The room was delightful. Check in was easy and fun. The man checking us in was fun to talk to. The room was fun, comfortable, and well apportioned. We really enjoyed our stay. The room was really close to the Metro and the Duomo. Perfect for seeing everything.

This is a great location for a weekend in Milan! It’s a bit noisy at night but there were earplugs in the apartment- so thoughtful. The apartment was very comfortable and well equipped and there’s even a small lift! Alfredo met us outside and was very helpful. We will definitely stay here again. Ciao!

Older property but the rooms have been updated. Reception area needs updating but that may be in progress. Antique elevator is very small but also unique. Staff was very accommodating in storing luggage and helping with transport to airport. Very short walk to DUOMO SQUARE and GALLERIA and Metro.

Lift can fits 2 people only and the so called receptionists available from the afternoon onwards only and technically, a lot stars less than what it seems. Room was filled with cigarettes smell and had to move to a smaller room which initially, was told not available even thought it is much lower rates. Was offered to move back to the originally booked room but no points of moving again.

The apartment was very clean and well decorated. All the necessary items were stocked, with ample amount of towels and comfortable bed. Although the unit was on the street, train noise was a minimum. Most importantly, the staff went out of their way to be sure we located the entrance and got checked in.

Great spot close to the Duomo and Galleria Vittori

This was a gem of a spot that filled our need for one night. It was in a great location, staff were friendly and helpful, and we were able to keep our luggage there after check out. The elevator is tiny (from 1930's) but we didn't have much luggage. Rooms were well furnished, clean, and it was nice to have coffee/tea available. They had earplugs available but we weren't bothered by the street noise. Would stay there again!

Maybe acceptable for young people in summer

The personnel was very friendly and helpful. The property is in a building likely older than 100 years. It advertises an elevator; however to reach that elevator I had to help my disabled wife to crawl up half a floor on treacherous steps to find a museum piece of a cute 100 year old elevator, allowing barely 2 people to squeeze in. Luckily, the very helpful personnel carried our multiple pieces of luggage up. The 2 rooms were very cold. The regular heater was defunct, instead each room had an electrical warm air blower . Since the walls to the outside were icecold it took over a day to achieve an acceptable temperature.

Very interesting and quaint little hotel. The room was large enough and the decor was nice. It had an original 1930’s elevator which was TINY but really neat and nostalgic. Be aware the front desk is just a small room inside the front door and it is not manned after hours, but when you check in, they give you a key and instructions on how to get in and how to use the elevator.

The location was great for proximity to the Duomo and the Metro. Would stay here again.

It would be difficult to find accommodation that is more central than this, a couple of minutes from the Domo Piazza. Considering the position of our room, on the main street side, it was surprisingly quiet. The staff were also very friendly and helpful.

The protected/listed 100 year old lift is tiny, but brilliant if you like quirky features.

This is a very cute room for the location and allowed us to see the local sites (El Duomo, La Scalla and Leonardo’s Last Supper) within walking distance. The bathroom was large, especially for Europe. The bed was comfortable enough too. However, the one down side was that the service didn’t leave extra toilet paper unless we asked, and when we did they were surprised we needed it

Overall check in was easy and pleasant. Location was amazing. Checkout was equally easy. There are steps up to the elevator.
Now about the elevator - it’s from early 1900s and definitely was scary at first but it worked fine.
Bed was super comfortable and the room was quite large.
Our biggest problems was the AC could not cool the room down.
The others included a toilet seat that was rickety. And water pressure from the shower was non-existent.
Overall, one for one night, it was fine. But thankfully we only stayed one night.

Comfortable sleep just steps to Duomo!

Excellent location and good communication with hosts. Bed was quite comfortable with a large bathroom area. Had a great sleep every night, outside noise was not an issue for us. Earplugs are provided if needed but windows are very good. Bedroom area has air conditioner but did not cool room very well. However understand it was extremely hot the 4 nights we were in Milan and A/C can only do so much. We had booked the White Room on hotels.com but upon arrival were told that hotels.com only booked a double room for us, not the White Room. A disappointment as not what we expected. When booking with hotels.com would suggest you confirm the room you have selected is what you will get. The apartment we were given was a lot smaller, no separate seating area, and lacked some amenities as advertised on a hotels.com such as coffee pods, tea, water etc. there is no washer or dryer. It would have been nice to have some additional dishes (breakfast bowls) as we did have some meals in room. Hotel did provide us with water when asked and the front desk staff were very courteous and friendly, helped with luggage up to room, easy check in and check out. Towels and garbage were refreshed/changed after 2 nights. Building is very old, with decor to match, quite quaint, like going back in time. The elevator is very small and of historic significance, very cool.

Air conditioning is pre programmed to turn off after few hours in the middle of summer.

