Great location! Walkable to coffee shops, galleries, restaurants, just steps from the hotel. Comfortable king bed and fairly big modern bathroom with a big walk in glass shower, lots of hot water and good shower pressure. A blend of historic architecture and modern design. We really enjoyed staying at the Whitlock and being so close to Tanglewood for the show we saw on Saturday night.

Perfect location. No greeting staff - all remote; which was weird but I also kinda liked? Lovely saf, clean and in town - very walkable village! So as a solo traveler it was great. But kind of weird not seeing people onsite. I finally saw a staff member on 2nd day and got help on not having to move my room since I had extended my stay by one more day.
Would I go back? Definitely!

When we checked in there was human hair in the bed sheets and a stick red substance on the floor and bureau. The staff quickly tried to correct the situation with new sheets while we left the property. When we returned we learned that they used the incorrect size fitted sheet but when we realized it it was too late to say anything. We enjoy Lennox and will be looking at other lodging options.

The location of this hotel is excellent, right in the town center of Lenox, close to all the shops and restaurants. I was a little concerned initially about the reviews I read regarding the level of cleanliness of the rooms which I am extremely particular about. The room was very clean so maybe the issue has been addressed.

Communication with staff via text which normally would be concerning was also very prompt and quick. They respond to texts right away and always very kind so shouldnt be a concern for those who are concerned that they are not speaking to someone in person directly.

Will definitely stay again if the rates are reasonable.

We had a late arrival, which worked out with self checkout. Left the next morning after 9am, didn't see a single staff member during our whole stay,
Was a bit of a challenge getting luggage up to the top floor without an elevator but we probably should have realized that when we booked.
Nice property, nice big room with separate area for visiting.
TV channel choices, which included streaming services, was excellent.
Overall a good experience, just didn't see anyone there.

When we stayed there it was off season and there were very few people staying there. Checking in was very different as Expedia told us to do one thing and the hotel had other directions. We finally got in touch with an employee who was very welcoming and informative. The outside doors remain unlocked 24 hours so the only locked door was the room we stayed in- apparently it is a safe place. The room was beautiful, bed very comfortable and bathroom clean and modern.

There was little about my stay at Whitlock that was pleasant or comfortable. Beginning with the inability to reach the front desk via phone prior to booking, my experience was frustrating at best. Upon arrival to my room I noticed an alarm beeping outside the guest room door. When I inquired at the front desk and mentioned that sleeping would be a challenge, I was told it would be fixed within the next 2 to 3 days. It took an additional 3 visits to the desk to have it finally addressed and fixed just prior to 10pm. The room was unbearably hot- heat blasted out of the mini-split even though it was set at 62. I was told that it was a common complaint from other guests and there was nothing that could be done about it. It was suggested that I open the window (in January). I spent the night alternating between turning off the unit until it got too cold and then turning it back on and opening the window. The room I stayed in was an ADA room, with access directly from the outside. The key I was given did not work, my inquiry about the issue was shrugged off. Basic HK details were lacking - among them was only a very thin "comforter" on the bed, the carpet had barely been vacuumed, and no hangers in the room. I understand that the Inn is now under new management, and while I'd like to place blame on the front desk team, it was abundantly clear that training and support is greatly lacking and that in the case of The Whitlock, profits far outweigh basic hospitality practices.

We made the mistake of staying here when traveling, because there was a snowstorm and the driving became unsafe. It is a little mom and pop sort of place, and there was no front desk staff, no morning coffee, no one to shovel the walk ways...no food. I guess we should have stayed at the Holiday Inn. Whoops.
On the other hand, the room was quaint in that old New England style, and clean and the place was quiet!

We had a lovely stay at The Whitlock. Staff were friendly and helpful. We booked a Deluxe King and were given room 15 on the second floor. The room was quiet and spacious. Lots of room to move around with a separate water closet/toilet room and a soaking tub and shower on the opposite side of the room. The tub was delightful to soak in. We had takeout in the common area downstairs and found the Grab and Go market to be quite useful. At night, the inn was peaceful. I only wish it hadn’t been so windy so we could have enjoyed the patio outside.

I really enjoyed our stay at The Whitlock and would stay there again.

The staff were very nice, however, our room wasn't. The heater never came on and it wasn't until the morning we were leaving that it started to work. This is after several times of letting hotel staff know there was a problem. The hardware in the shower was terrible. Rusty and the bottles of shampoo and conditioner were awful. The inside of the shower had brown lines along the floor and looked old and rundown.The hotel rooms need to be upgraded and refurbished. The continental breakfast was poor with cold rolls. The hotel is very cute and there is much opportunity to step it up.

Overall, the place could use some sprucing up.
I had read a review that mentioned a few things to improve on and ironically all these seemed to have been corrected. At least in our room. Maybe the Inn improved on these having seen that particular review.
There was nowhere to hang any clothes or jackets. A couple of hooks on the wall with some hangers would have helped. We were there during the week so the place was quiet but that also meant that the fire pit, the restaurant/lounge, the bar… weren’t “on”. It was starting to get cold so we would have appreciated having the heat on at all times. We didn’t have access to the controls and the heat was being turned off at times. When I asked for shower gel, the lady at the front desk seemed perplexed as she wondered why I wasn’t simply using shampoo or hand soap. They did manage to find me some sample size products.
Overall it was an ok stay but the quality does not match the rates. Lenox is cozy and central in the Berkshires. I hesitated between staying in Pittsfield, Great Barrington or Stockbridge. Lenox was the best choice.

