Although we were there while the ski patrol strike began and continued throughout our stay, the Mountain Lodge and staff were excellent. They had activities such as an Apres-Ski party with Vueve Clicquot, a wine tasting event, and warm cookies daily in the lobby. They even allowed us to checkout early and refund us due to the strike.

• Excellent location — 5-minute walk to the market and free gondola
• About 10 minutes on foot to the center of Mountain Village
• Suite had a fully equipped kitchen, fireplace, and a very nice view
• Convenient ski access near Double Cabins

Cons:
• Property feels dated and in need of a major overhaul
• Disconnected lodges require walking outside in all weather
• Parking policy is inconvenient despite a $45/night fee
• Pool and hot tub are impractical in winter due to outdoor access

Overall:
Mountain Lodge has a strong location and functional suites, but overall it fell short of expectations. While it was helpful as a first stay to learn what we prefer in Mountain Village, we would not choose to stay here again. The property feels close to decline without significant updates.

The parking situation was particularly frustrating. I don’t mind paying the nightly fee, but guests aren’t allowed to keep their keys or park outside their villa even when many spaces were clearly available. During our mid-December stay, occupancy was low and the parking lot had plenty of open spots, making the policy feel unnecessary.

Additionally, the pool and hot tub were effectively unusable in winter due to the required outdoor walk. Until Mountain Lodge undergoes a complete renovation, I would recommend considering other properties in the area.

Book the trip during what turned out to be their off season. Room was very nice with a pretty view and everything was clean it came with a fireplace but housekeeping didn’t turn over the room every day as they were supposed to, the change machines for laundry were out of order both in our building and the one across, the range was not functioning properly, the parking situation was sketchy at best and the lodge restaurant had only 3 items on the menu and the cocktails were mediocre. Now I understand they have to pair down the services offered during off season but for $320 a night you’d expect more. They didn’t even have 24/7 front desk staffing. A motel 8 in the middle of nowhere can manage that, and forget about free breakfast.

Staff was respectful. Droppings from Mice in our room in conjunction of mouse traps found in the closet. Furnaces in the rooms were load, sounded belt driven. So we just kept the fire places on instead.

This hotel is in need of an update. you can tell it is almost 30 years old. Hardly a resort experience. I am just thankful it was off season and i didnt pay full season price. The beds are old, the showers are old. On this trip there was mold in the caulking of the shower in my room. The Bed was sunken in in the middle and not comfortable. The headboard on the bed was loose and felt like it was going to fall over. The toilet seat was loose or broken and the toilet barely flushed. The Staff was helpful and pleasant, they just need to update the old tired rooms

Place was great, the views were stunning! It was the perfect spot in the area. Close to everything but not so close that I felt crowded or uncomfortable. I think we happened to get a quiet weekend before the fall crowds. 2 semi big issues. The pool and hot tub were closed the entire time. I understand things break but I was looking forward to that and booked there because of the amenities. And what was worse was the chain sawing that happened every morning at 8:30. Don’t love waking up to that on my vacation instead of sleeping in to a peaceful morning. They should have closed during this time, gave discounted prices, warned guests or simply waited till at least noon to start. This is something that was in their control and chose to do which was super disappointing. Staff were lovely dealing with what they had. This was a poor management decision. Good luck to those who book. It’s great place if the amenities are working and if they aren’t doing landscaping or construction. And you probably won’t know when you book!

Wonderful place to relax. My wife and I are on an 8,000 mile motorcycle ride. After the first 5,800 miles we stayed 2 nights at Mountain Lodge. Absolutely the perfect place to take a break from the road and spend our 39th wedding anniversary. Can't give them enough praise.

Jacuzzi is not hot enough

No parking - they charge $40/night and it takes 15 minutes to get your car. You are better off parking next to the Gondola for free and walking 7-10 minutes to your car after you unload your luggage by your room

Staff was pretty good and did the best they could.

There is no air conditioning in the units which would be fine.But we couldn't open our window because there was no screen. I was told it would be fixed and it wasn't.

Some of the food was good, but the breakfast was terrible. For a $35 breakfast, I would hope everything wasn't so deep fried I couldn't eat it. Including the eggs. Very disappointing! We did eat some other food though that was good.

