This place was my home away from home. I started getting rooms there in 2019. I'm originally from Jersey. I lived in Florida for about 13 years and when we would have family functions we would always do them at Sun Viking. It was the most family orientated spotless as well as so kid friendly. You literally felt like they were your family. The rooms were immaculate even throughout the day they would have people there to keep the place looking clean. It was my favorite place to be.

I moved back to Jersey. I still have family here in Florida which is my daughter and grandchildren. I came for a visit and said I want to go to Sun Viking my home away from home. I didn't even go into the pool. That's how filthy this place was. I was so disappointed. I'm not sure if it's under new ownership or if the people just gave up. I also am very much aware there's not a lot of workers today. Nobody wants to work but they do want to collect a paycheck for doing nothing. It's very sad to see and it's so very sad to see places like the sun biking go down hell. The rooms smell horribly. I was so nauseous the two days that I was there. I couldn't even enjoy my family. I just wanted to get out of there. Looks like I will be looking for another place when I come to Florida for my visits. Sun biking. I'm so sorry to have to put this kind of post up it's a struggle to be in this world as it is to have to pay for something that you can't even enjoy.

This was a very clean establishment. We enjoyed the pools and the closeness of the beach. The staff was very helpful and courteous. The only thing we missed in this stay is the Hot tub. It was out of commission and that was one of the reasons for choosing this very satisfying establishment, for this reason I would give a 8.5.

What you see there isn't the reality; the place is terrible. Nothing works: the room smells musty, the place is dirty, the air conditioning is old and in poor condition, the ceilings are broken, and the spa isn't functioning. Terrible service, terrible place—I do not recommend it.

This place is over rated. Broken door, found dirty clothes from previous guest, terrible smell like if someone vomited and never was cleaned. The sofa bed was dirty, cracks all over and unusable. Terrible experience. We couldn't stay. I talk to the young ladies at reception, they apologized and they said a refund was authorized and to go through Expedia to deal with it. I contacted Expedia and they refused to reimburse the money.

We left the hotel about an hour later. I won't trust Expedia ever again. This was the second time it happened to me with Expedia. This time in Daytona, and the other one in Guatemala when renting a car through them

Our stay was okay. our room was as clean as could be for an old place. Housekeepers did a good job. our door would not latch closed unless we slammed it a few times. The outdoor was clean but a few of the chairs and the public bathroom could use a cleaning. The indoor pool was clean but a good portion of the roof was missing and the pieces that were there were blowing and banging in the wind. We enjoyed the beach and having a place to change and rest is the way to go. we will try the Sun Viking again soon but will try a different room and take more time to explore the area.

There was trash in our room. Staff was nice. Hot tub is broken and there was no notification it was broken. That was one of the main reasons we chose this place with the hot tub and price at the time. Also the café was not open and we were looking forward to that as well. Parking here sucks too, the spaces are so tight and its so risky trying to avoid hitting other vehicles. If we knew beforehand we probably would have went somewhere else, im not usually the type to complain and I usually just tolerate things but this was a real disappointment.

Well , they had me when I saw the entrance sign, it said in God we trust. The staff was awesome and friendly. The prices where good , pools were heated. The King size bed was amazing and comfy.. Will definitely be going back..

The staff is very kind and friendly! Upon check in our room keys did not work and the front desk gal gladly came out to replace the battery compartment. The room was outdated, but beds were comfortable, liked having two bathroom sinks and mirrors for getting multiple people ready at same time. Facility needs updating. The cafe was not open. The outdoor pool which we were looking forward to using and sunbathing by was closed during our stay which was a huge disappointment for Spring Break sunshine. Indoor pool was busy. Property is small but great location on the beach.

Pool was only heated on the weekend, Viking cafe was not open, not allowed to swim in the outdoor pool because it was broken (fixed after 4 days of our stay but we were told it would be fixed on the day we checked in), ran out of toilet paper twice and had to go down to the main office to get some since rooms weren’t taken care of except our last day out of a 7 night stay

We enjoyed the pool with the kids, as well as the hot tub. The awning over the pool was not in good shape which made the view not so great. It does not look like the picture shown above. The kitchen and the room were nice. Overall, it was a pleasant stay for 1 night.

We have been goin to the sun Viking for the last 14 years ! And it’s sad to say now that they are now under new ownership/ management we will not be going back ! Room were nasty everything was broken we got locked out of the sleeping area away from our little children called the front deals and was told we would have to wait it out ! I had picked this hotel bc the hotels.com site said family friendly with a game room, a snack bar, sauna, gift shop and a gym. Upon check in, we had a wonderful gal named Cora. She was polite, friendly, and a very hard worker. After getting to our room, which was quickly prepared, we did not get a room with a view that I had paid more for so we were close to the pool and the beach. The next morning my husband had to leave early for an unexpected work shift in which I had to make arrangements and get my son up to drive him at 6:30 in the morning after not getting much sleep because there were motorcycles all night and it was very loud. I was exhausted that morning but was packing up the room with my five year old who could not help at all, stressing because I knew we were approaching check out time and I still needed a quick shower and was packing up all three of our items while cleaning along the way. I told my 5 year old son mommy's going to take a shower if anybody knocks at the door tell them my mom he's in the shower please come back in a little while. Most importantly I informed him to not open the door for anyone because he is 5 years old and I didn't want any strangers near him without me being present. While I was in the shower of course I heard the death knock like the police are rating the place and I heard my son say my mom is in the shower please come back then I heard the door open I didn't hear anybody talking I was listening and then I heard the door close

