construction for certain parts of the hotel. The bed was not as comfortable being as though two beds were pushed together and they were not properly covered as to not feel indentation of the two mattresses. I would have liked more plush bedding and the mattresses topper was way too small for the bed. There was one sheet on the bed and no fitted sheet so you could see the mattress. There was stains on the curtains. The overall room was very small. I was underwhelmed with the overall experience of the hotel.

We stayed in a Hollywood double. Loved that fact that the shower/bath and basin area was completely separated, also the toilet was in a separated room. Bed was very comfortable and plenty of wardrobe space. Only downside, there was only one bedside table, so it meant the other person had nowhere to put their belongs eg glasses, watch etc. The images on the website clearly showed two bedside tables on either side of the bed. Apart from this, we loved the overall stay and the location is perfect for transport and attractions.

Stayed here for 3 nights. Hotel is right in the bustling Myeongdong area. Great location for those wishing to experience a vibrant side of Seoul and shopping. We were able to get to all major sights easily from the hotel. Staff were very helpful with all our requests and were able to store our bags after checkout.

Negatives:
1. Due to its location taxis are unable to pull up and drop off at the hotel, however the hotel can organise taxis for you and will have the driver call to the reception for you.
2. Your room is cleaned every second day. We were provided towels etc on our second day however if you like your room cleaned daily this may be a negative for you.
3. Rooms are compact.

Smack in popular Myeongdong so it’s super convenient to shops and eateries and bustling even though we arrived at the start of a 3 day public holiday when all the major shopping malls and markets were closed the first 2 days. Only things is there is no entry for cars so if taking vehicle airport transfer, you would have to walk in with luggage where the driver can drop you off which is about one straight road away.
Rooms are old style with a lot of wood like in the 70s/80s style and oddly lounge/restaurant is not 24hrs. Toilet, shower and taps are of course modern. Comfortable for all.

We really enjoyed our stay in Myeongdong. The solaria was very convenient and the breakfast was a great deal (recommend adding it as an option). The hotel is located between two stations 🚉 which makes it easy if you’re looking to do sight seeing. Our room was well kept and the staff was friendly. My only suggestion to the hotel is to ensure the decorative pillows are clean. The one on our bed was not. Other than that one detail, we would highly recommend it!

My family stayed at Solaria Nishitetsu Hotel during our stay at Myeongdong. This hotel is centrally located in the Myeongdong area, making it an ideal spot with easy access to numerous shops and restaurants such as the Olive Young Main Branch, nyu nyu, Breadypost, and Myeongdong Kyoja Main Branch to name a few. Lotte Department Store and Namdaemun Market are also about 10min walk and the cable car to NamSan tower is probably 15-20 min walk uphill. The Myeongdong neighborhood is bustling with activity, especially on weekends, as both tourists and locals fill the streets. While it wasn't an issue for us getting to and from the hotel, it did take some time to get accustomed to the busy atmosphere. There is no locker for luggage if you arrive early, but a hotel staff member watches over all guests' luggage until check-in time. We had a family twin room during our stay which was within our budget. The room was small, as we expected, but the toilet was in its own stall separate from the shower and bathtub area, which was nice as it allowed multiple people to use the restroom simultaneously. I was enjoying my stay until I saw a huge cockroach near the toilet early in the morning. I have no idea where it came from and where it went. I would have considered staying at Solaria for my next visit to Myeongdong, but this experience has made me reconsider.

Our stay at Solaria was great. This hotel is smack dab in the middle of Myeongdong. Airport limousine 6015 bus dropped us off and the walk to the hotel was only 5 minutes from the bus stop. We just as easily took the limousine bus back to the airport ( cash or tmoney card only). The Myeoungdong station was also just a 5min walk from the hotel.
The breakfast buffet was well worth it. The food options were plentiful and all cooked well. There's a tous les jour bakery just up the street with excellent coffee. I would not hesitate to stay here again next time in Seoul.
