This stay was incredibly disappointing. We fell victim to Hotels.com's vibrant lighting and spectacular photos that made us believe that would be our room. We are incredibly mistaken. The area the hotel is located is sketchy with homeless people and drug addicts close everywhere. The room was severely outdated and sub par. Dirty walls, scuffed floors, even the chair in the room had no padding in the seat. The only redeeming quality about the property was the stunning pool and lounge area. That was truly remarkable. Asides from that, the experience was pretty upsetting. We are typically budget travelers and manage cost based on safety, location, and price. Occasionally, we splurge. This was our splurge. Unfortunately, we paid a bit more for a trashy hotel that does not deserve a spot on hotels.com's website. I wish I could be refunded for the time and experience. Nice staff and fabulous pool but beyond that, The Stanley leaves very little to be desired. Save your time and money and go elsewhere!

Reviews weren’t accurate. Very small rooms, tired finishes needing an update, not super clean, and the sound insulation is awful. We heard younger people screaming & laughing all night long. Mostly from lobby area but we were on 5th floor. Difficult to get any sleep without ear buds. The pool area on roof looked pretty good but it is somewhat small and was always packed with people so we never even tied to use it.

A great place to stay in the center of Athens, with views of the Acropolis. Metro stop a one-minute walk away so no need for a car (easy 45 or so minutes from airport). All of the major attractions just a few metro stops away (or walkable). Beautiful rooftop restaurant and pool. Excellent breakfast. Would highly recommend.

Pool area had a great vibe. Not sure why other reviews said not in a good area. We didn’t have any issues. Yes there are a few unhoused people, just like in any other city. Should have your wits about you in a strange city, just common sense. Beautiful hotel. Great food. Friendly and helpful staff. Recommend this property.

The hotel was spotless and the roof pool a godsend in the heat ,
It is a very fancy and slick area that I used daily and always found sun beds , the pool was never overly busy and was at times empty for solo swimming.
We had a basic room and as we were three people a little tight , but we were happy with it a great modern bathroom with monsoon shower , and daily house keeping .
The cafe outside the hotel was very good and quite cheap and we just grabbed breakfast on the go from there .
The area although rundown was not unsafe , we three woman walked home late at night with no issues .
The metro right outside or uber were both cheap if you don’t want to walk .
This hotel would be much more expensive if in another area of Athens , so enjoy all the hotel has to offer at affordable price .
More expensive room upgrades available for better views / bigger size bedrooms .

The room was clean and nice. Staff was helpful and bar had yummy drinks. The pool was very nice but a little crowded, we couldn’t find a place to sit down on our second day. Also our room was right below the restaurant so in the early morning we woke up to stairs being moved over and over again. In fairness we didn’t stay but two nights and the second one we had to get up early so we didn’t bother bringing it up to the staff.

The staff was very helpful and when we arrived after our cruise they checked our luggage, offered us time at the pool. Breakfast was typical buffet breakfast, lots of options. The rooftop restaurant and bar was very good, great food options and the service was very good, howeveer you can't beat the view of the Parthenon.

This is my 2nd trip to Greece and both times I've booked at The Stanley. The location is good and the underground is right around the corner from the entrance. There is a coffee shop and The Bread Factory on the same block.

We loved this hotel. From the second we arrived the service was excellent. They allowed us an early check in and we stayed in the wellness suite. The rooftop pool and restaurant were amazing-better than pictured with spectacular views. The breakfast buffet which was included in our price was incredible. Our room was very clean as was the entire property.

This was a great hotel first day. It is right next to a metro stop and easy to get places. The rooftop breakfast and pool were gorgeous and had great views. The breakfast was some of the best we encountered in Greece. The staff at the front desk was very helpful with anything we needed. Our room was totally fine however, I will say if you are a taller or bigger person, the shower is very small.

Stayed at the Stanley for my birthday. They sent a birthday cake to my room!!! The room was clean. The bed was too firm. Woke up with back pain. Staff was friendly. Didn’t make it to breakfast however, the rooftop restaurant was super pricey for a limited selection of meals. I liked the AC setup where I was able to adjust my room temperature. The hotel is right in the center of grabbing transportation!!! Several restaurants and cafes along the streets. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to others. 😊

A hotel of two halves. The executive rooms are well-appointed and recently updated, the rooftop pool and restaurant are genuinely excellent, and breakfast offers a great selection. Staff throughout were helpful, friendly, and efficient. The executive lounge is beautifully designed but faces a busy roundabout and we never found a reason to use it.

The hotel itself is let down in places by tired décor in the common areas, but the bigger issue is the location. Metaxourgeio looks fine on a map but feels unsafe at night — derelict buildings, rough sleepers, and open drug use on the surrounding streets. If you enjoy walking to restaurants and exploring on foot, this is not the base for you. The metro station directly outside the hotel makes getting around easy, but the 20–30 minute walk to Athens’ better neighbourhoods and restaurants is not one we’d recommend after dark.

