Staying with Rick and Laura Sue was a delight. They are amazing hosts and their B & B experience set the bar high. Extremely accommodating and we enjoyed our short stay for the weekend. The grounds are lovely. We enjoyed the Serenity suite we were set up in. Had a great sleep and enjoyed a soak in the jacuzzi tub before breakfast. As for breakfast…..top notch!!! Enjoyed the company and conversation at breakfast as well. They make you feel like they already know you. Engaging and entertaining. Definitely would come back while in Milwaukee.

Lovely hosts and beautiful home with old charm throughout and delicious breakfast served when you want it! They let you select the breakfast when you check in and the time you want to eat. Very nice touch. The home is truly beautiful inside and out with a luxury feel and fine finishes (the wood floor in our room was very intricate and you could definitely tell it was costly in it's day). Everything about the home was lovely. The neighborhood, not so much, it's very run down and the home just across the street is boarded up. Very loud neighbors, talking loud and yelling most the day, loud music, and cars. It definitely took away from the luxury feel, although DEFINITELY not the fault of the hosts! We ran the air conditioner / fan at night to override the noise and had no issues sleeping. We parked our car in their driveway lot and had no issues there either.

Victorian Mansion near down town Milwaukee is quaint and quite unique. The proprietors are sweet, hardworking people who really aim to please. Rooms are well appointed and decorated in period furniture and knickknacks. A really fun experience.

Rick and Laura Sue were wonderful hosts. I stayed for three nights so I got to enjoy 3 of their wonderful gourmet breakfasts. The B and B was lovely with special touches throughout--made me feel like I was living during the Victorian Era. Surrounding neighborhood is not great but the inn itself felt very safe.

What a unique opportunity to step back in time! The detailed restoration of this beautiful bed and breakfast with such an extensive collection of period pieces is something to behold. From the check in they greets with open arms . She takes you step by step on breakfast options , home layout and how to access the place when coming in late. The home is in 1890s decor down to the tea. Best shower every and if you always wanted to take a bath in a Victorian tub this is for you.The inn keepers put in a water filtration system makes water more pure than bottle water. For the wine lovers you can buy bottles at the b and b and theres afternoon tea but must be booked in advance . The chef is Rick he makes the most delicious breakfasts straight out of Wisconsin. The bed is very luxurious .This place has the charm and warmth of a 1890s house and a garden to back it up. Uber is fast and there is public transportation a block south. Book for a night or weekend or bridal shower or a wedding you wont regert it. I cant say but thankyou for making feel welcome.

The Schuster Mansion is a hidden gem in downtown Milwaukee. Built in 1891, it is an architectural marvel. When you consider that the building is 134 years old, the insider is essentially pristine. The rooms are furnished in the style of the period which means that the guest is able to experience what it would have been like.
The breakfast choices are excellent. We really enjoyed the chance to 'dine' for breakfast. It is definitely an experience to share be served your breakfast with real silverware and china.

Everything was fantastic – cleanliness, comfort, friendliness, quiet, and the breakfast! My only criticism is that the bedroom was a little hot at night – it was a hot day in May, and I was told the place was \"kept at 67 degrees,\" but it felt a lot hotter than that in the room. Would definitely stay again, just maybe not in mid-summer (and would like to go back for an afternoon high tea!).

This is one of the very few B&Bs that REALLY hits the jackpot. The building (mansion) is phenominal, appartently all done by Laura and Rick. But the great mansion is exceeded by the breakfast! It is just fabulous.

It was the most comfortable bed and breakfast place i have ever stayed in. The service was impeccable. They treated us as family. Laura Sue and Richard. Had lots of history to tell us about. A leaky ceiling and a bad attitude
We needed a room in a very sold out night in Milwaukee, and decided to take a chance on a bed & breakfast because it seemed charming.
Knowing that a B&B is usually run by owners on site, my husband and I were mindful to check in as early as we could (6pm), but were greeted so coolly by the hostess upon arrival, I thought we were in the wrong place. Within 15 minutes, I was ready to leave-and should have. The proprietress used every opportunity and moment of our visit, to make us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Commanding us to sit or stand, contradicting or arguing with everything, it was appalling. She complained endlessly about the third party site I had booked on, complained about other guests to us and was outright mean to her spouse in front of us.
We tried to ignore all this, enjoy the ambiance (the room really was pretty), but awoke in the morning to water leaking from the ceiling, right onto us on the bed. When we let her know what was happening, instead of trying to fix it, she blames another guest, in the middle of a full dining room! He “took a shower wrong” and caused this leak, apparently. Meaning, this has happened before and we were rented a room with full knowledge the ceiling leaks.
No apology, no concern for the bed (being leaked on the entire time this is happening).
I have never had someone make me so uncomfortable and feel so unwelcome, anywhere I’ve stayed.
We left tired and started for the drive home; I’m still in shock about the experience.

