Room was good, duvets were warm. Getting to the room was a bit of a maze just the building is really cool. I did book a budget double room, and was given a room with a double bed rather than two singles, but there was a pull out bed on the chair in the room.

+ Great location, only 4 minutes walk from Toyen Underground station, 3 minutes walk from Toyen Park, supermaket, bakery, cafés..
+ Very clean.

- Only 1 towel per person, no shower mat so the bathroom floor can get easily wet. Also, only 1 little duvet per person, 1 pillow.

Cheap but stressful and not worth booking

We booked the hotel for the price, as it’s cheaper than others in the area - but it is cheap for a reason and I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

There was no receptionist present on entry, only a telephone to check in with an offshore call centre and a surprise extra 2000 NOK deposit on entry.

The room itself was not sanitary, with stains on the beds & visible damage to the walls. Plugging in a phone charger caused the lights to dim & there was a concerning amount of condensation on several appliances. The whole room was unpleasantly hot.

The room we were staying in also had access to an exterior patio area, which had been left unlocked - and we were provided no key to lock the door.

This isn’t up to standard for a 3 Star Hotel, the only advantages here are price & location, but I’d recommend saving yourself the stress and booking elsewhere.

Good budget choice for a short stay.

This was a good choice for a 1 night stopover in Oslo. On the outskirts of the centre but walkable to the waterfront or good metro service. Not much nearby to keep you local for entertainment. Check-in was quite straightforward when we arrived but the details given beforehand weren’t that clear. Basically, turn up at reception, lift the phone and speak to the receptionist, pay your room deposit on the card reader and validate a room entry card. The room was great. Basic cooking facilities, microwave, fridge, kettle and washer dryer included.

The check in is done by phone. You don't see anyone during check in or out. We were instructed to open the windows when cooking. We did that, and also used the fan over the stove, but the smoke alarm went off. A gentleman came to our door and asked if the windows were open, and we said yes, and that we also had the fan on. He said okay, that's fine, and left. After that we also used the room fan directed at the window while cooking and the alarm didn't go off. One night there was a group of very loud young men outside for several hours but we couldn't figure out what they were doing. The building itself has different levels and sections with no elevator. We discovered our room was near another entrance we could have used without hauling our luggage through different sections and up stairways.

I was not able to stay at this property as there is a self-check in but no one at Central City Apartments will answer messages or calls regarding how to check-in. I have asked Expedia for my money back since I literally could not get in to my room and had to get another hotel, but Expedia said they would have to call the property. Expedia has been unable to get anyone to answer at the property (same as me;) and yet still won't agree to refund my money. Never book Central City Apartments because you'll end up paying double for another hotel in Oslo. Expedia is going downhill as well and still has not contacted me about returning my money (Expedia was supposed to send me an email as soon as they were able to reach Central City Apartments.)

DON'T CONSIDER THIS PROPERTY. For the price, it horrendous. Disciplable communication for a self service and no reception service. At checkin you have a call via a shelf ad that's IF you get through on the first attempt. Several calls later, the only thing the indian woman on call cared for was the deposit money you'll pay (about 150 pounds)but you won't know about this amount until you sadly committed to the property. Expedia take zero accountability for this. Moving to get to the room, you also don't have a working telephone in the room. It's a lousy room. Old, haggard. Daft use of space with a TV set up far up the guttering height. Dispicable kitchenette. The property offers scratched frying pan which would class as a terrible health hazard seeping poison into you. Basic basic things they couldn't think of got the price paid. The electricity was horrific in which it went off during the day. The hot water for the shower also was a problem but who do you tell? You couldnt get hold of anyone. This moves me to my next issue which were the tiny beds provided on the hardened bedding ever. If you are over UK size 10 (female) you are most likely going to fall out the bed (pictures) or hit yourself. It's 2/3rds of a single bed. I hated my stay and had poor help from Expedia. A full investigation should be done and a complaint to the atol protection for the failure to keto he me feeling safe. On the very last day I met some of the staff who seemed nice. Yawn. Hated my stay.

The only complaint I have is that because these are unmanaged or at least I never met or saw an employee - there was no one to deal with the folks who decided to stay up yelling and screaming all night. The next night too someone came onto a shared balcony and tried to look into my window. Just there wasn’t anyone to call in these situations for help.

First of all, there is no reception, you walk in and there is a small desk to the right with a phone and a card reader, you call through to some office and you are then informed about a £200.00 deposit which is not mentioned anywhere. I had to help 2 lots of new guests in using this system during my stay as no one could understand it. We then go into the room, there were utensils in the draw covered in food, the floor was filthy, and worst of all the curtains were covered and stained from what was clearly bodily fluids, disgusting place. We asked for the curtains to be changed and were told they would be, however they were not. Nobody was around when we got back. We took lots of photos and will be taking this further.

Close to Tøyen station - 10 min metro or 25 min walk to Oslo city centre. Easy check in and deposit refunded promptly. However, room smelt strongly of cigarette smoke, poorly lit and very noisy neighbours (minimal sound proofing) and area felt unsafe - particularly at night.