Lift capacity is for 2 people only or 1 person and 1 bag.

We saw guests fighting with the staff every time we visit the reception.

Wasn't a great place to stay. Its was very old, with a tiny elevator that you could barely fit one person in with a small bag. Tons of stairs up to the apartments if you couldn't use the elevator. It was very hot outside and the AC in the room barely worked. It would randomly turn off by itself as well, so when you would leave for the day and return later, it would be a sauna in the room. The shower was also very weak. There was absolutely no water pressure, it barely dripped out of the shower head so it took forever to try to even rinse off.

Its a bummer because the 2 guys who worked there were very nice, but its was not a good experience. I would not recommend it to anyone. Try another place.

The accommodations were roomy, attractive, clean and best of all it was just steps away from the Duomo and the metro. Hassan was extremely helpful and polite. We had to arrive after check-in hours and he arranged to check us in close to midnight. I would definitely stay here again.

I give 5 stars for the location and check-in staff.
I take 2 stars away because I had to ask for the place to be vacuumed and for utensils to be supplied after seeing the room. The kitchenette was missing utensils and bowls, and a sponge to wash dishes (I had to buy at a nearby store). When I went to use the pots and pans to cook, they had white mold in the bottom (wouldn’t wash off) and then the one that seemed clean after washing had crud so stuck around the sides that even after washing, started to crust off once heated on the stove and into the food I was cooking (obviously had to throw that food out). The AC also would not go colder than 25 celsius, even though I selected the remote to be 21 degrees. Also, they do not change linens and towels each day like it said in the hotel information when booking. Oh, and check out is 10:30 am, not 11 am like it says on Expedia. They will then store your luggage for free up until 1 pm, but then charge 5€ after that time. Although there were negatives, you can’t beat the location!

Location is fantastic however the cost of staying here in relation to what you get is very very pricey. The apartment block is very old which is what you expect in this part of Milano however upon arriving the reception area is no more than 1metre by 1metre in a dingy little dark area and three men greeted us with no real clarification as to who there were. This block also runs a luggage storage area and there were suitcases absolutely everywhere, if you are travelling alone I would not definitely stay there.
There was no top sheet in the bed and when asked for a blanket because we were cold we were told that it’s summer now and all blankets are taken away, however he did go and find us one. Definitely not for children to stay, it’s quite scary.

The apartment is a little run down, but pretty spacious. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and made check-in easy. The apartment is in the middle of the downtown pedestrian area, so it’s pretty loud at night. The staff provided ear plugs, which were much appreciated. You can’t beat the location for access to shopping, museums, and the Duomo.

Enzo the property management was fantastic to deal with.
He was a thorough communicator throughout the whole stay, meanwhile the building itself was under going renovations.
As a first timer in Milan, it was hard to find, as their was no signage, and tucked away in a private off street setting.
Walk 50-100m, and you are at Duomo, a large tourist attraction, which has a taxi rank right there. Real convenient.
If I was to head back to Milan, I would make a booking at the same place. 👍

The hotel was impossible to find, undergoing internal construction, very noisy due to the trams running until late at night, I was charged for a second room because Hotels.com screwed up the booking and the rooms were falling apart with bookshelves hanging off the walls above the beds.

It was an overall good experience. Clearly the location with 2 minutes walk to piazza duomo is the big winner. Noisy at night and smallest elevator I have ever seen in my life. Clean and comfortable room. If you need service after 5 pm, nobody is there. Good luck.

Great location. But a hint - if getting a taxi from the station, just ask to be taken to Piazza Duomo to the taxi stand at front of Duomo. This is only a few metres to the apartment through alley opposite (use map). Better than giving exact address as hard for taxi to find. Tiny lift but thank goodness it was there as we were on the fifth floor! Great restaurants in near vicinity. We went on Last Supper, Castle and Duomo Tour which is well worth it. But get a cab to starting point as it is further than it looks on map.

Great place. Central location. Train noise.

The place was amazing. The location was fantastic, so close to Duomo and the metro stations. The accomodations were unique and interesting. The decor and design was very Italian. I loved the jacuzzi tub in my room. I enjoyed the older building and unique lift. The only downside was the street noise from the trolleys and buses that run by continually. There is nothing they can really do about that but they did provide ear plugs. If city noise bothers you this is an issue. Otherwise I would give it a 10 out of 10.

Location! And design.

We had an excellent time at ApartHotel dei Mercanti. The location is absolutely fabulous- right in the heart of the city, literally just steps from the Duomo. With abundant eating, shopping, banking and transportation at your fingertips, you can't find a better location.
The staff was fantastic, attentive, respectful and thorough. We did not want for anything.