For those happy to metro everywhere, the rooftop alone is worth it. For walkers, look elsewhere.

In addition to an outstanding breakfast buffet, the facility was very clean. The staff provided a place for us to stow our luggage while we waited for our room to be ready. They assisted us in arranging tours that left from the hotel, and helped us find a larger taxi to accommodate our luggage when we left. The pool area was very beautiful, and there seemed to be adequate lounges provided. We chose a Superior Room, which had an extra bed. It was a tight fit for three people, but we managed. I would definitely return to the Stanley Hotel in the future.

The hotel is in a slightly rough around the edges area but it is next to a metro stop, plus you can walk to most of the central areas in about 20 minutes anyway.

We had a superior room so this meant breakfast in the upstairs restaurant overlooking the Acropolis...not bad I have to say! It was never too crowded up there, the food was good and well stocked too.

Best bit about the hotel though is the rooftop pool of course. Could have stayed there the whole trip! Bar prices are a bit expensive (€9 a pint) especially when compared to the rest of the Athens, but that is the only negative.

Rooms were also cleaned very well each day, plus reception dealt with our requests swiftly when needed. Would highly recommend!

Our stay at the Stanley was wonderful however we booked a standard room as we were only staying for one evening. It was clean. It was everything we needed, but it was in an older tower of the complex and I found that the rooms were a little bit noisy, not dreadful people weren’t partying, but noise did wake me throughout the night. I have stayed in the other part of the hotel and noise has never been an issue otherwise no complaints. Staff was wonderful. The breakfast is great and location is wonderful.

The buffet breakfast has so many top quality options and having breakfast with a view of the city including the Acropolis makes the start of the day so special. We also used the Metro which is just steps outside of the property. A great stay!

What I liked most about the property was the rooftop view. Besides that, there were no face towels. The power went out 3 times in the same night. The first was while I was on the elevator and had to get off and climb 9 flights of stairs. The 2nd time I was in the shower. There was only one USA outlet which was located in the bathroom. The king bed was actually two twin beds that kept separating from each other and this made it horrible to sleep.

They advertise a king sized bed - and charge additionally. There is no king sized bed. It’s 2 twins pushed together. It’s not even secured. I fell into the wedge. When I went to discuss with the staff about the room we booked - they showed me a room with a leak in the ceiling as a replacement. Incredibly rude staff. The hotel itself is in a bad area, we had to uber everywhere because we didn’t feel safe walking. With all that said, the view from the restaurant/bar up top is amazing and the breakfast was good. It’s not worth the cost.

Those hotel is well positioned in Athens and provides easy access to the metro. The rooftop restaurant, bar and pool have excellent views of the Acropolis and are an excellent facility. Our room was rather small but access to the club lounge was much appreciated. The balcony was a nice feature but spoilt by large amounts of cigarette smoke coming from other guests, which was most unpleasant. The food in the hotel was of a good standard but not exceptional. The breakfast layout was badly organised mainly due to poor siting of the coffee machines and the plate storage, combined with inadequate consideration of person flow through the dining room. The staff were generally very helpful and spoke good English which was much appreciated. Overall a good hotel in Central Athens but with some room for improvement.

Staying at the Stanley was lovely, the views were amazing, however sadly the Hotel across the way with its big Blue sign ruined the night time view.
The food was amazing too although it’s a shame that the room menu wasn’t available in the restaurant still really nice though.
The staff in the Hotel were very welcoming and friendly and very helpful nothing was too much for them, our rooms were always cleaned well and made tidy on a daily basis too.

This hotel should be rated as a 2 star hotel- DEFINITELY NOT 4 star!
Our room upon checking in was very loud and basic. We requested a room not overlooking the main traffic circle. We were moved to a room where the shower had no glass or any way to stop water from flooding the entire bathroom!

Btw- we booked an executive room! It was like a bad joke. Can’t imagine what the regular rooms are like.

When we called housekeeping for extra towels they never came.
The front desk staff is clueless. They acted like they had no idea about what we described!

The hotel overall is very outdated. And the neighborhood is not very safe. We learned from our local private guide that this neighborhood was good 20 years ago- but certainly not now.

The only plus is that it is next to the Metro.
We only stayed a second night because we had a guided tour the next morning!

Hotel was clean and very convenient with a metro stop out front. The cafe on the street was also very nice and we stopped there every morning. Staff at the lobby were friendly and very helpful. The only thing we didn’t enjoy was the food at the restaurant. I had the ribeye one night and the filet another. But we mediocre at best. My wife did not enjoy her meals either. We also found the restaurant staff to be not nearly as friendly as the staff at the front desk. Overall a good experience though and will recommend the hotel to others.

