We had Pros and Cons with this property

Pros- Great location - Quiet - Comfortable bed - Old style apartment, but it is large with a great shower - Amazing views

Cons: Being called at 9:50 a.m. to see if we are checking out!

Not totally clean when we arrived (toaster out with crumbs, stains on the tiles, and drink dribbles on the wall), not a big issue to us, but might be to others

The apartment was well-sized and close to the beach with a pleasant pool area. Location was a short walk from the shops and restaurants at Surfers.
Unfortunately the apartment was not clean. When we arrived there was food and a pen lid on the rug, so it had clearly not been vacuumed. The inside of the fridge also had not been cleaned and there were food scraps inside. When we opened the dishwasher there was a live cockroach inside and another scurried across the kitchen floor. Glass doors and the balconies clearly hadn’t been cleaned in some time.
We raised the issue of cleanliness on check in and they offered to send someone the next day to clean the apartment. We chose to use the vacuum provided rather than wait a day. When we spoke to staff at reception the next day they acknowledged that there have been some issues with cleaning and gave us an email address to contact detailing our issues. We took photos and will forward these to the email address supplied. Decor in this apartment, which was sold as a superior apartment, was looking tired too and could use an update.

Some apartments are getting old and they look like it inside. The one we were looking in had terrible beds.
The staff are wonderful and the property is amazingly clean and quiet.

The room we stayed in was fine. It could use updated furniture. The cleaning was ok, the carpets need a deep clean and to be vacuumed. Over all it worked for us, and our budget. The location was great walking distance or an easy uber to many places. The pool and hot tub area was very nice. We had a washing machine that didn't work, they gave us a key to use a different room to do some laundry, that room was VERY NICE! And next day we had a new washer installed! We did wish we had a couple more rolls of toilet paper, a roll of paper towels, a couple of wash cloths for the bathroom, and garbage bags. Over all we were pleased and would recommend. It was loud (traffic and ocean) at night, so we needed a sound machine app.

Property location was great - the full view of the ocean was amazing! Fully stocked with cutlery & kitchen utensils - two sachets of laundry powder, dishwash & detergent.

Lounge area was great space! Rooms were ok too. The pool was fantastic!

For the price paid - on first night, the main shower head was leaking and the ensuite wasn't draining properly but property were quick to resolve next day.

Rooms need a refresh - esp the curtains. The bedrooms were so hot - we stayed as long as we could in the lounge. A/C in the rooms would make a huge difference.
The a/c in the lounge was in the wrong location.

Very good location. Comfy beds. Have a nice view of the beach which is just across the road. Less busy as it is approx 11min walk to Caville avenue. Has private parking.

Unfortunately, the place shows it age. The cleaners does a very poor job of cleaning and really has to step up their game.

Great location and property facilities

Its a old property, with all the things you need for the stay. Location is the key here, our room had 3 ways view to the ocean, suana and pool was available to use, so enjoyed the stay.

Cleanlinesswise it was ok, as there was beach sand on chairs and sofa.

The spa and dishwasher didnt work, not that we really needed it anyway.
But, for an older motel the room was pretty good freshly shampooed carpets, comfy beds,great view, and you can really open up the big windows to get that beautiful sea breeze in. Didn't even need air conditioning. Good facilities. Pool and bbq Areas are good.

My family and I had a lovely stay very comfortable apartment in a great location and we had amazing views, the only recommendation I would have is upgrade is needed for the apartment we stayed in just to freshen it up and there were a few items that had mould build up from wet areas that have not been dried properly example dryer and aircon other wise staff are amazing very friendly and helpful and the amenities were useful. I will say we booked online through a seperate company but I would love to book direct next time.

This property is located on the beach, the view and location are wonderful. We were on the 25th floor, which is very high, and not really for me. It was very noisy as the seals on the sliding doors did not fit securely, it was also windy so the doors/windows rattled continually. While the apartment had everything we needed, the oven, had not been cleaned in a long time, chairs were dirty, and we found condom wrappers under one of the beds!

The property was quite nice and had a great location, however, we booked here because a family member was running in the 1/2 marathon on Saturday and she needed to the benefit of the advertised facilities after the race. On arrival, we discovered that there was no access to the pool, sauna or spa area due to renovation works. Whilst we do understand that sometimes these works are necessary, there was absolutely no mention of these amenities being out of action on the site I booked the accommodation on or in-fact the official Focus Apartments website. We should have been advised of this before booking and been given the choice as to whether we still wanted to book the accommodation or not.

The apartment was okay, a little run down and dirty especially window and door seals. Bathroom was average, toilet seat in the ensuite wasn’t properly fitted. Wifi was weak and didn’t have any coverage in the ensuite at all. Otherwise the location was perfect and free carpark in the garage was a bonus.

RUDE FRONT DESK closed before 5 night manager RUDE

Staff as rude as they get. Front desk closed before 5 even though said reception open until 5 and took over 45 minutes to respond once I booked . The 2 bedroom and 3 bedroom we booked wrent worth it too noisy from road noise and rude staff night manager made it impossible to enjoy our stay.

You can tell the building is older as some of the areas ie the ensuite bathroom was old and tired.

We loved the location, the apartment (once we gave it a clean) was great. The views are stunning. The Wifi was excellent

Disappointing and average

A lack of maintenance and attention to detail in housekeeping led to a disappointing start to our holiday. Management's reluctance to address the issues compounded our satifsfaction. Granted it was the festive holiday week however the room advertised was not the room we received and if I was the owner of the apartment we were allocated I would be concerned about where my management fees were going. We accept the accommodation is dated but in desperate need of renovation to bring it to modern standard and expectations for value of money charged. Location and BBQ facilities were excellent however we would not stay here again.