Don't plan on relaxing by the pool. Because nobody know regulates the children. Including the parents. I had my drinks spilled twice. $20 drinks. Constantly getting splashed. Beach balls flying at my face. And the screaming and yelling was ridiculous.

To top it all off, you are charged $40 a day, just to have your car there. They don't let you know this until sign in.

We spent over $1600 for a very tiny room that I couldn't open the windows in and was very hot for 3 days. Definitely not worth the money and we won't be back.

There was no coffee in the room. Black mold in the shower.

My room was not clean. And the hotel said they’d organize my airport shuttle, and then I almost missed my flight because they didn’t.

The laundry room was right next to my room. People were doing laundry all night; it was very loud and disrupted my sleep each night. I needed ear plugs.

To start off the gentleman that drove the gator and delivered our luggage to our room should not be in the hospitality business. When we got to the 2 story, 2 bedroom room.
The doors on the linen closet on the downstairs bedroom we're falling off. Do two the fact there is no air condition in the rooms, i tried to open the windows and the blinds will not operate due to the mechanism that raises them was broken and missing. But the worst part was we could not use the second bedroom upstairs. Because it was so hot and there were no windows in the room. We were offered fans but did not work to cool The room, just blew hot air around. The upstairs occupants had to sleep on the floor and couch downstairs. The smell of dog urine outside the front entrance of the rooms was pungent.. very disappointed....

We didn’t stay for long, but whatever we experienced was excellent. Loved the suite, the organization, little touches like great cookies and lemonade in the lobby. The view is spectacular, and the area is very nice. I loved the Village Market 5 mins away. The pool and spa are great. The lodge is expensive during the high season, so I’ll try to come back when the price is lower. Despite this, I didn’t feel ripped off like I did in some other hotels. Great job, Mountain Lodge!

The location is gorgeous. The unit itself wasn’t bad but seemed older and could’ve used some updates, especially the master bath. Also we kept catching whiffs of natural gas. Two mantainance workers came to check over an hour after we’d called about the gas and said they thought the cleaning lady had maybe bumped the stove and started a slow trickle. They checked to make sure the stove was off but that’s all. Suggested we run fans and sleep with windows open.
No apology or discount or anything was offered. This made our only night in telluride less than ideal.

There was a very noisy family that got placed above us which made our last night and morning not so pleasant.

Outside of that, we enjoyed our stay and loved the premises and our surroundings.

We love Mountain Lodge have been staying here for years. It's a great balance of cost, ease of ski in/out, easy access to Gondola, shuttle to store or Mountain Village, etc. Staff is always great.

The only downside is that the rooms are SO HOT! Even with the thermostat cranked down, the in-floor heating of the building keeps the rooms too warm. It was close to 0ºF outside our last night this year, but we still had to keep a window cracked to keep the room comfortable.

Very nice and roomy cabin feel. Depending on room you have to walk up snow covered driveway to get to shuttle and main building, with no walkway. Shuttle is very quick, hardly any wait items at all. Couldn’t use pool and hot tub due to not wanting to be so wet and walk back outside down a room in 10 degree weather. Steam room was broken, and no spa services at all. It is not a ski in/ski out so have to take shuttle 150 yards up to market and gondola which is nice then gondola to mountain village main center, so we rented skis everyday so we didn’t have to pay for a locker or carry them back besides renting them for the week. Also, shuttle stops at night sometime so one night I got back before midnight after dinner and drinks from Telluride but had to talk from gonadla back down icy road in 5 degree weather, so plan better on timing. I really enjoyed it but will pick another place to try in the center area of mountain village next time. But maybe go back this if that doesn’t workout. I did like the roomy cabin feel, and not the hotel feel, so depends. After skiing and hiking, I really wanted a bath, a hot tub, or massage each day, which I couldn’t have any, bc bathroom was renovated and standing showers only. Really no need in going to main building either. The restaurant is overpriced and not great but does have a bar and live music some times, but not options of food items to pick up or anything else to do besides very small gym area. The market right up is very nice though.

We reserved a 2 bedroom suite which we thought would be ample for 3 adults and 1 child. We were disappointed to discover that the living space was much smaller than the website pictures had shown . We requested a bigger room but there were none available which wasn’t surprising given the holiday. We decided to move after the first night as the staff were not very helpful and refused to provide any discount for the nights we didn’t stay.