Only a few tips to pass on to prospective guests:
- stairs, or a very small elevator: this is a historic building and originally designed without the conveniences of modern \"up and down\" movement. Meaning, you will either climb many stairs or take a very small elevator. For some, this is a non-issue. But for others, can be an inconvenience. We considered the steps a great way to burn off the calories from all the great food we ate!
- environmental sound: since you are literally right next to all this awesomeness, then there will also be a lot of outside noise, especially on Friday's and Saturday's. The hotel provides earplugs, but you might want to ask for a higher room .

Other than these 2 things, the style is modern and comfortable. We loved the design of the bathroom. and the kitchenette was super convenient. You won't be disappointed.

This place is not a hotel. It is a apartment in not a so good building. The location is not good. There is constant sound of train at night. The air condition does not work properly. We alway stay in hotels and this was a shock for us. The staff are nice and polite, but this should not be presented as a hotel. The location is in a bad part of Duomo. Please consider doing some homework before booking this place.

This place is just amazing overall!!! Best place we’ve stayed so far! The building was an old apartment and is fully renovated and very clean. The apartment that we stayed was very spacious, and it was one of the smallest rooms! It comes with kitchen which cane in very handy. The checkin was very fast and Alessandro was very friendly and efficient. The location is unbelievablely amazing! Right by the duomo!!!! You will love this place. We stayed for 4 nights and had a hard time saying bye to it!

Comfortable Apt with Superb Central Location

This place is a collection of small apartments perfectly located right near the Duomo. You literally take a right out the front door and walk maybe 100m and you’re at the Duomo plaza. It’s fantastic. The apartment itself was small but comfortable. There is free wifi that is nice. It is not blazing fast but gets the job done. The price was also quite reasonable for such a great location.

Convenient apartment by Duomo

LOVED our stay in this apartment literally steps from the duomo. The pictures you see is exactly what you get. Very clean and comfortable. I loved the modern bathroom. Very convenient with 2 sinks and plenty of counter space. Bed was comfortable, lots of space in the studio to put stuff on. Kitchenette with a small dining space - loved having access to a kettle and coffee maker. Housekeeper was friendly. Alessandro at the front desk was lovely. He gave us a warm welcome on the first day. Unfortunately he wasn't around when we were checking out so we left the keys and city tax in cash with a note on his office chair. Left a message for him via the booking site and he got back to us. I wish we were more clear on checkout times though. A little disconcerting to not find anyone there if we did have a problem during check-out.

It was a luxury staying here for 2 nights. Would stay again next time I visit Milan.

We booked for 5 nights mistakenly for January instead of February (pressed 1 instead of 2). Immediately tried to correct and requested a refund of 750 Euros. The hotel did not hesitate to slam the phone on our faces not before they shouted: You have to pay for your mistake!\"
And we say: our sole mistake was to book in a hotel of crooks!

Excellent location and tidy room

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room looked exactly the same as the advertisement pictures and were very tidy, modern and clean. The drawbacks were that there was no curtain in the living room which was used as a single bedroom with a sofa bed so it was quite bright during the night. Our room was facing the street so the noice of trams running through was very frequent. Overall it was a nice room, especially it's location was really good, 3 minutes to the cathedral. I can't ask for more at this price.

Wonderful location in a little piazza across from the Duomo. Easy walking distance to most of the sights we were interested in. Apartment was charming!! Reception staff incredibly helpful. Will definitely stay here again, we loved it!!!

AMAZING Location. Great value!

Centrally located... just a stones throw from Duomo and a short walk to Teatro alla Scala. Tons of easy transportation and dining options. Friendly staff. Since this is located in an apartment building, it was hard to find at first. Make sure to study the map prior to arriving. The apartment is spacious, clean and modern. The only negative is the street noise at night but the hotel does provide earplugs. Overall, a great stay!

Perfect! Clean, big room, comfy bed, great shower

The hotel was amazing, perfect location and super clean. The bathroom was huge, shower was great, bed was comfortable and all at an amazing price. I know I said it was clean, but this was the cleanest hotel of our 10 day stay in Italy. You walk out of the hotel and you are in the heart of the city.

If I had to pick a negative, it is that we only stayed one night ;-). In all seriousness, we don't have one real complaint with the hotel.

The only initial issue we had was finding it, but that is more of a google maps issue than a hotel issue. The door has a menu and a buzzer to call the front desk where they will check you in. They even let us leave our bags there for 3 hours before our check in time so we could walk the city.

Great staff, Double bed size questionable

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. However the bed size for 2 people is much smaller than you would expect from conventional hotels. The main staff member was able to assign a larger room after bringing it up sternly, but we may have been the lucky ones as we overheard another woman complaining on the phone about the same problem. Despite all this, it was a great location and highly recommended for single travelers.
I would advise any future guests to book a room with 2 beds in order to sleep comfortably.
