When we got to our room we had to get the covers changed as they had blood in them. We had to ask for more pillows and the Duvet was to small as when one of us moved the other got all the duvet taken off them. The bed was also uncomfortable so didn’t sleep well. Didn’t appreciate getting woken early with other guests making a lot of noise in the hall way considering there were signs to say they were in a quiet room. Over all very disappointed with our stay, we have been coming to st ives for 20 years and always wondered what it was like to stay here

The staff was very helpful. However here are my concerns. Our room was very hot the mattress was hard. The operator for the hot shower water was very confusing for people who aren’t familiar with the UK design for the hot water operator. Also the soap dispenser fell off the wall in the shower.

Amazing 4 night stay at Tregenna Castle. Perfect location within easy (but steep) roadway through the castles woodland walk.
We paid extra for a sea view and it didn’t disappoint. Large room with comfortable bed.
Food was fab… Sunday roast was to die for.

I am extremely disappointed with the service provided. I booked a queen bed with a sea view through Expedia and paid an additional amount for this upgrade. However, upon arrival, I was allocated a room with a double bed instead.

After noticing the discrepancy, I contacted Expedia, who confirmed that my booking was indeed for a queen bed. I then went to reception to have the issue resolved. Despite this confirmation, the front desk staff maintained that the bed type was only available upon request and chose not to address the issue.

As this was a long-planned holiday for my husband and me, I did not wish to escalate the situation further at the time. However, the experience has left me very disappointed.

I would also like to raise a serious concern regarding how this matter was handled. I felt that I was treated unfairly, and the interaction left me questioning whether I was treated differently based on my race. This is a matter I do not take lightly and would appreciate it being reviewed carefully.

Overall, I am dissatisfied with the service received and would not recommend this property. I would appreciate your prompt response to this matter.

Outstanding property, very clean and well maintained. The staff were fantastic and nothing was too much trouble.
Food in the hotel was slightly expensive, but the food was very good and full of flavour. I especially recommend the ginger pudding with clotted cream. It was so light and delicious.
The grounds were beautiful and we even saw a tawny owl.
Highly recommended and we will return.

The heated pool was great but no good for toddlers as it was too deep. The staff were really accommodating which was helpful when traveling with small babies. Teh room was perfect for what we needed but the security light on the hall and the bedroom was so bright it illuminated the whole room which was annoying.

As a cornish resident we noticed a cheaper last minute deal through hotels.com . Excellent greeting at the gate, the chap gave us a map and a clear explanation of the grounds and access to parking.
We arrived a little early and left the car while then visiting the town and harbour. Walk down was simple enough. Walk back took a bit longer as a long steady hill.
Check in was quick and all staff were super polite. The room was really spacious and clean. Bathroom was large with a big shower. Only disappointment was no black out blinds or curtains which meant we were awake early.
Bar was nice although a little quiet. The grounds and other amenities looked really good. Lovely view of the harbour from the road around the castle. Didnt have breakfast so cannot comment.
Lovely stay. Will keep an eye out for future deals.

It is beautifully located hotel on top of a hill, with truly stunning views over the sea (if you have sea view room). The surrounding gardens are lush and very well maintained, adding to the overall atmosphere of the property. The rooms are comfortable and in line with the hotel’s category.

However, there were several issues during the stay that affected the experience. On one occasion, a member of staff entered my room without knocking while I was still asleep, which was quite uncomfortable, and no apology was offered. On another day, the room was not serviced at all, and on a different day the housekeeping was minimal — only the towels were changed, the bed was not even made.

In addition, the restaurant closes quite early, and breakfast service also finishes early, which may be inconvenient for guests. There are also no nearby shops or cafés within walking distance of the hotel.

Overall, the staff are polite and the hotel corresponds to its star rating, but housekeeping would certainly benefit from improvement and additional training to ensure a more consistent standard of service.

Perfect break. We love tregenna and have been going for 20 years. Staff are great, hotel and grounds are amazing and the pool is great fun with the kids (although I miss the sauna). I always enjoy eating a great vegan breakfast in the room we got married in. Nice walk to the best beach in town through the woodland walk. Hope to come again next Easter.

Rooms are dated. Car park requires that you have to drag your suitcase through gravel. Staff except for the bar very dismissive. We ordered a take away mean from the bar to take back to our room as there is no room service. The restaurant didn't tell the bar it was ready for 30 minutes, subsequently the food was cold and dry. Nothing good to report other than the grounds are well maintained ant the views are spectacular.

