New owners and not ready to open. No service for breakfast( as advertised..gave us a card for a local deli which was overwhelmed ,no room clean up ( dirty linens on floor from last guest,)or towels…told us to go in to the linen room and help,ourselves. Our registration wasn’t in their computer…fortunately we had a copy.I understand that it’s hard to find help but we were completely on our own and had paid over $300. Per night.

The inn is a wonderful and charming grand home in Lenox. The interior has warm furnishings and the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Dinner was outstanding and the wine list had many examples of fine wines from Israel. Breakfast the next morning featured a sumptuous challah french toast souffle.

We were disappointed in the outside appearance of the property. It badly needed painting, and the entry porch was unkempt and unwelcoming.
The room itself was also very tired....we appreciate that an historic Inn should retain period features,but decoration should be of a superior quality and kept fresh.The curtains were appalling...just an unlined piece of simple cotton .
However the public areas were quite elegant, and breakfast was very good.

I was pleased with the cleanliness and accommodations. There was a small refrigerator and coffee maker, as well as a bathrobe and slippers for two. The breakfast was excellent with a variety of choices such as cheese, loaf bread, homemade granola, fruit and yogurt and a hot meal of your choice.

We tried very hard to like this place, but just couldn’t. There were just too many things wrong with it.
We love discovering new Inns and B&B’s, and have stayed in a lot of them. We’re not fussy travelers, but when you’re shelling out nearly four hundred a night, one would really hope for a truly amazing stay. This certainly was not.
The outside needs a lot of maintenance and updating. See photos.
We were put a room directly adjacent to the BAR, but were assured that it was soundproofed. It was NOT. We could hear every conversation and every drink being poured by 6 pm.
The room itself from very spacious, with a great gas fireplace. The bathroom also needed updating, and numerous ugly damp spots around the 80’s jacuzzi tub that you couldn’t pay us money to actually bath in. See photos.
The housekeeping was some of the worst we’ve ever come across. The bed was barely made, all wrinkled when we arrived back (photos)

When arrived, was surprised at lack of welcome greeting. Seemed distracted. Was more worried about carpet than helping with luggage. Reprimanded for not letting them know about allergies before coming. Food was not that good. We arrived at night, but hotel seemed to have an overall dark feeling, not bright and airy. Three-piece band in lounge seemed a bit over kill for size of place. Ask for glass a of water and was told to get it at water station.

We enjoyed a quiet winter weekend here and would highly recommend for any season. Walking distance to many shops and restaurants (their restaurant and lounge was closed the weekend we were there, unfortunately). Innkeeper gave us great recommendations and the place was just lovely and immaculate. A great place for a special occasion or getaway.

Awesome residence - room was wonderful (5 stars) even with the tacky electric fireplace. Really found that to be cheesy in a well decorated room. Could spend a few more dollars for a better looking fireplace.
Meals were a disappointment - especially the breakfast. For the price, a more home cooked option is expected and not cheese; toast; granola; and so reheated frozen cheese selection. Even the Sunday breakfast was a disappointment - you can't cook eggs and leave them over a warmer. Was definitely expecting a cooked to order egg or pancake option and that was lacking.
Dining also wasn't up to par for the price. For convenience sake it's acceptable but the price should reflect that. Would definitely not recommend eating there and enjoying the other dining options Lenox has to offer.

We had a comfortable stay at this beautiful inn. The hosts were very accommodating about my lactose intolerance and made 3 different kinds of non-dairy drinks available to me--any one of those would have been fine. They offered live music in their sitting room on Saturday night which was delightful. The restaurant food was enjoyable, too.

We arrived on a Monday, knowing that most of the area's performance venues would be dark. So after dinner, we returned to Gateways Inn for the \"free music,\" planning to enjoy an after-dinner drink and a little light entertainment. We ended up staying for 2 hours, because the group of 3 performers, plus 2 guest soloists, was spectacular. For the rest of our stay we returned after all of our other performances to catch more of the live music.
The location right off downtown Lenox is pleasantly quiet, yet a one-block stroll from Church Street. From here we also had instant access to the roads we needed to easily get anywhere, from Great Barrington and Jacobs Pillow to North Adams and Williamstown.

All rooms in this inn looked wonderful from the hall except for mine. It was called the Puck room and seemed to be a wide place in the hall walled in. It was about 7 feet wide with a bed up against the wall. I could touch the door from the bed. THe bathroom had a tiny bar sink. There was no sound insulation so I could hear everything spoken in the downstairs lobby plus the music in the bar was not muffled at all. The room seems to be directly over the kitchen so all the odors rose to thel Puck's level. Now I know why it seemed to be a bargain. I will not stay here again unless I request any room but the Puck.