Budget hotel, leas than half an hour walk from downtown Oslo, or less by metro.
The hotel is spread over 3 levels, there are parking spots at the bottom level and a few at the top.
Free laundry facilities are available.

Extra spacious room and bathroom. Well equipped. Clean. Very good location.
Smoke detector was extra sensitive. Reacted to steam from the kettle and what I imagine was the dust lifting off the wall mounted heater. Could be a nasty surprise for someone not familiar with those devices. Also one of the hobs on the stove kept blowing the fuse rendering the stove useless. Fortunately the fuse box was in the room. Easy to fix if you know how.
I would recommend the hostel for its price, comfort and proximity to the city and public transport. It helps if you’re street smart :p

The are is nice and the property is close to some grocery shops and also underground.
The room that we had was average. The smell in the room nothing close to fresh. And the communication with the receptionist (which is via a phone btw) was so poor: she was claiming that she is not able to hear me most of the time, the attitude was like she didn’t care at all about the conversation and that she just wants to hang up as soon as she can.
So overall nice area but really poor costumer service.

The apt had no paper towels and no dish towel to do dishes that are mandatory to do unless you want to be charged. The TV has no streaming services.

Horrible experience with “hotel”. Photos are not accurate. Communication was non-existent. There is no reception and you are required to call to check in, this wouldn’t be an issue if anyone answered the phone. Phone number on hotels.com is not current. Left with no option but to last minute book another hotel, but based on the overall feel and state of the place, I am grateful

I checked in late in the evening. Communicated in advance with the number given in the booking. When I arrived I called at the number. He assigned a fellow to help me in the check in. I wanted to pay in cash in either euro or dollar. I was told to pay almost one hundred euro more than the exchange rate. When I protested , the fellow present again called somebody who explained that exchange rate in this case applies of selling euro in the market. So the difference. I was confused as I had paid normal exchange rate in Switzerland and Denmark. Moreover, the reception is rarely open. It's good for single, independent fellow but for a tourist family it's not recommended

The check in was a nightmare as it's by telephone only and isn't practical for a deaf person. Had to beg a cleaner to call on my behalf. That was stressful and would have liked to know this in advance so that I could come to an alternative arrangement. My baggage arrived late so I was stressed out waiting for my luggage to arrive especially there was no one at the reception so I could not go out and enjoy myself. Other than that the room was clean and adequate.

A good value place to stay

I had a deluxe apt for two. it had a combined kitchen/dining/living room, separate bedroom. The kitchen had a microwave, fridge and full oven. There was two of all crockery and cutlery. Despite the normal sized oven there were only small side plates so they don't expect you to cook a big meal! location was great - near the subway and a little shopping complex with restaurants, supermarket etc. The reception was hard to find as per other reviews but you basically keep walking around the back until you find the furthest entrance door. Check in is all remote - someone on the end of a phone but all worked fine without issue. I would stay here again if I visited Oslo.

The room barely had enough space to open my suitcase. It was confusing to find the place to check in; There was no reception area, they were just set up in one of the rooms. They tried to get me to pay on some shady site before I arrived, even though the Expedia email the request came from had a warning not to do that.

Dirty, expensive and disappointing

I would hardly call this place an apartment. It was instead a hotel room with a tiny kitchen.
Although I could make my own food, there was no table to sit at to eat properly.
The apartment wasn't clean either. I for example found a used knife behind the bed and my feet got dirty from walking around barefoot.
Although, I needed a keycard to enter my apartment, the two doors before reaching this door were unlocked. There was a card reader, but you could just open the door (including the outside door to enter the building). This did not seem very safe. On two occasions I even heard people walking up the steps to the door of my apartment. Luckily, that door was locked, otherwise, they would have walked straight in.
Conclusion: I would not recommend staying here at all. It is also way overpriced.

Nice & Cosy Room, but Far Away from Reception

The room was larger and cosier than expected. It was comfortable for a family of four but my family members who slept at the upper deck had greater difficulty in falling asleep because the window was further away from them. We needed to carry our luggage up a flight of stairs and it was in a separate building from the reception. There was nothing much to see within the neighbourhood but the apartments was situated near to Tøyen metro station.

The room was clean and a good size for three of us. Beds were comfortable. Initially there were going to be 4 of us, but instead we had 3 of us and 5 twin beds in the room. The cons were that lighting was not great. Light in the kitchenette was completely out. There was a towel for each person, but no washcloths or kitchen towels or paper towels. Also, if you cook, you’d have to purchase a sponge to wash dishes as this was also not provided. The TV reception was pretty bad, but if you are traveling, most time is spent outside of the room, so for just having a place to stay, it was great.

The staff is very friendly.
Shops and restaurants are near the hotel and it's close to Oslo city centre.
You can walk, take a bus or underground.
The restaurant in the Hotel is fantastic and serves a lovely breakfast.