The front services staff is completely unprofessional, incompetent, and discourteous. In the 4-night stay not once was my room cleaned. On the third night I requested my car along with 3 clean towels. Per policy you request your car 15-20 min in advance for valet to bring the car. I was waiting in our room for 30 min. After no towels showed up we head up for our car. The car was parked waiting for us. I asked Matt & Heather for an ETA on the towels. The response was “I don’t know.” “They will get to you.” Apparently they place a ticket and whenever housekeeping gets to your ticket that’s when you will receive any service and if the privacy tab is on the door per Heather “you will just be skipped.” After back and forth we don’t care attitude from the rude staff I ask for management. They have “no GM” and the supervisor kid that was hiding behind the swinging door didn’t say one word before Heather interrupted the me with the “supervisor” and began yelling at me. I removed myself from the situation because the supervisor allowed the front desk staff to behave ill-mannered. I paid over $1300 to stay at this property. It was a simple request for 3 fresh towels from the staff and they were horrendous. Thanks Bear who gave me Aaron’s card the manager of front services who I emailed and he completely disregarded the incident. Please train your staff, we are paying for the accommodations. The location is great, overall the hotel is rundown and the staff is unsatisfactory.

This was one of the most disappointing ‘four star’ hotels we have ever stayed at. Our luggage was never delivered to our room. Our car was left UNLOCKED outside all night long by the valet. I was told the manager was going to contact me. They never did.

Beautiful stay in the mountains, but unfortunately wish I had a view of the mountains. Close to gondola ride to town. Few issues with TV’s so make sure to ask about that on check in!! Staff at check in and later in the evening not so great, but day of check out was good!! For the price we paid, expected a little better??

Three days before we checked in the sent an email informing us that the restaurant, bar, pool and hot tube were closed thursday, friday and saturday for a private event. On thursday the private event went till 1am and were loud and they would not make them leave even though it was suppose to be over at 10pm. Friday night it went till 1130pm even though it was suppose to be over at 8pm. We called both nights and complained and asked for manager to contact me and they never did. They had no concern for the other guest but that of the wedding party. We will not ever stay here again.

Came here for the race and was so disappointed. Service is not good. There was a lot of rude staff. And most of them did not know very good english so it was hard to communicate. They didn't tell me at check in that the pool and hot tub are going to be closed on Saturday evening for a private event when we needed it the most. My husband had just ran the Imogene pass race that day (a 14 mile mountain race) and we specificly booked this hotel for the hot tub with the view so he could soak his legs afterwards. Couldnt even do that and the staff didnt care and just shrugged their shoulders. They also try and force you to use Valet parking. I told them I didnt want anyone driving my vehicle and they threatened me with a fine even though I was paying their ridiculous $35 per day parking fee. I ended up parking elsewhere and kept my keys. They didnt even offer guest free coffee in the lobby like most hotels. Even though you pay almost $400per night to stay here you have to pay $4 for a cup of regular black coffee at the bar. I will never stay here again. Overpriced, rude staff and didnt even get to utalize the facilities. I never write reveiws so for me to get on here and even take the time to write this should tell you something. I am also a certified travel agent and would love to book clients here but now I definitely won't and I will warn people not to stay here as well.

This property is very nice. A small gondola ride up from Mountain Village. We got a two bedroom apartment which was very nice. The pool looks great and the service was very good. You are about 20 minutes away on the gondola ride, which is very convenient from the town of Telluride. I would certainly recommend staying at this hotel if you don’t mind the 20 minute gondola ride into town. That’s surroundings are beautiful though, and you can do a lot of hiking from the area.

Hotel was overall an average stay. The first room we had was on the first floor and the balcony was open to the street. Morning deliveries backed right up to our patio doors. We ended up upgrading from a junior suite to a 2 bedroom and the location was much better. The two bedroom had so many moths dead and alive. The second bathroom seemed to have some mold on the shower floor. Cleanliness needs to be worked on. The bathrooms are very tight. You have to stand to the side of the toilet to shut the door.My husband is 6’3” and it was tight for him. The pool area is nice with the restaurant attached as well. We had both a lunch and dinner at the restaurant and thought the food was very good. All the staff we encountered were friendly and accommodating. The location is beautiful and they offer a free shuttle to Mountain Village . If I were to visit the area again I would look at other options available as this did not blow me away.