Grand Hotel Experience
Everything about our stay at the Gateway Inn in Lenox, MA was more than satisfactory. The one hundred year old building has been refurbished and tastefully decorated in keeping with the original architectural style of the building. The rooms are light, airy and spotless each with it's own updated bath. The beds are comfortable and the linens and spreads are in keeping with an eclectic and homey style. Breakfast was plentiful, varied and delicious as was dinner in the main dining room. The staff were pleasant and helpful as were the inn keepers. We felt like guests in the home of a friend during our stay rather than being in a commercial hotel venue. The inn is conveniently located to the center of town as well as to Tanglewood. We look forward to a return stay in the future.

Never Staying Here Again
The Inn keeper greeted us by scolding me for booking through Expedia because they take a 30% commission from him. Question: Did you want us at your inn? Get the chip off your shoulder and understand that you are there to serve your guests not give them advice about the best way to book a stay at your inn. Next time we're in Lenox, which is often, we will NOT be staying with innkeepers who see fit to insult their guests upon arrival.

Very quaint, good food but, needs adeep cleaning
The location and quaintness of the Inn was great. The inn keeper was very friendly and helpful. My only complaint was the size of our room was so small it should have had a full size or twin bed in it not a queen. Also the carpets had stains by the side of the bed that looked bad.

Great Location central to all interesting destination in the Berkshires. Lot of restaurants an d shopping within a short walk. The GAteways was the Procter (Procter & Gamble)family \"Summer cottage\" It is a victorian mansion more then a cottage. Our hosts, Eran & Michelle, were friendly, informative and very helpful. Call them directly and get the larger rooms.

Beautiful, historical inn in the heart of Lenox.
We had a wonderful stay at the Gateways Inn in Lenox. The Inn itself is beautiful and the service from the owners and staff was top notch. There is a lovely bar with a very cool bartender and piano bar entertainment at night. The homemade breakfasts were outstanding. The Inn is walking distance from all the shops and restaurants of downtown Lenox and just a mile or so from Tanglewood. We'll be back!

We loved staying at the Gateways. We have stayed there in the past. The new innkeepers have made many improvements. They converted the former dining room into a piano bar. It has a far more welcoming feel to it. I recommend it highly!

Classic Elegance and Hospitality at its Best
I honestly don't know how anyone could rate a stay here less than a 5. We checked in and were immediately greeted warmly by Inn staff. Check in was seamless and we were shown to our room. We stayed in the Miranda...WOW! Our room was spotless, well appointed, and absolutely inviting. After settling in we explored the Inn and were impressed with how absolutely beautiful it was. The bar area, piano lounge, dining area...all absolutely gorgeous with a sense of nasatalgia, luxury, sophistication... without the stuffiness. Although the Innkeepers were not in town, we look forward to meeting them during a future stay. There is no doubt the Inn was left in very capable hands. The Inn, with off-street parking, is conveniently located in Lenox within walking distance to the historic downtown. From the working gas fireplaces in the room, to the breakfast, nothing was left out. We have stayed at a couple other places in Lenox and this is by far the best yet...we undoubtedly will be back very soon, especially during the busy Tanglewood season.

The innkeepers were way too intrusive in terms of asking private questions of us during our brief one night stay. Also, the room we stayed in on the ground floor was VERY drafty in the bathroom and noisy...but it can be expected in the wintertime with such an old, colonial property. Still, their intrusiveness was unpleasant, not warm and welcoming. Otherwise, great breakfast, set up and charm.

Cozy B&B In a Great Town
I went here with my boyfriend to spend the night before Cross-Country Skiing in the Berkshires. The B&B is beautiful, cozy, and steps from Lenox town center. We had a great night in the town and an amazing breakfast in the morning before going to the Hilltop Orchard about 10 minutes away for a great day of skiing. Would definitely go back.

The inn itself was pretty and you can't beat the location to downtown Lenox! The room was okay, and that's it, okay. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and when turning over in bed it was loud...whatever sheets/mattress cover they used was far from what we would have expected. The service was good but it seemed that the innkeepers were everywhere you turned striking up a conversation. I understand that some folks might consider this a plus but we prefer to walk in anf out of B&B's without having to let someone know our plans. On a good note, the food was great!

Lovely Stay in the Berkshires
I recently stayed at the Gateways Inn for the first time and I am enchanted! Stepping into the lobby is a step back in time. Victorian architecture and detail abound. Each room is named for a Shakespearean character. My room was clean and beautifully appointed. An in room refrigerator disguised as a piece of furniture... I almost missed it. My room included a Keruig coffee maker and cozy robe. The bathroom was large and had every ammenity I could ask for, including make-up remover wipes. The large piano bar featured a clarinitist who was top rate and a special menu. The breakfast was included: homemade granola, a strata with goat cheese one morning and a fritatta the next, cheeses, fruits, homemade breads and rolls, yogurts, coffee, juice. Everything was delicious. The service was attentive without being intrusive. I will definitely return to the Gateways Inn.