Check in initially went well. We were told we were given a room upgrade. The room was definitely not an upgrade!! The floor was under construction and the noise level was extremely loud! A lot of hammering and drilling. When we inquired how long the noise would continue, we were told it was from 9am to 9 pm. We asked for a quieter room and the front desk reacted with an attitude and our room was downgraded. There is no way the hotel did not know about the noise on this floor and they never seemed apologetic for assigning us to a room on it.

The breakfast was incredible; it was the best hotel breakfast we had in Greece. The hotel was very nice. There were reviews saying that it's in a somewhat sketchy neighborhood, but if you're familiar with cities, you'll be fine. The rooftop deck is very nice, though the pool is a little cold. We were very happy with our stay here. This hotel is also located right by the metro station, and an easy few stops away from the Acropolis. We also did the executive lounge upgrade and enjoyed getting the extra coffee and soda to help us get over jet lag. Overall, if I come to Athens again, I will definitely stay here again, we enjoyed our stay very much.

10 out of 10 for me & my lady friend we came to Athens & stayed at the Stanley hotel for 2 nights. No complaints at all, breakfast was good & clean area roof top with nice views as well. Room was nice and clean, front desk provided a charger adapter. We also called for an iron and iron board which was delivered to our room. Upon check out we were also able to leave our luggage seeing as tho we had a late flight & we were giving a late check out so we were able to enjoy the roof top and pool for the last day. Overall if I’m back in Athens Greece I’ll be staying at the Stanley again Thank you guys!

The hotel is suitable for a short city stay and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. They happily refilled the water and coffee in our room daily when asked. The breakfast had plenty of choice and was regularly replenished.

One large negative is the location. The surrounding streets are dodgy but the hotel is immediately above the metro station and the hop-on-hop-off bus stop. Despite being walkable from Monastiraki Sq and other prime tourist locations, I would highly recommend using transport rather than walking around the side streets, especially at night, or with children or if you are travelling alone.

The room was comfortable and spacious, particularly for a city hotel. The bathroom was compact but, if the door was closed, it would acquire the smell of drains. The gym is fairly small, with some equipment very close to each other - I had to synchronise my use of one machine with another visitor so we avoided knocking into each other - but it's fine if you are the only one in there. We ate in the pool bar for convenience before heading to the airport on our final day and sadly the food was disappointing, you can definitely eat much nicer food for less elsewhere.

Breakfast was amazing! The rooms are clean, but some areas of the rooms are very load the street over has a nightclub, and you can hear it very clearly when your windows are closed. Luckily, we asked to switch rooms and didn't have a problem afterwards

My wife, son and I booked the junior suite both prior to and after a cruise that left from the port of Athens. We stayed in room 900 which is a newly renovated room located on the top floor of the hotel adjacent to the infinity pool.

The Stanley is a newly renovated historic hotel located in central Athens. There is a subway station as well as hop on hop off tourist bus directly outside. Easy cheap access to tourist spots, airport, port.

This is the only Junior suite in the hotel, and its location offers views of the Parthenon in the distance as well as sweeping views of the city. The room has been newly renovated and is tiled throughout with plenty of storage and a very comfortable bed and pullout sofa. There is a narrow balcony with glass railings as well as a large private patio area accessed through a sliding door. The bathroom is very large and well-appointed with a large glassed-in shower. We were impressed by the welcome bottle of wine on ice and fruit tray as well as the free stocked mini bar.

The room included a full hot breakfast which is served in the roof top restaurant. The breakfast buffet was amazing and included Greek specialties, North American foods and specialty coffees. The restaurant has plenty of seating as well as a great balcony.

From 4-7 there is a \"happy hour\" for suite guests in the mezzanine lounge that includes beer and wine and light snacks. Was a great way to wind down from the day!

The staff throughout were amazing- Great stay!

I have stayed at Stanley several times since 2023. This is the first time I leave a negative review for the hotel because it's not the same good value hotel anymore.I was waiting 10 min to check in because the front desk person (Kostas) was telling jokes in German with another couple. They didn't offer any upgrade because there was no other room available even with VIP access. Across the street the Wyndham offer points for loyal travelers and it is much better value hotel.

A very good property could do with a refresh . Also some rugs in the room would go a long way . Rooms are very noisy so having carpets would be a good idea .

Only the rooftop pool looks nice.
The room is old. The mattress is very worn down, broken tiles, tiny shower with loose cover. The surrounding area is old, with broken buildings, unsafe to walk at night.

The breakfast was the best we have ever had! The staff is incredible. Our only issue was that our Executive Lounge card had to be reset every day to access the lounge which was a little annoying. Also, there is no full body mirror and no plug in the bathroom for hair tools. Other than that, it was great! Also, water bottles are 3$ each. We had to ask maintenance for AC help and the room was still pretty hot, it only went down to 18 degrees Celsius.