This hotel is in a great location, but the rooms were very hot ( no AC) in the summer and many windows didn't open all the way or lacked screens.
We were very disappointed at the Valet ONLY service at this property. You check in and have to walk to your hotel and any time you need your car you have to call ahead to have them prepare it for you. My fiancé had a bad knee and it was unbelievable to me that there was zero mode of transportation from the lobby to our hotel room. He had to walk from the lobby to our hotel room and it was a bit challenging for him. How about adding on a golf cart to transport guests from the hotel lobby to their hotel room??

This property was just ok. Expected much more for the money paid. Called prior to arrival at 6 pm and was told to call back next day just to confirm reservation. Had a 325 charge placed on card instead of hold first night even though paid in fulll and following nite a 525 charge. Had to go in the next day to have it taken care of. No AC 2nd floor or window. and fan didn’t work (smal one in closet and fixed overhead) There is a shuttle to get you closer to gondala to go to Telluride, but first nite arrived late and dropped off for food around 10 (their restraunt was closing ) and not told no shuttle after 11 so walked back in dark without familiarity of how to get back (there are sidewalks which we didn’t know and front desk when called didn’t volunteer) No coffee until we called. For the price was disappointed. Had stayed at another property in Mt Village a few years ago and it was excellent (same price)

The property was beautiful, the room was clean, but the toilet was not working. We spoke to the front desk, and they did not get maintenance to our room until we were checking out. The front desk credited our parking for the inconvenience and stated our balance was zero, no need to print the folio. When the folio arrived via email we were charged for parking. I spoke to a helpful person in accounting and the parking was credited. Disappointed the expensive price of the stay that the toilet was malfunctioning and the lack of response and follow through from the staff.

I took my mom to Telluride for the 4th of July. It was our first time visiting and I wasn’t sure where to book as I was unfamiliar with the area. We both loved the lodge. The location was great, we preferred being there vs where the other resorts were by far. We got a tiny room for the two of us. It was cozy and perfect for our needs. The walls were pretty thin, but nothing we haven’t experienced in our travels before and by no means is a reason to not give the lodge a good review. It was obvious many people staying around the 4th have been here time and time again. We see why. It’s family friendly, cozy and has everything you need within an acceptable distance. I loved having the valet parking, worth the cost, not to mention it’s common anymore for resorts to have fees for the service. We loved our time here and will certainly be back again, this time with a bigger crew. Highly recommend!

Had a rather unpleasant arrival experience. After waiting for an in house shuttle & staff to clear the one way guest arrival, (I will say 4-5 min) pulled up into porte cochere during a pouring rain storm where a bellman cursely informed us we could not park there because he had to park his shuttle there. Couldn't believe it. Condo nice. Well maintained. Loved The View Restaurant. Nice location. Pricey even for Telluride.

I know telluride is expensive but to pay £350.00 for a room with a wall view ( I know I went for cheapest room but surely this was poor ) a bath that can’t be plugged - charger that didn’t work was unacceptable - the valet were lovely but I would do your research and look for somewhere else to spend your money ..

We were disappointed the pool was closed two out of the 4 days of our stay. Certain areas of the lodge are in the process of being renovated. I would have liked to have known this before we had booked our stay.

We had the most amazing stay! The staff was super friendly, helpful and prompt. The town was cute and fun - check out the Detroit style pizza at brown dog pizza! The room was magical with the fireplace, the views and the alpine berry tea! We also had the most amazing breakfast at The View restaurant - must have the brioche French toast. This was our most favorite one night stay of a 7 day road trip!

We enjoyed our stay at the Lodge. It’s a clean comfortable place. Ski in/ski out was awesome! They have ski equipment lockers as well as ski racks down by ski out. They are dog friendly. Only one dining option and it was a little pricey and limited menu so we didn’t eat there. For a single room it would’ve been nice to have a king bed but for only a few nights, a queen is fine. Overall, I would recommend and go back!

The lodge is right off the slope so it was a ski-in/ski-out location. The lodge does seem old and in need of a renovation to bring everything up to the 21st century. The bathrooms were small but the water temperature and pressure were great. The fireplace and heating were excellent. It was a short walk to a convenience store and gondola which can take you into town where there are many great dining options