The mansion is absolutely gorgeous and decorated with amazing detail. The hosts were extremely nice and helpful. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and more than we ever would have expected. This place is definitely worth checking out and a super cool experience to have in our travels.
Please ignore the negative reviews regarding the neighborhood that the mansion is located in. We felt completely safe and had no issues with having our vehicle parked at the property. The people who have commented on the neighborhood being bad clearly have not traveled much outside of small town America. It is what you would expect from being in any city in the United States. Great place, great price, great experience! We would highly recommend it.

We enjoyed our stay and the food was good but we were charged extra for our children. When I reserved it on Hotels.com, it was clear that we were a family of 4. When we stayed at the hotel, I had to pay an extra $30 for each of my children. I believe this is something with Hotels.com and not the B&B, but I would have stayed elsewhere if I had know I would have to pay for each kid.

The good was the breakfast in the morning, owner Rick was a pure gentleman, and the various antiques in the house. The bad was Laura (opinionated, rude, and thinks pretty highly of herself), 30 minutes to check in, and location is in a sketchy neighborhood.

This is NOT a Hotel stay. It is guesting in someone's personal home. It is important for prospective patrons to understand this. The couple who own and operate this are as friendly and helpful as one can imagine, but they are not there to be servants so the most important thing is to be respectful of them and their property.
They provide an incredible breakfast and offer several choices. (Trust me you won't get this service at any local diner.) Don't change your requested breakfast time on a whim or throw out crazy demands and expect them to just hop to it because you are the paying customer. They are tremendously accommodating, and if it is an emergency they will work with you but don't take advantage like an entitled tool.
The rooms are smaller and decorated in mansion motif. You may need to share a bathroom. There are three floors and no elevator. Know this going in so you are not surprised. You will be treated in direct proportion as that which you give out. Example: I was respectful, friendly, and congenial and in return enjoyed a nicer experience than in a hotel and cheaper to boot. (Free parking near downtown? Good luck finding THAT elsewhere. They provide it.)
To sum up, staying here is a more personal experience. Act like a jerk and you will be treated with the minimum of professionalism necessary. Act like a mature adult and you will be treated to a better time than you will find in any downtown hotel at twice the cost.

The interior of the house was beautifully decorated for Christmas. There was alot of dust, broken glass & a peculiar smell throughout. The shower was a danger to get in & out.
The owner & host, Laura Sue was down right rude, nasty, miserable, & condescending the entire stay. She made us both very uncomfortable during our stay. She stated she did not like that we booked thru Expedia & therefore would only give us discounted service. When we mentioned we were there for my husband's birthday, she told us she could not wish him a happy birthday because we booked thru Expedia. Laura Sue would not let her husband/owner speak to us because of this also. She told us she looked into how Expedia billed us & said we were over billed by Expedia.
If we could have received a refund, we would have left immediately!
We also heard gunshots the last 2 nights of our stay.
All the other B&B's were sold out in the area with the exception of Schuster Mansion. Now we understand why. Worst B&B ever!

This was our first at a Bed & Breakfast and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Laura Sue and Rick were so welcoming. Very personal feel upon check-in and helping us get settled in. The 1800's style mansion very unique and beautiful. My girlfriend and I (23 &26), stayed there for a night because we came to see a concert at The Rave down the street. It's only an 8 min walk, very convenient and close. The bedroom we stayed in was Richard's Den, it was so amazing to see! Clean and comfortable. Beautifully designed from it's era. The breakfast in the morning was some of the best food I've tasted, I had crepes with fruit in them, very nice stay.

I had a fabulous stay recently and would like to share my experience. Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted by my hosts, Laura Sue and Rick. They invited me into the Victorian era parlor for a brief orientation of the mansion. I was so impressed by the meticulous restoration of the property as well as the attention to detail in its furnishings. It was clear that every aspect was carefully considered, from wall hangings to custom-made curtains and drapes. As for my accommodations, they certainly exceeded expectations and were at a reasonable price. The bed was quite comfortable (and I must note that I am picky!), allowing for a great night’s sleep. The next morning, my hosts prepared a wonderful breakfast of my choice: a ham and egg strata with roasted potatoes, along with the most delicious French toast (Laura Sue’s special recipe) on the side. My hosts were most gracious and sat down with me to discuss the history of the mansion, which is located in the historic Concordia neighborhood. I highly recommend a stay here – as well as “Mollie’s High Tea,” when your hosts, dressed in period costumes, serve an impressive selection of tea varieties, along with savory and sweet treats, and tell stories about the historic property and Victorian traditions. You will not be disappointed with a visit to the Schuster Mansion. In fact, it will be a memorable, if not magical, experience!

