The room description says “water view” but there is none. The room must have been renovated last in 1950s. It’s very small and you can hear everything from the room above you, literally everything.

The inn was built in 1890 so it was well maintained for its age. It provided off street parking that was conveniently located by the locked door. The bed was small as well as the toilet, but the TV was new and the furnishing were vintage and beautiful. Breakfast was hot and plentiful in a nice sunroom.

This is a lovely B&B! My room was very nice and comfortable. The only downside was that it was close to the downspout and it was very noisy when it rained. It was otherwise very quiet. The location is great , it’s about 1/2 block to the beach. Very walkable to shops, restaurants and viewpoints for the sunsets.

I booked Gilbert Inn with a pretty simple checklist in mind: walking distance to both the beach and the convention center, a reasonable price, and breakfast included as a bonus. Somehow, it exceeded all of that.
The inn feels like staying in a beautifully cared-for historic home, with incredible attention to detail and spotless rooms. The staff were welcoming and helpful from the moment I arrived. I happened to visit during cherry blossom season, and the petals blowing through the property and across my car in the ocean breeze felt almost surreal. Pair that with one of the most gorgeous sunsets I’ve seen on the Oregon coast, and the whole stay felt a little magical.
The breakfasts were excellent, especially the waffles and the sunny breakfast room. Also worth mentioning: the shower had amazing water pressure and consistent hot water, which seasoned travelers know is never guaranteed.

The place is great if you are a couple and want to get away for a night or 2! The room we had was right behind the reception desk so we literally heard everything! Also- around 6 am we heard the employees start getting ready for breakfast on the other side so lots of banging and loud noises at 6am on a weekend which I was bummed about!

We reserved the Kimberly's room. It has a more modern look and bed frame and wall/decor. It's light and bright. But there's no fridge and no microwave where those things come standard in a hotel room. There's however a hot breakfast with eggs, sausages, and biscuits, and other breads and standard yogurt, juice, etc. There's also make your own hot Belgian waffles. Yummm.
We have a small view of the ocean. That's kind of funny, but we appreciated the little view and a gorgeous sunset from it. The cherry tree outside the window is full of buds and will be a full blown bloomed beautiful.

Breakfast was adequate, staff was amazing, room was clean w/ just a few rough edges, shower was HOT and didn't fizzle out. pet friendly. Property had lots of charm. My only real complaint, was that the floors are thin and the people staying above us must've been vampires who only sleep 2 hours a night. I maybe only got a total of 6hrs sleep over our 3 day stay. Also, before we booked, somebody told us there was a jacuzzi, but there was none.

Do note for others with mobility issues that it is a historic home without elevator so plan accordingly. Parking is easy and the property is very close to beach promenade and restaurants. The rooms are somewhat spacious for a B&B, clean and comfortable with nice robes and bed. It was quite noisy with people partying on Saturday night and trash trucks in the early morning. The breakfast is worse than a Best Western or lower end motel and for that reason do not plan to stay there again.

The bed was very uncomfortable, the staff dismissive, the room was very loud from the neighboring rooms and the parking garage across the street (The photo of the dumpster truck stuck in the parking garage is the view from the room). Many things were broken, including the coffee machine and half of the bikes. There was hair in the breakfast. I was also irritated that the staff tried to charge us over $100 for requesting to change to a different room, despite that room being offered online at a lower price. I did enjoy the outdoor fireplace. But there are better places to stay with a similar proximity to the beach.

I arrived about 6:15 pm on a Friday evening. The office was locked, no one answered the door bell. I called the emergency phone numbers but got no answer.Their website says the office is manned 9 am to 9 pm, but no one was there. In the foyer I had access to I found an envelope with my name on it tucked away in a mail receptacle. It had keys to another entrance, a room key and an indoor map to my room. The room I chose was the Turret Room. I had to climb steep narrow stairs to get to it. No one was there to help me with luggage. I was there 3 nights and received no maid service. However there was a tip envelope with a note saying it was to show my gratitude for providing a clean room. There were no hand rails in the bathroom.
The place was a quaint historic home converted to vacation lodging. I enjoyed the historic value, but can't recommend the place as the stairs are a safety hazard and check-in was difficult.

This is my 3rd stay at Gilbert and I hope to visit again! I love the location next to the Prom and the cozy size of the rooms. I love that I can bring my small dog and it feels like staying with friends. Gilbert is a hidden gem and I hope that they are able to stay affordable so I can continue to come back!