We checked in early but was told our room was not cleaned yet. We arrived back at the hotel around 11:00 pm after returning from the Nascar Duels. The first thing we noticed was the table having food all over it, the floor not vacuumed, but beds were made. I went down to the front desk but it was closed and no one answered the phone.
We were extremely tired, so we went to bed, as we had no place else to go. When we woke up in the morning we discovered that the bathroom was also not cleaned. no towels, or soaps, dried soap and hair allover the sinks. I then went to the front desk to ask for a clean room and was told "they had none. Said we could not get our money back because we booked through Expedia. the lady at the desk Cora told us to put in a complaint to Expedia but that she could give me back the $10.00 resort fee we had paid in cash. Then said her computer was down so she could not give it to us. we checked out and left very upset and had to find a place to shower and get cleaned up. I did notice on the sheet the desk clerk wrote our complaint on there were 16 other complaints on it just from that morning. This place is so gross and poorly ran.

Probably nice people but the entire hotel is completely run down. The pictures you see online, including the one right above this survey on the Hotels.com website are hella outdated. This hotel hasn't looked like that in 20 years. The room does function and you wont be rained on while you sleep but thats about it. Yes, it is on the beach. internet does function but barely. AC unit does not but it was cool while i was there so thank goodness for that. Floor (carpet) is so filthy you have to wear shoes constantly. Needs new ownership and someone to pour money into the place.

Although short staffed during my stay, The staff is amazing!! The lobby was full due to Daytona race and reservations were coming in left and right. The team kept their composure and handled the situation very well. The gentleman at the front desk worked very well with the manager, she was even cleaning rooms to accommodate newcomers. This is a no frills stay. Perfect for a few affordable days at the beach. The owners are trying. Room was clean, beds comfortable just old and visible water damage. Need extra blankets. Basically only have 2 sheets. We loved parking right outside of our room, access to beach and quiet stay. We did not use the pools but they looked clean and areas around were nice. Place is just old. If I came back with my kids in the summer I may stay here again.

The pictures of the property on the website must be 20 years old. It is in desperate need of a facelift. the enclosure over the indoor pool has a couple of large holes (3-4 feet) on the roof as the building crumbles.The room was clean but had an odor. We had to leave the balcony door during our stay. It is out of season so there were plenty of rooms available. They put us next to a rooms under going major construction. We were awaken in the morning by the hammering, drilling and voices of the construction crew. in the evening there we people hanging around in the entry ways, After three days we decided to leave early. We asked for a refund of our final day and was told we would have to take that up with Expedia.

Completely unacceptable stay due to undisclosed construction noise

We checked in at 5:00 AM specifically to rest. At 9:00 AM, extremely loud construction noise started and continued until 4:00 PM on Saturday, making it impossible to sleep or remain in the room.

When we contacted the front desk, the only response was an apology. We were told that nothing could be done and that the construction company supposedly arrived without prior notice. This is not an acceptable explanation for guests who paid for a stay expecting basic comfort.

The construction was not disclosed prior to booking, which is a serious failure and materially affected our stay. Expedia also attempted to contact the property by phone and was unable to reach them.

The lack of transparency, accountability, and any attempt to resolve the situation made this stay a complete waste. We strongly do not recommend this property.

I searched for a hotel with a hot tub and the indoor pool was the thing that made me decide on choosing Sun Viking Resort and well as upgrading to a room with a balcony and garden view. The property is repairing balconies causing the indoor pool closure. Had I known in advance I would not have booked here and definitely would not have booked a garden view which was of the indoor pool area. The hot tub, which was my original draw wax not hot and the he jets were not very strong. My last complaint is that we booked for 6 people which consisted of two queen beds and a queen sofa bed. When we pulled out the sofa bed we discovered no bedding. The office provided sheets and a blanket but had no pillows and said there was nothing they could do since housekeeping was gone. With all that being said, we enjoyed our stay and I would be inclined to go back once the repairs are done. It is a great location and both pool areas are beautiful and well kept. I hope the next repair or upkeep is to the hot tub.

No good. Took my wife and newborn there for short 3 day vacation after Christmas. I checked out within 2 hours and went to Daytona grande down the street. The Viking lodge is dirty, damage everywhere in room and pool area. Most importantly the people that live in the hotel are a little rough with many unattended children EVERYWHERE.

The fridge in the first room wasn't working, so my wife took in the keys to get another room while I repacked our things. She was told that was "the only time we would swap rooms." So I didn't even bother mentioning the other minor/bearable issues with the second room. But in the end we just left the hotel a day early, even knowing that I was losing my money.