I had a really enjoyable stay in a spotlessly clean, cozy and quiet room. I was very pleased with the accessibility of my room and impressed with the size and cleanliness of the bathroom, everything was spotlessly clean and the room was warm, comfortable and smelled fresh.
The hotel staff are friendly and welcoming and exceptionally helpful.
I particularly enjoyed being able to wonder around the hotel grounds which are beautiful and have an almost magical secret garden feel to them, even in winter. Would love to revisit again to see how everything looks in different seasons, particularly the stunning views from the hotel grounds.
I loved my stay here, will definitely stay again and would highly recommend to anyone.

We had the family two rooms. The rooms were clean. The reception and breakfast staff were very professional and helpful. We stayed 2 nights with breakfast, which was a good quality and plenty of choice. The hotel was very niecely decorated for xmas. We asked for an extra item and it was delivered by the housekeeping team, who also cleaned the room mid stay plus changed couple of towels. They did not have to do that. We also needed an extra remote control for the 2nd TV and this was promptly delivered by the maintenance team. The rooms were quite warm, too warm at times but you could open the window or switch off the radiator if too hot. The only criticism I have is that of an inside swimming pool, the water was cold, heated but needed extra 2-3 degrees, but they closed the pool for maintenance now so perhaps thats why the water was not prioritised to be heated more. There was a friendly employee at the entrance barrier to the hotel.

Didn't get a room in the hotel, which we were hoping for. Stayed in the courtyard. Didn't suit our needs as much as we wanted. However, the staff are so friendly, helpful and attentive we couldn't give less than the four stars. The only reason not 5 stars is we really didn't like the pool area and the children didn't want to go back in. Big shame as there isn't much else to do in winter in the rain. The food lovely and the staff here excelled in being helpful and accommodating with the children who don't like noisy crowds.

Room was warm in late Sept, even with windows open, so wish room had a fan. A mini-fridge would have been a great addition.

Setting and hotel was nice and had character and charm and staff were friendly.
However, the rooms were not sound proof by any means and you could hear the people above using the toilet and ever footstep of others on the creaky floorboards and even conversations of other guests in rooms above or below.
The gym was terrible, a tiny room which no more than two people could ideally be in at one time and very limited equipment or space to do a good workout. Very disappointing. It also needed a good clean.
The gardens and woodland surrounding the property were beautiful and the view was spectacular.
The food was nice but expensive.

The pool & changing room were grubby & uninviting.
On one occasion our room was not serviced,despite being requested before our stay.
There is no fridge or phone in the room.
Overcooked chicken in the restaurant-inedible but no reduction made on the bill.

A few thoughts about my stay….

Nice unit but the maps to the accommodation could be clearer as we wandered around awhile trying to find our unit. I also think you should have concrete paths not pebbles at it is very hard to drag suitcases through pebbles. The dinner/breakfast at castle was lovely. Olives bar was great.

Property was not as clean as before, the sofas were dirty and very old looking, when moving them we found blood on the floor, so was not impressed with that. Shower room downstairs light only stays on for a couple of minutes, not good when you are showering in the night as you can’t turn it back on as it’s a on a sensor, so having to get out of the shower and move around in the dark is not good.

Wonderful room, excellent views, lovely pool

We had a lovely double aspect view of the sea and St Ives from our spacious hotel room with queen bed, the outdoor swimming pool was very clean. The grounds with flowers and trees were well tended and extensive. Plenty of fruit and cereals if you did not want a fried breakfast, but only sliced bread or small croissants, one type of mild cheese or ham. Also no fridge or water in the room.

Booked a family room and was initially put in a very small room with rickety bunk bed for 11 and 3 year old. Bed for adults was in poor condition with springs sticking out. Cara on reception was fantastic and managed to sort us a bigger family room which didn’t have these problems. Seemed to be a real lack of parity between the family rooms despite it being the same price - as there were even bigger rooms than the one we ended up in. There’s lots for the kids to do. We enjoyed breakfast and the food we had in Olives and Godrevy restaurant but a lot of the facilities are old and a little tired. Especially the rooms and indoor and outdoor pools. This hotel has the potential to be absolutely amazing. Location wise it was perfect.

I would strongly advise people to check their reviews before staying here , we were given a room in the main hotel , from the start we had issue with the window not opening , the lady from the reception sent someone and he managed to open it, it was sitting on one hinge barely opening and looking unsafe , the toilet was disgusting, fixtures with mould, one tap broken , no water pressure , the fan extractor wouldn’t work , the door doesn’t have a lock so anyone can come in and out as they please , uncomfortable beds, I had the worst night sleep, overall I would never come here and again or recommend it to anyone . The lady from the reception dismissed me from the first day , on the check out someone else asked us how the stay was and we have told him and she came in the middle of the conversation saying that there is nothing wrong with the room , I have pictures of everything and they still dismissed me, they lack customer service skills