Great staff at the hotel, easy access metro - not really walking distance to main Oslo attractions. Wish there was some kind of microwave or toaster oven in the room, but kitchenette was handy. Would be nice to have a towel in the kitchen area as well. Decently priced beer/wine at the hotel bar. And a nice bathroom in the room. Would definitely stay again!

Near to metro. Quick check in. Friendly staff. Good breakfast available with extra charges. Nice apartment with separate dinning, living and bedrooms. Came with good size fridge, cooking stove and utensils. Stayed in apartment for 4, will need to climb couple of stairs to room and also to beds. Stayed twice, 1st time given room with toilet at same level with beds, 2nd time toilet is located down 1 flight of stairs. Hard to manage with large luggages. Storage available at lobby. We left our luggages in storage and took whatever we need in small bags to the rooms.

Apartment style hotel...just off the path a bit

This was a nice apartment-type setting. Staff was not overly friendly but they were helpful. Room was clean but fairly compact. You only get room service if you stay more than 2 nights. Was in more of a residential area and not really close to shops and restaurants. We walked to get food and shopping and it was about a 20-min walk. Shower setup was weird and always got water everywhere. It is a nice place for the money but would probably choose a hotel closer in to the action next time

Parking is on first come first served basis, not enough spaces for the number of rooms available. This can cause a problem if one arrives by car, no spaces, and road parking not obvious in locality. However it was well situated for travelling into the town centre.

Half of hour to walk to the Central Station; a small Kitchinette very usefull; in 6 days the room cleaned only once, the room was small(very easy to hit the ceiling) but very well organized.To say the truth I found everything I need.
The receptionist told me the check-in is not before 15.00.After the long trip I waited 2 hours jin front of the reception desk in order just to see how another couple was immediately put into their room.I asked again and the receptionist said:\" oh yes, now we can make it\"...

Decent location- 2 minutes to the metro which is just a couple of stops into the City Centre or a 15 minute walk
We had a triple ensuite room which had everything we needed, it was clean and in good condition, no air con but the window opened so it was fine

Hotel was O.K. because we were assigned to a room with no windows. I was told that we had the only room with air conditioning. No other rooms were available. Their season didn't start for another 8 days.

The location was very good. The weather was very hot, and each room should have a fan in it. There were small black ants in the kitchen, but overall the stay was comfortable.

Nice location. The room that they gave us is way too hot....its facing the sunset. We have had two electric fan running all night.

We had a good stay in Oslo but an apartment in the middle of the building with the only window looking out into a hallway reduced the experience. We could not see any need for that window except as a fire escape.

This is very much budget accommodation

As per the title this is very much budget accommodation.
I had to be moved from the first room due to an overpowering smell of cat urine. The second room was better but not that comfortable
If you need a very cheap place to stay in Oslo this is fine
Breakfast selection was ok and good value for money by Norwegian standards
Staff not great
Hotel and room were clean and not in that bad a condition
I won’t stay again as too basic for me for business and wouldn’t consider this for a couples or family break either.

Adventures in a post-modern viking world

The good:
Excellent service and the rooms are located outback of the reception area ie like an apartment. The chief at the lobby restaurant was very kind and make great food (it was Norway expensive though).

The bad:
The surrounding area was under construction and their was graffiti on some of the surrounding buildings. I'm sure in 6 months it will be a very nice area though.

Interesting:
Across the street is a Thai massage studio. It was interesting explaining what it was to my 9 yo...

The best place for me to stay in Oslo.

We could come and go, the room was clean, quite, bathroom big, warm but could have been warmer on a cold winter's morning. Altogether very good. Centre of Oslo was easy to get to either by bus or t- banen.

Great accommodation within easy reach of the city

This accommodation was very cheap for Oslo and perfectly serviceable. My girlfriend and I had absolutely no complaints at all and would definitely stay here again considering the price.
The tube station is a couple of minutes walk away: you are two stops to the city center which takes a few minutes. We never have to wait more that 7 minutes for any train or bus while in Oslo. On the few nights we walked home was only about 15 minutes once you knew the route.
The apartment had plates, eating utensils, basic cooking utensils, glasses, a pot and a frying pan etc. There was a fridge and washing facilities so you could cook a basic meal (spaghetti bolognaise for example) and wash up no problem.
There is large supermarket close by as well a bakery, carry-out food shop and restaurants. This is actually on the way out of the tube station on your way to the apartments if you walk through the plaza. The other exit from the tube station takes you past the supermarket.
The accommodation also has free WiFi which works well.

Everything was fine except....

Clean rooms, good location, helpful staff.....except the guy at the desk put us into a cab with his meter on. We had wanted the fixed fare to the airport. We suspect there was collusion. When the meter hit 1200 we started arguing with him. When it hit 1700 he turned the meter off to placate us, but we didn't pay that. It was not a nice way to end our trip. Even in Norway, you can get dishonest cabbies, and I'm unhappy that the hotel put us in that cab.