Checked in on time. Room had musty odor. Door hardware on entry & balcony doors need repairs and pose security risk. Garbage left by elevators for days. No coffee makers in rooms as anticipated. Overall property still recovering from hurricane damage, for the cost, there are better hotel options nearby. No nearby restaurants walking distance. No beach access/blocked. We stayed during Biketober Fest 2025.

Also didn’t realize that this was Bikeoctoberfest weekend so lots of loud traffic throughout the night. We liked the indoor pool until someone started smoking pot in the area.

Employees were friendly and helpful. The place in general needs some serious refurbishing, lots of rust everywhere. Funky smells in the hallways. Killed 3 roaches in the bathroom. The 2 pools they advertise are there and they're petty nice, no slide though. Some rust removal, fresh paint and a good exterminator service could make this place attractive again.

It’s in a very nice location. We had a room beachfront so that was wonderful. We went in August. It has a good layout in the room. It is kind of outdated in old after first few days. It did have kind of an odor in the room. Daytona Beach is high tide most days where we were staying so you could walk on the beach but as far as going out and just sitting, it was hard to do it rained while we were there so that might’ve had something to do with it it was clean. It just seemed like it’s a little outdated And a odor. But the price you pay it is exactly what you’re gonna get.

This hotel is so nice with amazing amenities like two pools, hot tub, nice patio areas with chairs, lounges, tables, umbrellas and easy beach access. They need to provide pool towels, though. Out main complaint is that we literally got NO hot water in our shower AT ALL. We called around 10pm for assistance from the 24hr front desk and got no answer, so we took cold showers. In the morning, we called and were told very abruptly that we had not waited long enough for the hot water to descend from the 8th floor boiler which takes 30+ minutes. We tried waiting that long and got warm (not hot) water in the sink, but still no warm water in the tub/shower. This is something they need to address, not just tell the customer we didn’t wait long enough. Maybe step into the 21st century and upgrade your hot water system, since you are aware there is a problem!

Check in was easy. Cora gave me all the details I needed except where our room was located. We finally found it in adjacent building. Then we had to call maintenance twice to get into our room when the keys failed to open the door. It was a known problem. Ocean views were awesome and the off shore breeze made it comfortable when I sat in the shade.

Sun Viking Lodge is a great property for the price.
The rooms were clean and comfortable.
Unfortunately, my room door was broken and they booked the room anyway. The front desk immediately sent maintenance up and I heard maintenance tell the front desk that it’s the door they can’t fix. My son and I had to push and pull VERY hard on the door to open and close it. I understand things happen, but my issue is that the property owner/manager has not fixed it while continuing to rent it out. In an emergency, it could be dangerous.

Uhh i really wish i could show the pictures of the room when we got there.... the floors were disgusting me and my husband had to clean the entire floor. Went to the front desk because the room was dirty but also the lock to the balcony did not work. They didnt seem to care about the dirty room and just said maid already left for the day but maintenance was great and fixed the door right away. We are no strangers to cleaning so it was whatever we just cleaned it and enjoyed our stay. We had a great time and we stayed for 4 days. Never saw house keeping or anyone. Well i guess because the floor wasnt cleaned when we checked out

We checked in around 9pm and received great service upon arrival. It was late and the room had poor lighting so we didn’t see the mold on the walls and ceiling. My spouse is a disabled veteran with lung issues. He was having trouble breathing. I was woken by the maid entering our room first thing in the morning. We requested a room change due to the mold. The maintenance man wanted my spouse to show him the mold before they moved us. We got into our new room; which was cleaner and minus mold. My spouse removed his clothes and laid down on the bed to relax. The maid came in our room unannounced again. We complained and asked for a discount or refund. The “resort” refused to help because we booked through Expedia. Expedia doesn’t do anything for you either.

The hot water did not work. Cold shower which was not enjoyable. The sauna on the 3rd floor did not work, which was why i chose to stay at the viking. In the morningni was sprayed by the irrigation sprinkler. They are not adjusted correctly. Standing water near the gate which could be slippery. The area around the pool ( under awning ) needs pressure washed and repinted and the the clear cover itself needs to be chemically cleaned. Soda vendors were useful

We enjoyed our time here at the sun viking lodge very much. Our room was on the first floor right by the indoor swimming pool that was awesome. Everything was convenient, the indoor swimming pools, outdoor swimming pools and just steps from being on the awesome beach.
Staff were very friendly and always available if you needed anything. The cafe was closed due to a busted pipe but I mean things happen. Staff was very apologetic about it. I would recommend this lodge and I would go back to it as well!

I loved that it was right on the beach. Property needs a lot of work; it's very outdated. Wallpaper pealing on the walls, kitchen cabinets door doesn't close and also had ceiling stains. I still enjoyed my stay and front desk person was amazing.

The staff were all so friendly and helpful! Even when other guests were being nasty to them. My husband and I went by ourselves but I really want to go back with my kiddos! The pools were gorgeous and the beach access was perfection! Not the cleanest room I’ve ever stayed in, but Clorox wipes solved that problem.

TJ, the front desk attendant, was really nice and accommodating. Service animals are allowed at the property but not near the pool areas which made the stay less than expected. I went for a young boy’s birthday but wasn’t told in advance they had taken out the 60ft water slide which was why that hotel was chosen to begin with.