Got an email the day before arrival telling us to register at sister hotel up the road; their staff sent us to the Whitlock to register; staff there kinda apologized; room was very small; split AC-heat system only gave us AC, but we needed heat; front desk said to give it time, then showed up 15 mins later to say the system only was for AC; they gave us heat, but we could not control it; went from too cold to too hot; the staff left around 7 pm (this was Sept 10) so we burned all night; came back from dinner and door was locked even though they insisted it would be open; called their emergency numbers and got no one, and no one ever called back; enough said.

I was in town to attend an inspection on a house we made an offer on in nearby Becket. The Whitlock was perfect for me. It was conveniently located, in town, close to dining, and with easy parking. The inn was historic, charming, and had lots of character. It was exactly what I was looking for. There is now staff available on premises from 7 am to 10 pm. I was able to check in on site. The outer doors were locked at night. I would definitely come back.

The inn is furnished with cheap, ugly furniture in depressing colors. Weekday coffee is limited to Keurig with dairy substitute--so bad it's insulting. Our room cost over $500 a day; other inns of comparable price are beautiful inside and offer better amenities. I will not stay at the Whitlock again.

The room was fine. A/C worked very well first night, but second night it was a sauna (didn’t change anything on controls). Check your credit card charges. We enjoyed our stay at The Whitlock. The hotel is very charming with a gorgeous patio which we enjoyed during the day and in the evening. Our room was beautiful and very tastefully decorated. They have clearly listened to customer feedback and addressed various issues that people have brought up in past reviews (there's a place to store toiletries in the bathroom above the sink, a place to hang clothes, and in-room temperature control). The bed and pillows were comfortable. Everything was very clean. The shower was a good size. Customer service was great. Check-in was easy. The walls are thin so you may want ear plugs if you're a light sleeper. There's also no breakfast, although they do serve coffee and tea in the morning. They used to have a restaurant on-site, but unfortunately, it's no longer operational, although it sounds like this is temporary and there are other places to eat within walking distance (there is also a proper bar on-site where they mix drinks). The location was perfect. A block away from the main strip. It was very safe walking around with no major roads to cross to get to the restaurants and cafes. Parking was free and easy to access. Overall, a great stay.

I was very disappointed at my stay at the Whitlock. First off you have to check in at a sister hotel down the street. No one was there when we arrived we had to wait 20 minutes just for someone to check us in. With the shower door shut the water from the shower got all over the bathroom floor. No matter how we adjusted the thermostat the room was freezing. The room was not thoroughly cleaned because I found about 6 dead bugs on the floor just under the bed. We only saw one young woman working there the whole weekend (she was lovely) but most of the time there was no one there it felt like the hotel was running itself. For the amount of money this is a bad experience. The only positive is the location.

Great location near downtown. But the rooms are bit depressing with their spartan furnishings (not even a coffee maker) and cracked paint. The walls are so thin can hear next room conversation. The public "lounge" is similarly dark and uninviting--no surprise that nobody ever goes in.

Look elsewhere if you want a good night’s sleep

The bar, restaurant, sitting area, and outside dining areas are fabulous. The lobby is a tiny little room and, when you enter, the desk clerk’s back is to you. No more than three people can fit in there at a time, and that is crowded. The bathrooms, walls, and ceilings look to be recently painted, which makes the old carpeting that’s still on the floor in the hallways and bedrooms look even more worn. The worst part was that you can hear every, and I do mean every single sound, from the rooms beside you.

Its location was good since it was close to a lot of dining options. The locals are quite friendly. It was a little odd having to check in at a different location and then go to this hotel. It was also a little odd having a keyhole that you could look into the hallway and vice versa. The wifi is very spotty so watching a show is a little frustrating. The rooms are tight but clean. It was very cold when we walked in and after talking to the property manager, the radiators turned on. However, they never turned off and there was no thermostat in the room. During the night we needed to open windows and turn on the AC to be able to sleep. Not a good night of sleep.

This hotel is a bit weird in that it doesn’t really feel much like a hotel. There’s no reception (there’s 1 person that sits in a room), there’s no room service, no fridge, rooms feel very old and dated, continental breakfast is in another hotel so you have to walk over for it. Just bizarre all around. The only positive was that it’s in town and walking distance from everything but not worth the money.

Price of an upscale hotel, but feels like a cheap fake. No amenities, no bathrobe and no one to call to ask one, no soap tray in the shower (so I’m paying 500$ a night to pick ho the soap off the floor), the walls are paper thin and you can hear everything, there were wholes in our walls, the door to the bathroom somehow had a huge gap from the floor as if it were a stall so you could romantically hear everything going on, the shower looks like it has marble tiles but it is actually cheap plastic. Overall, I would not complain if it was a regularly priced hotel, but they advertise and price it as an upscale hotel while cutting corners on their budget and that feels like a rip off.

Lovely hotel but needs some improvement.

Great location, very responsive staff & very clean. Fire Pit outside made a nice place to sit with a drink & enjoy the beautiful weather.
Room was small, paint on bathroom & closet doors was peeling, bathroom plug socket not working which made drying my hair difficult & the TV reception was awful. The manager did improve the TV situation when my husband complained.
Overall we had a nice stay.

The room was clean overall. Bed was comfortable. Make sure you ask if you are on the second or third floor as the stairs are steep and you need to be able to handle your own luggage. The outdoor area was delightful….a real plus for the inn. Our rate was to include breakfast but that was not at our property. Seems that would be an easy thing to do. Also, you at least need a coffee station so we can service ourselves versus bothering the staff at the bar.

No soap..trashcan..lights out in ultra tiny bathroom . apple tv like 2000 ipod.. Mirror simply leaning on the mantle unattached. No clock..no room service of any kind.. And. The price for ghe room with no closet or hook to hang a cost was far more than it was worfh.

The renovation is very nice. The service is mediocre. this is the second time I’ve stayed there and there is no coffee service in the morning as promised. The AC in our room didn’t work.