The Schuster Mansion was amazing! This more than 100 year old mansion turned Bed and Breakfast is first class in every way. Our room, Prairie Sky, was clean, comfortable, and well appointed. The hosts were friendly, engaging, and interesting. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. If you are going to be in Milwaukee plan to stay at the Schuster Mansion.

Poor location, noise, and condition of the suite. Around 2am we were awoken to an argument outside of our window between the neighbors that lasted over 30 minutes. Yes, we were provided ear plugs. At breakfast, which was late when we arrived downstairs due to the owner not sleeping, hearing the same argument we heard, which she said happens often and she went out to yell at them to get off the lawn and overslept. The bed in the suite needs to be updated, and the frame and headboard fixed. Each time you move, the headboard bangs the wall and the frame squeaks, hopefully you aren't someone who moves in bed to experience this and the foot of the bed is inches higher than the head of the bed. The shower curtain in the bathroom had green mold on the interior curtain and yes, we understand this is an older home but the water pressure and hot water are less than adequate. This place is also a fire hazard with surge protectors everywhere, a window air conditioner that when on dims and flickers all lights in the suite. If you are looking for someplace to get a good night of sleep this is not the place.

Owner was very helpful with flat tire as we were leaving so offset some of the bluster about unwritten rules we kept managing to violate (no luggage at check in, no dirty dishes in kitchen sink, no seating at breakfast table until presentation was complete). The mansion and grounds are beautiful. The mansion is decorated like an old Victorian home--lots of antiques, knick-knacks, old photos. Interesting to see but they all could stand a good dusting and so could the wood floors, windowsills, draperies, etc. Guests should be informed ahead of time that they will in some cases have to share a bathroom with other guests. We would not have booked this room if we knew that was the case--especially in these times of Covid. In addition, the owners, though kind, outgoing and personable, shared they are not vaccinated and don't intend to be. Again, that would have been a deal breaker for us if we had known and its our fault for not asking ahead of time.

This place is incredible! At first glance I thought it might be a strange visit but once I walked in I felt immediately the love of the innkeepers was very apparent. The check in process was wonderful - they explained everything from getting into the mansion to breakfast and check out the next morning. The room I stayed in was up on the third floor but so cute and comfortable. It had a shared bathroom with another room but no one was staying there so I had the bathroom to myself which was nice.
I honestly think the best part of my stay was the breakfast in the morning! You get to pick your choice the night before out of four options - each sounds more delicious than the next. I chose a ham and cheese Strava with pecan French toast and am still dreaming about it.

We were very impressed with the cleanliness of the whole house. The chandeliers were shiny and sparkling. The bathrooms were clean and well-stocked. The kitchen was clean and organized.
The innkeepers were very friendly and willing to help us with anything we needed. They had an eye for the special little touches. The pictures were so fun to look at. It was truly a wonderful experience. We laughed, and talked with the innkeepers, they were delightful!

The Schuster Mansion is a breathtaking B&B only minutes from the bustle of downtown. It's also convenient to the Marquette University area. The proprieters are personable and creative. They did an amazing job renovating and decorating this historic building, then filled it with gorgeous antiques. Each room or suite is unique. The Prairie Sky room is the smallest room and a 3rd floor walk-up, but I love it. The owner painted to look like the sky. Guests can count on a good night's sleep. The mansion is very quiet-- eight other guests were there when we were, yet we never heard a sound. Guests have a choice of three delicious menus for breakfast, served on fine china at lace-covered tables. You can take home a memory or a gift from the lovely little gift shop, offering a variety of goods from clothing to special teas to china.

Very pleasant environment in which you could see, feel and hear about the history and the love and care that continues this Bed and Breakfast. The owners went above and beyond to not only share their home but make it a memorable experience to stay with me forever because of who they are as individuals. I learned a new card game, met new people, learn interesting history & heard wonderful stories, stayed in a beautiful room & had homemade cookies & breakfast that were spectacular & so much more. I also learned a little more about myself and that is a unexpected surprise that rarely happens and for me it happens when I need it most and least expect it but mostly because of the gifted individuals that help guide or nudge me. The B&B was very nice, my wife and I had a great time. We got a chance to talk with the owners for quite a while and really enjoyed talking with them about the house and the area. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom shower had a lot of water pressure for a 100 year old home. We enjoyed the breakfast ( which was delicious) out on the new patio area. The entire stay was so wonderful, looking forward to spending time there again.