Charming Inn, Great Location
The inn is under new ownership, and it seems to be in capable hands. A very nice room, and you can walk to everything in Lenox. It is also centrally located for excursions in the area. The staff was extremely helpful and attentive. The Inn seemed more like a small boutique hotel than a bed and breakfast. Being Lenox, of course, it doesn't come cheap, but it is a nice treat for a special occasion. If you are a meat lover, however, you won't find any included in the extensive breakfast offerings.

Incredibly Well Taken Care Of
I recently had the joy of spending 6 nights at The Gateways Inn. Michele & Eiran Gazit have such pleasant, cheerful, positive and friendly dispositions. Michele provided the most delicious breakfasts and in an incredibly flexible manner. I'm still thinking about her homemade granola. The whole grain organic blueberry pancakes were pretty amazing too. Mmm! While I was there I needed to sign some paperwork and have it faxed back and forth for a loan approval. The Eiran and his staff were incredibly professional and amazingly helpful with the process. I was worried that it would be difficult but they made it smooth, simple and stress free. I felt so well cared for and so comfortable that I am returning in May. It is without hesitation that I recommend The Gateways Inn in Lenox!

Extremely Disappointed!!!
The Inn is curently undergoing a change in the management and it is painfully clear that the owners know nothing about the hospitality business. The common rooms are run down, the smell of the entire hotel is a combination of mold and paint fumes and the breakfast was inedible (we ended up going to a local restuarant after the first morning). I'm sure that the new owners will blame everyting on the previous owners or that they are remodeling but they should be ashamed of leaving the doors open and charging full price for a horrific hotel experience. There are plenty of nice B&Bs in the area - don't waste your time or money here!

Wonderful stay
As someone who prefers B&Bs vs. traditional hotels, I have seen my share of good and bad B&Bs. The Gateways Inn in Lenox, MA was one of my most memorable stays. The room was clean; and the service was excellent from when I walked through the door with the entire staff being friendly and attentive, to when I left. I stayed mid-week when there were vacancies and received a free upgraded room upon arrival. I do plan on visiting the area again come summer, and will definitely seek to stay again with Michele and Eiran.

Beautiful B&B under new ownership
The Inn is lovely and the new owners could not have been more hospitable. However, we were very disappointed to arrive and find that the bar and restaurant had been closed becuase they were under renovations. We were not notified nor had the website been updated prior to our arrival. Even this review site lists the former owners. Also, a suggestion to the owners, turn the heat on in the room before the guests arrive. As stated, the new owners were very accommodating and did all they could to accommodate us.

Not know what to give that certain someone, I decided a getaway to a nearby B & B would be a great unexpected gift. The choice of the Gateways Inn fulfilled that perfect gift that I was seeking. The Room was charming and the welcoming owners and staff made us feel right at home.

Let me start by saying that I have NEVER posted a review before online. However, I felt compelled to do so in this case. I will begin by admitting that the room was very clean, well kept and comfortable. The owners leave much to be desired. They have absolutely no personality and leave you with that uncomfortable feeling throughout the stay. The wife was a bit more friendly and helpful than the husband. He was very arrogant and pretentious and never even took the time or courtesy to introduce himself to us by name. We have stayed at a wide variety of inns over the years and this is certainly not one that we plan to revisit. The only case that I would even consider stepping foot back into that place is if new management was in place. It's a shame too because it's perfectly situated and has lots of character and amenities. Unfortunately, the owners are too arrogant and pompous to let anyone feel comfortable in there.

We had a lovely stay at the inn. I reviewed the dining as Met Expectations, because we didn't eat in the restaurant. The breakfast we were served was a fine continental breakfast. Our room was absolutely gorgeous, and was exactly the type of room we were looking for. We stayed in the Berkshire room, equipped with a fire place and a canopy bed. Unfortunately, the bed was old, extremely noisy, and very uncomfortable. My fiancé had trouble sleeping, and every toss and turn was squeaky. We were also able to hear the conversations of the diners during dinner hours. A lovely place, but I don't think we'll stay again

We recently stayed at the Gateways Inn for a birthday weekend getaway. We were greeted by the owners Fabrizio and Rosemary, who were welcoming and most helpful. The room was perfect, and our special birthday dinner at their restaurant was one of the best meals we've had in a long time. From the appetizers to the incredible chocolate almond tart, each course was delicious. The wine list was impressive, the service exemplary. I would recommend this charming and convenient establishment for your lodging, and most definitely as a must for dinner.

The heat was not on when we checked in and asked Fabrizio to put it on. He seemed bothered that we needed this done and made us uncomfortable. Dinner was good as expected and the waiter and service was good.

Fabrizio and Rosemary were the perfect host and hostess. We were greeted with a warm welcome and shown to our beautiful room. Fabrizio spent a lot of time with us giving us the history of the inn upon my request. He was patient with all my questions and recommended some wonderful places to visit around town. The inn was beautiful and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The food was magnificant! Rosemary seated us for breakfast and served us with a smile. I would highly recommend you stay here for the charm, delicious food, and friendly hosts! We will be back!