I have stayed at over a dozen resorts and apartments in Surfers recently. The pricing for Focus fits the accomodation. It is a very good price for the proximity to the beach and cavill ave. Building is a bit dated, restaurant downstairs appears to have been under renovation for some time - this would be excellent if it reopened.

If you are after a family holiday with beach views, in a large apartment without spending a fortune this is a reasonable option. The balconies are very good for small children also which suited us with our 3yo.

Only real criticism was the beds need updating, both double beds sunk in the middle.

The apartment needs a good renovation. Hall ways are outdates and look like a scene from a horror movie. The rooms smelt really bad, and need attention to major cleaning as we had ants around the room. The dryer was extremely dirty with dust all around. Balconies seemed as though they havnt been cleaned for a few months. We had gaps around the windows with high pressure winds causing high pitched whistling sounds.

Pros? The reception staff were extremely lovely, security was helpful and helped us locate our keys during late check in. The spa was to die for with warm water and pool was warm for a cool day. The reception area looked very fancy and welcoming.

The apartment was very nice. The only issue was the bedrooms were not air-conditioned only having fans and with the humid weather and storms made for an uncomfortable nights sleep. The rest of the apartment was excellent including air-conditioning with all of the amenities you need to be self sufficient if you wanted to be.

Unfortunately the room was a bit tired with flaking paint and old fashioned bathrooms etc The staff were very friendly and accommodating and were very efficient in rectifying the minor matters that needed to be attended to. It was in a great position, just four streets away from Cavil Ave and right on the beach. The views were fantastic and I couldn't believe how quick the lifts were to arrive. Often you have to wait ages to catch a lift. Unfortunately on one t.v. and no air conditioning in our room but there were terrific balconies with extremely wide doors that opened up a lot and allowed the sea air to flow through. The beach was right across the road as were the surf life savers.

On the 25th floor the only way to access WIFI was standing with the front door open and the sliding doors are in urgent need of repair. Doors didn't close properly so sleeping was difficult.

Hotel is basic. Stayed in the deluxe apartments. Couch had a big tear in it. No a/c - just fans. Only one toilet roll in bathroom. No extras - for a week!!! Absolutely nothing extra in the rooms. Construction site next door so lots of noise starting from 6:30 in the morning. Unable to use pool during day because of the construction noise- the construction is right by the pool. On the plus side- right near the beach.

Water ran of hot water for the spa twice, Boards on the balcony, run down kitchen, repair men on the outside working on the balcony Saturday afternoon and 8.15am Sunday morning when we were getting ready to go out.....NO PRIVACY, NO WARNING...NOT GOOD ENOUGH. The room was advertised as 'superior'....the only thing superior was the view. Terrible...... would not recommend at all.

Was unaware at time of booking, hotel was undergoing renovations. Was only told on arrival that the resort pool would not be open through day only after 5pm at night. Holidaying in the school holidays with small children all they want to do is go swimming in pool. By the time it was 5pm day was cooling off. Never swam in pool during stay is it was to cold by this time.

Great location next to the beach and a short walk to cafes, restaurants and Cavill Avenue etc.
2 bedroom apartment was spacious, old but clean, all the kitchen, bathroom and laundry appliances and supplies we could want. We were really happy with the room.
There were renovations on for the Commonwealth Games so the pool, tennis court and gym were not available on weekdays between 7am and 5pm, however this seems to be common throughout the Gold Coast.
Staff were friendly and helpful.

Very very disappointed. I picked this property because of the Amenities - spa, pool, sauna, gym and BBQ area. We came up from Hobart to rest lay around the pool and spa. To enjoy the warmth 20 is just perfect.
We could only use the amenities for the full day on a Sundays other wise we had to wait until after 5pm. Because they were doing work to the outside of the building. If something fell it could hurt you or worst. It was noisy as well of a day from just after 7.15am At no time was I told this would be happening. This really ruined our relaxing holiday.
The unit smelt disgusting when closed up. (if the wall's and curtains were washed it would be fine) the air conditioner didn't work. The beds in the unit were good and the furniture was in good order and comfortable. The toilet seats had been wiped over at some stage with something that had eaten/melted the plastic. I was very disappointed with this property it made such a big in-packed on our holiday I feel we have been cheated.

One of our worst experiences

Horrible experience! Try to avoid them! Only positive sides were location, view and friendly staff. The building is very old, on our first day hot water pipe burst and we couldn't use our unit for a day. Instead of single bed they gave us doggy foldable bed. They don't provide fresh towel, toilet paper or wireless unless you pay extra. There is no guarantee for a parkin, Someone else may park in your spot and management just juggle around and offer you to find a parking outside yourself! Dishwasher didn't work! Air conditioning is just in lounge room so the rooms are generally hot and hard to get a sleep. Focus Apartment is a 2star accommodation!

The place was great although there is scaffolding which is not nice to look at -position on the beach and security is good. we had some
trouble as the lady that booked me in - gave us the wrong parking spot which when you're interstate driving a different car -to find someone was in \"your spot\" was confusing.and annoying.
That was sorted however when i rang and emailed about people drinking alcohol the next day at 6pm etc near the pool for hours and it wasn't safe to go the pool with kids-the after hours person said she would ring the caretaker - she may have but we saw no one thrown out of the spa area so if feel like i wasted my time, I would still stay there again as the views and the apartments were great-thank you.
